Re: [DISCUSS] Zeppelin community sync up meeting
For scheduling, the Lucene/Solr community uses Doodle, and that has worked for scheduling across various timezones. Here is a link to a recent meeting: https://doodle.com/poll/74vecyph5y3fsvqn?utm_source=poll&utm_medium=link <https://doodle.com/poll/74vecyph5y3fsvqn?utm_source=poll&utm_medium=link> One thing I really like is that the meeting is used to gain understanding of current issues, however no “decisions” are made at the meeting. Instead, those are tee’ed up for discussion on the mailing list, so that those who can’t make it, get a chance to weigh in. Plus there are pretty detailed notes taken and sometimes a screen recording. > On Feb 5, 2021, at 8:48 AM, Jeff Zhang wrote: > > Hi Folks, > > I would suggest discussing the details in slack channel (We have an asf > zeppelin channel, but no activities recently, let's use it again). Re: [Proposal] Zeppelin Client API (Zeppelin SDK)
Thanks Jeff for sharing this. I’ve often wanted to take what I did in my notebook, and then make that logic flow something that could be triggered by other processes. I used the CRON feature that was available always in the 8.x line of Zeppelin, and had the end of my notebook be a HTTP PUT with my output calculations for example ;-). I’m not sure about the term High and Low. The other project that I saw that used those terms was Apache Poi, and they had a high-level API about a Excel spreadsheet, that abstracted a lot away, and then a very low-level one where you were working with, and then a low level one where you worked with the basic datastructures. I would think that “High Level” is the working with notebooks and paragraphs, but without really knowing what was going on inside of them. I interact with Notebook X and Notebook Y, but they are blackboxes to me. Whereas the “Low Level” would be the “I am actually running code against Zeppelin, and understand how to run code on Zeppelin”. I know this is the opposite of your definition! Thanks! I discovered I could do this with Pandas: groupedLabelsStyle = groupedLabelsDF.style.applymap(color_negative_red, subset=['entropy_total’]) And then in another paragraph do: %python print ("%html " + groupedLabelsStyle.render()) However, I did accidentally create a 50 MB notebook due to the size of the data and the HTML, so I had to manually using VI edit my notebook to recover ;-) > On Apr 21, 2020, at 7:14 PM, Jeff Zhang <mailto:zjf...@gmail.com>> wrote: > > You can use %html for table cell, here's one example. > > http://zeppelin.apache.org/docs/0.9.0-preview1/usage/display_system/basic.html#html > > <http://zeppelin.apache.org/docs/0.9.0-preview1/usage/display_system/basic.html#html> > > > Eric Pugh <mailto:ep...@opensourceconnections.com>> 于2020年4月22日周三 上午5:31写道: > Is there any way to tweak colours of text or backgrounds in the tables in > Zeppelin? Re: [VOTE] Release Apache Zeppelin 0.9.0-preview1 (RC1)
Out of curiosity, is there a Docker version of 0.9.0 preview1 available? I tend to run Zeppelin as a Docker image, and I know I had some challenges with the 0.8.x line of Docker images from https://hub.docker.com/r/apache/zeppelin <https://hub.docker.com/r/apache/zeppelin>. I did modify the ./scripts/docker/zeppelin/Dockerfile to load the v0.0.0-preview1-rc1.bin.tgz distribution. Then I followed the steps in docs/setup/deployment/docker.md to try out Zeppelin and it all appears to work as a Docker image! One thing to note was that it didn’t auto upgrade my old .json files into the new .zpln files. I had to manually upload them. Is there any auto upgrade feature for existing notebook files? So non binding +1 ;-) Eric > On Mar 25, 2020, at 1:54 AM, Jongyoul Lee wrote: > > +1 > > 2020년 3월 24일 (화) 오전 12:15, Jeff Zhang <mailto:zjf...