Uninstaller

2010-11-18 Thread Kenji Kojima
Hi,

Where is Uninstaller.app for LiveCode?

I have a problem. Script editor has an error every time I changed lines and
close it. Even it is an empty line is deleted. Before I have had same problem
when I used Revolution. I used Uninstaller.app and reinstall Revolution. The
problem was solved. But I cannot find Uninstaller.app for LiveCode.

Is there any other way I can fix this problem?

MacOS 10.6.5. LiveCode 4.5.1.

Thanks,

Hi Jacqueline,

Thanks your advise.

If you are on Mac, just drag the app to the trash.

I tried but It did not work.
I think I need to remove somewhere hidden files on my Mac. Probably they were
broken.

The uninstall procedure is documented on page 5 of the User Guide, which you
can access from the Help menu in the IDE. If you are using Windows, the
uninstall is now available in Windows Add/Remove Programs control panel. If
you are on Mac, just drag the app to the trash. If you are on Linux, follow
 the instructions in the guide.

Thanks Jacqueline,

Installed LiveCode 4.5.1.app again.
And restart my computer, but it did not work.

I removed all of LiveCode files I could find. But I am still having the same

Even if removed every files and reinstalled a fresh LiveCode, there are old

I think I need to remove all of LiveCode files like uninstaller does, and

Oh, okay. You could see if you have any plugins that conflict. If you are
using the old Revolution folder, look in:

 ~/Documents/My Revolution edition/Plugins

or in here for the new LiveCode folder:

 ~/Documents/LiveCode/Plugins/

Move or rename the Plugins folder and restart LiveCode. See if that fixes it.
The script editor is inside the LC app bundle, so if you replaced that
already then the app isn't the problem.

I should correct my words.
We can use Unicode functions.

However We cannot make Unicode Application.
• Unicode Application must have unicode menus.
• Unicode Application must open a unicode name document.
• Unicode Application must save a unicode name document.

I really wish RunRev Ltd. will fix them before Version 5.

Hi,

I expected all Unicode problems were fixed on 3.0. But I cannot use Unicode

One big problem is MacOS menu bar. It happened 2.8.1. Before we did not have
this problem.
http://quality.runrev.com/qacenter/show_bug.cgi?id=5141

You can see a video.

The menu bar has to have four menus, but when you set the menu bar sometimes
the menus are three or two.

You can try a sample stack.

Before you try it, change the Language to Japanese. see this image.

Re: Music ????

2009-10-21 Thread Kenji Kojima

Hi Alejandro,

Yes, UDI's makeSMFLib works on MacOS, Windows and browser.
You have to fix one line. Because sort command changed after V3.5.

function notes2MidiFile of button makeSmfLib of stack makeSMF133
-- line 131
put notes2EvList( notes, defInst, playTempo ) into evList
-- put this line after line 131
if chartonum(char -1 of evList) is 10 then delete char -1 of evList

Playing UDI's sample musics do not use function notes2MidiFile, but
when you make your music you may have a problem.
And sometimes Windows QuickTime plays a big noise when a midi file
starts, put a short rest before a music.

Surely, these stacks will benefit from a code update,

Re: Line Breaks Dropped on Importing Unicode Text

2009-09-04 Thread Kenji Kojima

Hi Sivakatirswami,

I have some UTF-16 unicode raw text. If I import this into Pages, it
displays the font correctly and also the line breaks between
paragraphs correctly

But if I use this function:

on mouseUp
answer file Choose a unicode file to read in.
if it is empty then exit mouseUp
put binfile: it into urlName
replace numtochar(13) with numtochar(10) in urlName
set the unicodeText of fld display to url urlName
end mouseUp

the line breaks are not appearing in the field in revolution.

It worked. I used Japanese UTF-16 on Mac OS 10.6, Revolution 4.0.

