Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] BETA: piCorePlayer6.0.0 - PI4 support
Sorry, for the cross-post (original here: https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?112984-Playlist-tracks-duplicated-in-LMS-library-on-PiCorePlayer#post989754), but I haven't received a response after 24 hours and I thought this may be a better place to find some help with this issue... I recently converted from running LMS on a Windows PC to a RPi running PiCorePlayer. I was browsing through the library when I noticed that several albums were duplicated in the Album browse menu. The second of each album listed only has 1 to ~5 tracks showing when I click on them. After looking at 5 or so albums I realized they were usually my favorite tracks and verified that all of the them are saved to static playlists. My guess is that either a setting or the way I have things structured is causing tracks saved to static playlists as duplicates to the ones saved in their primary location. Here is how I have things structured: Media Folders: /mnt/LMSFiles/Tunes Playlists Folder: /mnt/LMSFiles/Playlists I attached a snapshot of the first few lines of one of my playlists as seen in Notepad++ Please let me know if anything stands out that could be the cause of this issue, or if there are any other settings that I should check. Thank you in advance! 31714 +---+ |Filename: playlist text.PNG| |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=31714| +---+ traut's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8407 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110727 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] BETA: piCorePlayer6.0.0 - PI4 support
Fixed after a full re-scan. I've discovered the cause: Although there's only one folder containing the files on the drive, at some point the actual casing of the folder changed due to editing some tags - the folder names I use are generated from the artist and album title tags. As the drive is formatted ExFAT which is case insensitive but case preserving, synching for folder changes caused the new folder name to be detected, whilst the older one was, although not longer there, still a valid name under ExFAT. Ever since adding the files I've only performed a scan for new files and not a full re-scan. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] BETA: piCorePlayer6.0.0 - PI4 support
I'm certain that there's only one copy of each file, as that's the first thing I looked at. I'll double-check, though, in case the process that copied files to the drive somehow went wrong and dumped extra copies of the files somewhere else - the drive was newly set up earlier this week. However if that were to be a problem I'd expect there to be similar issues with other albums, but so far I've not found any. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] BETA: piCorePlayer6.0.0 - PI4 support
I have seen this only once, I'm not an iTunes user so maybe a different issue. I did have a duplicate of the album, but the folder name for the duplicate album was slightly different. Deleted the misspelled folder and contents, did a full rescan and all was well. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] BETA: piCorePlayer6.0.0 - PI4 support
Had an odd issue last night - I noticed that one album had every track duplicated in the track listing, hence everything repeated when played. I'm not sure whether this has always been an issue with this album, but I only acquired it a few months ago. All files are Apple Lossless encoded. Anyone else seen this? I'll take a proper look tonight - I suspect it's a problem with the album's tags. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] BETA: piCorePlayer6.0.0 - PI4 support
That typically means you are selecting a channel or setting that is not allowed in your country. I'll have to add a dependency to get a better view of this. You can download the extension iw.tcz and then run sudo iw list This will show you disabled frequencies, or ones that require other special functions. You can also run sudo iw reg get This will show channels I would avoid channels that require DFS, as the likely need a bunch of extra configuration. There are also reports that AC mode doesn't work with European country codes. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] BETA: piCorePlayer6.0.0 - PI4 support
