Hello, I suggest you change the source of the light on your icon, and put it above instead of below, for more consistency with the rest of the theme. Also, I think it'd be better to use a slightly lighter (more saturated ?) colour. If you think the icon is made of glass the effect is correct. If you think all is made with a other material so the filling should be inverted. I personally like the glass-feeling. :-) Also, I wonder if all the navigation icons should be orange? mhh, isn't it better so? The original Human-Theme was to colourfull for me... I also like where Sebastien has reduced the # of keys on the smaller icons instead of just making the keys smaller. You made a actual Breathe-Set from the PPA and all in moment new included Icons you can find in submissions. I would make it too, but it will take to much time for me... But I think a new actualication will come soon and I can save all this work to do it myself. ;-) I saw the network-icon with the green lines in your screenshot. I don't get the right feel with it. Maybe the white lines will fit better with the web-icon what is below of the network-icon. :-? It took so long time because it has to download 1267 packages and replace the old ones with the new ones. It is because you had installed such huge number of packages in your earlier version and thus all those packages needs to be replaced. [Ubuntu-QC] Installation d'Ubuntu 9.04...
Bonjour Messieurs, Comme un peu tout le monde, j'ai Upgrader mon ordinateur pour la nouvelle version 9.04 en passant par Update-Manager. J'avais hâte de voir les nouveautés en espérant quelques bugs corrigés. Mon portable Compaq CQ50 à bien réagit et tout semble bien fonctionner. Il semble les développeurs ont fait un excellent travail. Un seul bémol pour moi; je ne peut plus synchroniser mon Palm 750 avec Évolution alors que tout fonctionnait bien avant sur 8.10. Le Palm se connect bien, Synce-Tray s'allume mais sans partnership. J'ai refait plusieurs manipulation, synce-sync-engine au démarage, msynctool --listgroups me montre bien mon groupe, msynctool --listplugins montre bien les liens avec évolution mais plus de partnership et un synce-create-partnership même en sudo ne fonctionne plus: j...@jbd-laptop:~$ sudo synce-create-partnership linuxgroups Contacts,Calendar,Tasks error: unable to connect to running sync-engine Please ensure sync-engine is running before executing this command Quelqu'un a une idée? J'ai fait le test et ça ne change rien. Ce qui est étrange c'est que j'ai installé jaunty sur une autre partition et ça fonctionne très bien mais la partition que j'ai mis à jour elle ne fontionne pas. J'ai réussi à faire une installation de jaunty sans cdrom, sans disquette, sans clé usb, sans réseau. Simplement selon la méthode préposée sur cette page: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/FromLinux 1. télécharger l'iso du livecd 2. copier le contenu du livecd sur une partition du disque 3. configurer grub en conséquence 4. démarrer dans cette partition 5. installer jaunty sur une autre partition. N.B cela nécessite donc au moins 3 partitions sur le disque: la partition utilisée habituellement, une vide pour le montage du livecd, une vide pour l'installation. Je l'explique ici brièvement car il y a certaine commande à faire mais la procédure est quand même simple. Je vais possiblement faire le test avec unetbootin. Shalom It should be possible, you'd need to make sure your BIOS can boot from a USB device (pretty much all machines built in the past 2 or 3 years can, possibly older ones too). As a precaution I'd say backup anything important just in case. When it comes to partitioning I would have thought your internal hard drive and your USB drive would come up as /dev/sdX (where X could be a, b, c etc). You can find out what partitions are on the drives by running fdisk as root (or with sudo) with this command... fdisk -l I find it's easier if both drives are different sizes that way it's not as easy to get them mixed up (and it avoids accidentally deleting the wrong partition). Another alternative to consider would be to run Gentoo in a virtual machine (maybe on Virtual Box or VMWare). That way you can play with it whilst still being able to use Ubuntu. Plus if you have a CPU which supports virtualization (Socket AM2 Athlon or higher, higher end Core 2 Duo or higher - this will tell you which ones are supported http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X86_virtualization) then you can enable that in Virtual Box (IIRC it's under the option AMD-V or Intel-VT) and it will give near native speeds in the virtual machine. It's worth bearing in mind too that Gentoo compiles stuff from source when it installs it. I haven't looked at Gentoo in a couple of years and I believe they have a live graphical installer now but I'm fairly certain that it still needs to compile everything which can take some time (a few hours at least). I'm not sure if you can now install a working system and then have it