2005-12-08 Thread Paul Knight

$50 sounds okay for a pilgrim like myself.  The first week in June does sound better for me than April, gives me more time to save up some money.  My wife Rachel used to live in NY, when she was growning up and went to the UN school there, so she will probably want to hang around for a few more days than the Vloggercom.  So all we really need is a date and then we can start the ball rolling as far as booking stuff is concerned.Paul KnightOn 7 Dec 2005, at 16:28, Josh Leo wrote: I think that it is going to be like a giant pilrgramedge of vloggers to NYV, everyoone who can come will, al the videos of al the meetups all over the place have made those who have never attended one feel a little left out...this is their time to connect with people. 2005-12-08 Thread Paul Knight

Hi HaroldIn FCP you can add text by pressing the little a icon in the slug.  or alternatively make your own title page in something like photoshop and add it in like you would a picture.  If you are using FCP though, why not try using imovie for while first to get you head round things. > I'm looking at Pinnacle and Adobeany suggestions for good movie > making software??> > thanks,> > John> www.stopworking.net/bigcat>      this group gets asked this question often.  the answer to this question really depends on your budget and goals. there are just so many out there these days.       will you be capturing video with your webcam primarily?  will your video projects be more like art full of effects? how important is audio--do you need unlimited tracks or is two mono tracks enough? do you want it to work on your existing computer? are you just looking for "the best" or "the most popular"?     if i had to decide between pinnacle studio and adobe elements (I'm assuming you were referring to these software) I would consider that Pinnacle offers a wider variety of features than elements. that
elements is more stable and elements makes it easy to migrate to premiere if you're ever so inclined. I would also try both (they offer free trial down loads) before I bought either.     Nerissa      Nerissa Odenhttp://TheVideoQueen.com/blog.htmlhttp://FreeVideoCoding.comhttp://FreeMediaGuide.comhttp://FreeVideoEditing.comWhere do Women get answers to their video questions?http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/videowomen/

Re: [videoblogging] A video-blogging streaming-TV station?

2005-12-08 Thread Verdi
Why not just subscribe to vlogs that you like and then watch them in
FireAnt or Mefeedia? Then you get to choose when and what you watch
instead of the TV model where you show up and get what you get.
Plus you'll be able to comment on the videos and read the blog posts
associated with them.

2005-12-08 Thread Adam Quirk

Television is salvation.  Give me one good reason why I shouldn't be watching it RIGHT NOW instead of working, or pseudo-working/reading emails?  It's faster than books, prettier than radio, and easier than the internet.  It is the machine unto which I pray, and one day all of you will be watching it too, breathing shallowly through your open mouths.  It has over 50 channels.

Hey, I *am* watching it right now instead of working. All hail Dr. Phil

Re: [videoblogging] A video-blogging streaming-TV station?

2005-12-08 Thread Michael Sullivan
I am actually working on a new section for vlogdir.com that will blend
the two

I agree with verdi... I mean, it's always been about video on demand
and subscribing to channels. I'm not going to say that it would be an
entire waste of time and totally useless to have a streaming video
channel but it would have to be done right... probably needing to
use SMIL 2.0 maybe with Real Helix or something. Need to know the
video sources when each is being streamed...

So anyway, I am building out a prototype for a new virtual community video room.
Will be a big fun section on vlogdir coming in Janauary =)

Re: [videoblogging] High Def over Internet.

2005-12-08 Thread Justin Chapweske
If you're looking at doing HD, I highly recommend checking out Swarmcast
for the delivery (http://swarmcast.net/). Just put
http://swarmcast.net/swarm/ in front of your URLs to enable it.

This will save you a ton of money and speed up your downloads
considerably. You can also use it for background downloads from your
web site so that it plays back instantly for your users.

Its still in beta, so if you have any problems/feedback, please visit
the forums.

