[SOGo] Announce OpenGroupware-5.5rc1

2012-02-02 Thread Sebastian Reitenbach
Hello,

this mail is not meant to convert SOGo users to OpenGroupware ;)
Its just to say thanks to the SOGo team for hosting and maintaining SOPE, and
for the cooperation,
getting fixes into SOPE needed by OpenGroupware.
I hope this will also stay this way in the future.

For the interested about OpenGroupware, read below the announcement message.

cheers,
Sebastian

the OpenGroupware team is proud to annouce the release of the first release
candidate of OpenGroupware 5.5.

This OpenGroupware is a fork of OpenGroupware.org 1.1 from Skyrix. The source
is now hosted on SourceForge:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/opengroupware/

You will also find information about OpenGroupware on
http://www.opengroupware.us/

It has undergone a long way and major changes to switch from old gnustep-make
1/libFoundation to gnustep-make 2 and gnustep-base.
Further OpenGroupware now depends on the SOPE fork maintained by the SOGo
developers at Inverse.
A lot of changes went into OpenGroupware, and also SOPE to resolve
compatibility and stability issues.

What is OpenGroupware

OpenGroupware is a web based groupware system:
* LDAP or database authentication
* manage contacts/companies
* manage tasks
* E-Mail Web Mail (IMAP client)
* project and document management
* GroupDAV interface
* scripting Interface via zOGI
* and more...

What's new
=
* replaced dependency of gnustep-make V1.X with gnustep-make V2.X
* replaced dependency of libFoundation with gnustep-base
* now based on SOPE from SOGo team
* Experimental new features:
 * CTI with Asterisk
  * allows you to trigger calls via the Web Interface
 * Integration with location based services
 * geocoding of addresses using the Google Geocoding API
 * show list of contacts on a MAP
 * links to location based services on the Web for addresses
* SNSD5 support dropped
 * this happened due to changes in SOPE
 * we are working on how to get OGo multiple instances support back

Where to get it

You can download the tarball here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/opengroupware/files/

For installation instructions, needed dependencies, consult the INSTALL file in
the tarball.

Where to get help
==
Best way is to ask for help on one of the mailing lists here:
http://sourceforge.net/mail/?group_id=308294

Meet OpenGroupware developer at the FOSDEM: www.fosdem.org. There will be a talk
about the new OGo release:
http://www.fosdem.org/2012/schedule/event/opengroupware

Yes, indeed, that is the goal. I'm also maintaining the SOPE/SOGo packages for
OpenBSD.
Whenever we have a patch against SOPE, that makes OGo, and in some cases SOGo
more happier,
we definitely like to have it in the SOPE source tree, so reporting it upstream.
On the long yourney to port OGo to gnustep-base/new SOPE, a couple of patches
to SOPE went in from me, fixing issues for both SOGo anb OGo.

Sebastian

So you also drive a car without a drivers license because you don't have the
time and expertise?

Well, you don't need to be an expert to setup all the stuff. It only takes a
couple of days to learn
the basics of each to figure out how they play together. Think about it for a
minute, afterwards,
you will know what to backup, and how to restore, in case of a disaster. You
already thought
about something like this happen, don't you?

Good to know then ;)

Lets pick an example of a web installer: SugarCRM, there the installer/upgrader
is a real mess, OK its easy, but it requires the admin to have all
files/directories writable by the UID running Apache, ask yourself, how sane is
that?
That's the same problem nearly any web based installers have. Or do you run
your apache as root? Hope not ;)
And for example, I run SOGo on OpenBSD, where Apache is chrooted by default, so
it would be impossible to use a web based installer to get SOGo installed in
"normal" system locations.

Sebastian

[SOGo] problem sending to some e-mail addresses

2012-09-03 Thread Sebastian Reitenbach
Hi,

since upgrading to SOPE/SOGo 1.3.18, I have problems sending mails to
gap-dev-disc...@nongnu.org, and as I just recognized, to users@sogo.nu too.

When I just create a new mail, enter the recipient address into the to field,
the e-mail address
automatically changes to

Then I enter subject and body, and send it. However, in the Sent folder, the
mail does not have a To: field
it empty, when I view the message source via SOGo web interface:

User-Agent: SOGoMail 1.3.18
X-Forward: 127.0.0.1
MIME-Version: 1.0

date: Mon, 03 Sep 2012 15:05:32 +0200
content-length: 1909
content-transfer-encoding: 7bit

When I reply to a message, then the e-mail address is without the <> in the To:
field.
Sending this message out, There is a To: field in the mail header, but the last
two characters are stripped.

The envelope seems to get created well, see from the SOGo log files using SMTP
mailing mechanism:

It doesn't matter if I switch to using sendmail mailing mechanism. In my mail
log, I see the mail going out,
but with the broken or missing To field.