I'm trying to setup the wireless AP on a Pi4 and it installs everything then when I start the AP it appeared to drop the wired connection. What I've discovered actually happens is upon starting the AP my manually configured static IP settings in LMS get ignored and the pi picks up a DHCP address. If I connect back to the web interface on the newly assigned DHCP address and check the static IP settings under beta functions it still shows as static and has the address I want in there. Strange. So I went back to wifi settings, WAP mode and changed autostart to no then reboot the pi, my static IP works again. Also even when the AP is setup and the console says its started during the boot sequence if i go into the web interface it always says "AP mode not running" and the AP isn't visible when I scan for it. No idea... the chip name doesn't always correspond to the driver needed. We include all the same drivers as Raspbian.you just have to grab the rtc extension. As for a guide, you will need to know some linux commands.you can read info about the Core OS here. http://tinycorelinux.net/faq.html. The challenge with RTC is getting the i2c working. Im now planning to buy an Allo USBridgeSig and have a question regarding if PiCorePlayer supports an wifi dongle. Maybe an Allo wifi dongle is supported? Yes we include the DS1307 driver in our rtc module pack. (you need to manually install that extension) Not sure how long that supercapacitor will last, Not sure I would count on it lasting overnight. There are battery powered boards too. Couple of cautions. RPI i2S cards are also going to connect to the i2C bus, but being a serial bus, it should live fine together, but you may need to so some soldering and such to connect everything to the rpi header. The installation instructions are similar, but different. The piCore OS just works different than raspbian. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. You have 2 options Run a local NTP server, or add a Real time clock to your pi. But even with a RTC, you will need a NTP server or manually logging in occasionally to set the clock. It has highlighted something else though, this might be a stupid question with the pi not having a clock built in but is there a way to set the time manually or does it have to come from the ntp? The drive is connected to the RPI via USB, correct. If the drive powers up slow, then you need to have the OS wait. Normally increasing the waitusb value on the command line is what you need to do. Take a look at Diagnositcs->dmesg. Scroll to the bottom and find when the OS detects the drive. Note the time difference between Code: [8.109830] Starting piCorePlayer v6.0.0-b9 startup. And when the drive is detected. In "Beta" mode, goto "Extras" Then Bootcodes. My USB disk is a fast, silent, locally attached SSD, and I'm obviously wearing it out a bit faster than if it was a read-only music store, but I don't think that's much of an issue these days. It gets backed up every night, so the risk of loss caused by corruption is minimised. And of course, it removes the risk of corruption to the SD card. I can't say I've noticed any speed difference wherever the cache is stored. Saved space on the SD card isn't an issue either these days, given that the cheapest SD cards seem to be 16Gb. chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110727 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Ok thanks Paul. So, I have to decide what is the more important for me, my SD Card or my music collection (even if I have two backups). I didn't realize that the database could reach multiple of GB. I understand why I got problems when I expand the file to only 300 MB :). Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] BETA: piCorePlayer6.0.0 - PI4 support
There is no 100% certain place that it should be. Some people do not like having LMS (or the system it is running on) being able to write to the place where the music is stored to reduce the possibility of something going horribly wrong and a carefully created (but not backed up) collection gets destroyed (at least I assume that is the reason). Also - if the music is stored on a NAS and LMS is running somewhere else (e.g. RPi) then having the cache over a network link may well make things slower. Having the cache on the local SD card where LMS is booted is the default for pCP so is probably how it is set for many installations. The fear there is that either the SD card is too small to hold the database files that LMS uses (could easily be multiple GB when there is a lot of artwork/artists along with plugins that fetch and store extra info) or that having frequent writes to the SD card (LMS writes data back to the card for logging and current playlist) might reduce the lifetime of the card. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] BETA: piCorePlayer6.0.0 - PI4 support
The issue with on board sound was related to squeezelite defaulting to use mmap. With the pi4 being a 64bit kernel, mmap doesn't work. So you just need to turn off mmap in squeezelite. Which is done automatically now. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] BETA: piCorePlayer6.0.0 - PI4 support
I have the cache on the same USB3 disk as my music, with the result that my pCP installation only uses 106Mb on the SD card. I backup my SD card to a zipped image on the music disk every night via cron job, and the image is much bigger than it needs to be because I mistakenly expanded the partition to much bigger than necessary - 1000Mb. In fact I'm quite surprised to see that the zipped image is ~600mb. I didn't expect unused partition space to contribute to the backup size. I should probably look into shrinking the partition to maybe 200Mb. chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110727 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