Re: [videoblogging] New poll for videoblogging

2005-12-08 Thread Verdi
I don't think this poll quite works - you're comparing apples and
oranges. Maybe it should be seperated into Mac <$300, Mac >$300, PC <
$300, PC >$300 or something similar.
Personally, I think Final Cut Pro is the best but it costs $1000 and
only works on a Mac. iMovie can't be beat in price vs performance -
Free with your Mac, does most of what most people need to do with video.
Likewise on the PC, Avid DV Express or Premiere Pro have lots of
features but cost big $. Movie Maker is kick ass for free.

I noticed a post on Lessig's blog,

he mentions a report re “fair use” from The Center For Social Media.

Their statement of best practices in fair use (.pdf) looks like it's
intended to make clear what documentary filmmakers currently regard as
reasonable application of the copyright fair use doctrine.

IMO, It's definitely worth a read.

[videoblogging] consistently kid friendly vlog links?

2005-12-08 Thread jonny goldstein
I want to point the kids I work with toward vlogs they can watch that
won't expose them to inappropriate language or material. The kids are
viewing vlogs from schools in an after school program, so it's got to
be the kind of thing parents and school administrators wouldn't mind.

I know there are people who are revlogging linksIs there anyone
revlogging links that are consistently kid friendly? If not, this
would be a great service for someone to step up and provide.

Thanks for any info on this!

[videoblogging] Web Cam Recommendations?

2005-12-08 Thread Aaron Valdez
I'm thinking about getting a webcam for Xmas and was wondering if you
had any recommendations. I have a G4 Power Mac but I'd like to avoid
iSight (even I get tired of buying Mac stuff after a while) and get
something under $100. Any Mac users not using iSight? I need good
audio/video quality, ability to handle low light, and zoom (the option
to add cartoon hats and glasses to my image is not high up on my
list). Thanks and Go!

You could go with a USB webcam, like the IceCam:

  http://www.macally.com/spec/usb/input_device/icecam.html

I've seen them for around $25

If you want to use it with iChat AV though, you will also need IChatUSBCam:

  http://www.ecamm.com/mac/ichatusbcam/

Which is another $10...

(I can't speak to the quality of either of these though, just thought
I'd throw out a cheap solution.)

Re: [videoblogging] New poll for videoblogging

>   o Video wave
>   o Avid Free DV
>   o Roxio Videowave
>   o Magix
>   o Video Explosion

problem 1, it's missing plenty of names

- Ulead make at least two distinct products (VideoStudio and
MediaStudio Pro)
- Pinnacle make at least two distinct products (Studio and Liquid)
- What about the rest of the Avid lineup?
- What about Let's Edit and Edius from canopus
- I use and love Serif VideoPlus 4
- I own and occasionally use ArcSoft ShowBiz
- I own and occasionally use Cosmi Video Editor
- I can't see any of the open source video editors there
- Does Quicktime Pro count as a video editor
- What about AfterEffects and all the other Compositors?
- and I'm sure there are plenty more.

And there isn't even an "other" choice in the poll.

problem 2, "best" for what?

- If you need to read or write certain formats, the choice is limited
- if you only have one particular platform, the choice is limited
- if you want to work in HD, the choice is limited
- if you want to burn a DVD, the choice is limited
- many other things act to narrow down the choice.

In short, I'm not sure a poll like this can ever get any useful
results.

Anyone want to rephrase it?

I'll vouch for the Chelsea Hotel-- that is usually the place I tend to stay if
I dont stay with
friends. The price is right, its in walking distance to most places I enjoy
hanging out at in
Manhattan (just above hipster central... which I am: centrally hip..:)

The place is no 4 star hotel, but I love it just the same.

I should have explained my current set up... I have a rather large

no tripods on the computer desk either.

How involved is that?  How much would a
digital recorder cost?  What program do you need to sync the sound
later?  I have iMovie and Final Cut Express.  I'm still learning the

[videoblogging] MP4 compatibility

compatibility. Will mp4 work with any computer that has quicktime

play mp4 files? Any compression tips?