Also if I try to analyze what chars are there, where the line break
should be, by selecting across a missing line break and then use
this test:

on mouseUp
 set the useUnicode to true
if the selection is empty then
answer No Selection with ok
 end if
 put the selection into tUnicode
 put tUnicode
repeat for each char x in tUnicode
put chartonum(x) cr after tOutput end repeat
put tOutput # returns empty
end mouseUp

it should be

repeat with i=1 to the num of chars of tUnicode step 2
put chartonum(char i to i+1 of tUnicode) cr after tOutput
   end repeat

http://www.kenjikojima.com/revlet/PlayMIDI/pmd.html

I can play it on MacOS. I have two problems.

1) I cannot show a QuickTime controller on MacOS and Windows. only
a border

appears.

2) I made a temporary MIID file into specialfolderpath
(temporary). and
set the filename of player playMidi to (specialfolderpath
(temporary)

/playPmdTemp.mid)
It works on MacOS, but not on Windows.

but movement controled by scripts works really fine.

(for example, both Walking figures in revlet i posted,

Check this by yourself, comparing these revlets in your browser

Hi Ron,

Now I knew what the regex is. Japanese writing does not use separated

Hi Kenji, Mark,

Kenji, you are right about searching using the find command. I can

Mark, you are right about escaping the characters when I use regex.
I've have been escaping the chars and that seems to work in the case
where there are no reg expressions - only the kanji.

My problem is identifying and converting the kanji in the regex
string that I put into matchtext.

for example: love\w\w finds among other things, loved, lovely,
loves etc. Regex parses this expression fine so I can have the user
input it directly. But if I use Kanji: 土.{1,10}水 it does not
work.
This is the kanji for land followed by a period followed by the
match operator followed by the kanji for water. I'm looking for the
first kanji separated from the second by 1 to 10 chars.

It seems I need to let regex know I'm using kanji and there must be
some way to do so, unless Rev does not support that.

Thanks
Ron

Re: Unicode from Variable?

Hi,

If you like to handle UTF16 directly. You can use function
countUnicodeLines and unicodeLineOffset.

I made a Japanese sorting stack before. You can see the functions in
the stack.
go stack url http://www.kenjikojima.com/runrev/handbook/download/JpnSortStudy.rev

You cannot use the num of lines and lineOffset for UTF16.
Sometimes you get wrong numbers.

And it may help too.

My thought is to add a script to an object which uses

send to trigger a hide field after a few seconds.

The trigger (which is the card) will also need to put off
hiding the field so long as the mouseloc has changed.

The challenge for me is how to measure whether the
mouse has moved or not. All I can figure out is to add
a send command to the trigger-script in the card
which'll compare mouselocs both before and after
the second send command.

But, maybe there's a simpler way of doing this?

Thanks.

Re: making a tooltip (for Japanese)

2008-10-24 Thread Kenji Kojima

Hi Nicolas,

Use a text field when you set the custom property that Devin wrote.
set the cJptoolTip of btn whatever to unidecode(the unicodeText of
fld mytext,utf8)

and change the script to

on setJpTooltip
   put the seconds into lEnterSec
set the unicodeText of fld jpTooltip to uniencode(the cJpTooltip
of the target, utf8)

-- Adjust +2 to any number.
set the width of fld jpTooltip to the formattedWidth of fld
jpTooltip + 2

-- these two lines were added. Adjust -4 to any number.
set the height of fld jpTooltip to the formattedHeight of fld
jpTooltip -4

set the align of fld jpTooltip to left

   jpTooltipShow
end setJpTooltip

Re: Foreign Keyboards

2008-08-19 Thread Kenji Kojima

Ron,

When you set a Japanese Unicode font on a text field. You can type
Japanese and English text correctly. Even if you use a Japanese layout
keyboard. When you use a default text field that is set an English
font, you can type Japanese characters, but wrong symbols.

