[ubuntu-art] Murrina Humanity
Hey folks, I'm the author of the theme Nine, about which I posted a couple months back. My latest work is a re-imaging of Dark Room. Murrina Nine VIIc Humanity (or Murrina Humanity, as it's known to its friends) can be found here: http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=102178 The reason I did not post it on the wiki is that the sheer number of broken/ugly widgets that are endemic to dark GTK+ themes, especially in OpenOffice, make it unlikely to be considered for inclusion with Ubuntu. (If this is fallacious, please undeceive me.) The reason I am posting here is that despite its shortcomings, the theme was made with this community in mind. I hope some of you may use or find use for it. Regards, Alex -- ubuntu-art mailing list ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-art
Re: [Ubuntu-ch] Ubuntu-ch Digest, Vol 33, Issue 2
Hi SwissTeam I think, to put Ubuntu's name on the map isn't it the nicest area to start a Release Party, otherwise we'll have a place to start first time a Release Party in the main-city of Switzerland. On of the best 4 me would be this combination of things like Social and Free near the street. Hi! AptOnCD is the software to use, but you would have had to create a CD beforehand. Moz I agree that this is the *right* way of doing things. but, if he has not created a .iso with AptOnCD, he can still get away with it. Copy all your files from the backup location to /var/cache/apt/archives/ and update the filelist to the latest one available. Then, go to Synaptic and install the metapackage for Ubuntu Studio. This will install most of the applications from your downloaded cache, and download any newer ones from the net, if the .deb has been upgraded. You will have to do this: sudo cp /path/to/your/backup/ /var/cache/apt/archives/ And then good old Synaptic to do the rest. :) Hope this helps. Ninad S. Moz wrote: AptOnCD is the software to use, but you would have had to create a CD beforehand. This is the most efficient way. Moz, you don't need to write the ISO on the CD. Create the iso, keep it on a flash drive + the deb installer of aptoncd from /var/cache/apt/archives Now install Ubuntu Studio again. Goto you flash drive, install aptoncd.deb manually by double clicking on the deb file. Now when aptoncd is installed, goto SystemAdministrationAptoncd and then click on Restore button. Select the iso from the location where you stored it. Click on restore and its back to the repository. It even updates the index. :) -- Manish Sinha Blog [ http://blog.manishsinha.net/ ] Tech Blog [ http://manishtech.wordpress.com/ ] Twitter [ http://twitter.com/ManishSinha ] -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in

In theory, if you keep running the command enough times, all packages will get installed.
Enfim, vale a pena?
Taí a importância do LTS, vc conseguiria dar upgrade do 6.06 pro 8.04.
[Bug 354243] [NEW] Nautilus fails to browse any share on network to which Iomega Home Network Hard Drive (MDHD500-N, firmware K108.W15) is attached.
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: gvfs Nautilus fails to browse any share on network to which Iomega Home Network Hard Drive (MDHD500-N, firmware K108.W15) is attached. Might be 209520 or 296673 - but this should make diagnosis easier. Reproduced bug using Ubuntu i386 distribution disks for 7.10, 8.04, 8.04.2, 8.10 and 9.04 beta - in other word, standard Ubuntu configuration. The Iomega NAS had immediately prior had a firmware upgrade with subsequent hard reset. This should be reproducible by maintainers. The Iomega server is SAMBA or SAMBA-like, with a rudimentary html interface. It is normal for end users to not have control over all server settings in many situations, so this is still a gvfs bug. As with similar bugs, all SAMBA shares are reported correctly with findsmb and smbclient, and can be mounted using smb4k. ** Affects: samba (Ubuntu) Importance: Low Status: New -- Nautilus fails to browse any share on network to which Iomega Home Network Hard Drive (MDHD500-N, firmware K108.W15) is attached. https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/354243 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 354243] Re: Nautilus fails to browse any share on network to which Iomega Home Network Hard Drive (MDHD500-N, firmware K108.W15) is attached.
