Exactly, just left the port number field blank, and the vnc session is run
ok!

I already solved this problem.

But, nevertheless, thanks.

Re: [one-users] Little help with first building cloud

2011-12-28 Thread matheus tor4
Hello everybody.

To get the IP outside the VM, even not using vmcontext. I use this comand:
$  arp-scan -l | awk '// {print $1}'
It is the most useful for me.

To make correct VNC connections needs to make a template for each node you
want to access.
So put the correct IP for each template.

Thanks for all the help.

My job finally is close to the end.

Best regards.

Re: [one-users] Little help with first building cloud

2011-12-27 Thread matheus tor4
Hi OpenNebula Friends,

Even using vmcontext I didn't picked up the real IP from VM.
Does exist a way to get a output of vmcontext.sh outside of the VM?

The other two questions have been solved.
To make various instances of a same template, it needs to be non persistent.
To refresh dashboard runs oneacctd.

And a other doubt : How to make Vnc connections for more than one VM?
I have a template that uses: listen:0.0.0.0 and port 5910, persistent <- In
this case, the VNC session is ok.
But when I use: listen 172.17.0.0 and port 5901, non persistent <- Not
works!
I believe which the error is on my graphics configuration for VMs.
Any hints?

Thanks in advance.

2011-12-23 Thread matheus tor4
Hello everybody.

I finally have access to my running VM. For this I used VNC.
But my access brought me more several doubts about VMs usage and other
questions.

1 - Sunstone dont show me the real IP address of my VM. This show me only a
lease get from virtual network. I only see the real IP using 'ifconfig'
inside my VM (using VNC). Does exist a way to publish the real address of
VMs without have to access them with VNC?

2 - Why I can't start more than one VM with a unique template?

3 - Why my dashboard shows me nothing, even when I have a running VM?

Very thanks for all the help until the moment.

Merry Christmas for all!
See you soon.

ebtables is a tool to have firewall rules on a bridge.

As I said on IRC, you have to setup your network correctly.

One the host create a bridge (say, bridge0) and assign eth0 to it.
The remove you IP configuration from eth0 and apply it to bridge0.
Start the new bridge.

Re: [one-users] Little help with first building cloud

2011-12-22 Thread matheus tor4
Guys, one more doubt.

I didn't get access to my running VM at the moment.
If I'm not mistaken, the well-known ways to get access are ssh and vnc.
As far I know the access will granted by bridge iface.
But, at the moment I have trouble with my bridged network.

See this

When the host* is not running VMs* I got this
oneadmin@...$ brctl show
bridge namebridge idSTP enabledinterfaces
virbr08000.yes

And When the host *is running VMs* I got this
oneadmin@...$ brctl show
bridge namebridge idSTP enabledinterfaces
virbr08000.fe00c0a80001yesvnet0

looking the ifconfig in the host that runs VMs I see:

eth0 and loopback...
virbr0Link encap:Ethernet Endere o de HW fe:00:c0:a8:00:01
  inet end.: 192.168.122.1 Bcast:192.168.122.255

  colis es:0 txqueuelen:500
  RX bytes:300 (300.0 B) TX bytes:60852 (60.8 KB)

If we look close we see that vnet has no ip address.

My doubt is - Is the virbr0 must be aim to eth0 instead of vnet0?
  - What the most painless way to configure bridge network?

Thanks in advance.

Fabian, I solved the problem. Thanks to #opennebula channel on Freenode.

I remove the hosts, then put it again, so the hosts will monitored
sucessfully!

Thanks for the help.

Now I go running a test VM.

See you later!

Is your sunstone server running on the same system as the

Is root from the front-end also able to password less login to

That was a error with StrictHostKeyChecking.
Solution is on:

But the problem isn't all solved.

At the moment I got this error message:

I'm still need help.

Any hints?

  What you recommend?

  What kind of changes?

On my system the /etc/one/oned.conf belongs to root (rw) with only read
permissions for the cloud group. The startup script /etc/init.d/opennebula
takes care to start the OpenNebula daemons with the user oneadmin (eg.
dropping privileges). But this is something which could depend on the used
Linux distribution if you used a distribution provided package.