[videoblogging] Gabe of Xolo VCs interview at Les Blogs

2005-12-08 Thread Enric
Interesting interview of two VC's at Les Blogs by Gabe at Les Blogs:

http://www.xolo.tv/

http://www.blip.tv/file/get/Gabemac-WatchMeXolotvInterviewWithVCsAtLesblogs160.mov

At the end Gabe asks them if there's money in videoblogging.

My gripe is that I found the red filter distracting and degrading of
the image. If I'm watching an interview I want to see the physical
reactions of the participants clearly for meaning and the red made me
not want to watch and only listen.

[videoblogging] DivX - Shameless Plug

2005-12-08 Thread JV
A little shameless plug

http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/

There is a free trial, but if anyone needs a sn, drop me a line and
I'll get you one.

This is the first time we have had our mac development ahead of PC
development (don't worry, the PC side is almost done ;) )

This puts a standard mpeg-4 based playback in the quicktime player,
windows media player, consumer electronics devices. The converter is
very easy, just drag and drop, or you can export from quicktime pro
directly to DivX.

We also have released the open source encoding application Dr. DivX
at www.drdivx.com. It is only compiled for PC right now, but we
should have Linux and Mac installers coming along.

There are a few more widgets we are working on, but they are about a
month out.

If you have any questions, hit me up

Thanks,

Jim V

[videoblogging] Re: External camcorder mic suggestions?

2005-12-08 Thread Bill Streeter
It can be a pain in the ass. But it can be a useful solution too. A
decent digi recorder could cost you as much as a decent lav-mic. And
you'd still need a decent mic. So it might not be the best solution
if your on a budget.

[videoblogging] Re: MP4 compatibility

2005-12-08 Thread Bill Streeter
I tried going the MP4 route once and found it to be more trouble than
anything. Not Win Media compatible. They don't necessarily open in
Quicktime by default (which can be confusing to users when the
computer asks what program to open something with). There isn't really
an obvious way to do fast start. And if you want to use 3ivx it's a
multi step process. You would think that MP4 for video should be the
ubiquitous format for video that MP3 is for audio--but it's not. I
finally just went back to Quicktime.

[videoblogging] Clickable link on a video for comments in iTunes

2005-12-08 Thread bertrand

Hello,I've created a comment link functionality that works in iTunes (iTunes 6.O XP,  6.0.1 OSX), with a graphic overlay on top of the videos :If you want to try it :   1. Open iTunes   2. Select Menu > Advanced > Subscribe to Podcast
   3. Enter : http://podesk.com/linkit.xml(it's a bit slow... it needs some optimizations)   You have to play the video in the separate window, nut not fullscreen.
All the videos have a "Post a comment" text, you can click on it and it will open your browser window at the original video blog page within the comments area. You can also publish videos to this blog using Podesk Publisher
http://podesk.com/Podesk-Publisher.html to try this functionnality that will be part of the next Podesk Server release. Thanks to the Andreas Haugstrup Pedersen's Linkubator (
http://www.solitude.dk/archives/linkubator/) for initial motivation !Nota : it also works in FireANT MAC, but it doesn't work in DTV.Bertrand

Re: [videoblogging] How To Add Title Page/Credits

2005-12-08 Thread Harold Johnson

Thanks Paul, I appreciate your advice.  I believe I'm going to stick with FCP, though.  For one thing, iMovie is much too slow at importing the .mov files I create.  FCP simply opens (or imports) them up right away.  The cannot overemphasize the difference in time that it takes.
So once I create an image, what do I do?  Simply open the image?  Duplicate it a hundred times so that there will be enough frames to fill up a couple of seconds?  (There's an easier way, right?)Thanks again,
HaroldOn 12/8/05, Paul Knight <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:

Hi HaroldIn FCP you can add text by pressing the little a icon in the slug.  or alternatively make your own title page in something like photoshop and add it in like you would a picture.  If you are using FCP though, why not try using imovie for while first to get you head round things. Imovie is very good, it has quite a few limitations, but for easy things like titling it's so easy.

So if I encode with DivX, the video can be played in QT Player and

But the viewer has to have DivX codec installed, right?