I do not have a Japanese keyboard of Windows, then I have not tested
it on 2.9 and 3.0. I will ask about it to Japanese Revolution Forums

This is the script importing Japanese file name of JPEG. It's used
AppleScript. I am not good for AppleScript, I believe you can improve
it. One problem of this script is when you use it many times, the
script has an error. Probably it is an AppleScript bug. I think this

can use do asScript as appleScript or shell command on Runrev. We

The script duplicates a temporary English name of Japanese file name

The patterns and brushes are not automatically included in
standalones, and the standalone builder does not have an option to
include them. This is fixed for the next release. For now, you have
to copy the patterns and brushes into your stack manually.

There are quite a few stacks involved. The easiest way is to set the
preferences to show Revolution stacks in lists, then use the
Application Browser to find all the stacks that work with cursors,
patterns, and brushes. Clone those and make them substacks of your
main stack.

Or wait for 2.9. :)

If it's just for you, then, you can try to hack your file

AppleScript, maybe it has a better unicode support.

 put fld tAddress into tAddress

put unidecode(the unicodeText of fld tSubject, UTF8) into

put unidecode(the unicodeText of fld tBody,UTF8) into tBody

I had two different results.

1. the text font was unicode
I could not display right after the unicode test was imported.
But I resized the window and text field several times,
it showed whole one line text.

2. the text font was Lucida Grande
I could display whole one line of unicode text.
I tried 12, 24, 36, 48, 64 points.
The unicode character was 18,188.

Importing UTF-16 Japanese text in Rev Field on Windows2000.
• BOM changes to a garbage character.

put url (binfile: it) into tURL
   set the useUnicode to true
   if baseConvert(charToNum(char 1 to 2 of tUTF16), 10, 16) = FEFF

Viktoras,

I don't think you can type Unicode characters into a table directory.
Create an input field. And put them into a table by a script.

I made Russian sample. I don't know Russian, I just copy words from
one of Russian sites.

Inside script is same as Japanese version. Don't afraid it works,
unicode is same.
Type your language using comma for the delimiter into field tInput
And click on Set Table

You may make simpler script for your language.

Hi,

This is Japanese sorting.
go url http://www.kenjikojima.com/runrev/handbook/download/
JpnSortStudy.rev

At least it works in Japanese.
The last card is sorted by item 2 that is sorted by phonetic characters.

I cannot imagine what could be wrong with that since it works with

If the language is Japanese, you can convert Unicode to SJIS, and
store the text in a custom property.

Thanks to Ron Barber for some helpful responses to my previous mail.
I'm
making very slow and stumbling progress - still, progress! Now I've
hit
another area in which my incomprehension may be mixing with Rev bugs.

Working with a field which has interited Geneva as it's font. Set the
htmltext of a field to some text with a unicode character, eg
pHellfont lang=el#333;/font, world./ppGoodbye./p
Expected is a single unicode character (o-macron), in otherwise English
text, ie
Hello-macron, world.
Goodbye.
Result is that all the text from the unicode character to the end of
the
paragraph is displayed as Japanese characters, ie
Hello-macronjapananese characters
Goodbye.

I can construct the desired behaviour by inserting the character after
the
rest of the text has been set; that is, first I set the field to the
text
Hello, world.
Goodbye.

then execute the statements
put font lang= quote el quote #333;/font into x
set the htmlText of char 5 of fld 1 to x
Then I get the desired appearance. I then ask for the htmlText of the
whole
field, I get the string I started with, that is
pHellfont lang=el#333;/font, world./ppGoodbye./p

In other words, setting the htmlText of the field to the htmlText of
the
field changes it (rendering all the characters after the o-macron to
japanese characters. Is this a bug? Is it a known bug? Is it in
bugzilla?
Is there a workaround?

Note that the same does not occur with unicodeText - eg given a field
constructed as above, the statement
set the unicodeText of fld 1 to the unicodeText of fld 1
doesn't change the text (but of course it does change any style
attributes,
so this isn't by itself a solution to my problem.)

