[Bug 855257] [NEW] Tomboy cannot be setup to synchronize notes
Public bug reported: On my system if I choose "Ubuntu one" as synchronization service in tomboy the button that sould read "connect to server" is grayed out and reads "Already Registered". I am logged in to ubuntu one using ubuntuone-control-panel-gtk. So that would be plausible. Only that if I press "Synchronize now" in tomboy's main menu tomboy tells me that synchronization is not configured - and in the synchronization preferences I see that "tomboy notes" is chosen as sync service and - of course - unconfigured. Did want to give it another try since on my android phone the app "chalk" does do the job. Kind regards, Gunter. [Bug 810653] Re: Gestures won't work on HP/Compaq mini 311 touchpad
tuxinvader seems to has found the reason for this problem (see Bug #527890). Seems to be a kernel bug after all; Will copy the relevant part of the text here and then try to find out how to reassign this bug to the kernel: Hi all, I was asked to be help some one get vertical scroll working on their HP, so I've just blown the dust of mine and installed Natty. Vertical Scroll still broken by default :-( The problem with scrolling is Ubuntu specific. Kernel.org kernels should just work. Ubuntu patches add support for a Dell Precision 4500. There is a lot of additional code in there for making the Dell work, but it uses a similar touchpad to the HP (same vendor/product IDs) and that is what breaks vertical scrolling on the HP. ** Package changed: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) => linux-meta (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/810653 Title: Gestures won't work on HP/Compaq mini 311 touchpad To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-meta/+bug/810653/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 810653] Re: Gestures won't work on HP/Compaq mini 311 touchpad
** Description changed: - Gestures alone wouldn't be this big a problem. But syndaemon won't work - either making typing a consistent piece of text harder than it should - be; There already has been a bug report for this issue (Bug #527890) but - it has been closed since it was filed against a series that is no more - supported. + The touchpad of the HP Mini 311 seems to be recognized as a touchpad. It partially seems to work, too: I can move the mouse pointer and if I tap on the touchpad this is recognized as a click. This feature tends to be rather hysterical, though, so for a few weeks now I am trying to tell the touchpad to disable tap-on-click while typing. All tools that could help there I am aware of (syndaemon, gnome-mouse-properties, syncmd) seem to know that my touchpad is a touchpad and offer me to change configuration parameters. syncmd even shows the altered value for the parameters afterwards if I try to read them back. + The problem now is that no matter what I am doing my tries to change the sensitivity, gesture, tapping, scroll or any other part of the touchpad's behavior seem to be completely ignored by the touchpad itself: It always stays in the default mode (No two-finger-scroll, no edge or circular scroll, default sensitivity and click-on-tap is enabled). + There already has been a bug report for this issue (Bug #527890) but it is now closed since it was filed against a series of Ubuntu that is no more supported. [Bug 799596] [NEW] flat xml format inaccuracy
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libreoffice The flat XML formats of LibreOffice are very practical when working with version control systems like svn, mercurial, bazaar or cvs. In lodraw saving files in the .fodt format seems currently to loose information, though: After saving the file attached to this bug as flat xml and re-opening it - the drawing is no longer aligned to the grid - and some texts have whitespace attached that being of a much higher vertical size than the rest of the text (I think it was 12pt versus 6pt) ruin the layout. If the file is saved in the .odt format in the ordinary .odt format instead on opening it will just look as it did before saving the file instead. [Bug 771565] Re: batch export feature sometimes unresponsive
This request was a good one: I am currently working mainly with four files that contain too much private data so i cannot give them away and had this problem constantly even in old openoffice times. When I tried to reproduce the problem with trivial files containing the words "Test 1" and "Test 2" the problem didn't occour, though. So i did a cat /dev/random|hd > test.txt converted the output of this command to the odt format - and have not been able to reproduce this problem either. But I found another hint what can cause it: The problem is not constantly there. It rather seems like something in files with a complex document structure may keep libreoffice for long enough that whoever talks to it runs into a timeout. At least pyconvert and unoconv do so on my netbook - where the low CPU power tends to make things like this more probable. Will try to find a reliable way of triggering the problem and will add another comment to this bug as soon as i can provide more solid information. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/771565 Title: batch export feature sometimes unresponsive -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 771565] [NEW] batch export feature conflicts with gui
