If yes, maybe. If not, use 32bit ISO. The desktop 64bit ISO is still not quite as stable as the 32bit one (especially for non-free stuff like Flash). Hopefully, as desktops with more than 4GB RAM become more and more commonplace, the 64bit desktop will start becoming the norm and bugs will get sorted, even in non-free components. Flash, Skype and other 3rd party apps have had issues on 64-bit where they don't on 32-bit. Which in itself demonstrates why open source is a more efficient model. If the code for Flash, Skype et al was available, pure 64bit builds for those would have been sorted aeons ago. This is rather frustrating because it means most people use the 32bit ISO rather than the 64bit one, even if they have hardware that should be able to take full advantage of a 64bit OS, because some non-free stuff is borked in 64bit. As a result, the 64bit desktop gets a lot less testing than it should. In the meantime, MS has Win7 with 64bit versions and can point at Linux and say look, we can do 64bit, they can't! I know that there are two diferent operating systems here and such and such, but if the firefox is coded the same way (I do think it is so cinse it wouldm be hard to maintain two diferent flavours of code), then perhaps a good part of the c++ v buffer implemented in NVDA could be used to process pages in firefox to orca. Sinse the two readers are written in python, chances are even greater that some code interchange might be possible. The way i would solve it (and this is not necessarily the best way) is to run: aptitude update aptitude dist-upgrade -y from a terminal window, and see what it says cannot be updated. Amigos, Volto a pedir a ajuda de vcs... Fiz o procedimento descrito nas mensagens anteriores e realmente resolveu o problema do hd, porém a solução mantém o hd ligado o tempo inteiro reduzindo a duração da bateria e o que é pior, superaquecendo o netbook... Encontrei um artigo que fala sobre o laptop mode que é o que gerencia esse tipo de coisa, mas como sou leigo não consegui identificar como resolver o meu problema.. É um ponto de acesso D-Link configurado como router, ou seja, já tem embutido DHCP + Nat em IPv4. O IPV6 é suportado mas eu não uso. Há duas configurações nesse router: uma para as saídas ethernet e uma para as saídas wi-fi. Deixei o ip desse router como 192.168.0.1, o range para ethernet 192.168.0.3-99/8 e o range para wi-fi 192.168.100-254. O server vai ficar com 192.168.0.2. No fundo o que estou fazendo é transformar um PC em um router 3G-ether e deixar o ponto de acesso distribuir endereços e acesso tanto para os desks quanto para os notes. A pergunta é porque se você estiver realmente usando um roteador tal como o DL524 e similares, você terá dificuldade para acessar o seu servidor (a internet, não). Sem contar que ele costuma degradar a performance do link. Porque isso? Além de simplesmente configurar eu quero aprender, ok? 4.Configure o servidor dhcp do router para faixa de ip do server (eth0 do server com ip fixo) que será distribuídos aos clientes, informe também nas configurações do dhcp que o gateway e o dns é o ip da eth0 do server. Para compartilhar a internet no server, recomendo estes comandos echo 1 /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward iptable -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o ppp0 -j MASQUERADE Já fiz isso, inclusive colocando no rc.local, mas não funcionou. Para configurar o ip estático no server, editar este arquivo /etc/network/interfaces Isso eu ainda não fiz, talvez seja aí o problema, eu editei direto a conexão no NetworkManager. Companheiros, estou tendo problemas em achar algum programa que controle a velocidade da FAN do processador para o Ubuntu Lucid Lynx. Gostaria de saber se alguém tem uma solução ou dica para me dar. Minha placa mãe é uma asus M4A785TD-V EVO e é quem comanda a Fan, no Ruindows tenho como controlar sua velocidade, não consigo crer que no UBUNTU eu não teria o mesmo auxilio. Opa André.. Na verdade, ela tá exigindo o máximo da ventoinha, o que não é necessário, uma vez que no Windows ela funciona com menor rotação no auto detect. Salve!! Estou com uma duvida em relação ao envio de e-mails com o evolution. Tenho 3 contas de e-mail. Consegui criar 3 contas diferentes e recebo todos os e-mails no Evolution. O problema é na hora de enviar. Sei que estou errando alguma configuração, mas não imagino o que seja. Minha conta principal é a do gmail e a partir dela consigo enviar, mas as outras duas são do hotmail. Recebem, mas não enviam. O tipo do servidor do hotmail é SMTP. O servidor é smtp.live.com. A criptografia é SSL. Autenticação PLAIN. Alguma luz?? Why on earth do you have log files on a ram disk? if something goes bad and you get a reboot, you loose the logs. Now, if you really want them on the ram disk, script up so that the needed directories will be created. This isn't a bug, it's a design issue. Confirming this affects a Hardy LTS ? Lucid LTS upgrade.