Re: [one-users] Little help with first building cloud

2011-12-19 Thread matheus tor4
Hello guys.

I have one more problem here.

When I start a host, in sunstone server, I get a error.
On /var/log/one/oned.conf I see this:

Mon Dec 19 15:42:47 2011 [InM][I]: Monitoring host PacsOnCloud-FrontEnd (0)
Mon Dec 19 15:42:48 2011 [InM][I]: Command execution fail: 'if [ -x
"/var/tmp/one/im/run_probes" ]; then /var/tmp/one/im/run_probes kvm 0
PacsOnCloud-FrontEnd; else exit 42; fi'
Mon Dec 19 15:42:48 2011 [InM][I]: Host key verification failed.
Mon Dec 19 15:42:48 2011 [InM][I]: ExitCode: 255
Mon Dec 19 15:42:48 2011 [InM][E]: Error monitoring host 0 : MONITOR
FAILURE 0 -

I'm thinking that is related with ssh keys.
But I'm already login FrontEnd - Host01 and Host01-FrontEnd passwordlessly
(with oneadmin user).

I don't know what do now.

Anyone already got this error message before?

Very thanks for all the help.

Regards.

Hi Matheus,

the default url is http://:9869/

but you must set host: in sunstone-server config to listen to ip address
of your NIC and not to loopback

oneadmin@PacsOnCloud-FrontEnd:/etc/one$ id oneadmin
uid=107(oneadmin) gid=118(oneadmin) grupos=118(oneadmin)

What changes I have to do ?

It does also work with the group oneadmin instead of cloud, just
adjust your libvirtd.conf according. The OpenNebula documentation
usualy talks about oneadmin:cloud, so you just have to use
oneadmin:oneadmin instead.

About the permissions, is the images folder and the VM_DIR on a
NFS storage? If yes, you need to adjust this exports in
/etc/exports according to allow root to read/write files there,
as with KVM the VMs will be run with root privileges.

Re: [one-users] Little help with first building cloud

2011-12-06 Thread matheus tor4
I dont create any group named 'cloud'.
Is it created automatically?

So, the commands that I want to execute with oneadmin have to been inserted
in /etc/sudoers file. Is that correct?

I'm going to make the configuration, and I need to make changes in several
files, including oned.conf, that have root as owner.

My oneadmin user below:

oneadmin@PacsOnCloud-FrontEnd:/etc/one$ id oneadmin
uid=107(oneadmin) gid=118(oneadmin) grupos=118(oneadmin)

What changes I have to do ?

Thanks.

Re: [one-users] Little help with first building cloud

2011-12-06 Thread Hutson Betts
Dear Matheus,

The oneadmin user should NOT be part of any administrative group.
Rather, the oneadmin user should be part of the 'cloud' group, and any
command required by oneadmin should be added to the /etc/sudoers file
with the appropriate NOPASSWD line. Furthermore, the permissions of
the /var/lib/one folder, or the folder containing the shared directory,
should have the appropriate permissions giving the 'cloud' group access
to that folder, and sub-folders.

I believe all required permissions are listed in the setup
documentation.

 - Make sure that /var/lib/one/.one/one_auth exists, and contains
 user:pass string.
 - Set a environment variable ONE_AUTH=/var/lib/one/.one/one_auth, and
 put it as global variable.
 - Change the contain of /var/lib/one/auth to make it strictly similar
 to /var/lib/one/.one/one_auth file
 - Make the /var/lib/one/auth work as symbolic link to
  /var/lib/one/.one/one_auth.

 Nothing works!

And I get the same error: [VirtualMachinePoolInfo] User couldn't be

 Any more hints?

I dont want to reinstall OpenNebula again!! :x

 Thanks for all your help,

Sounds like an issue with your $ONE_AUTH file.

Here's an e-mail chain that explains the issue a little.

I would simply make sure your $ONE_AUTH
file, /home/oneadmin/.one/one_auth, exists, and that it contains the
username:password string for the oneadmin user.

Hi,

With which credential are you starting oned service? if you've started it
with root credentials, stop it first, then su oneadmin and start it again
with oneadmin credentials. This happened to me before.