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libreoffice Libreoffice contains two documented ways of batch-exporting .odt or .doc-files as pdf, text or any other format libreoffice is capable of wtiting of: - running a macro that might be contained in a separate file - or using the libreoffice sweet as a server and controlling it using the uno bindings. Many batch converters like pyconvert and unoconv use this method. Anyhow it seems like these features somehow conflict with normal use of libreoffice: if libreoffice is already opened when trying to run it as a server it seems like - libreoffice refuses to starts a separate process for the server - but failes to start the server on the already running process: All I can get from tools like unoconv if libreoffice is already running in GUI mode seems to be a blank page. If I start the server first converting documents in batch mode works really fast. But this approach leaves me with two options that both have their disadvantages: - If I run the libreoffice server in GUI mode it works only as long as a libreoffice window is open. And really opens all files that are about to be converted in separate gui windows. - Invisible mode really feels like a batch converter, doesn't clutter the desktop with windows and is real fast. But if a libreoffice server is running in invisible mode libreoffice won't open a window even if you try to open documents from command line or by double-clicking on them. Please reassign this bug to the correct package at will. [Bug 759184] Re: unoconv fails: "Unable to start listener"
Did try both the trunk and v0.4. They both work fine; The question about the advantages of using autoconf for a python project is a good one which is the reason I asked before doing anything: The makefile included with the project does what it is expected to do. And any autoconf beast consists of about 5 files that have to be updated every time autoconf changes. In return for that Configure would complain about missing packages even before the makefile is run. ** Summary changed: - unoconv fails: "Unable to start listener" + unoconv 0.3 doesn't know how to work with libreoffice ("Unable to start listener") ** Changed in: unoconv (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/759184 Title: unoconv 0.3 doesn't know how to work with libreoffice ("Unable to start listener") -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 760214] [NEW] odt2txt lacks support for flat xml formats
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: odt2txt Please add support for the flat xml formats from libreoffice to odt2txt. Background: Normally the files produces by openoffice are a zip-archive containing a directory tree that represents the document object model of the file. In other words it contains a direcory structure with - a file containing the text - cascading stylesheets containing the formatting - and all images included inside the file This is a rather elegant structure and saves space on the hard disk since the file is compressed. If you work with version control (Bazaar, Subversion, Mercurial and the like) this compression has a drawback, though: Normally version control only keeps track of all the changes that occour to a file. And normally only a small portion of a big file changes at once. But if the file is compressed - changes are high that evenaltering a single byte will change the whole compressed file. To avoid this problem libreoffice allows to save documents as "flat XML file" (.fodt, .fods etc.) which is a uncompressed xml file containing the whole document object model the zip archive would. But they allow for effective version control which makes them useful enough that an easy way of converting them would make sense. [Bug 753047] Re: Ubuntu One address book not working in Evolution
Very interesting: This problem persisted for me for months. It could be temporary fixed by - logging in - waiting until the network is up $ killall -9 e-addressbook-factory $ /usr/lib/evolution/e-addressbook-factory - waiting for about 10 seconds - and starting evolution only then. but the fix would not persist until the next log-in. Today I did run $ killall -9 e-addressbook-factory $ export COUCHDB_DEBUG_MESSAGES=1 $ /usr/lib/evolution/e-addressbook-factory ...and since then my couchdb addressbook has started working even after restarting the computer. Will watch it for the next few days and see if it really fixed the actual problem - or this time it worked by a pure accident. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/753047 Title: Ubuntu One address book not working in Evolution -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 727370] Re: Contacts not syncing with my computer
On my computer it is sufficient to do a $ killall -9 e-addressbook-factory $ /usr/lib/evolution/e-addressbook-factory and to wait about 10 seconds prior to starting evolution to be able to see the contacts. But I have to repeat these steps every time i log in to my computer. Since the above commands won't help if the network connection isn't running it somehow looks like something is starting e-addressbook-factory before the network is up and e-addressbook-factory won't recover from this; Any try to copy all contacts from the couchdb to the local addressbook will still result in a timeout , though. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/727370 Title: Contacts not syncing with my computer -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
