[Bug 1347927] Re: python-pyparsing version dependency missing
I would suggest that the user verify that they can use mpl_toolkits such as axes_grid1, mplot3d and basemap. If there are problems there, then this is a deeper issue. Btw, the specific requirement for pyparsing is ['pyparsing>=1.5.6,!=2.0.0']. There was a very bad bug in version 2.0.0 that was subsequently fixed in a later version. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1347927 Title: python-pyparsing version dependency missing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/matplotlib/+bug/1347927/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1347927] Re: python-pyparsing version dependency missing
Uhm, this might actually not be an issue with the package. Between v1.2 and v1.3, we changed to using setuptools, and changed our dependency handling. If there was a pre v1.3 install of matplotlib prior to installing v1.3+, this can cause issues (for examples, you may have problems with mpl_toolkits and dateutils because of how they are now handled differently than before). Looking at the error message, I see it references "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.7/matplotlib/__init__.py" (note the version- less matplotlib name). This is how matplotlib used to be installed in pre v1.2 days, making me wonder if this is really a different problem.

[Bug 752647] Re: "import pylab" in a python console flags error "No module named _tkagg"
Because the default configuration uses the TKAgg backend, it might be a good idea to include 'matplotlib/backends/_tkagg.so' file in the list of files that must exist. I am not familiar with debian build files, but with rpm build packages, one can specify files that should exist after the build, and an error will be thrown if it doesn't exist. [Bug 313834] Re: subsequent figures close immediately
Don't import matplotlib.pyplot as pylab. This will only serve to cause confusion as the pylab interface is different from the pyplot interface. You should only need to do the first two lines (and they should be before any other matplotlib imports). In addition, because Natty *should* come with matplotlib v1.0.1 (fingers crossed), this bug should become irrelevant as the problem in TkAgg has long since been fixed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/313834 Title: subsequent figures close immediately -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

IsidoreSparkle, a) See comment #16, as the original reporter stated that his problem was fixed. This was later confirmed by a few other uses and re-affirmed by the original reporter. If you are still having a problem, then you have a different bug with a similar symptom. Comments #24 through 26 show other users who have filed new bugs. Maybe one of those apply to you and you should add to those reports? Or, file a new bug. b) At the risk of being condescending, 3 or 4 people is not widespread. While I am aware of the fact that many might not be reporting this bug, I have seen other bug reports that were much more "widespread". However, this does not diminish the fact that *you* are having a problem, and it should be solved, regardless of it being widespread or not. I do hope that we can solve your issue, and that would be best done in a new report or in another report that more closely matches your problem. c) That would only be true if this was an open ticket. However, because it is marked as "Fix Committed", the developers and QA people do not see these reports anymore (unless they search for it specifically). Hence why you should move to a ticket with a matching problem, or open a new bug report. d) I don't follow your logic here. Adobe has refused to maintain their product on Linux, even when broken. The Linux community has bent over backwards to try and support outdated Flash software, but there is only so much they can do. Adobe -- on all platforms -- has been slow to produce bugfixes and to maintain their software. Other things like monitors, keyboards, routers and such, so long as their drivers are open source, will likely continue to work for a very long time because we can do something about it. With closed-sourced drivers and software, there is very little that can be done. This is a cold, harsh reality that the Linux community has been trying to make people aware of for a long time. To summarize, this bug report is *Closed*. Please file a new report or join an open one that matches your problem more exactly. -- [LUCID] cd/dvd not recognized https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/554433 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 554433] Re: [LUCID] cd/dvd not recognized
This is a bug report system and not a forum. While these discussions are *healthy* for driving improvements to Linux and ironing out rough edges, they do not belong here. Also, because this bug has been marked as "Fix Released" the developers are no longer looking at this report and will not see your messages. Because the fix did work for some people, I suspect the problem you are experiencing is slightly different and a new bug report should be filed. This will increase the likelihood of your specific issue being addressed. Feel free to mention in the new bug report that your issue may be similar to this bug report. Also, keep in mind that for many people, CDs and DVDs are working just fine, and that this problem is not widespread. We need *your* reports to make Linux better. As a side-note, the issue with Flash is that because it is closed- source, only Adobe can release fixes for it. Because Linux is such a small marketshare, they do not care enough to fix their products for Linux. This is also true for nVidia right now. -- [LUCID] cd/dvd not recognized https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/554433 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 511774] Re: My user session closes randomly [Karmic]
clh, I don't know if it is a "known" bug in the sense that we know exactly the cause of the session shutting down. It certainly does appear to be an intrusion attempt (but I am hardly an expert). However, the session should not shut down due to such attempts. This kind of behavior is a form of "Denial of Service". While the hacker probably could not access information or take control, they were still able to trigger undesired behavior. This is definitely a dependency issue. tex-common needs texlive-base because the tex-common --configure process seems to search for the texlive-base package. [Bug 435805] Re: Icons overlap for categories with >= 9 rows
vexorian, thank you for your assistance in this matter. As a reminder, it is still not recommended to *install* Lucid just to test a few packages. Also, a virtual machine, while very useful, can sometimes cause slightly different behaviors than your actual machine because some virtual machines translate the hardware into generic interfaces, causing the virtual environment to use different drivers than it would have used on the machine itself. Therefore, in order for the virtual machine tests to be useful, the problem first has to be reproduced using Jaunty or Karmic in the VM, and then tested using Lucid in the VM. As an alternative, you can boot into a LiveCD session of Lucid without ever touching your current install (it is very much like how Knoppix works, if you have ever used that). -- Icons overlap for categories with >= 9 rows https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/435805 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

sanktnelson, the recommended way to test the Lucid beta system is to download the iso file from http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-netbook /daily-live/current/. [Bug 464020] Re: Ubuntu software center says waiting for other software managers to quit when none are open
Thanks ashbonne, this indicates to me that 'update-grub' is not the cause of the problem for you (but may still be the issue for others). I will look into other possibilities. As a side note, the '|' symbol (which is typically found on English keyboards on the same key as the '\' symbol) is referred to as the 'pipe' in Linux-speak. If you care to know, its job at the command line is to take the output of the command before it and 'pipe' it as input into the command after it. Therefore, in this case, 'ps ax' outputs a list of all running processes, and 'grep update-grub' searches the input for any instances of the text 'update-grub'. -- Ubuntu software center says waiting for other software managers to quit when none are open https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/464020 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I am very doubtful that this is a graphics driver issue. This seems to be more related to changes to the UNR code to calculate icon spacing and window sizes.
