[Bug 1318262] [NEW] ui freezes after a short perioud when browsing upnp media

2014-05-10 Thread MrMur
Public bug reported:

When browsing upnp content, vlc will freeze and start to consume 100% of
a CPU core. If you run from the terminal, the console will fill up
with...

total jobs = 100, too many jobstotal jobs = 100, too many jobstotal jobs
= 100, too many jobstotal jobs = 100, too many jobstotal jobs = 100, too
many jobstotal jobs = 100, too many jobstotal jobs = 100, too many
jobstotal jobs = 100, too many jobstotal jobs = 100, too many jobstotal
jobs = 100, too many jobstotal jobs = 100.

This happened on a 32 bit upgraded laptop (11.10 - 12.04 - 14.04) and
a newly installed 64 bit laptop (14.04).

The upnpn server in question is Mediatomb, running on Ubuntu 14.04
server, on top of Xen 4.4.

Thanks for reading.

99% Sure it didn't happen straight away with 12.04 but appeared after
updates. Seems to happen after login and also if networking is disabled
/re-enabled via kill-switch.

[Bug 590390] Re: minisd unmounts and remounts mounts on use with errors

2010-06-07 Thread MrMur
Removed mainline tag. See comment #2.

I tried on an alternative laptop with a built-in MMC reader, running
Ubuntu 10.04. I couldn't reproduce the problem, although I have mucked
about with the mini-SD so much that I am think I might have made the
problem go away, rather than fixed.

[Bug 590390] Re: minisd unmounts and remounts mounts on use with errors

2010-06-06 Thread MrMur
I reformatted to ext2 and tried again. Same issue in the multicard
reader, however no problems using the usb adapter. I did have a problem
with the usb adapter, but I am wondering if that was genuine corruption
as I can no longer re-produce the problem.

I will reformat in the camera (Casio Exilim) which is original FAT,
AFAIR:

I have copied back the original pics plus a few others that I created
with the camera to get the right folder structure. This can be read via
USB adapter, but not by the built-in multi-card reader.

[Bug 393026] [NEW] Link not usually detected on wired net interface

2009-06-27 Thread MrMur
Public bug reported:

I am using 9.04, although this happened in 8.10 and 8.04.

Most of the time, the wired network interface doesn't detect the present
of a cable (which is attached to a switch). The link light comes on but
NetworkManager doesn't recognise this. After several removals and
insertions the link will be finally detected until subsequent cable
removal, after which the same pattern would apply. When the cable is
inserted and the link is not recognised, no entry is made in dmesg's
output. When it is recognised, a dmesg entry is made.

if a sudo mii-tool -R is issued, cable removal and re-insertion is
100% recognised until reboot, i.e. the problem goes away.

It happened for me again, after updating to Firefox 3.0.4. I removed and
re-installed Firefox 3.0.4 which didn't help... or so I thought. I day
later it was working again. I don't know if I rebooted or not, in the
meantime.

BTW, to answer the earlier question, yes, the icon appears. Everything
looks fine, i.e. it all looks right and you can type in the search
text/change search engines, etc, except nothing happens when you hit
return.

I have the same issue.

If you do dmesg inbetween re replugging, it does not register the

example, but was the same in regular kernel.) This is a big issue for
me.

nothing happens. If the leave it empty (so there is a greyed Google)
and hit return, the current page goes to a google search page, as you'd
expect. I tried re-installing through Synaptic, which didn't help.

The search bar used to work until recently, a few days ago, perhaps.

This is Hardy, via webi.