re-compile everything for the target CPU although it might be worth preparing for the possibility that you may not be able to do anything useable with your machine for a few hours to maybe a day. I have a laptop (less than a year old) with an ATI Radeon X1200 series graphics chip in it. After having installed Jaunty, I was pleased to see that suspend and resume worked (using the Open Source) drivers. Unfortunately however 3D acceleration is totally miserable. Google Earth runs like a proverbial pile of pants Doing a bit of research, I notice that ATI has depreciated support for X1200 series cards so that there are no proprietary drivers available for Jaunty (although suspend/resume never worked with the proprietary drivers anyway!). So, it looks like a choice of either stay with an older version of Ubuntu with proprietary driver support (but loose the ability to suspend/resume) or stick with Jaunty, but loose 3D acceleration features because of the pretty poor Open Source drivers. (although it is a basic cheapy business model). Perhaps one day in the future the Open Source drivers will get better now that AMD has released more code and documentation on ATI kit to the community. Firstly, I'd like to thank all those who made it or let me know that they couldn't make it due to other commitments to the release party in Cardiff! We had a low number of people turning out but when considering the amount of people in this launchpad team (22), nearly one third (6 in total) was able to make it, with half of the team giving feedback as to how/why they couldn't attend. For a team just two months old, well done to all! I hope to in the future have a bugjam in Wales, North or South I care not as long as we have an enthusiastic turnout. I would like to hear your feedback on the Welsh team so far, especially what mistakes we have made and/or how we can improve it! For example, we are pretty scattered in that we are found on the Ubuntu forums (as a group) yet we haven't had an official subforum approved yet, that we have a mailing lists approved by the Community Councils for a list at lists.ubuntu.com yet we can currently only really communicate via email through the launchpad group or hijacking ubuntu-uk's mailing list. Also a few of us are IRC regulars and then others have never been on IRC, We need a central medium in which to communicate and when Canonical's sys-admins have finished our mailing list, I'll let you all know so that we can subscribe and chat that way, I hope to have an introduction thread when we start to get acquainted with each other! What do you want -cym to actually do? Shall we hold meetings at various venues across Wales (North, South Mid) for stuff like bugjams, release parties, key-signing and meeting up etc., heck even install fests of various applications/games/upgrades of Ubuntu. Obviously one of the core aims of a LoCo such as this one is to provide support to users, so if one emails our proposed mailing list asking for assistance to install Ubuntu on their home PC and they have no internet at their homes, we ought to then either privately email them to acquire their number to do it over the phone or offer to go over their house (if local) to help them through it (and still keep hold of their Windows data) should any difficulties arise. Another key aim is the advocacy and sharing our knowledge with other people to help increase adoption, especially in businesses where they price of many Windows license is sometimes too high (which leads to the pirating of softwares at times). A good thing also is that we can attend conferences in Wales, a great place to find such ones is at a site called IT Wales (http://www.itwales.com/Events.htm), although not always a computer fair as such they often have good events where you can attend to learn about current technologies. Obviously contacting said site is going to assist in finding or promoting technological conferences in which new users could find it. Hi Chad I have just tried a live disc. orca is installed automatically but is not enabled. alt-f2 does give a run facility and typing orca and return does open an orca setup window. I hear a spoken sound then, however, it does not seem to be working well. The sound is too brief to understand. Setup choices numbers 1 to 52 are language choices. Number 1 and return is default english. But I have to agree that as shipped, the OS is in a pretty bad, unusable state. I'm saying that to be productive, not disrespectful. I don't know what it is about the realtime kernel, but it froze my system in beta, RC, and the final release. Maybe it's my own fault for not filing an official bug report, but I did bring it up on numerous occasions in the irc channel. The raw1394 situation has always been a bit annoying in these audio/video distributions, considering they are come across as being ready to use out of the box. This is not, and has never been the case, and that's not just Ubustu specific. It does however kind of defeat the purpose of