Just want to make sure it's understood that smbtree doesn't browse the share when run under specific conditions outlined above - particularly the fact that it was in a live CD session. Under my current, evolving (implementing work-arounds) configuration, smbtree does produce output, listed below. Are there bad interactions among multiple SAMBA servers that cannot be isolated to configuration of single server? Given that many network devices use embedded SAMBA servers, shouldn't Nautilus, hence gvfs, be extremely robust in browsing and mounting shares? I post the following (from current, not-controlled-experiment configuration), noting the LANMAN error message, and hoping extraneous information does not muddy diagnosis; but stand by previous experimental results - Iomega NAS should have been browse-able from a live CD session, and was not: === step...@inspiron-ubuntu:~$ findsmb *=DMB +=LMB IP ADDR NETBIOS NAME WORKGROUP/OS/VERSION - 192.168.1.66IOMEGA-36AE[UTOPIA_BEACH] [R] [R] 192.168.1.100 INSPIRON-UBUNTU [UTOPIA_BEACH] [Unix] [Samba 3.2.3] 192.168.1.102 UBUNTU-810+[UTOPIA_BEACH] [Unix] [Samba 3.2.3] step...@inspiron-ubuntu:~$ smbclient -L 192.168.1.66 Enter stephen's password: Domain=[UTOPIA_BEACH] OS=[R] Server=[R] Server requested LANMAN password (share-level security) but 'client lanman auth' is disabled tree connect failed: SUCCESS - 0 step...@inspiron-ubuntu:~$ smbtree Password: UTOPIA_BEACH \\UBUNTU-810Samba 3.2.3 \\UBUNTU-810\clp300 Samsung CLP-300N at 192.168.1.88 \\UBUNTU-810\IPC$ IPC Service (Samba 3.2.3) \\UBUNTU-810\the.kamms the.kamms Samba Share \\UBUNTU-810\household Read Only Samba Share \\UBUNTU-810\gnucashGnucash Samba Share \\UBUNTU-810\betsey Betsey's Samba Share \\UBUNTU-810\stephenStephen's Samba Share \\IOMEGA-36AE Server requested LANMAN password (share-level security) but 'client lanman auth' is disabled failed tcon_X with NT_STATUS_OK \\INSPIRON-UBUNTU Inspiron-Ubuntu server (Samba, Ubuntu) \\INSPIRON-UBUNTU\CLP-300N Samsung Color Laser Printer \\INSPIRON-UBUNTU\IPC$ IPC Service (Inspiron-Ubuntu server (Samba, Ubuntu)) \\INSPIRON-UBUNTU\print$Printer Drivers step...@inspiron-ubuntu:~$ -- Nautilus fails to browse any share on network to which Iomega Home Network Hard Drive (MDHD500-N, firmware K108.W15) is attached. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/354243 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 354972] [NEW] apt-transport-https: large packages timeout after 120s, even while progress is being made
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: apt As part of testing, I am occasionally installing large packages from private-ppas on launchpad, which makes use of https and apt-transport- https. While doing so, I get timeouts like the following: Get:1 https://private-ppa.launchpad.net hardy/main PACKAGE 9.1.0-6 [63.4MB] Err https://private-ppa.launchpad.net hardy/main PACKAGE 9.1.0-6 Operation timed out after 12 milliseconds with 13942784 out of 63370760 bytes received Failed to fetch https://ID:passw...@private-ppa.launchpad.net/PROJECT/ubuntu/pool/main/P/PACKAGE/PACKAGE_9.1.0-6_i386.deb Operation timed out after 12 milliseconds with 13942784 out of 63370760 bytes received E: Unable to fetch some archives, maybe run apt-get update or try with --fix-missing? Manually wget'ing the package and installing succeeds, and I also do not see similar timeouts when downloading (asbsurdly) large packages over http. Looking at the source code, in methods/https.cc we have the following code: // set timeout int timeout = _config-FindI(Acquire::http::Timeout,120); curl_easy_setopt(curl, CURLOPT_TIMEOUT, timeout); curl_easy_setopt(curl, CURLOPT_CONNECTTIMEOUT, timeout); Quoting the curl_easy_setopt(3) manpage: CURLOPT_TIMEOUT Pass a long as parameter containing the maximum time in seconds that you allow the libcurl transfer operation to take. Note that it's not a timeout of inactivity, it's just a maximum time the transfer can take. This does not match the behavior of method/http.cc where HttpMethod::Go sets the same timeout value on a select() call on any of the open filedescriptors; this only gets triggered if none of the connections make any progress by the timeout time. It seems to me that the http and https behaviors ought to be made consistent, or else the https method ought to honor a separate Acquire::https::Timeout setting. [Bug 354344] Re: Jaunty updates borked nvidia
** Description changed: rob...@beast:~$ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu jaunty (development branch) Release:9.04 rob...@beast:~$ apt-cache policy linux-image-generic linux-image-generic: Installed: 2.6.28.11.14 Candidate: 2.6.28.11.14 Version table: *** 2.6.28.11.14 0 500 http://nz.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status I was happily using Jaunty Beta (Kubuntu) until tonight with the latest updates KDE would not start. I think there was a kernel update. Eventually I realised that the Nvidia driver was not loading so I edited xorg.conf as follows:- Section Device Identifier Configured Video Device # Driver nvidia Driver nv and now KDE works. How do I get nvidia working again? + + EDIT: I found the problem. + + The update included a kernel update but Grub was not updated correctly. + There was no Grub entry for the new kernel. + Fixed that and now nvidia drivers are working again. -- Jaunty updates borked nvidia https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/354344 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
