A mysql-based solution would probably be a bit worse for us, as we know
how to run fully redundant cluster filesystems -- but don't really know
how to make mysql (reliably) highly available..

As (AFAIU) SOGo can use repcached, could maybe also SOGoSync use the same?
Or some other replicated db that voids the single point of failure a
normal relational DB would be.

First check if the system user sogo and its home directory were made
during package installation. If they are there, then configure SOGo,
as described in the documentation, using the defaults tool ( defaults
write sogod ), and then restart sogo.

Show your SOGo configure _AND_ your SOGo's Apache configuration file. We
haven't yet developed the skills to go read those magically everywhere.

x-webobjects-server-port should likely be "80" for an http url.

Sure. I think it wouldn't go against the standards to offer such an option.
Here's an extract from RCF 2446 (iTIP):

3.2.2.2 Updating or Reconfirmation of an Event

   The "Organizer" of an event may also send unsolicited "REQUEST"
   methods. The unsolicited "REQUEST" methods may be used to update the
   details of the event without rescheduling it, to update the
   "partstat" parameter of "Attendees", or to reconfirm the event.

I currently have Thunderbird 3.1.7 working with the three Inverse
plugins under the following environments:

Debian Squeeze 64 bit OS and 32 bit TBird and Plugins.
Debian Squeeze 32 bit OS and 32 bit TBird and Plugins.
Ubuntu 10.04 32 bit OS and 32 bit TBird and Plugins.
Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit OS and 64 bit Tbird and Plugins.
Windows XP Pro 32 bit OS 32 bit TBird and Plugins.
Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit OS 32 bit TBird and Plugins.
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS 32 bit TBird and Plugins.

I have not noticed any performance issues with these systems. I do
however disable some features that became default in the '3' series.
These features are:

1) Turn off message synchronizing.
2) Uncheck Enable Global Search and Indexer.

I found that with either / both these settings turned on, my Thunderbird
performance went down the tubes...

- From a calendar perspective, the Inverse plugins work as promised, with
the exception of the 'Invitee Status Icon' not displaying in any of the
Linux configurations. Which brings me to my next point...

I've been doing this for a enough years, on both sides of the table
(support and end user) to know that the reason I'm not getting an answer
to my issue is because I have not made the issue clear enough for the
developers to reproduce the issue. I know that once they can see the
issue on a test system, they can begin to correct it.

If you want a better product, you probably want more in your bug reports
then just 'Lightning is crappy'. This is not only unproductive, but a
bit insulting.

Open source developers want to create a great product! Any programmer
can take the 'easy' road of 9 to 5 commercial programming... But it
takes a group that loves to code to put together an open source project
like SOGo. Yes, there are issues, and yes, there will always be bugs...
And your bug or issue may not be at the top of the list for the
developers... But at the end of the day, I'd rather work with open
source people then faceless software companies and day of the week!

This would be cool... I'm betting my problem is missing graphics or the
old 'case sensitivity' issue with Unix flavored OSs, but alas, there is
nothing on the command line, or in any of the error logs that would
indicate a problem...

Just my two cents...

2011-01-06 Thread Stuart Sheldon

Ok, Here is a summary of what we are seeing... Should I file a bug report?

When viewing a calendar event created by the current user in
Thunderbird, or through the web interface, after clicking on the
'Attendees' link via the Inverse Lightning plugin, the small round
graphics that indicate attendee status are missing.

When clicking on a calendar event that the current user has not created
but has been invited to, the small round graphics that indicate attendee
status are visible and correct.

1) This problem exists in both Debian and Ubuntu, 64 and 32 bit.

2) This problem does not exist under Windows.

All installs were tested using the Mozilla Thunderbird build from the
Mozilla website, as well as the Ubuntu version of Thunderbird.

All installs were done from scratch including a default OS install.

Problem is easily duplicated:

Install Debian Squeeze with default installation settings, then install
Thunderbird from the Mozilla site, then install Lightning and connector
from the SOGo site, then install the modified version of integrator to
attach to your server.

Thunderbird is currently installed in '/usr/local/thunderbird'.

Error log shows no errors or warnings.

Please advise any additional tests you would like us to run...

Again, should we file a bug report?

Thanks again in advance,

 Some More Info...

 This issue appears to only effect Linux Debian and Ubuntu. I have tested
 and verified that the status indicator icons appear properly in the
 Windows version.

 My testing is limited to 64bit Debian, and 32bit Ubuntu, as all our
 office systems run Squeeze 64bit, and my laptop runs 32bit Ubuntu.

