[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 653021] Re: Mouse's left button stops working.
Ditto on Maverick. Left mouse button fails after a few seconds of playing music or video on either totem or rhythmbox (Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01) sound, in case that helps). Using keyboard with integrated touch pad, neither the left-hand mouse button nor tapping the touch pad itself work. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 665446] [NEW] Default/XVideo display overwrites on top of other windows decorations.
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: vlc This bug showed up after I upgraded to Maverick today. The default video output (XVideo) shows a video frame that overwrites other windows as well as VLC's own pop-down menus. Whichever the default output was in Lucid, worked just fine. Fortunately, the X11 video output doesn't have any problems, so choosing that output is a good workaround for now. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 660596] Re: Black screen after installing Nvidia drivers on 10.10
I can confirm I have this exact same problem. I have an Nvidia 9800GT 512MB. When I install the proprietary driver, I restart. Before it gets to the Ubuntu loading screen the screen goes completely black! I have tried it at least 5 times and its still the same result. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 665513] [NEW] Xorg freeze after turning screens on/off
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 64bit (Linux gege-laptop 2.6.35-22-generic #35-Ubuntu SMP Sat Oct 16 20:45:36 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux) on a Lenovo SL500. I have a Philips external screen attached, and normally just that screen is turned on, the laptop's built in one is turned off. Assume I have Firefox already opened. If I go to Screen settings and turn on and then off my laptop screen (all panels are on the external monitor, so my laptop has just a plain background), then Firefox on the external screen does the following: If I want to change tabs by clicking to them, I see the window title changing, but the actual tabs contents are not refreshed (similar thing is with scrolling the window). This happens until I minimize FF to the tray and and maximize again (also by mouse click). Then the tab contents that should have appeared earlier finally get shown. The same thing is reproducible with VirtualBox (screen contents don't get refreshed on actions until minimizing and maximizing), and it seems the crucial point is turning off the laptop screen (turning it on doesn't invoke the bug). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 665513] Re: Xorg freeze after turning screens on/off
** Description changed: Binary package hint: xorg I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 64bit (Linux gege-laptop 2.6.35-22-generic #35-Ubuntu SMP Sat Oct 16 20:45:36 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux) on a Lenovo SL500. I have a Philips external screen attached, and normally just that screen is turned on, the laptop's built in one is turned off. Assume I have Firefox already opened. If I go to Screen settings and turn on and then off my laptop screen (all panels are on the external monitor, so my laptop has just a plain background), then Firefox on the external screen does the following: - If I want to change tabs by clicking to them, I see the window title changing, but the actual tabs contents are not refreshed. This happens until I minimize FF to the tray and and maximize again (also by mouse click). Then the tab contents that should have appeared earlier finally get shown. - The similar thing happened with Netbeans and also VirtualBox (mouse clicks have effect, but window contents don't get refreshed), but now I managed to reproduce it with FF. + If I want to change tabs by clicking to them, I see the window title changing, but the actual tabs contents are not refreshed (similar thing is with scrolling the window). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 665520] [NEW] Xorg focus problems after automatic screen lock
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg When I turn off a screen lock that was invoked on a screensaver timeout the following things happen: * If a Firefox window is on the top of the screen, typing to the address bar doesn't invoke auto-completion. * If I have a Skype chat window open on top, then I can't type a new message to it (it not just doesn't appear, it also doesn't get inserted) Both problems get fixed if I minimize the program to tray, and open it again (Firefox address auto-completion works and in Skype's case I can type a message). The bug can be reproduced just for the program that was on top (ie. if Skype was on top, and FF behind, then autocompletion works). It seems that the focus somehow is taken away (partly or totally) for the top application. I have to note that if I lock the screen manually then the bug also cannot be reproduced. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 626974] Re: ABI change in xorg 1.9 breaks legacy nvidia-96 drivers in Maverick
The nouveau hardware accelerated 3-d driver works fairly well in Maverick on my GeForce 4 MX 4000 card. Googleearth works pretty much as it did with the proprietary driver, including 3-d buildings, except that when the view moves close to horizontal and the horizon comes into view, the photographic view of the earth sometimes suddenly disappears. Otherwise, the 3-d effect works fine. Stellarium works at the same speed as with the proprietary driver, but the sunlight illumination doesn't appear on the planets (i.e., they appear in shadow from all sides). Foobillard billiards simulation game works fine except that there's an annoying moving shadow pattern on the table top. I haven't had any crashes. I can't turn on desktop effects--I get the message that I need the proprietary driver. According to the nouveau website, if you've got an nvidia card with a nv30 or later chip and want to try the 3-d hardware accelerated driver, you need nouveau_dri.so driver, which is in the libgl1-mesa-dri- experimental package in maverick universe. If you've got a nv20 or earlier chip, you need nouveau_vieux_dri.so, which seems to have been removed from the maverick repositories before final release, but I got it from the xorg-edgers ppa maverick repository. It's in the libgl1 -mesa-dri package (not the experimental package). All I did was add the repository, update the package, shutdown the power and reboot. In order to determine whether you need the nouveau_dri or the nouveau_vieux_dri driver, consult the table at: http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/CodeNames -- ABI change in xorg 1.9 breaks legacy nvidia-96 drivers in Maverick https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/626974 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
