This looks like it might be getting work done on it? But not sure since no
one is assigned. I added a server backlog just in-case it doesn't get
missed since this is an important issue (even if it's with systemd).

pad.lv/2074309 | upgrade 22.04 -> 24.04 won't start due to feature flags |
This one is a doozie. I picked it up and made it so u-r-u blocks upgrade if
rabbitmq-server is installed. I need to work on the documentation on how to
handle an upgrade properly. This also sparks some questions on how we
should maintain rabbitmq-server going forward.

pad.lv/1887558 | multipathd bcache disks do not get picked up by

I'm working on this one. Getting upstream involved, since I imagine
bcachefs will have to account for multipathing as well.

potential issue on upgrade? A user reported that when upgrading from mint

This one was a fun read. It looks like it should be all fixed by now, but
has been pinged because it was set to affect the linux package which
doesn't seem correct. I set all the linux package releases to Won't Fix,
thus closing the bug.

We should probably remove the installation of the Sys V init scripts in the

This bug has apparently been fixed since 2015 by redhat, but was never
included upstream, and therefore has been dormant in our codebase for a
while. I asked to confirm what version the user is impacted by, but
otherwise it seems like it could be a patch on a plate.

I'm just not sure why this patch was not upstreamed.

This is a new feature in the newly updated byobu. I helped fix a bug with
it when this first came out
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/byobu/+bug/2051995

There is a timer prepended to your terminal prompt by default, which
displays how long the previous command took.

You can reproduce it by opening an lxc container and creating a user (in
2051995 I
explain why you need a regular user).

I can update the new bug report with this information if you want.

New bug stating that tmux will stall when zooming into the active pane. I
tried to reproduce on a noble laptop, noble container, noble VM on AWS EC2

pad.lv/2056372 | Enabling SPF checks with CHECK_RCPT_SPF doesn't work
I tried making a quick dep8 test for this scenario as we will be holding a
debian diff now. I tried setting up a system to test SPF checks and
couldn't seem to get it working

Does anyone have a working setup who can share some tips? I also tried
following the steps at https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1998678 but was not
successful in seeing the `Received-SPF` results in the header, I think that
local systems are getting whitelisted and it's just not doing the
authentication.

This one looks like some low hanging fruit, but just haven't been accepted
upstream yet. With FF happening I mentioned that I don't think this will
make it in, so made a PPA with the changes for users to test out in the
meantime.

pad.lv/2062058 | Add a UFW firewall config to support QUIC
This is a feature request to add QUIC support. The report states this is
added in nginx 1.25 whereas we/Debian are on 1.24. I added tags to track
this in the next cycle, hopefully Debian has 1.25 and has already addressed
this bug so we can just sync it.

Set as won't fix since i386 is not an officially supported architecture and
the discussion died on this bug. Mentioned to comment if it is still
desired to be fixed.

pad.lv/1508131 | Impossible to login once libpam-smbpass got installed |
Older bug saying login is slow/impossible once you install libpam-smbpass.
This package has not been available since Xenial and there hasn't been a
discussion on it since 2022. Therefore, I closed this bug as Won't Fix and
mentioned to comment if it should be reopened.

pad.lv/1993837 | apparmor profile libvirt-qemu is too permissive |
This one is interesting, it's a request to harden the libvirt apparmor
profile. We just pull the profile from upstream, so I recommended that the
reporter file a bug upstream.

This got dropped from server-todo and has been untouched without a reason

I see Sergio is very active here, just wanted to try reproduction for the
recent proftpd errors mentioned. I could not reproduce as well, so asked
the users if they know what aws AMI they used, which could be important in
reproduction.

Also added that the various packages probably have different failures, but
just a similar failure signature.

pad.lv/2054301 | [worker/event] Some child processes aren't killed on

There's a lot going on in this thread, and it's pointing towards the user
using a different php package. I mentioned that it'd be nice for the user
to try php 8.1.2-1ubuntu2.14
 from our
archives and see if the issue still persists.

pad.lv/2054616 | The systemd service for NBD Client doesn't come up on boot
I played around a bit with the nbd-client systemd unit file and put some
findings that may help debug.

I asked a question to the debian maintainer in our bug report to see what
the expected behavior should look like.

pad.lv/720638 | snmpd crashes with segfault (libnetsnmpmibs.so.15.1.2)
Spent a bit of time digging into this. I think I found the patch that is
supposed to fix this issue, but it unfortunately did not apply cleanly for
Jammy. Nevertheless, I made a PPA with the parts of the patch that does
apply in hopes that it can fix the issue for users.