So do you use SMIL or do you make a native Quicktime movie? If you're
automating the latter that's very cool.

They will have to have something installed
that can decode divx. I don’t know about the full integration with these
other decoders inside quicktime, but xvid, vlc and a fist full of other
programs can decode DivX video.

[videoblogging] Re: How To Add Title Page/Credits

2005-12-08 Thread Enric
Once an image is opened you can change it's duration in the viewer.
You don't need to duplicate it. Just move the timeline pointer
forward and set the out point. If it's in the timeline, you may be
able to context (ctrl-click), choose duration and make it longer.
This doesn't always work if it thinks the media is at it's length.

RE: [videoblogging] DivX - Shameless Plug

2005-12-08 Thread Jim Vinson

We have playback implementations in all of
these areas. DivX is an mpeg-4 implementation. One mis-understanding is that
because mpeg-4 is a standards based format that they all are about the same
quality. For example, tests show DivX performs better than baseline h.264. That
isn’t to say that h.264 can’t be better than DivX, but baseline
implementations (i.e. h.264 for ipod) won’t be as good as DivX.

By standard, what I mean is that other
encoders can make video streams that can be decoded by divx and vice versa.
There are limitations. We are working on a simple app that can check any video
to see if our decoders can play the video. If it can then it means ALL divx
decoders can play the file, including the 50+ million certified DVD players out
there.

I’m not sure if that was the
question. Am I close?

You can pretty much load Wordpress on any hosting system as long as it
has mySQL available. The instructions for installation are at:

http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress

It can be installed in as little as five minutes.

I haven't added other, but will add anything else anyone suggests.

One can vote for multiple choices, so NLE and encoder too is fine.

Hopefully, over time the poll will serve newbies well as a guide to
what software they should look into.

quality. For example, tests show DivX performs better than baseline h.264. That
isn't to say that h.264 can't be better than DivX, but baseline
implementations (i.e. h.264 for ipod) won't be as good as DivX.

By standard, what I mean is that other
encoders can make video streams that can be decoded by divx and vice versa.
There are limitations. We are working on a simple app that can check any video
to see if our decoders can play the video. If it can then it means ALL divx
decoders can play the file, including the 50+ million certified DVD players out
there.

I'm not sure if that was the
question. Am I close?

The major disadvantage I see to DivX at this point is no playback support on

[videoblogging] blogger template tinkering

2005-12-08 Thread missbhavens1969
I loves me template, but my sidebar is getting sort of out-of-hand in terms of
length. Any
quickie suggestions on how to alter the template to add a second sidebar? I
don't really
know squat about code, and I've been copying/pasting/dickying around with it
(margins, etc)
and getting noplace. I can move the sidebar, but I can't seem create a second
one for the
right-hand side. Seems like there a lot of dead space on my template...I'd love
to make better
use of it.

Can anyone point me in a direction?

[videoblogging] Re: DivX - Shameless Plug

2005-12-08 Thread Steve Watkins
As I understand things, there are 2 technical compatibility issues
which prevent DivX from being of interest to most people interested in
videoblogging and similar activities, like the general explosion of
any kind of internet video.

To be of interest it needs to be able to be progressively downloadable
in the browser using popular software, work in a variety of players
without the need for a special divx decoder, and work on hardware
devices that support mp4.

The first problem is the actual video encoding itself, whether it uses
any features that for example the standard quicktime 6 or 7 cant
decode, or breaks away from the mpeg4 spec entirely. Quicktime can
only handle certain parts of various mpeg4 profiles, so you need to
tell any encoder to use a 'simple profile' to ensure quicktime
compatibility. From what I have read it is (or was in a previous PC
version, I dunno) possible to tell the divx encoder to just create
simple profile mpeg4 video, and this part of the problem is solved,
any mpeg4 decoder should be able to play them then. This is the same
issue as 3ivx has if you use one of their advanced options, it makes
the output video advanced simple profile, rather than just simple
profile, so quicktime cant play it without the 3ivx decoder installed.
But if you dont use that advanced option in 3ivx, compatibility with
standard mpeg4 decoders is a cert.

