Hi Greg,
I made a fresh image with default setting did a bunch of tests. Have
established that it plays just fine on a model b (both via ethernet and
wifi). The model A+ seems to be the problem as cutting out again. I have
checked and my wifi dongle seems to be supported (TP Link 725N). I will
try another dongle and see if that helps. Thanks for the help so far
though
Cheers,
Rob

I use PogoPlug E02 armv5 units running Squeezelite as my players,
connected to a couple of Wyred4Sound DAC-2s, a Peachtree X1 for my SPDIF
DAC, and several HiFiMe U2 DACs. I do still use my old Squeezebox
Controllers, so I do technically still have some Logitech hardware, but
not in the audio path at all these days.

Hi Greg,
Yes I started with that version and have tried 1.17 and 1.18 as well. I
am streaming Spotify (160k) which is very bad as well as mp3's from a
Samba Share which is marginally better. I tried the same setup on a
model B with same result. As mentioned squeezelite on a different image
works fine, very strange as picoreplayer I would imagine would be far
less hungry on any resources...
Thanks,

Hi southafricanrob,

I assume you are using an Ethernet cable and DHCP. Can you make a fresh
piCorePlayer1.18b image and boot? Do not make any settings changes or
use an existing configuration file. Listen to the Analog out via
earbuds/headphones. This is the first check I always make.

Hi retrohunter,

I think you need to get LCDProc packaged for piCore (Tiny Core Linux).
It is best to ask over on the Tiny Core forum
http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/

piCorePlayer is a designed to be a small distribution adding things like
perl or python would increase the size of the distribution
significantly.

BTW: We are gradually adding some basic CLI LMS functions to
piCorePlayer using shell.

I thought it may be but just but an SD card in with pimusicbox image
with squeezelite installed and plays just fine. The slight hissing is
still there but the constant hanging and stuttering gone. Makes me thing
it must be some sort of ALSA config thing...

Well, then you need another router behind that one to handle those VPN

on other devices, too, you just have to be careful that you will of
course have to route all that to your local network, too.

I just noticed this 'ALSA: dedicated devices for HDMI and analog
audio' (https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/847) on Pi github
issues list. Which hopefully means popcornmix will modify the Pi alsa
driver so you can use both outputs simultaneously rather than having to
flip the "routing" switch and be restricted to one or the other, at some
point in the future.

Steen,

Original berry DAC didn't implement volume control via I2C for PCM5102,
but I thought berry-dacplus (PCM5122) did Not that I own a
berry-dacplus, just remembering that I'm sure overlay for it enables
i2c1 And on the basis that IQ and Berry+ are using the PCM5122 codec
with I2C enabled, I'd expect to see an Alsa mixer control for both, if
it's there for the IQ DAC.

123pi wrote:
> Thanks! It appears I should have read the instructions mor carefully.

Hi
For the RPi A model I will suggest that you change the newconfig.cfg
file which you can download from here:

Then change these three variables
SSID=""
PASSWORD=""
ENCRYPTION="WPA"

valid options for "Encryption" are:
"WPA"     means WPA or WPA2
"WEP"     means WEP
"OPEN"  ..means Open (No Encyrption)

So this part should look like this:
SSID="Nameofyournetwork"
PASSWORD="Password"
ENCRYPTION="WPA"

Next save this file as newconfig.cfg
***

In order to use a RPi A board you will burn piCorePlayer to a SD-card
and then copy the newly changed newconfig.cfg file to the SD-card (if
using a windows computer it will be saved at the correct partition) If
using a linux computer it should be copied to the boot partition which
is the /mnt/mmcblk0p1 partition.

Then insert the SD-card in the RPi A and boot.
Now piCorePlayer should automatically use the wifi information you have
provided and it should turn up on your network.

This method is only needed for the first boot (or if you somehow break
the wifi connection by providing wrong wifi info at a later stage).
Now you can access the config page via a web-browser from another
computer on your network.