Also note, attempted workaround: explicitly changing the font of the
next
character works, ie setting the field to:

pHellfont lang=el#333;/fontfont language=en,/font
world./ppGoodbye./p
so forcing the comma that immediately follows o-macron back to english
works; but this isn't a great solution in my general case, as the next
character might be anything - a plain character, another unicode
entity, the
opening of another markup tag. Coding for the general case would be a
real
PITA. (I also tried just using the font tags without enclosing a
character,
that is

pHellfont lang=el#333;/fontfont language=en/font,
world./ppGoodbye./p
Sadly this didn't work!
Any help, tips, pointers to documentation, or answers to the specific
questions above would be very gratefully received.

Re: unicode menus

2004-10-22 Thread Kenji Kojima
ron,
1. Thanks for you suggestion. I was unclear what was becoming mojibake
(junk). It is not the menu name but the contents of the menu. It
consistently corrupts itself, even after I set it to the unicodetext
of a fld, as Tuviah suggested. I am still working on this problem, it
appears to affect only the file and edit menus. The others maintain
their items.
I did not have MOJIBAKE when I set menus from a field.
But I had another problem:
I thought I could show the last two items of Edit menu on menubar, but
not this time.
It was not only Edit menu but also every menu.
(I could show every menu item on a card)

Typing a tab and unicode text into the property inspector seems to
shift the text so that it changes into junk chars. after the tab.
Make like this
tab + 1 byte space and Japanese characters
You can avoid MOJIBAKE.
But you cannot use menuHistory in this case.

2. Encouraged by Tuivah, I kept trying multiple cascading menus and
they can be done, my problem was with a particular character. The
Japanese char. for 'color' - iro - would not show up in a menu for
formating text. The menu has 4 items: font, size, style, color all in
Japanese. They are all cascading. The last menuitem does not show up
unless I change it to 'textcolor' or something. This is only a problem
when it is put in the menubar of OS X, not as a btn on the card. Can
you confirm this?
I could not find this problem.
Can you send me the menu names and items in Japanese?

3. The menupick is returned as a unicode string, but it does not get
caught by the switch statement in the script of the menu.
How do I evaluate the menupick with unicode?
Most of all time I use the menuhistory.
If you like to evaluate the menupick with unicode, convert to another
code.
We cannot read it but much better than MOJIBAKE unicode
for Ex.
put urlEncode(uniDecode(pWhich, Japanese)) -- you can read a part
of English and numbers

It worked.
I want to use Mac OSX, because Windows server is not
mine.
Can anybody explain why I cannot save a stack on Mac
OSX?
Thanks,

Kenji Kojima
Hi Kenji,
It is probably working on Windows because Windows is
not as strict as MacOSX when it comes to permissions.
The reason it fails at the point of making a backup
file, is that when the engine saves a stack, it first
makes a copy of the original stack, so that if
corruption occurs, you can retrieve your last saved
version from thart backup file.
But if the engine doesn't have the right to write
files in the directory where the stack resides, it
cannot create the backup.
It is strongly recommended not to give write access to
(a folder in) the cgi-excecutables folder. It is best
to keep the data stack in a separate folder that isn't
shared with the rest of the world, and set the right
owner and permissions.
You cazn do this from the Finder using the 'Get Info'
item in the 'File' menu. In this window you will see a
section 'Owner Privileges' where you can change the
owner (if you happen to be the administrator of the
machine)
If my memory serves me well, you'll want to set the
owner to the internal 'www' user, which is what the
web server process Apache is running as.
Hope this helped,
Jan Schenkel.

Re: Accessing Kanjidic and Edict

2004-04-13 Thread Kenji Kojima
Hi joe,

I would like to use MacJdic on MacOSX. I have version 1.1.
Kanjidic was made by EUC-JP and CR(Mac). I think you have to convert it
to SJIS and CRLF or Unicode for Rev. I don't know which is easier.
Maybe SJIS, I guess.