The same problem is in OpenGroupware too. Sending a mail to this e-mail address,
it only sends to gap-dev-discuss@nongnu.o
instead of using the full address in the To field. I can send to other addresses
and lists successfully, this is
the only address where I recognized this strange problem.

Any idea where this could come from? How to debug this? Since OpenGroupware has
the same problem,
there must be somewhere in SOPE. Any hint on what may have changed there, and
where to look is appreciated.
A suggestion where I should put a breakpoint?

For the time being, I have to resort back to use GNUMail to send to that list ;)

cheers,
Sebastian

thanks a bundle. I'm usually skimming through the BTS Activity mails, but
obviously overlooked this report.

testing with this mail whether it works ;)

gdb /usr/local/sbin/sogod
gdb > r -WOUseWatchDog NO -WOLogFile - -WONoDetach YES

should start only a single thread, and keep it running in the foreground in gdb.

but isn't it also good practice to have local copies available of the software
installed on production systems so you do not need to rely on third party
(or this weirdo thing called Internet) for roll backs or in other worst case
scenarios?

just my two cents,

Will there also be an update of the Sources to fix the problem, like a 2.0.2a

[SOGo] -WOLogFile - parameter doesn't print to stdout

2013-01-02 Thread Sebastian Reitenbach
Hi,

running SOGo "manually" like this:
/usr/local/sbin/sogod -WOUseWatchDog NO -WOLogFile - -WONoDetach YES

doesn't seem to print out the logs on the console anymore as it did with the
last version, or some versions ago. Don't remember when it stopped.
Instead it fills the the configured log file.
$ defaults read | grep WOLogFile
sogod WOLogFile /var/log/sogo/sogod.log

Running OpenGroupware similarly with -WOLogFile - just works as expected
and prints out the logs on the console.

Did I missed something?

OK thanks. I was just wondering, since the other two parameters specified
on the command line seemed to be honoured. Not a big issue.
Just wanted to make sure that I'm just not doing something wrong here,
or missed something.

I'm not a real sogo guy, only maintaining the sogo openbsd packages,
I'm meeting with the GNUstep people at the Argus hotel[2] at 7:30 in the lobby
and then go to Big Mama [1] for lunch at 8:00. We still have one place free
there.
If you want to join in, just come either to the hotel, or directly to Big Mama.
Otherwise, might meet you on the Campus on the weekend.

It seems you have compiled libobjc2 with debugging. Reinstall it without

I've seen the same on OpenBSD, this patch to sogo should help:
http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb/ports/www/sogo/patches/patch-UI_MailPartViewers_GNUmakefile?rev=1.2;content-type=text%2Fplain

But you'd have to rebuild SOGo on your own.

For the case you may not care about what letters are before the *BSD, you may
want
to look at OpenBSD. Just two days ago I updated sogo port to 2.2.9a in OpenBSD
-current.
Still without activesync, but I hope with 2.2.10, I'll have it as a subpackage
for those who
need it.

Oh well, no ZFS on OpenBSD, so, maybe not an option for you ;)

I cannot really give you a hint for you on FreeBSD, but I'm nearly done with
the ports of sope and sogo (1.3.2) for OpenBSD. On OpenBSD there is gnustep-
base stable in the ports which is used.
You may take a look here:

Maybe it gives you a hint, but I cannot remember having seen error like you

[SOGo] SOGo and ProxyPassInterpolateEnv

2010-10-04 Thread Sebastian Reitenbach
Hi,

while porting SOGo to OpenBSD I found in the Apache/SOGo.conf file the lines:

ProxyPassInterpolateEnv On
ProxyPass /SOGo http://127.0.0.1:2/SOGo interpolate

I am wondering what features of SOGo needs the ProxyPassInterpolateEnv On and
the interpolate statement in the ProxyPass directive.
I am adding a README file for the differences to running SOGo on OpenBSD
compared to Linux. I got a patch to the httpd in, which adds the RequestHeader
directive to the mod_headers module. The httpd distributed with OpenBSD system
is a heavily patched Apache 1.3. The only thing that now is left is this
ProxyPassInterpolateEnv.
It works fine for me with the httpd in base, I did not ran into any problems
yet, just want to know what might not work when the httpd doesn't support this
directive, to be able to add a statement about it to the README file, and to
recommend to install Apache2 in case people will need that feature.

regards,
Sebastian

Many thanks for this.
I just upgraded to sope/sogo 1.3.8 on OpenBSD/i386 (gnustep-make-2.6.1,
gnustep-base-1.22.1). Afterwards I now had to recognize that in the mail list,
the columns are shifted one to the right, so the subject appears under From,
and and the Sender appears under the glasses icon and so on. The Sent folder
has the same problem. See attached screenshot.
I logged in with two different accounts, both show this problem.
Further, I'm not sure whether this is new: To reply on this mail, I clicked the
"Reply All" icon, but it only took the users@sogo.nu as recipient in the mail.
I had to add you manually.

