Did that and I'm not really sure that the situation is improved. Right after
booting I started installing the latest CU for May and it was done in 1 hour
and 30 minutes. I know that these things sometimes take a while to install but
this seems way too much...

Hello Alexandru,
Thanks for sharing. The reason could be that the VM is using IDE instead of
virtio. Please stop the VM and add the key "rootDiskController" with value
"virtio" and see the difference. You'll have to ensure that virtio drivers are
installed on the VM so that it would be able to detect the disks.

Thanks,
Jayanth

Hi Jayanth,

I don't have that key. In the settings section of the vm there are 2 keys,
Message.ReservedCapacityFreed.Flag and rootdisksize.
I don't have a template yet, actually this vm was installed from a Windows ISO
(that is registered as Windows PV in ACS) and I was hoping to transform it into
a template with cloudbase-init, but since the performance is so bad I didn't
get past the updates phase...

Hello Alexandru,
I’m not able to see the image. Would you please check the value for the key
“rootDiskController” in both template and the Windows VM if the template OS
type is “Windows PV” already? You’ll find it in the settings section.

CLOUDSTACK VM HA

2024-05-27 Thread Alex Paul
Hi Community,

I am testing High Availability (HA) for Cloudstack VMs using KVM and NFS.
To simulate a host failure, I am triggering a kernel panic. When the
command is executed, the host status remains "up" for 3-4 minutes before
transitioning to an "Alert '' state and not marked as "Down ". As a result,
the VMs are not being migrated and still appear to be running on the downed
host server.

My questions are:

   1. Can we reduce the detection time for a downed host to about 30
   seconds?
   2. What could be the reason for hosts entering an "Alert" state after a
kernel panic, which is preventing VM HA from functioning properly?

Alex.

RE: Login issue on new install

2024-05-27 Thread Ian Tobin
Hi Stephan, Wei,

Sorry I have been out and just returned today.

You are indeed correct, I was entering the incorrect default password thinking
it was the correct one and it was just stuck. After clearing cache and entering
the correct default password it logged straight in so does appear to be a bug.

Thanks for letting me know!

Best regards

Ian

Hi Ian,

it sounds exactly like the issue we found last week and opened a github issue
for:
https://github.com/apache/cloudstack/issues/9123

Once you enter a wrong password, you are stuck in the spinning wheel page.
No error message about the wrong password will appear, like in previous
versions.
Even when you close the browser window/tab and open a new one with the url -
you will only see the spinning wheel and no login page.

You have to delete browser cache to be able to see the login page again.

Seems like a bug.

Best regards,
Stephan

Hello,
Yes, DB clustering with Galera or some other sort should be looked into. I'm
not sure if [1] has worked for someone so far.

Hi,

Actually no, I'm just documenting the process so far, so nothing was done for
the DB. For this I assume the info in the official documentation would be ok?
Or something more advanced would be needed, like a galera cluster?

I don’t think that project limits at an account-level is implemented. You may
have to consider at domain-level only.

Hi all,

does anyone know how to set a fix number of projects for each account?
In the ressources overview I can only see that there is an unlimited
number of projects available for an account, but how can I set a value
for this?
