Hi Francois,

XenServer 6.2 is supported only for fresh install of CloudPlatform 4.2.
However, XS 6.2 is fully supported from
4.2.1.

For your reference please find the compatibility matrix below:

Thanks

Hmm, that explains why I ran into issues after upgrading my environment to
SP1. I recreated the Zone and its been working well so far.

2014-01-01 Thread Tim Mackey
Technically speaking, SP1 is only a rollup of hotfixes with the addition of
vGPU functionality and support for Windows 8.1 and Server 2012 R2. It's
not a release per se. Here's the readme:
http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX139788. As a result, I'd expect
support to be mostly based on for the included hotfixes, since that's
probably what most of us care more about.

As to the question of sticking with 6.1 or 6.2, unless there is a
functional reason for sticking with 6.1, and you've fully patched it; I'd
recommend going to 6.2. Partly that's based on the EOM for 6.1 being only
nine months away:

Xenserver 6.2 SP1 Hotfix 4

2014-06-17 Thread Len Bellemore
Hi Guys,

I've recently upgraded to XenServer 6.2 with CS 4.3.

I've also applied XenServer 6.2 SP1. Do I need to apply Hotfix 4 as well?

I read that it has some enhancements for CS built into the hotfix, but the
release notes also state that I need to set up a dedicated SR for High
Availability, which seems a bit odd.

Do I need the hotfix? If so, do I really need to set up a dedicated HA SR?

Cheers
Len

Len,

6.2 SP1 rolls up all previous hotfixes, plus adds a few of its own. I'd
expect if you attempted to install HF004, that it would error out with a
message about being already applied.

Len,

6.2 SP1 rolls up all previous hotfixes, plus adds a few of its own. I'd expect
if you attempted to install HF004, that it would error out with a message about
being already applied.

Re: Xenserver 6.2 SP1 Hotfix 4

2014-06-19 Thread Tim Mackey
Len,

That release note was written from the perspective of a XenServer feature
set which includes an HA capability. CloudStack doesn't use the native
XenServer HA capability, and if you're using CloudStack you shouldn't
enable the native XenServer HA environment lest it conflicts with the
CloudStack HA service offering. Net of this, shared storage is required
for native XenServer HA, but CloudStack has its own method.

Am I missing something? XenServer 6.2 SP1 & CloudStack 4.3

New build and everything seems fine, but can't install from ISO.
I haven't tried to work around with another template yet, as I figured this

Hi Eric,

CloudStack does not support XS620SP1 in CS 4.3, because of that you are not
able to deploy "Windows Server 2012 R2" guestOS.
The next CS release i.e. CloudStack 4.4 supports XenServer 6.2SP1 and XenServer
6.2.5 as well.

Geoff,

You can use XS6.2 with SP1 and XS62ESP1004 hotfix but CloudStack 4.3 will use
XenServer620 resource file to connect to this host and won't be able to
leverage new features/guestOS supported in SP1 and XS62ESP1004 like vGPU
feature addition in XS620SP1 and new guest OS support like "Windows server 2012
R2".

My experience is that CloudStack 4.3 does support XenServer 6.2 with SP1 and
XS62ESP1004 applied.

This Citrix article confirms this

System VM trouble with fresh CloudStack 4.2.1 and XenServer 6.2 SP1

2014-02-12 Thread Erik Weber
I've just done a fresh installation of ACS 4.2.1 with XS 6.2 SP1 hosts.
Primary and secondary storage are on NFS.

ssvm and cpvm launches, as in they get created and starts, but for some
reason they do not seem to use/provision the systemvm.iso, and when looking
into the console the vm's are rather clean (no cloud-scripts or similar)
and without configured nics.

I have no idea why this happens, or how to troubleshoot it further, so any
advice are highly appreciated.

There are no errors or warnings in neither the MS log nor the SMlog on the
xenserver.

systemvm.iso resides in /usr/share/cloudstack-common/vms on the MS server
and /opt/xensource/packages/iso on the xenserver hosts.

Check whether you are using the right version of system vm template and
the system vm isos are also not stale.
Generally I see this happening when the above combination is not right.

Re: System VM trouble with fresh CloudStack 4.2.1 and XenServer 6.2 SP1

2014-02-13 Thread Erik Weber
I used the systemvm template from 4.2.1 install guide.

I have no idea how to check if it's stale or not. However, it started
working after reinstalling ACS 4.2.1, the problem occured with CCP 4.2.1.

I'll reinstall the platform entirely next week, and if it happens again
file a bug for it with Citrix.

Thanks for responding :-)
