Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 3.5.0
I have multiple pi's running picoreplayer 3.2 and have had this problem in the past. I'm currently trying to setup a new pi3 model B with a Hifiberry DAC+ with a 5v 2.5A power adapter (canakit). LMS is running on a dedicated windows 10 machine and player is connected via ethernet. After I flash the microSD card with 3.5 (and I've tried 3.22 and 3.2) I am able to access the GUI and change to the hifiberry dac as audio. The player reboots quickly. After I change the settings in squeezelite -- changing the name of the player and putting in the lms address, I can no longer get back into the gui after a reboot or restart. I should say the sometimes the pages do load, but it takes 5-10 minutes or longer. I have unplugged and replugged the device. The player is visible on LMS and does play music. I have tried to access the setup menu via putty. When I type in the picoreplayer command after logging in I get the error message "tc@piCorePlayer:~$ -sh: picoreplayer: not found". Any idea why this is happening? Last time I think it was related to a weak power adapter. How do I access the setup options via SSH? Thanks for any suggestions. jbraveman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16943 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108852 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 2.00
I have 3 players and only one has this problem. It is a Raspberry pi 2 running picoreplayer 2.05. It had this problem on previous versions of picoreplayer. I'm not using it as a server. It is connected to the server via ethernet. I'm using the hifiberry digi+ for audio output. The device performs great for the most part. However, on occasion it will stop playing suddenly. The device then is not reachable on the network via it's ip address. It also disappears from the LMS menu. I'm running Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.0 - 1436858598 @ Wed Jul 15 04:04:13 CUT 2015 on a Windows 7 machine. Can someone direct me to a log file that might show me where the problem is. I also don't have logging turned on. I'm not sure what level of logging is needed to sort this problem out. Thanks. There is a message on the actual player video output display that says : crond[565] time disparity.detected. Will an error pop up here as well if it crashes? I am using a Squeezebox duet and recently I can not view the albums listing in the web gui. All other items display fine. When I try the album view in the web gui after about 3 mins the browser stops and the left pane disappears (see attachment). The album view IS available on the duet controller. I know that the album view worked on my older server, a dell gx-50/8.04. This may be a new change since I upgraded the server and moved to 9.04. Everything else works. Music plays and the other menu items are fine. I have been running 9.04 on a via epai cn board with 1 gig of ram for a couple weeks now with no issues. Everything is wired to linksys router. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Setting up squeezecenter in Ubuntu 8.1
I'd like to thank everyone for their suggestions. Being an linux newbie this process was slightly painful. Fortunately, I've got everything up and running. I went back and did a fresh install of 8.04. My rationale is that most of the documentation on the web is geared toward this version. I immediately installed all of the updates. I used these instructions to mount my freenas shares: http://thatsquality.com/linux/mounting-windows-smb-file-shares-using-cifs The wiki on this topic is about the same, but difficult for me to understand. Using the file browser I right clicked on these newly mounted shares and was able to create working symlinks, which I copied to my music folder. I installed squeezecenter with these instructions: http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/DebianPackage I used the testing main option and 7.3.2 (24460) got installed. It ran and played music perfectly. Scanned all of my files (about 32k). Even my 24/96 flacs played. The only residual issue is that the machine hangs when it restarts. Apparently this is a known issue with unmounting of the cifs volumes. I setup desktop remote and can get in with VNC from my vista lappy. The squeezecenter menu is available also through port 9000. The last step is to unplug the montior and keyboard and tuck it away. I'm a little nervous it will stop working after I move it. There is also a squeezecenter update waiting to be downloaded. I'm not sure I will until something stops working. The squeezebox is better than I expected and this process has been totally worth it. -- jbraveman jbraveman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16943 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=57502 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Setting up squeezecenter in Ubuntu 8.1