a pro audio/video distribution if you can't record audio and video out of the box. It becomes no different than a vanilla ubuntu distro with a few multimedia packages installed. I'm more than happy to assist in testing the juju stack and any future kernels, but I wanted to note to the developers; We do appreciate your time and effort, we're just a bit frustrated with the current user experience. I am getting this error: cannot use real-time scheduling (FIFO at priority 10) [for thread -1211681088, from thread -1211681088] (1: Operation not permitted) I noticed that I do not have an audio group like I did previously. What group does my account have to have access to in order to access realtime? I still have an unbootable system. I tried reinstalling Ibex and doing another update from there but ended up with an unbootable system - just the word bug followed by hundreds of digits grouped in columns and rows with no way out of that screen when I start up. The only reason I was able to access any files at all is because I booted from the CD. In other words, updating with update manager is probably creating problems for more than just me but as people get back online after suffering this, we will start to hear more about it, at least at the forums. I am now on my third attempt and am hesitant to upgrade from 8.10 at all. After all, I need to use this machine. Luke, The custom kernel works wonderfully for me so far. No more crashes. I have been on it for over a half hour at a time. And (in case you're interested) on an ext4 partition. I had installed Studio, booted into recovery mode, installed linux-generic, re-booted into that, then installed your kernel. (That wasn't really a plan, it's just what I did, but it worked out.) [Ubuntu-BR] Flashplayer e Ubuntu 9.04 64bits
Pessoal, tinha perguntado a voçês uns dias atrás como andava o flashplayer no ubuntu 64. Muitos disseram que estavam sem problemas. Testei o flash da própria Adobe via apt. Este instala o 32 bits e dá problema. Segui o link que haviam enviado da própria adobe para o novo flash em 64 bits. Coloquei ele em /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins. Funciona porém a toda hora dá segmentation fault depois que eu coloquei ele lá dentro. Instalei outros flashplayers (os free) que o próprio firefox indicou, um de cada vez, porém não funcioname de forma perfeita. Alguém tem alguma boa novidade a respeito disto? Todas as máquinas já estão rodando legal, e queria instalar em tudo ao mesmo tempo tem como ? e ae Romano blz? Cara eu tenho duas formas para sugerir. A primeira é no caso desse seu programa que você quer instalar fazer parte do repositório e portanto ser instalado com o apt ou synaptic. O que você pode fazer é criar um PC que será o repositório de pacotes, assim você vai instalar o pacote nele e os outros PCs não irão consumir banda para fazer instalações/atualizações. Porém não tem como fazer tudo de uma vez ou uma vez só. Caso esse programa que quer instalar for um software que ficará em /usr então o que você pode usar é uma solução um pouco mais complexa. Segundo a própria documentação o diretório /usr do Linux existe exatamente para ser compartilhado: /usr is the second major section of the filesystem. /usr is shareable, read-only data. That means that /usr should be shareable between various FHS-compliant hosts and must not be written to. Any information that is host-specific or varies with time is stored elsewhere. ( http://www.pathname.com/fhs/pub/fhs-2.3.html#THEUSRHIERARCHY). Portanto o que você pode fazer é compartilhar esse diretório na rede via NFS e as máquinas client mapearem esse /usr, assim qualquer alteração no seu /usr será automaticamente vista pelas máquinas client (inclusive a instalação de um software). Eu acho essa solução muito bonita e posso dizer que funciona perfeitamente, principalmente se você permitir que montem com a opção de somente-leitura para uma maior segurança. Olá Fernando, Eu instalei a versão 64bit alpha e baixei direto do site da adobe, e ANTES DE INSTALAR, removi a versão 32 bit. Joguei o plugin em /usr/share/firefox-addons/plugins e tudo funcionando até agora perfeitamente! --- Atenciosamente. Muitos disseram que estavam sem problemas. Testei o flash da própria Adobe via apt. Este instala o 32 bits e dá problema. Segui o link que haviam enviado da própria adobe para o novo flash em 64 bits. Coloquei ele em /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins. Funciona porém a toda hora dá segmentation fault depois que eu coloquei ele lá dentro. Instalei outros flashplayers (os free) que o próprio firefox indicou, um de cada vez, porém não funcioname de forma perfeita. Alguém tem alguma boa novidade a respeito disto? Oechsler douglasgiov...