@gmail.com>>님이 작성: > Hi folks, > > I propose the following RC to be released for the Apache Zeppelin > 0.9.0-preview1 release. > > > The commit id is a74365c0813b451db1bc78def7d1ad1279429224 : > https://gitbox.apache.org/repos/asf?p=zeppelin.git;a=commit;h=a74365c0813b451db1bc78def7d1ad1279429224 > > <https://gitbox.apache.org/repos/asf?p=zeppelin.git;a=commit;h=a74365c0813b451db1bc78def7d1ad1279429224> > > This corresponds to the tag: v0.9.0-preview1-rc1 : > https://gitbox.apache.org/repos/asf?p=zeppelin.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/tags/v0.9.0-preview1-rc1 > > <https://gitbox.apache.org/repos/asf?p=zeppelin.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/tags/v0.9.0-preview1-rc1> > > The release archives (tgz), signature, and checksums are here > https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/zeppelin/zeppelin-0.9.0-preview1-rc1/ > <https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/zeppelin/zeppelin-0.9.0-preview1-rc1/> > > The release candidate consists of the following source distribution archive > zeppelin-v0.9.0-preview1.tgz > > In addition, the following supplementary binary distributions are provided > for user convenience at the same location > zeppelin-0.9.0-preview1-bin-all.tgz > > > The maven artifacts are here > https://repository.apache.org/content/repositories/orgapachezeppelin-1276/org/apache/zeppelin/ > > <https://repository.apache.org/content/repositories/orgapachezeppelin-1276/org/apache/zeppelin/> > > You can find the KEYS file here: > https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/release/zeppelin/KEYS > <https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/release/zeppelin/KEYS> > > Release notes available at > https://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/ReleaseNote.jspa?version=12342692&styleName=&projectId=12316221 > > <https://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/ReleaseNote.jspa?version=12342692&styleName=&projectId=12316221> > > Vote will be open for next 72 hours (close at 7am 26/March PDT). > > [ ] +1 approve > [ ] 0 no opinion > [ ] -1 disapprove (and reason why) > > > -- > Best Regards > > Jeff Zhang > > > -- > 이종열, Jongyoul Lee, 李宗烈 > http://madeng.net <http://madeng.net/> ___ Eric Pugh | Founder & CEO | OpenSource Connections, LLC | 434.466.1467 | http://www.opensourceconnections.com <http://www.opensourceconnections.com/> | My Free/Busy <http://tinyurl.com/eric-cal> Co-Author: Apache Solr Enterprise Search Server, 3rd Ed <https://www.packtpub.com/big-data-and-business-intelligence/apache-solr-enterprise-search-server-third-edition-raw> This e-mail and all contents, including attachments, is considered to be Company Confidential unless explicitly stated otherwise, regardless of whether attachments are marked as such.

I ended up having a notebook called “shared_code”, and would just always run it before I did any work. That approach worked, but was error prone and made refactoring any complex logic much harder. Editing files on filesystem from Zeppelin?
I’ve been poking around a bit more on the differences between Jupyter and Zeppelin, and it seems like one gap that Zeppelin has is that it’s not really possible to edit a file on the filesystem directly. Everything has to be in a notebook… Am I missing something possibly? If I want to look at some shared code in a python library for example, can I load that file inside of Zeppelin web UI? Will the new Terminal tool let me do a “vi ./lib/shared_code.py” for example? Thanks! How to uninstall or upgrade a Interpreter?
I’m attempting to upgrade a third party interpreter (Solr). What is the right way to upgrade a interpreter? Because I’ve already installed an older one, when I run: ./bin/install-interpreter.sh --name solr --artifact com.lucidworks.zeppelin:zeppelin-solr:0.1.5 I get a error that the “solr” directory already exists.. I looked and don’t see a ./bin/uninstall-interpreter.sh script! Advice on upgrading an existing interpreter?
I’ve got an old version of the zeppelin-solr interpreter. I went to install it, but get the message "Directory /zeppelin/interpreter/solr already exists” and it is skipped.