Thanks

Re: [one-users] Little help with first building cloud

2011-12-05 Thread Hutson Betts
Dear Matheus,

No problem. :-) It was a possible solution to the problem that I've had
to use in the past, but I didn't think of it until now.

It just seemed the password in the One database, one.db, did not match
the password in the one_auth file.

Glad it worked for you!

I already tried

- Make sure that /var/lib/one/.one/one_auth exists, and contains user:pass

- Set a environment variable ONE_AUTH=/var/lib/one/.one/one_auth, and put
it as global variable.
- Change the contain of /var/lib/one/auth to make it strictly similar to
/var/lib/one/.one/one_auth file
- Make the /var/lib/one/auth work as symbolic link to
 /var/lib/one/.one/one_auth.

Nothing works!

And I get the same error: [VirtualMachinePoolInfo] User couldn't be
authenticated, aborting call.

Any more hints?

I dont want to reinstall OpenNebula again!! :x

Thanks for all your help,
It's very useful for me.

Best regards.

2011-12-04 Thread Hutson Betts
Sounds like an issue with your $ONE_AUTH file.

Here's an e-mail chain that explains the issue a little.

I would simply make sure your $ONE_AUTH
file, /home/oneadmin/.one/one_auth, exists, and that it contains the
username:password string for the oneadmin user.

 Look this http://dev.opennebula.org/issues/994

After the change run $ sudo dpkg --configure opennebula.

Then voilà, I finished the installation.

I go now to basic configuration!

I got a lot of erros when I use front-end separate of image repository.
Front-end needs write on shared directory /var/lib/one, and the
ownership of the folder belongs to local user.

So, I use only two servers to build the Cloud.

One as Front-end + Image Repository + Node
 And other as Node.

But, I'm in serious trouble now.

When I attempted install the .deb package a got this error:

If we look closely, we see that the prompt for oneadmin remote only has a*$

It is look like a limited prompt. I can do nothing with this kind of

Only the command 'exit' works fine.

Is that correct?

Problem solved!!!

Look this http://dev.opennebula.org/issues/994

After the change run $ sudo dpkg --configure opennebula.

Then voilà, I finished the installation.

I go now to basic configuration!

2011-12-02 Thread matheus tor4
Hello guys,

I got a lot of erros when I use front-end separate of image repository.
Front-end needs write on shared directory /var/lib/one, and the ownership
of the folder belongs to local user.

So, I use only two servers to build the Cloud.

One as Front-end + Image Repository + Node
And other as Node.

But, I'm in serious trouble now.

When I attempted install the .deb package a got this error:

Selecionando pacote previamente no selecionado opennebula.

The most important message is:

*/var/lib/dpkg/info/opennebula.postinst: 43: cannot create /.one/one_auth:

Google says nothing for me.
Already install all the dependecies packages, using this steps:

$ sudo apt-get install libmysqlclient16 libsqlite3-ruby genisoimage ruby
g++  scons libsqlite3-dev libxml2-dev libssl-dev

And I downloaded this packages bellow, and installed manually. When I try
to install the opennebula .deb package at the first time It ask for these
packages.

$ sudo dpkg -i libxmlrpc-core-c3_1.06.27-1ubuntu7_amd64.deb
$ sudo dpkg -i libxmlrpc-c3_1.06.27-1ubuntu7_amd64.deb

Now I don't know what to do to solve this question.

Is it better install by building source?

Does anyone get this error message before?
Is it about permissions?

I'm counting on you guys.

Very thanks for all the help;

Best regards,

Matheus

Hi,

I've worked on Centos and have no idea about Debian based installation, but
I think you need to share /var/lib/one, because there are some other
files/folders than images which are being used. for example,
/var/lib/one/.one/ is the path to authentication files, which servers
should see in a shared storage model to login without being asked for
password.

Hello guys,

I'm here again.

I choosed to use .deb package instalation instead build source code.

But, when I execute $ sudo dpkg -i opennebula_3.0.0-1_amd64.deb
I get this error message:

Desempacotando opennebula (de opennebula_3.0.0-1_amd64.deb) ...