The symptoms are that after the upgrade IMAP4 clients cannot connect to
the server, but there are few clues.
After sorting out the other issues caused by the upgrade such as
pointing dovecot to the /etc/ssl/certs/$CERT.{pem,key} I hit this one.
Nothing at all was appearing in /var/log/dovecot.log about connections.
There were entries showing the dovecot processes were starting, and ps
-ef A grep dovecot showed they were running.
I enabled auth_debug = yes but no clues appeared.
Then I check the network connections and noticed there were no IPv4
sockets being used:
sudo -i
netstat -tlnp | grep dovecot
tcp6 0 0 :::993 :::*LISTEN
7933/dovecot
tcp6 0 0 :::995 :::*LISTEN
7933/dovecot
tcp6 0 0 :::110 :::*LISTEN

Looking in the unedited /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf inherited from Hardy
I found:
listen = [::]
In the comments above that is the clue to the solution:
[::] listens in all IPv6 interfaces, but may also listen in all IPv4
# interfaces depending on the operating system.
It seems that on Hardy that it would listen on both IPv6 and IPv4
sockets, but now it is more specific.
I changed it to:
listen = *
Restarting dovecot solved the problem and clients connected once more.

Dans le cas contraire, c'est inutile. La PREMIERE chose à faire est évidemment de tester avec l'éditeur de configuration si les clefs adéquates sont bien cochées. La clef se met à clignoter ce qui laisse penser qu'elle est bien connectée et alimentée, mais n'apparaît ni sur le bureau Gnome Ni dans les racourcis disponibles par le menu éponyme. Comme j'ai aussi un souci de crashes de Firefox je pense que je vais refaire une install propre en ordre pour repartir sur une base saine dans laquelle je restaurerai mes données pour le courriel et les documents mais sans rien conserver des fichiers de configuration antérieurs. Problème avec grub.
Bonjour, Suite à une installation d'une 10.04 LTS à l'aide d'un CD, j'ai le message suivant au démarrage: error: no such device: 35c05b2e-16e1-4dc9-b216-88ebdbc83bdd puis j'ai un prompt: grub rescue J'ai jeté un oeil dans le setup au démarrage pour les disques durs, je n'ai rien remarqué de particulier si ce n'est que dans la liste de boot, à la 2ème rubrique (Hard disk), j'ai le choix entre disable et none. Les clés marchent impec ailleurs. Peut-être la machine ou le port ? Dans ce cas de figure un problème matériel est tout à fait envisageable. Cela peut venir d'un bus usb endommagé ou d'une alim qui commence à fatiguer (la clé étant hors de cause). Cela pourrait être un bug logiciel ... un indice serait que ce problème soit apparu juste après une mise à jour de noyau (au reboot suivant en fait). Public bug reported: I installed Kubuntu 9.10, upgraded to 10.04, installed many gnome packages, chose the Gnome desktop at the log-in, and worked a few days with Gnome. Then suddenly the titlebars of all windows disappeared and all windows are maximized (even the small windows e.g. for asking for a password or so). Neither logging-out and re-logging-in nor restarting the computer solved this problem. Then I logged in into KDE again but also in KDE all title bars disappeared and all windows are maximized. Any known workarounds for this? I have a series of student papers with many embedded images that simply won't be processed by pdftops. Well, I've waited an hour for a 3MB PDF to be processed, and my CPU is still near 100%.