Oops, just a quick clarification. While the files above ARE free for
non-profit use, they are no longer in the public domain. Sorry for any
confusion caused.
You should ask it to Dan Crevier or Jim Breen.

I do not know Simplified Chinese, but Unicode 4E0A has a problem in
Japanese.

These characters contain a return element. If there are 3 characters
of them in the first line, Rev counts the first line is three lines.
I reported it in April.

Re: creating a Unicode (UTF-8) file using open/write/close file

2003-09-24 Thread Kenji Kojima
Hi Trevor,

open file tPath for write (also tried open file tPath for binary write)
write unicodeText of field 1 to file tPath
close file tPath
The Japanese characters were turned into garbage characters when I
opened the file in BBEdit. Is it possible to write a UTF encoded text
file with Rev? If so, how?
If you like to save Japanese as UTF16, use this.

on mouseUp
  ask file with untitled.txt
  put binfile: it into tURL
if the platform is MacOS then
put unicodeText of fld 1 into tData -- you may not see
  else
if the platform is Win32 then
put unicodeText of fld 1 into tData
end if
  end if
  put tData into URL(tURL)
end mouseUp
It's by Kiyoshi Kamogawa of Japanese mailing list.
I cannot open this file in BBEdit Lite which I have, but can open in
TextEdit on MacOSX
or Hidemaru editor on Windows. I do not know how I can save Japanese
text as UTF8.

Rev unicode field still has problems.
We've been expecting the next version since last year.

Re: creating a Unicode (UTF-8) file using open/write/close file

2003-09-24 Thread Kenji Kojima
If all true, then you seem to need a function to convert from UTF-16
to UTF-8.

But, if you can get by with UTF-16, then maybe you just need the BOM.
Creating the BOM might be simply setting useUnicode to true and
returning numToChar(-2); worth a try anyway.

Rev unicode field has a line break trouble.
You can not save as UTF8 without garbage text.
You can see the correct text only the first line and may see some
others.

Before you have to fix it by something that I don't know.

I got an idea from Japanese mailing list just before.
It works for UTF8.
put number of lines of fld 1 into tNum
  repeat with i=1 to tNum
put uniDecode(line i of fld 1, UTF8) return after tFld
  end repeat
  put tFld into URL file:testUTF8.txt
Hope not only japanese text and only version 2.1.

This doesn't work for me.

Should 'the unicodeText of ' be inserted just before 'line i of fld 1'?

Worked both script with or without 'the unicodeText of '
on MacOSX and WindowsXP for Japanese text.

Internet date question

2003-08-01 Thread Kenji Kojima
Hi,

I think it was the first beta of version 2. I reported the last item
of internet date
was British summer time. But Version 2.1 is still same. It is one hour

Now I am very confusing what is the correct internet date.
Can anybody explain about it?
I must correct my old script on version 2.1 or should wait until the

Re: Back With Unicode Blues...

Hi Igor,

font face=Lucida Grande lang=ja is a problem for Japanese users
too.

There is not the font name Lucida Grande in Japanese fonts.
This is Roman system font on Mac OSX. The Japanese system font is
Osaka on MacOSX. We can find the same problem on other OSs.
Japanese MacOS Classic shows Geneva, and Japanese Windows shows
MS San Serif. Every font name is NOT Japanese font.
The problem is only imported or copied Pasted Japanese text from other
application files, HtmlText of direct input Japanese text from a
keyboard shows
font face=Osaka lang=ja .

When you import Japanese text into Rev text field.

the effective textFont of line 1 of field 1

does not work. It returns mixed. It has to contain comma on the
document

Hi,

How can I import 2 bytes text file into a field?
I tried to import a Japanese text file.

  answer file
  put file:it into tUrl
set the unicodeText of field 1 to URL tUrl

But it did not work. I got a rainbow cursor long while (it's OSX)
and Chinese like garbage characters in the field.
Maybe I needed to convert from ASCII code to unicode
before set the unicodeText.
