The fact that this bug is such a big problem, affects all Ubuntu pidgin users, and still isn't fixed, after almost a year, completely baffles me. [Bug 819925] [NEW] iwlwifi driver exports all packets through netlink
Public bug reported: A new option present in Kernel 3.0 enables exporting all wifi packets on the iwlwifi driver through (generic) netlink, for debug purposes (an intel undisclosed svtool). This should not be enabled by default, as it forces all wifi packet to be delivered through netlink (causing a large amount of netlink operations, leading to cpu overhead, and battery overhead). Re: [Bug 192888] Re: firefox crashes on flash contents when using libflashsupport
4 months into the hardy releasy and six into this bug, and flash is still not working. I've seen some possible fixes in this bugreport, but no definitive solutions. I have seen many new users change back to Windows or to other distros because of this bug. Sorry guys, but this really needs fixing... IMHO it should be marked as *Critical*. It's sad to see newly converted users leaving linux and ubuntu because they can't see youtube. I don't really understand the status of the affected packages, since I see several fix released, but it's still not working. It would be great if someone could explain this, because it's a bit confusing (especially for someone trying to learn its ways around proper bug managing) But i have two questions from an average user's perspective: - Is there at least a recommended workaround for this ? If there is, it deserves front and center attention on the bug report and on the wiki at least (possibly also in the forums: "How to Fix your crashing Flash") - Is there any way to contribute to this ? Package testing ? Further bug information ? Anything to speed this up ? (I don't think Ubuntu can afford 4 more months of this, and we should all pitch in.) [Bug 148711] Re: SCSI HardDisk Not Detected on Toshiba RAID controller in Toshiba Qosmio G20 Laptop
I tried Alpha2 (http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/hardy/alpha2) and it properly recognized the hard drives, so it's working up to that point. It's not my laptop, so i cannot test a clean install on it. I say this because the feisty install also required some major tricking to boot once installed. On a side a note, nvidia driver never worked on feisty, my friend is stuck on nv or vesa. Smacked against the same problem on the Qosmio G20. Gutsy Beta 1 will not recognize the hard drives out of the box. I managed to get it to recognize the hard drives as follows: Press F6 on the Grub menu while over the first menu option (Other Options): Append the following options to the boot line and then boot (Enter): blacklist=piix,ata_piix This enabled me to have the drives recognized properly. [Bug 79135] Re: gnome-power-manager and a problem with the brightness
I can see this bug also on a T60. But, gnome-power-manager adjusts the slider and the OSD through information received through hal, therefore this bug relates to HAL and ibm-acpi. HAL is capable of picking up the information supplied by gnome-power-manager, but does not pickup the correct level from ibm-acpi when the brightness changes. Digging deeper, when changing the brightness through the hotkeys, the ibm-acpi does not pickup the change in spite of the brightness changing, and therefore /proc/acpi/ibm/brightness level does not change. Since the ibm-acpi is part of the vanilla source, i would say that this is a linux-source-2.6.20 bug. ** Changed in: linux-source-2.6.20 (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: gnome-power-manager => linux-source-2.6.20 Status: Unconfirmed => Needs Info -- gnome-power-manager and a problem with the brightness https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/79135 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 87687] Re: New git snapshot required for xorg 7.2/feisty
After some code checking, the Xinerama stuff is already in the git package that John Dong put together. The patch fails to apply because it's already there. [Bug 84991] Re: Resume from suspend fails with FGLRX
Nice catch. If that doesn't work, i can only assume that it is X700 specific. I would recommend that you take the following steps: 1. Try the new driver release 8.34.8 and see if it works. You can find information on how to install here: http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubuntu_Feisty_Installation_Guide 2. If nothing works, file an issue on the ATI Customer Care as already shown on this thread, or even on the unofficial bug report database http://ati.cchtml.com/ Other than this, we should probably close this bug, since it is a binary driver and cannot be fixed in Ubuntu. -- Resume from suspend fails with FGLRX https://launchpad.net/bugs/84991 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 89141] Re: fn f4 key no longer generates suspend with feisty on thinkpad t60
There isn't any attachment on the bug report, could you directly upload it here on launchpad ? Did you manage to put the laptop to sleep using Fn+F4 and the sleep.sh script ? It would be nice to get everything going through g-p-m, since it is already working here, and for most people. But we can cease and desist if this works for you and nobody else complains... -- fn f4 key no longer generates suspend with feisty on thinkpad t60 https://launchpad.net/bugs/89141 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 84991] Re: Resume from suspend fails with FGLRX
> [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ gnome-power-manager --no-daemon --verbose > g-p-m.log Well, guess g-p-m uses stderr: Try instead: $ gnome-power-manager --no-daemon --verbos &> g-p-m.log After having g-p-m running, suspend the laptop. Then check the file for errors. [Bug 85844] Re: fglrx power saving
After a few hours messing about with xorg-driver-fglrx, linux- restricted-modules and the ATI driver installer, I don't see that the package tries to pack the files in question. But I also missed to see that being done in Edgy packages.