 Sorry for not bringing this fact out sooner. Please advise on any
 additional steps you would like us to do to test this further.

RE: [SOGo] Openldap group in address book

2011-01-06 Thread Guimont , Éric
Hi !

Here is what I did to make postfix decompose OpenLDAP group to use it with SOGo
and Thunderbird.
My SOGo server (1.3.4) is a Debian Lenny and I have two MTA also with Debian
Lenny.

Create a file /etc/postfix/ldap-groups.cf on your MTAs:

  version = 3
  port = 389
  server_host = 192.168.0.1
  scope = sub
  search_base = dc=mydomain,dc=org
  query_filter = mail=%s
  special_result_attribute = member
  leaf_result_attribute = mail

Modify /etc/postfix/main.cf:

  virtual_alias_maps = ldap:/etc/postfix/ldap-groups.cf

Restart postfix, and create a group with a ldif file:

  dn: cn=Administrateurs,ou=People,dc=mydomain,dc=org
  objectClass: top
  objectClass: groupOfNames
  objectClass: extensibleObject
  cn: Administrateurs
  mail: administrat...@mydomain.org
  member: uid=guimonte,ou=People,dc=mydomain,dc=org
  member: uid=simmonsa,ou=People,dc=mydomain,dc=org

And add it with ldapadd:

  ldapadd -x -D "cn=admin,dc=mydomain,dc=org" -w password -v -f
administrateur.ldif

And now I can send mail to this group and it works fine!

That won't work in SOGo directly - it won't decompose the group when
sending mails.

You could nonetheless do that at the MTA level. Simply create a LDAP map
that decomposes the group based on its members, trivial to do with Postfix.

[SOGo] ANN: SOGo ZEG with Native Outlook Compatibility - TP1

2011-01-06 Thread Ludovic Marcotte
Inverse is proud to announce the first downloadable version of SOGo ZEG
with native Microsoft Outlook compatibility.

The virtual appliance consists of the latest development version of
SOGo, SOPE and OpenChange, properly installed and configured. Note that
the native Microsoft Outlook compatibility is still *considered as
experimental*. The fundamentals have been developed and the progress
towards an end-user usable version will be fast from now on.

Nonetheless, we release this "Technology Preview" ZEG edition to show
how promising this is.

== Getting it ==

To download ZEG "Technology Preview", simply point your browser to
http://www.sogo.nu/english/downloads/zeg.html

Look for "Virtual Appliance - Native Outlook Compatibility".

== Configuring Microsoft Outlook ==

First, you need to make sure you use Microsoft Outlook 2003. Right now,
this is the only supported version. Microsoft Outlook 2007 and 2010 will
soon be supported. We decided to first support Microsoft Office 2003 for
simplicity during the development cycles.

Prior configuring Microsoft Outlook, you first must boot the virtual
appliance. Make sure you're using a bridged network adapter and once the
virtual appliance has booted, write down the IP address being used by it.

From your Windows operating system, open the the
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts" using Notepad and add the IP
address of the SOGo ZEG applicance:

  sogo.openchange.local sogo

like :

192.168.1.3   sogo.openchange.local sogo

To configure Microsoft Outlook 2003, first open the Control Panel and
double-click on the Mail icon. Click on the "E-mail Accounts..." button
and add a new email account. Then, choose "Microsoft Exchange Server"
account using the following parameters :

 * IP address of the virtual appliance in the "Microsoft Exchange
Server:" field

 * Uncheck "Use Cached Exchange Mode"
 * Type in "openchange" in the "User Name:" field and don't click on
"Check Name"

 * Then click on the "More Settings..." button and discard the warning
 * In the "Microsoft Exchange Server" window, click "Ok" to continue
 * From the "Security" tab, check "Always prompt for user name and
password"

 * Click "Ok" to close the window
 * Click "Next" and "Finish"
 * Click again on the "E-mail Accounts..." button and modify the newly
created account

 * Select "View or change existing e-mail accounts" and click "Next"
 * From the "E-mail Accounts" window, set the "Deliver new e-mail to
the following locations:" to "OpenChange Mailbox - openchange" and click
on "Finish", and "Close"

If at any point you're asked to provide an username/password, simply use
"openchange" as the value of both. Right now, the ONLY usable account
from Microsoft Outlook is the "openchange" one. This limitation will
very soon be removed.