LP: #2011721
| GPS position information doesn't update beyond a first fix
Mantic seems to work, so the goal now is to find exactly which commit(s)
fix this issue for Lunar->Focal. The commit set is pretty massive between
Lunar->Mantic so I asked one of the affected users if they are okay
building a slightly newer commit than in Lunar to see if that fixes the
issue, which will narrow down the commit range greatly.

sdl2-config can fail when using clang over gcc
Debian provided a fix to their patch. I started a build with the updated
debian patch and asked the submitter to confirm it fixes it. I tried

configured something else wrong, or there was a pre-req I missed.

Asked the user if they could play regular h264 encoded mp4 files with
ffplay. Could be an issue with h264_v4l2m2m specifically. I ran a quick
test in an amd64 mantic VM and confirmed regular h264 encoded files play
fine.

LP: #2039752
 | package
openssh-server 1:9.0p1-1ubuntu8.5 failed to install…
I tried to reproduce this failure in lunar, and I found one case that
caused a similar failure. This is because tinysshd.socket was using port 22
so when openssh-server.postinst tried to restart ssh.socket it failed due
to resource constraints (port22 used being the constraint).

Maybe in the future openssh-server should check that port 22 is being used
by ssh and not another utility like tinysshd before attempting to restart
the socket?

Requesting Ubuntu package manager to release openssh update…
This bug is requesting for openssh to be upgraded in Jammy/Focal to 9.4+
(currently on 8.9) to support OpenSSL 3.1.2 (currently 3.0.2 on Jammy).

The bug mentions a specific commit in openssh upstream that might make it
work, and I tried building with that commit. It built fine, but failed one
of the tests. This is mainly to help the user unblock them, and I wasn't
planning on SRUing this.

I think this is something we don't want to support because there are
major version differences, but I'd like another opinion on it before I say
for sure no. It sounds nice to have newer openssh versions, but I
understand that's not a simple task.

update fails on cloud server (invoke-rc.d restart failed) w…
There is an issue where multipathd doesn't restart on upgrade, I'm actively
working on a solution and testing it.

LP: #2030351
| /etc/default/quota RPCQUOTAOPTS=Not Working
Issue was with not bounding a variable with quotes. Thanks @Paride Legovini
for that! I set the bug to Fix Released
due to the user confirming the change works. Let me know if it should stay
open.

LP: #2033565
| ksmd should be opt-in rather than opt-out
This is a bug report spawning off of another bug LP: #2032933
 which had an update
recently. I added a link to the original bug noting there's an update to
see if that is good enough to resolve this bug report.

I forgot to re-tag this one as server-todo last time after it was
re-opened, so I did that now.
LP: #2007055
| cifs/samba mount not preserving file timestamps
A new user is seeing strange behavior with atime/ctime/mtime in that each
time doesn't consistently update the same when repeating the copy
operations. User is using Mint and writing to a Netgear RN2. I asked the
user to try and reproduce in vms/lxc containers as that'd help out with
debugging because I don't have the time to set that up right now. My hunch
is it's maybe some configuration issue, but it's weird that the behavior is
inconsistent.

Set to Incomplete, possible duplicate of LP: #1772705

LP: #2007055
| cifs/samba mount not preserving file timestamps
Reopened as a new user is seeing issue again. First user who reported the
issue said the problem went away so the bug was closed. Setting to
incomplete while having a discussion with the new user.

LP: #2024206
 | Missing
SFP Data in ethtool
Set to incomplete, tested potential fix in a PPA made by @Lena Voytek
and noticed failure still occurred with the
Jammy packages-so the bug exists in my environment. Asking for users to
confirm if they are still affected as the bug recently expired due to
inactivity.

LP: #2024540
 |
Vulnerability Can Gain Access
Bug recently expired. Contacted the security team to see if they meant to
drop.

LP: #2025046
 |
package rabbitmq-server 3.8.2-0ubuntu1.4 failed to install/…
Expired while waiting for the user to provide more information. Nothing to
do.

LP: #2028124
| apt dist-upgrade does not restart package qemu-guest-agent
Needs work. This issue is fixed in Mantic now. Need to determine if an SRU
is worth it. A user recently mentioned a non-trivial issue due to this bug
when interacting with terraform that could justify an SRU.

LP: #2031619
| Samba multi-channel multi-connection race condition
Needs work. Bug fixed in Mantic due to recent merge. Need to determine if
bug is a good SRU candidate for Lunar.

LP: #2033047
| exim4-config needs option to set message_linelength_limit
Asked the user for more information.

Last update was to add server-todo. Need to assign to someone. @Michał
Małoszewski mentioned work in progress,
so could be an update there.

LP: #1976361
 | man
page “passes the buck” to a dead end for .netrc docs
This bug should be worked on again. Last worked on by @Michał Małoszewski
 but dropped.