The second problem is the container format. They chose AVI, and seem
to be resisting offering .mp4 container support, thus spoiling their
chances of appealing to anybody interested in ipod, PSP etc compatible
video. Part of their problem is they came up with their own file
format that is probably based on being AVI-compatible, and then got
into the hardware 'certified player' market. This makes it harder for
them to switch and remain backwards compatible.

For example this forum post seemed to show a particularily negative
attitude towards offering .mp4 support:

However as things stand I believe their avoidance of .mp4 support may
have been a massive own goal that will see their market share sink.
Maybe other existing commercial considerations outweigh the loss of
the entire market for people creating ipod, psp etc content, but
whatever the reason it surely makes it unlikely they will get much
custom from videobloggers.

Dont get me wrong, its nice to see Mac DIVX tools appearing, but these
solutions do not appear to currently address the issues that prevent
DivX being a sane recommendation for videoblog encoding.

Unfortunately I believe that in some ways their plan for the company
is incompatible with the goal of producing fully standard files that
can be played using technology that is nothing to do with DivX. Its a
tough one to call. If they went down that route then they would just
be known as a really good mpeg4 encoder, and would lose the playback
certification side of things and other related potential revenue
streams. Its also true that some technical innovation and improvements
to image quality could be lost, it depends whether most of the magic
of DivX is in being a really good mpeg4 encoder, or whether theyve
added stuff that makes it looks great but will forever require viewers
to have a divx decoder of some kind.

Hi Harold,

Indeed just import it as you would a .mov, then drag and drop it into place with fcp.

(There's an easier way, right?)

Imovie is very good, it has quite a few limitations, but for easy things like titling it's so easy.

Oops sorry I forgot the link to the divx forum post that gave me the
idea .mp4 support is strongly resisted, though forums arent
necessarily the best guide and I havent actually had a chance to try
their latest software yet...

http://tinyurl.com/au4s5

To be fair there are still some reasons why people are sticking with
.mov or .wmv rather than going for .mp4, but devices such as ipod are
helping. Even then, people can still use .mov, but Im hoping that
there will be a wider range of alternative players that also handle
.mp4 and dont do .mov, and then the theory of why .mp4 is the best
choice (no single comapny controlling it) will become practical
reality. This paradise also requires Sony to get rid of the stupid
slight difference to the mp4 structure that it currently needs to be
compatible. And unfortunately in this context, DivX is part of the
problem, not the solution right now.

Thats the road Im on anyway, as sufferers of my regular mpeg4 related
waffle know only too well. When I no longer need to waffle in depth
about the confusing subject of codecs, then it will be a sign that
things are a bit better.

Wahey, cheers Jim. Perhaps there is more hope than I thought that DivX
will rethink their strategy after seeing the ipod & friends appear on
the scene.

Its perfectly possible I suppose to offer options in DivX to create
standard mp4 files for use with ipods etc, as well as maintaining
options to output stuff that requires divx decoder and may look better
or compress better etc.

I sincerely hope thats what happens, after all Nero have got their own
silly name for mpeg4 'Nero Digital' and a certification program with
matching encoder profiles, but their Nero Recode app can still spit
out totally compliant .mp4's for use with Ipod, and PSP compatible
ones too.

RE: [videoblogging] Re: DivX - Shameless Plug

2005-12-08 Thread Jim Vinson

Steve,

Not to butter you up or anything, but you
are very insightful. I honestly appreciate these threads.

There are published specs for avi and many
other codecs and encoding applications create avi’s. For the longterm CE
manufacturers will support this format since there are billions of legacy files
that the consumers want to play. Supporting our ‘certified’ profile
gives them a competitive advantage, therefore they put it in the box.

A catch-22 that arises is how to get
something that is a documented standard into production consumer electronics
devices. This is a tightrope walk we have been on since at least 2002 and have
leveraged as much as we can to make it happen.

