[Bug 312491] Re: Out-of-disk-space is not reported to the user when installing/updating packages fails
I spent a few more minutes to wade through a list of similar bug reports and duplicated most of them to this one. This shows that this is a very common problem. The install/update of some package fails because of out of space, but the user does not know about it and is just presented the package install failed message which leads to many unnecessary bug reports. I think the current list of duplicates warrants setting the importance for this bug to something like high, can somebody with enough rights do this? I also adjusted the title to show the intent of the bug a bit better. ** Summary changed: - Failure to update add/ or remove programs + Out-of-disk-space is not reported to the user when installing/updating packages fails ** Also affects: synaptic (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Out-of-disk-space is not reported to the user when installing/updating packages fails https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312491 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

When I start in recovery mode, I can choose resume normal boot, which brings me to a text console. From there doing sudo kdm starts the XServer normally and displays the login prompt. Attached logs are from a self-compiled kernel, but I have the same thing with the official -14 and -15 kernel from Karmic. [Bug 479601] Re: /usr/lib/python2.6/shutil.py, line 34, harattr instead of hasattr
The following command will show you which package contains a file: $ dpkg -S /usr/lib/python2.6/shutil.py python2.6: /usr/lib/python2.6/shutil.py So python2.6 itself it is! However that file is correct in my installation, it uses hasattr, I have version 2.6.4-0ubuntu2, which one is installed for you? $ apt-cache policy python2.6 python2.6: Installiert: 2.6.4-0ubuntu2 -- /usr/lib/python2.6/shutil.py, line 34, harattr instead of hasattr https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/479601 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 463762] Re: After update to karmic ALT-F[1-8] switches to text console
I did some more investigation, this is what I came up with: It seems to be depending on the kernel and the type of hibernate/resume that is used. - For stock kernels from Karmic with swsusp it does NOT happen - For TuxOnIce-enalbed kernels from the TuxOnIce PPA it HAPPENS - If I download pre-kernel 2.6.31-16.51~pre2 from the PPA at https://launchpad.net/~stefan-bader-canonical/+archive/karmic, it does NOT happen - If I patch pre-kernel 2.6.31-16.51~pre2 from the PPA at https://launchpad.net/~stefan-bader-canonical/+archive/karmic with TuxOnIce patches from 20091009, it does NOT happen so it seems to be introduced in the TuxOnIce sources between the patch- release 20091009 and the version of TuxOnIce used for building the kernel on the TuxOnIce-PPA. -- After update to karmic ALT-F[1-8] switches to text console https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/463762 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 198724] Re: [amd64] partimage not synced
I built partimage on my PPA at https://launchpad.net/~dominik- stadler/+archive/ppa for Karmic and at https://launchpad.net/~dominik- stadler/+archive/dsta-jaunty-ppa for Jaunty. Both have been used successfully on 64-bit installations. Nominating this for Lucid as I don't see any reason why this is still not included for amd64/x86_64-architecture. -- [amd64] partimage not synced https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/198724 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