Is there anything that can be done at least against the first problem?

I also forgot to replace the webserver resources. After exchanging them, the
problem went away.
My fault.

I ran into the same issue with firefox 5, but already got some help here on the
list, two things may help you:
 * did you updated the web server resources? My apache runs chrooted, and I
forgot to update the webserver resources into the chroot.
 * refresh the Firefox browser cache, use Ctrl+F5.

The "good old" OpenGroupware has such a feature. When configured, it shows a
small phone icon next to each telephone number in the web interface.
It has two ways in which it can be configured:
 * the first way is via an external script: the link behind the phone icon
points to an external web page, and some parameters are handed over to it, i.e.
the login name.
   * the script then looks into the OGo database, to figure out the phone
number of the caller to initiate the call
 * the second way is using the Dialer Interface, and having a plugin.OGo has
plugins for STLI (whatever this is), and Asterisk, which I wrote some time ago,
which uses information from the database, and then connects to the Asterisk
management interface to initiate the call

so just some ideas how it could be done ;)

[SOGo] problem importing public calendar from google calendar

2011-09-08 Thread Sebastian Reitenbach
Hi,

I'm trying to import a calendar from google. The google calendar is shared
publicly, the URL is like this:
http://www.google.com/calendar/ical/u...@domain.com/public/basic.ics

The calendar publishs free busy information.

When i add the calendar to the sogo web interface, I see the following in the
logs:

I think IPv6 capabilities depend on gnustep-base. I've seen IPv6 related changes
going into gnustep-base trunk svn a couple of days ago.

Not sure whether sth. in SOPE/SOGo would need to be changed to make use of it.

Maybe you need a ; after port=389

will there maybe a minor release i.e. SOPE 1.3.9.1 to fix just this issue?
Or is this just the patch:
http://mtn.inverse.ca/revision/diff/6eaf4a45ce4e94507a541be4594b94f2adc500a6/with/251b4565fb618249a9be38b2f6e86da9f39d8945
Or is there more, there are more patches, but they don't really seem to be
related, or are they?

I want to update the openbsd ports. I personally don't use mysql, but others
may, and I don't want to be bugged by those people after the upgrade, so I'd
like to include the fix for this issue too ;)

cheers,
Sebastian

[SOGo] unable to see mails in subfolder when SOGoMailAuxiliaryUserAccountsEnabled YES

2011-11-08 Thread Sebastian Reitenbach
Hi,

I have SOGoMailAuxiliaryUserAccountsEnabled, and created a second account
pointing to gmail.

I can see the folder list from this account, and also the subfolders, but I see
only mails in the Inbox or in folders parallel to the inbox.
When I go down the tree in the webinterface, entering the folders below the top
level, then the spinning wheel starts to spin, and after some time it stops
spinning, but the messages are not shown in the list. Also, usually when I
enter an empty folder, I see the message over the message list: No message, but
this message doesn't appear when I enter a subfolder of the gmail account.

In the sogo log I see the following

Nov 08 15:26:02 sogod [17661]: [ERROR] <0x0x6941fd88[NGImap4Connection]> could

My imap server for the main account is a cyrus imapd.

is there anything what I can do about it, maybe I missed sth. to configure?

I use sope/sogo 1.3.9.

I have sth. similar with a auxilary mail account, see the message to this list
with the subject:
unable to see mails in subfolder when SOGoMailAuxiliaryUserAccountsEnabled YES

and I opened a bug report:

This works for me, but I already run 1.3.9. Do you see anything in the LDAP
logs?
SOGo will be updated on OpenBSD -current to 1.3.9 in the next days ;)

maybe its sufficient for you to protect it with PF like proposed in the
memcached installation message?

No idea about the other problems, but I think they are more general, and not
bound to OpenBSD.

I just sent patches to ports@ for sope and sogo, so you may try it. The patches
are against OpenBSD -current, but should also work for a 5.0 ports tree (well,
I haven't tested it, but should work ;).

I looked into it once, but it was very weird. However, there is just p2k11
right now. I have a lot of other stuff on my todo list, but when there is time
left, I can also look into funambol again. Actually, I personally don't have a
need for it, since I just down'n own a smartphone of any kind ;)

also for me on OpenBSD, from time to time, sogod freaks out. One sogod process
is running the Watchdog, and the other, is busy. This usually happens when in
the web interface, reading mail. Connecting with gdb to the process, a stack
trace looks like this:

well, having a working backup/restore procedure in place should mitigate the
problem.
