Uninstaller
Hi, Where is Uninstaller.app for LiveCode? I have a problem. Script editor has an error every time I changed lines and close it. Even it is an empty line is deleted. Before I have had same problem when I used Revolution. I used Uninstaller.app and reinstall Revolution. The problem was solved. But I cannot find Uninstaller.app for LiveCode. Is there any other way I can fix this problem? MacOS 10.6.5. LiveCode 4.5.1. If you are using the old Revolution folder, look in: ~/Documents/My Revolution edition/Plugins or in here for the new LiveCode folder: ~/Documents/LiveCode/Plugins/ Move or rename the Plugins folder and restart LiveCode. Re: Regular Expression question
Hi Ron, Now I knew what the regex is. Japanese writing does not use separated words. If your data is a kind of words list, you might use some parts of this stack. go stack url http://www.kenjikojima.com/runrev/handbook/download/JpnSortStudy.rev see 美術用語. -- Kenji Kojima http://www.kenjikojima.com/ On Mar 13, 2009, at 9:12 AM, Ron wrote: Hi Kenji, Mark, Thanks for your suggestions. I've have been escaping the chars and that seems to work in the case where there are no reg expressions - only the kanji. My problem is identifying and converting the kanji in the regex string that I put into matchtext. for example: love\w\w finds among other things, loved, lovely, loves etc. Regex parses this expression fine so I can have the user input it directly. But if I use Kanji: 土.{1,10}水 it does not work. This is the kanji for land followed by a period followed by the match operator followed by the kanji for water. I'm looking for the first kanji separated from the second by 1 to 10 chars. It seems I need to let regex know I'm using kanji and there must be some way to do so, unless Rev does not support that. If you can read Japanese, go to http://groups.yahoo.co.jp/group/Runtime_Revolution_Users_Japan/ You may find some answers. or you can read and write, join the Japanese Revolution Forums http://forums.runrev.com/jp/phpBB2/index.php It's a new discussion place. -- Kenji Kojima / 小島健治 http://www.kenjikojima.com/ On Jan 25, 2007, at 2:58 AM, mark wrote: Recently I noted that compared to the old Rev (2.02) the new Rev seems to be more crash-prone, especially with mousemove handlers. Re: Unicode again
Viktoras, I don't think you can type Unicode characters into a table directory. Create an input field. And put them into a table by a script. I made Russian sample. Set the htmltext of a field to some text with a unicode character, eg pHellfont lang=el#333;/font, world./ppGoodbye./p Expected is a single unicode character (o-macron), in otherwise English text, ie Hello-macron, world. Goodbye. Result is that all the text from the unicode character to the end of the paragraph is displayed as Japanese characters, ie Hello-macronjapananese characters Goodbye. I can construct the desired behaviour by inserting the character after the rest of the text has been set; that is, first I set the field to the text Hello, world. Goodbye. then execute the statements put font lang= quote el quote #333;/font into x set the htmlText of char 5 of fld 1 to x Then I get the desired appearance. I then ask for the htmlText of the whole field, I get the string I started with, that is pHellfont lang=el#333;/font, world./ppGoodbye./p In other words, setting the htmlText of the field to the htmlText of the field changes it (rendering all the characters after the o-macron to japanese characters. Is this a bug? Is it a known bug? Is it in bugzilla? Is there a workaround? Note that the same does not occur with unicodeText - eg given a field constructed as above, the statement set the unicodeText of fld 1 to the unicodeText of fld 1 doesn't change the text (but of course it does change any style attributes, so this isn't by itself a solution to my problem.) Also note, attempted workaround: explicitly changing the font of the next character works, ie setting the field to: pHellfont lang=el#333;/fontfont language=en,/font world./ppGoodbye./p so forcing the comma that immediately follows o-macron back to english works; but this isn't a great solution in my general case, as the next character might be anything - a plain character, another unicode entity, the opening of another markup tag. Coding for the general case would be a real PITA. (I also tried just using the font tags without enclosing a character, that is pHellfont lang=el#333;/fontfont language=en/font, world./ppGoodbye./p Sadly this didn't work! Re: unicode menus
ron, 1. Thanks for you suggestion. I was unclear what was becoming mojibake (junk). It is not the menu name but the contents of the menu. It consistently corrupts itself, even after I set it to the unicodetext of a fld, as Tuviah suggested. I am still working on this problem, it appears to affect only the file and edit menus. The others maintain their items. I did not have MOJIBAKE when I set menus from a field. But I had another problem: I thought I could show the last two items of Edit menu on menubar, but not this time. It was not only Edit menu but also every menu. (I could show every menu item on a card) Typing a tab and unicode text into the property inspector seems to shift the text so that it changes into junk chars. after the tab. Make like this tab + 1 byte space and Japanese characters You can avoid MOJIBAKE. But you cannot use menuHistory in this case. 2. Encouraged by Tuivah, I kept trying multiple cascading menus and they can be done, my problem was with a particular character. The Japanese char. for 'color' - iro - would not show up in a menu for formating text. The menu has 4 items: font, size, style, color all in Japanese. They are all cascading. The last menuitem does not show up unless I change it to 'textcolor' or something. This is only a problem when it is put in the menubar of OS X, not as a btn on the card. Can you confirm this? I could not find this problem. Can you send me the menu names and items in Japanese? 