From Microsoft Outlook 2003, you should be able to perform normal
operations such as :

 * Lists contacts, mails, events and tasks in your personal folders
 * Create contacts, events and tasks in your personal folders
 * Send and receive mails, consult the Inbox and Sent Items folders
 * Create notes (which are stored on the filesystem, and not in SOGo)

Other operations, such as free busy lookups will soon be available.
Also, we created a small FAQ section with various Q&A on the current
state of things at :

http://www.sogo.nu/english/nc/support/faq/select_category/9.html

You can of course use SOGo on the ZEG at any moment (with the sogo1,
sogo2, sogo3 and openchange users) - simply open "http://"
from your favorite web browser. The mail domain is "example.com" in case
you want to send mails to ZEG users.

== Installation / Update ==

Both SOGo and SOPE were installed from the Monotone repository while
OpenChange was installed using the "sogo" branch from their official
Subversion server.
To update those components on ZEG, simply sudo as root. Then, to update
SOGo, do:

cd /home/sogo/SOGo
mtn pull
mtn update; make install

To update SOPE, do:

cd /home/sogo/SOPE
mtn pull
mtn update; make install

To update OpenChange, do:

cd /home/sogo/openchange/sogo
svn update; make clean; make install

For OpenChange, you can also refer to those instructions:
http://tracker.openchange.org/projects/openchange/wiki/HowTo_Update_OpenChange_and_Samba_From_Source

Once done, simply restart the "sogo" service and also the "samba" service :

/etc/init.d/sogo restart
stop openchange
start openchange

See /etc/init/openchange.conf for details on the OpenChange/Samba
Upstart script. The SOGo/OpenChange log is located in
/var/log/openchange.log.

== Helping Out ==

There are many ways you can help us. You can:

 * spread the good word about this technology preview!
 * follow our development in the users@sogo.nu mailing list and update
regularly the components mentioned above
 * contact us if you want to sponsor specific features with regard to
Outlook / SOGo compatibility

Special thanks to the OpenChange developers for helping us

Steps taken to trouble shoot:

1) Tried on a different computer with multiple browsers (Firefox,
Chrome, Safari).
2) Deleted sogo user with sogo-tool. Logged back in which created sogo

3) Created account in Thunderbird to confirm IMAP was functioning

I can see SOGo logging into the IMAP server in the dovecot logs, so
that isn't the problem. No other users are complaining of the issue,
and I've not installed any updates in at least 10 weeks. User claimed
it began just before our winter break which started 12/17.

Any ideas on what to look at next?

You might want to sniff the IMAP session for that user (SOGo <-> IMAP
server). Could be tricky if you don't have a test environment and tons
of traffic.

[SOGo] sogo connector and carddav

2011-01-06 Thread Tomaž Štucin

Hi,

I've successfully setup sogo and it worka OK but I have 2 questions for
which I cannot find the answer.
1. Is it possible to have a fancier url when connecting to an address
book/calendar via thunderbird (+sogo connector) than
http://sogo.example.com/SOGo/dav/user123/Contacts/C7B-4D082300-1-2C48A9C/ (or
similar)? How is a user supposed to get that url anyway (I forged it
from the data I've found in sogo DB and it actually works!)
2. For the problem under 1. I have successfuly setup a script + some
apache rewrite rules so I can use
http://calendar.example.com/user123/calendar_name/ and it works (I can
post them somewhere if anybody is interested). The problem is with the
contacts as the sogo connector is somehow hardcoded so that the url must
include "SOGo" in it or it will not even make a request. Is this a bug
or a feature? Is it possible to turn it off?

Thank you very much for your answers.

best regards

Re: [SOGo] FreeBSD startup script

2011-01-06 Thread Euan Thoms

OK, glad you got SOGo to
  compile on FreeBSD. What version do you use btw? I'm using
  8.1-RELEASE myself.  For reference, I don't think I actually
  needed to add to LD_LIBRARY_PATH for it to install for me, if you
  source the GNUstep.sh file, it should be enough to compile
  SOPE/SOGo:

  #source /usr/local/GNUstep/System/Library/Makefiles/GNUstep.sh

  After a make install, you need to copy from the source files the
  "SOGo-1.3.4/Apache/SOGo.conf" to
  "/usr/local/etc/apache22/Includes/" or wherever you put apache
  module conf files. Mine looks like this:

  #cat /usr/local/etc/apache22/Includes/SOGo.conf
  Alias /SOGo.woa/WebServerResources/
/usr/local/GNUstep/Local/Library/SOGo/WebServerResources/
Alias /SOGo/WebServerResources/
/usr/local/GNUstep/Local/Library/SOGo/WebServerResources/
AliasMatch /SOGo/so/ControlPanel/Products/(.*)/Resources/(.*)
/usr/local/GNUstep/Local/Library/SOGo/$1.SOGo/Resources/$2