Thanks for the help. Links were created sucessfully but I'm not sure they work. Squeezecenter doesn't scan them. When I click on the link it itinally says that the link is broken, but then says it's opening. It never opens, but just hangs. The file browser is broken again and doesn't see the other network computers. However, I am able to bring up the freenas drives using the connect to server function. I had trouble connecting to to squeezecenter and was getting browser time outs and page not found errors. I did a clean install as per the instructions on the debian wiki page and that seemed to help that problem. I'm thinking about starting over with a fresh install of 8.1 and figuring out another way to map the freenas drives. I'm guessing the links are broken because the drives are not mounted properly. You will need a separate folder for each mount. sudo mkdir /media/mountname Then edit your /etc/fstab file (you need root privileges) to add this line: //servername/sharename /media/mountname cifs guest,uid=1000,iocharset=utf8,codepage=unicode,unicode 0 0 Where * guest indicates you don't need a password to access the share, * uid=1000 makes the Linux-user with specified uid or username owner of the mounted share, thereby allowing that user to rename files, * the combination iocharset=utf8,codepage=unicode,unicode allows access to files with names in non-English languages. This doesn't work with shares of devices like the Buffalo Tera Station, or Windows machines that export their shares using ISO8895-15. With these the codepage argument has to be codepage=cp850, otherwise characters like the German 'Umlaute' are displayed as garbage. After you added the entry to /etc/fstab type: sudo mount -a I got this: jos...@dell-desktop:~$ sudo mount -a mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on //192.168.1.250/Disk1, missing codepage or helper program, or other error (for several filesystems (e.g. nfs, cifs) you might need a /sbin/mount. helper program) In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so Specific instructions for the freenas would be most appreciated. thx. -- jbraveman jbraveman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16943 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=57502 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix

I will try the other method. 2) sudo apt-get install smbfs - ...Package smbfs is not available. that's the first instruction for most of these guides. It would seem that smbfs is defunct. the freenas can use cifs or nfs as well. There are some additional instructions for cifs which I will try next. thanks for the suggestions. -- jbraveman jbraveman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16943 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=57502 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
[SlimDevices: Unix] Setting up squeezecenter in Ubuntu 8.1
Yesterday I installed Ubunutu 8.1 desktop on a dell GX50 (Celeron 1.2/256mb/20gig). That all went well. I gave the machine a static ip (192.168.1.249) on my network (liksys wrt54g). It connects to the internet. I installed the debian package of 7.3.2 and got this error - Dependency is not satisfiable:mysql-server4.1|mysql-server5.0 1) How do I update this program? 2) All my music is stored on a freenas (0.69RC2 Kralizec (revision 4083)). I can connect to those drives with my vista laptop (CIFS/SMB)easily. When I browse the windows network with the file browser in ubuntu - I cannot see any of the other machines on the network. How to I mount these drives in ubuntu so that squeezecenter can see them once that process is successfully started. Thanks in advance. -- jbraveman jbraveman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16943 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=57502 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Can I use Linux, and which one?
Thanks for the suggestions. I've decided to leave the freenas as is for now. I bought a used Dell GX50 for $35 and I will put ubuntu on it with squeezecenter. I think I can figure out how to access the desktop remotely so that I can adjust the squeezecenter settings as needed. -- jbraveman jbraveman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16943 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=54842 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Can I use Linux, and which one?
I built a box with new, but inexpensive equipment to run freenas with the idea of running squeezecenter on that. Unfortunately I've found out that slimnas and the current AMD versions of freenas don't work. My new hardware is not supported by the older versions of freenas. My other thought was to install ubuntu or something like it on this machine instead. I don't have any linux experience however. How difficult would it be for me to change over? The machine has an AMD64 X2 processor, 2 g of ram, and 3 1 TB SATA drives. I'm running freenas off a usb thumb drive. Things I'd like to do: 1) run it headless 2) run squeeze center 3) bittorrent functions 4) share the drives with my windows and mac machines 5) the drives are formatted as UFS. Would I have to start over? Thanks. -- jbraveman jbraveman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16943 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=54842 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