3. The menupick is returned as a unicode string, but it does not get caught by the switch statement in the script of the menu. How do I evaluate the menupick with unicode? Most of all time I use the menuhistory. If you like to evaluate the menupick with unicode, convert to another code. How can I make grant write access to the CGI-Executables folder? I wanted to make a address book which was written from Web browser. I installed same CGI script and a stack onto Windows XP and Apache 2 server. I changed only one line that was: #! C:/Apache Group/apache2/bin/revolution.exe And did not set permissions of the stack. It worked. I want to use Mac OSX, because Windows server is not mine. Can anybody explain why I cannot save a stack on Mac OSX? Thanks, -- Kenji Kojima Hi Kenji, It is probably working on Windows because Windows is not as strict as MacOSX when it comes to permissions. The reason it fails at the point of making a backup file, is that when the engine saves a stack, it first makes a copy of the original stack, so that if corruption occurs, you can retrieve your last saved version from thart backup file. But if the engine doesn't have the right to write files in the directory where the stack resides, it cannot create the backup. It is strongly recommended not to give write access to (a folder in) the cgi-excecutables folder. It is best to keep the data stack in a separate folder that isn't shared with the rest of the world, and set the right owner and permissions. You cazn do this from the Finder using the 'Get Info' item in the 'File' menu. In this window you will see a section 'Owner Privileges' where you can change the owner (if you happen to be the administrator of the machine) If my memory serves me well, you'll want to set the owner to the internal 'www' user, which is what the web server process Apache is running as. Hope this helped, Jan Schenkel. = As we grow older, we grow both wiser and more foolish at the same time. (La Rochefoucauld) __ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Re: Accessing Kanjidic and Edict
Hi joe, I would like to use MacJdic on MacOSX. I have version 1.1. Kanjidic was made by EUC-JP and CR(Mac). I think you have to convert it to SJIS and CRLF or Unicode for Rev. I don't know which is easier. Maybe SJIS, I guess. Oops, just a quick clarification. While the files above ARE free for non-profit use, they are no longer in the public domain. Re: creating a Unicode (UTF-8) file using open/write/close file
Hi Trevor, open file tPath for write (also tried open file tPath for binary write) write unicodeText of field 1 to file tPath close file tPath The Japanese characters were turned into garbage characters when I opened the file in BBEdit. Is it possible to write a UTF encoded text file with Rev? If so, how? If you like to save Japanese as UTF16, use this. on mouseUp ask file with untitled.txt put binfile: it into tURL if the platform is MacOS then put unicodeText of fld 1 into tData -- you may not see else if the platform is Win32 then put unicodeText of fld 1 into tData end if end if put tData into URL(tURL) end mouseUp It's by Kiyoshi Kamogawa of Japanese mailing list. I cannot open this file in BBEdit Lite which I have, but can open in TextEdit on MacOSX or Hidemaru editor on Windows. I do not know how I can save Japanese text as UTF8. Rev unicode field still has problems. Re: creating a Unicode (UTF-8) file using open/write/close file
If all true, then you seem to need a function to convert from UTF-16 to UTF-8. But, if you can get by with UTF-16, then maybe you just need the BOM. Creating the BOM might be simply setting useUnicode to true and returning numToChar(-2); worth a try anyway. Rev unicode field has a line break trouble. You can not save as UTF8 without garbage text. You can see the correct text only the first line and may see some others. Before you have to fix it by something that I don't know. -- Kenji Kojima http://www.kenjikojima.com/ ___ use-revolution mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.runrev.com/mailman/listinfo/use-revolution

Re: Back With Unicode Blues...
Hi Igor, font face=Lucida Grande lang=ja is a problem for Japanese users too. There is not the font name Lucida Grande in Japanese fonts. This is Roman system font on Mac OSX. The Japanese system font is Osaka on MacOSX. We can find the same problem on other OSs. Japanese MacOS Classic shows Geneva, and Japanese Windows shows MS San Serif. Every font name is NOT Japanese font. The problem is only imported or copied Pasted Japanese text from other application files, HtmlText of direct input Japanese text from a keyboard shows font face=Osaka lang=ja . When you import Japanese text into Rev text field. the effective textFont of line 1 of field 1 does not work. It returns mixed.