@oechsler.com.br Olá Pessoal, Seguinte, quando baixei o ubuntu 9.04, baixei por um lugar onde o adsl era empresarial e foi de boa (naquele dia, mesmo sendo empresarial, tinha horas que a velocidade era podre) Mas, em casa devo dizer que nesse começo de semana e semana passada tudo e qualquer site de softwares ou algum download, mesmo do webmail, a taxa estava péssima (50 a 60 Kb/s) onde no mínimo era pra ser de 150, ja que a velocidade é de 1,5 Mb Talvez essa transição BRT/OI tenha alguma influência, pq fiquei sabendo que tudo esta sendo mudado, quem sabe possa estar pegando na adsl de quem é cliente BRT Ou os servers estão abarrotados com o download do caríssimo Ubuntu Baixei ontem os RCs 9.04 do Ubuntu e do Xubuntu direto da UFPR a 230kb/s direto por volta das 16hs, quando retornei da Flisol. Em menos de 2 hs estava com as duas isos blz. Bom se vc quiser um relatório de hardware existe o lshw que faz isso, ate gera em formato xml, ou html ou em texto, só ver o --help dele. Agora se vc quiser mais informações da memória e tals vc pode complementar o lshw junto com o dmidecode, faz um script que joga o resultado dos 2 para um arquivo e vc terá muitas informações de hardware. Agora quanto ao software é uma questão um tanto quanto complicado. Pois no Linux não existe a mesma idéia do Windows. O próprio cp é pode ser considerado um programa ou seja vc pode listar mais de 2 mil programas listados sendo que metade ou mais é programinha que vc não quer ver nesta lista. Bom para resolver o software eu não sei como fazer, e preciso de uma solução para meu trabalho se vc souber como eu também gostaria de saber. Abraços. [Ubuntu-BR] Incompatibilidada da placa intel com o 9.04
Olá pessal, tudo bem? Depois que instalei o jaunty, tentei configurar algumas coisas no COMPIZ e percebi que nenhum efeito poderia se habilitado. Dando uma pesquisada, descobri que rola uma imcompatibilidade com algumas placas de vídeo Intel. Alguem sabe como resolver essa incompatibilidade? Desde já, grato. Cara, desde a versão 6.04 que a minha placa intel não funciona direito. Antes era o consumo absurdo de cpu, agora no 9.04 não dá nem pra assistir um vídeo pq os players fecham sozinhos. Eu fiz uma postagem sobre isso no guia do hardware e no forum do ubuntu, além de alterar algumas coisas no xorg.conf seguindo orientações de um link que me passaram e continua ruim. Tentei o driver anterior mas daí fica aquela palhaçada de 100% de cpu pra rolar a página na tela. Acho que só esperando atualizarem e fazerem uma coisa que preste mesmo. Alguma ideia do que é isso? Vc provavelmente tem uma placa de video intel. Dá uma procurada no histórico da lista por intel que vc verá que mts pessoas tem o mesmo problema. André Fiuza André, isso já foi discutido aqui na lista, dá uma olhada, esse modo funcionou comigo e com outro usuário, mas lembre-se que o driver está bugado, aqui o X congelou apenas uma vez desde quinta e tenho deixado o computador ligado a maior parte do tempo. Aqui tive o mesmo problema, pelo que li, parece que o driver da Intel está com problemas (novidade, não, hehhe) que faz com que o sistema trave depois de algumas horas de uso de aplicativos que usem o opengl, dessa forma as GMA foram colocadas na blacklist do compiz. Aqui eu removi manualmente a minha GMA da blacklist editando o arquivo /usr/bin/compiz, onde exite a entrada T=$T 8086:2982 8086:2992 8086:29a2 8086:2a02 8086:2a12 # intel 965 sem as aspas, eu adicionei um # para tornar essa linha em comentário. eu tenho usado aqui e não tem dado problema, mas é bom lembrar que o driver está com problemas e seria bom testar por um tempo antes de fazer essa modificação, para isso vá execute alt +F2 e insira compiz skip_check use por um tempo a partir desse comando para ver se o sistema não irá ter problemas. No linux, você pensa em pacotes e não em programas, mas no final das contas é quase o mesmo. Para listar os pacotes instalados, use o comando; dpkg -l Cada linha que começar com ii significa que é um pacote instalado, as linhas que começam com rc é de configuração residual: o pacote estava instalado e foi removido com remove e não com o purge. Para filtrar apenas os que começam com ii: dpkg -l | grep ^ii Veja bem a diferença de -l (menos ele) e | (barra vertical; acima da \) 2009/4/26 romano br...@tanervoso.com.br Bom se vc quiser um relatório de hardware existe o lshw que faz isso, ate gera em formato xml, ou html ou em texto, só ver o --help dele. Agora se vc quiser mais informações da memória e tals vc pode complementar o lshw junto com o dmidecode, faz um script que joga o resultado dos 2 para um arquivo e vc terá muitas informações de hardware. Agora quanto ao software é uma questão um tanto quanto complicado. Pois no Linux não existe a mesma idéia do Windows. O próprio cp é pode ser considerado um programa ou seja vc pode listar mais de 2 mil programas listados sendo que metade ou mais é programinha que vc não quer ver nesta lista. Boa tarde, Sugiro que a colega trabalhe com o Ubuntu 8.10 - ele está mais estável, a maior parte dos problemas que ele apresentou já foram resolvidos. Consegui atualizar agora a pouco. Fiz o seguinte, em CANAIS DE SOFTWARE substitui o item baixar de SERVIDOR NO BRASIL para o SERVIDOR PRINCIPAL na aba PROGRAMAS DO UBUNTU.
