[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2008053] [NEW] Screen corruption and laggy mouse cursor in lower quarter of screen
Public bug reported: After a software upgrade yesterday, I see screen glitches and a "stumbling" mouse cursor whenever I move the mouse in the lower quarter of my laptop screen. When I have connected an external display, the external display doesn't show any issues, but the problem remains on the laptop screen. (This is my first bug report and I used the "ubuntu-bug" utility to collect the necessary data. I hope it is attached here somewhere.) [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1811863] Re: [amdgpu + nvidia PCI passthrough] Screen flickering on ultra wide
I have the flickering problem with 2560x1440 screens, AMD Radeon RX 550. tried it on two screens: asus and samsung. asus is capable of freesync, samsung not. asus can handle higher frequency, samsung 50Hz only. On samsung it works without any problems. On asus monitor I have the same flickering problem on 75Hz, switching down to 60Hz solves the problem. I'm on Ubuntu 18.10, kernel 4.18.0-16. - with very intense flickering. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1772537] [NEW] Wrong combining sequence in Compose for the Finnish locale
Public bug reported: The Compose file for the fi_FI.UTF-8 locale at /usr/share/X11/locale/fi_FI.UTF-8/Compose contains the following lines: : "Ệ" U1EC6 # LATIN CAPITAL LETTER E WITH CIRCUMFLEX AND ACUTE : "Ệ" U1EC6 # LATIN CAPITAL LETTER E WITH CIRCUMFLEX AND DOT BELOW Thus the codepoint "Ệ" U1EC6 is produced with two different sequences. Based on the key sequences and the comments at the ends of the lines, it is clear that the first line is a mistake. Instead of "Ệ" U1EC6, the line should read "Ế" U1EBE, a character which cannot be produced with the current Compose file otherwise at all. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1765189] [NEW] Partial User Interface freeze
Public bug reported: I have a Dell Precision 5520 and experience the following problem: After a resume from suspend, I have problems with my keyboard and touchpad: At the password screen everything is working fine, I can click on the password field and enter my password. Then when the screen is unlocked, I can move the mouse cursor, and clicks on the top menu, e.g. on the network button or the shutdown button work perfectly, but a click on an open window like a terminal or on firefox does not give focus to the window and I cannot write into the terminal. Also, shortcuts like the Windows key or Windows+tab key are not working. I can only solve this by rebooting. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1464514] [NEW] xrandr 1.4.1 doesn't set external display position correctly when using --right-of to scaled laptop display

Same on my XPS-13 9343 with i7-5500U and identical graphics card. I tried xorg-edgers, but no improvement (xorg-video-intel is version 2.99.917 there), it shows the same behaviour. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 755433] [NEW] [Natty beta1] Nvidia tvout has problems with fullscreen (270.30)
Public bug reported: I am using Ubuntu Natty beta1 with the proprietary nvidia-drivers 270.30 which I installed over the additional drivers menu. I have a tv on the second output and configured it as seperate xscreen in the nvidia xserver settings. On 10.10 I did exactly the same and used to play videos with commands like DISPLAY=:0.1 mplayer -fs video.avi and the video was in fullscreen on my tv. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 673402] [NEW] System unresponsive few minutes after boot
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg I did a fresh install of 10.10 when it came out, and this began. I never had this problem with 10.04. The problem is, when booting (either cold booting or waking from standby), the system works fine for some time, usually from 5 to 20 minutes. Then, the mouse pointer starts lagging at best, and is almost unmovable at worst (I can move the physical mouse, and the pointer responds with tiny movements 15 seconds later). It's not just the mouse pointer, I cannot switch applications, scroll in the browser, open new applications etc. It doesn't totally freeze, it's just awfully slow and unusable. It's as if the system is under very, very heavy load. This goes on for 1-5 minutes, after which everything is back to normal. At _every_ boot. I have no idea if this is X-related, or something entirely else. I have tried to have the htop program run in the background, but I see no process with heavy load. Help would be appreciated. :) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: xorg 1:7.5+6ubuntu3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-22.35-generic 2.6.35.4 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-22-generic i686 Architecture: i386 DRM.card0.DisplayPort.1: status: disconnected enabled: disabled dpms: Off modes: edid-base64: DRM.card0.DisplayPort.2: status: disconnected enabled: disabled dpms: Off modes: edid-base64: DRM.card0.HDMI_Type_A.1: status: disconnected enabled: disabled dpms: Off modes: edid-base64: DRM.card0.LVDS.1: status: connected enabled: enabled dpms: On modes: 1280x800 edid-base64: AP///wAwrnFSAQOAHRJ46qLVlllWjSYfUFQBAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBGh0A5lAgFzAwIDYAHrMQAAAYRhgA5lAgFzAwIDYAHrMQAAAYDwCBCjKBCigeCQAyDEcB/gBMUDEzM1dYMi1UTEQxAME= DRM.card0.VGA.1: status: disconnected enabled: disabled dpms: Off modes: edid-base64: Date: Wed Nov 10 09:26:37 2010 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat - Release i386 (20101007) MachineType: LENOVO 2738L2G ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-2.6.35-22-generic root=/dev/mapper/hostname-root ro quiet splash ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_DK.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: xorg Symptom: display Title: Xorg freeze dmi.bios.date: 08/26/2009 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: 6AET59WW dmi.board.asset.tag: ATN12345678901234567 dmi.board.name: 2738L2G dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: LENOVO 6AET59WW dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: LENOVO 6AET59WW dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr6AET59WW:bd08/26/2009:svnLENOVO:pn2738L2G:pvrThinkPadSL300:rvnLENOVO:rn2738L2G:rvrLENOVO6AET59WW:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrLENOVO6AET59WW: dmi.product.name: 2738L2G dmi.product.version: ThinkPad SL300 dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO glxinfo: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory system: distro: Ubuntu codename: maverick architecture: i686 kernel: 2.6.35-22-generic ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug freeze i386 maverick -- System unresponsive few minutes after boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/673402 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Even restarting without power off does not help. I don't know if the presence of the unused NVIDIA 8200 graphics adapter matters. But as it is on-board, I cannot remove it. It is unused because this special graphics chip is known to cause lots of trouble with Linux. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 494699] Re: Does not support current Lucid kernel (2.6.32) or xserver (1.7)
@SolidSlash #21: I guess you have the same problem as I had: fglrx conflicts with the radeon kernel module. You have to add nomodeset or radeon.setmode=0 to your kernel options, i.e. get into GRUB, edit the parameters for recovery mode and add it manually to the kernel line. After getting into a root console, add the parameters to the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT variable in /etc/default/grub . After that, run update-grub and reboot. -- Does not support current Lucid kernel (2.6.32) or xserver (1.7) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/494699 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

The 2:8.721-0ubuntu2 package for amd64 is missing the /usr/lib/fglrx/ld.so.conf and thus it doesn't configure correctly. You can fix this for now by creating that file with the contents /usr/lib/fglrx (without quotes) and then doing a dpkg --configure -a. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 519550] [NEW] Black screen after upgrade from 9.04
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg After upgrading to 10.04 alpha 2 just an hour ago, the system is inaccessible for me. After the boot process finishes: - the sound at the beginning is played - black screen - unmovable cursor in the center (and was movable on the first boot but not in subsequent ones?) - blinking cursor (underscore) in the top left corner - whenever I press a key, funny characters are written on the screen; every key-press and release generates (different) characters on screen (alt, shift, tab, enter, a, b, c, etc.; but e.g. they do not show their letters). When selecting the kernel from grub, there's no output with any kind of information to me. There are only two lines presented all the time and suddenly the screen goes into the aforementioned state.
