[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 402178] [NEW] gzopen64 implicitly converted to pointer
Public bug reported: Function `gzopen64' implicitly converted to pointer at ../../src/common_device_name.c:62 Our automated build log filter[1] detected the problem(s) above that will likely cause your package to segfault on 64-bit architectures (where the size of a pointer is greater than the size of an integer.) This is often due to a missing function prototype definition. For more information, see [2]. Since use of implicitly converted pointers is always (eventually and/or itermittantly) fatal to the application, they are errors. Please correct them for your next upload. This is seen on some G41 systems, where the BIOS will consume all but a few KB of the aperture. This should be bad for all operating systems, as it means that the OS can't dynamically manage memory between graphics and the rest of the system, and OSes that did static memory management statically add memory in addition to the BIOS allocation anyway. Three days ago, out of the blue, when attempting to open TuxMath, the screen briefly goes black, closes all open applications, and then displays the login screen. I have the system setup up to automatically log in at boot and just enter the passwords for admin and network privledges. After the login screen comes up, I leave it blank and hit enter, and it brings up the normal desktop, as if it were a fresh boot. No applications are open and my network connection get reestablished. I upgraded to OpenOffice 3.0 about a week before this issue started, and TuxMath was working fine. I have made no changes, other than recommended updates, at the time the issue started. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 402777] [NEW] Monitor turns off on incorrect events
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg I'm not quite aware of which package this should be reported against, so I am reporting it again xorg in the hopes that someone will come along and re-assign it properly. Thanks! Ever since upgrading to Karmic, I've been having sporadic problems with my monitor turning off at inappropriate times. Test case: Switching to a tty session, and then switching back to tty7. Immediately after, the monitor will blank. Moving the mouse will wake up the monitor again. This is reproducible for me, every time. I've also experienced it once or twice when I've accidentally let my laptop power cord unplug. The switch from AC to battery power seems to have triggered an event, and the monitor turned off. The following events occur in my system log whenever the monitor turns off: Jul 21 19:13:55 julian-4 acpid: client 3279[0:0] has disconnected Jul 21 19:13:55 julian-4 acpid: client connected from 3279[0:0] ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Tue Jul 21 19:09:56 2009 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 Lsusb: Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub MachineType: Dell Inc. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 314600] Re: [HD 3650] fglrx versions newer than 8.543 cause system hang and panic
While further attempts to patch this issue are undertaken, is there any way, other than removing the card and accessing shell through the onboard video to implement the test/install/make changes? I often get tired of taking the card in and out to test updates and would wlecome a workaround just to be able to access a command prompt without the kernel panic, I'm using the machine as a server, but eventually want to use the card so I can have a gui desktop interface. -- [HD 3650] fglrx versions newer than 8.543 cause system hang and panic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/314600 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 382864] Re: xrandr cycling is all messed up with KMS
Sorry for not following up sooner, took a bit before I was rebooted without KMS, which I needed to do in order to show this is not (entirely) a gnome-settings-daemon issue. Here's the output of xrandr *without* KMS: $ xrandr Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1680 x 1050, maximum 2048 x 2048 VGA connected 1680x1050+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 473mm x 296mm 1680x1050 60.0*+ 1280x1024 75.0 60.0 1440x900 75.0 59.9 1280x960 60.0 1280x800 59.8 1152x864 75.0 1024x768 75.0 70.1 60.0 832x62474.6 800x60072.2 75.0 60.3 56.2 640x48075.0 72.8 66.7 59.9 720x40070.1 LVDS connected 1280x800+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 331mm x 207mm 1280x800 60.0*+ 50.0 1024x768 85.0 75.0 70.1 60.0 832x62474.6 800x60085.1 72.2 75.0 60.3 56.2 640x48085.0 72.8 75.0 59.9 720x40085.0 640x40085.1 640x35085.1 TMDS-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) $ Note the significantly increased number of available modes (4 extra modes for the VGA, and 4 extra modes for the LVDS), significantly, including the maximum LVDS resolution as one of the supported VGA resolutions. So perhaps that's a kernel bug rather than an X driver bug, but it's not a gnome-settings-daemon bug. ** Package changed: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) = xserver-xorg-video- intel (Ubuntu) -- xrandr cycling is all messed up with KMS https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/382864 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is the registrant for xf86-video-intel. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