Processando gatilhos para ureadahead ...
Processando gatilhos para man-db ...
Erros foram encontrados durante o processamento de:
 opennebula_3.0.0-1_amd64.deb

(Sorry, it is in brazilian portuguese)

Summarizing we got a error like:

dpkg: error processing opennebula_3.0.0-1_amd64.deb (- install):
  error setting ownership of '/ var / lib / one / remotes.dpkg-new':
Operation not allowed

I'm not so sure, but I believe that occurs because the shared file system.
As all the files have a different owner, the front-end cannot write
anything in this directory.

So, the question is:

Have I wich to share only the directory /var/lib/one/images, or the whole
/var/lib/one?
Does exist a file to put permissions of the shared directory?

Very thanks guys.

Best regards

This is up to you, but I would keep the image repository on the
front end or eventually on the second system without VT. So you
could use the two systems with VT as two identical cluster nodes.

And now I have a little more question:

With a NFS server configured. I have the Image Repository sharing its

Yes, and also on the front end.

- Or Haven't I to do this? Does the directory only be mount when it is
necessary? (sudo mount ...)

It needs to be already mounted when OpenNebula will deploy a VM.

And, if I edit the /etc/fstab, Do I have to do this in the node
ImageRepository+Cluster at the same time? I hope not, because the directory
is on the machine

I am not sure about OpenNebula 3.0, but with 2.2 the image
repository and also the VM_DIR folder need to be mounted in the
same path as they are on the front end.

At the time I'm using the second strategy: Using a Core2Duo as a Front-End
and release all
resources of the server to be use by cloud.
I choose this option because it is more close to the proposal of official
OpenNebula Documentation.
I hope it works now!

So I use one of my servers (With VT) as a Image Repository too.

And now I have a little more question:

With a NFS server configured. I have the Image Repository sharing its
directory /var/lib/one. My doubt is:
- Have I to insert the shared directory in the file /etc/fstab on all my
nodes? So the node already have this directory avaiable when the machine
starts.
- Or Haven't I to do this? Does the directory only be mount when it is
necessary? (sudo mount ...)

And, if I edit the /etc/fstab, Do I have to do this in the node
ImageRepository+Cluster at the same time? I hope not, because the directory
is on the machine

Thanks for the help.

Regards,

Matheus Torquato

I have a system with Core2Duo CPU which does support VT, so I am
not sure if this is not available for all Core2Duo CPUs or not,
but check out [1], this could probably help you to enable VT on
this systems (if available) too.

Else as pointed out in a other recent post to this mailing list,
you could use XEN on this two systems without VT, but then you
are limited to paravirtualization. As far as I know, the guest OS
in the VM needs to support this.

My doubt is the following:
- Can I use a server as Front-End + Image Repository + Cluster at the same
time?

You can, I have running the front end and the cluster node on a
single system. When adding the "local" cluster node, I used
'onehost create localhost im_kvm vmm_kvm tm_nfs'. Also adding the
other systems as cluster nodes will be possible.

- Or, It's more advantageous use a Core2Duo as a Front-End and release all
resources of the server to be use by cloud?

This depends on the usage of the OpenNebula cloud as a whole. On
a rather small installation, it is probably not a problem to use
the front end also as a cluster node.

Yes, i think so.

Yes, it's more powerful, but maybe for academic purposes you don't need
so much resources. it depends on the number of VMs you will deploy and
on the usage of those VMs.

[one-users] Little help with first building cloud

2011-11-23 Thread matheus tor4
Hello everybody, I'm newbie in this email list.

I'm a student from Brazil, and I building a private cloud using OpenNebula
3.0, KVM and Ubuntu Server 11.04.

But, a have a little questions about Opennebula Architecture. I see in the
Planning Installation, the front-end only requires ruby>1.8.1.
And the hosts require the hypervisor enabled.

I have only two servers (With VT) and two Core2Duo (Without VT). I want to
build a little private cloud.
It's my first experience with cloud computing. It's my last job in the
university.

My doubt is the following:
- Can I use a server as Front-End + Image Repository + Cluster at the same
time?
- Or, It's more advantageous use a Core2Duo as a Front-End and release all
resources of the server to be use by cloud?

Sorry my bad English.

Thanks a lot.

Regards,
Matheus Torquato.