In some ways we decided what CE
manufacturers would support, in other ways there were cost barriers in silicon
implementation where we helped guide the process to the best result possible.
In doing so, we have made a market of devices that conform to a standard that
can be accessed by anyone as a distribution endpoint.

From my side of the playground, the apple
mp4 support is more of a problem than a help. If anyone is going to make a
vertically integrated closed system it will be apple. I would be surprised if
apple and sony came together with a compatible format out of the kindness of
their hearts. The slight differences are not an accident. Recent content deals on
both sides drive an even deeper wedge between the psp and ipod. That is where
we are trying to be part of the solution. We do have the leverage to make CE
manufacturers implement a documented standard that is verifiably interoperable by
someone outside of the production process. Also, due to required legacy
support, even if we were evil, hand wringing, control freaks, we couldn’t
lock out the existing, non-DivX ® encoding schemes.

This isn’t the end of our work day
or month out here. We are going to keep plugging along, and hopefully with
input from people like steve we can move towards a good solution.

RE: [videoblogging] Re: DivX - Shameless Plug

2005-12-08 Thread Jim Vinson

Nero doesn’t really have a
certification program. It is ‘self certification’ where the
manufacturers determine if the device is good enough or not.

I can’t speak too much to the ipod
psp work, but we do have our brightest minds working on it. We know what the
chips are capable of. We are looking at combinations of modifying syntax and
(only when absolutely necessary) transcoding. I can say that there are people
here watching DivX files on psp’s, but they are not your average
consumers and the files are not the average divx file.

I use godaddy and haven't had any problems. It's the cheapest hosting I've

use Worpdress and it's a simple installation even if the host doesn't provide a

I just wanted to thank you everyone in this thread!!! I had not explored
the usage of Titles much but after playing with them in Adobe Premier
Pro 1.5, I'm just giddy about titles.

While I think Adobe Premier Pro 1.5 is a bit of an over kill for Vlog's
but it will do everything I need it to do - and I have it so I might as
well use it.

2005-12-08 Thread Steve Watkins
Mmmm nice quality :) I like the 960x540 version, its still way higher
res than people are used to on the net, and it works. But I am biased
as I was waffling about 960x540 a while ago. Id sort of given up on
seeing much content at those resolutions though, and started getting
used to the idea of living with lower res stuff for longer than I had
initially expected. the ipod helped, but yeah Id like to watch more
960x540 videos on my computer.

2005-12-08 Thread Don McAllister

Steve, You might want to check out my Video Podcast - www.ScreenCastsOnline.comI produce Video tutorials for free download in both 960x540 and in iPod format. 80% of the currently available screencasts are in 960 x 600 or 960 x 540.I've just started mastering in 720p (1280 x 720) and I'm making those versions available to the ScreenCastsOnline contributors, a small but very supportive group who donate $2 per month to ScreenCastsOnline. There is a freely downloadable (and streamable) 720p episode on my site or you can download it from here:http://libsyn.com/media/donmc/SCO0023_720p_Auto_Rapidweaver_Part_1.movThis is a walkthrough and introduction to RapidWeaver and runs for about 20 minutes. Not bad for a 112MB file. It was a first attempt, the second one is much better!CheersDonOn 8 Dec 2005, at 23:48, Steve Watkins wrote: Mmmm nice quality :) I like the 960x540 version, its still way higher res than people are used to on the net, and it works. [videoblogging] Video Blogging Local Non Profits

2005-12-08 Thread Jack Olmsted
I'm seeking to network with video bloggers working with their local
community organizations.

Last Saturday, I published 13 videos from a pre-Grand Opening of the
new Port Townsend Boiler Room, a relocated teen center:

Yesterday, I published a 5 minute video from the desk of Tamer

County Washington:

Today, I published a 4 minute video of Pamela Roberts, Youth

[videoblogging] Re: New poll for videoblogging

2005-12-08 Thread wtrainbow
I agree the poll is meaningless. It also depends on what you're trying to
achieve. Do you
want sohpisticated titling capabilities? Do you need use chroma keying? Do you
want real-
time rendering for transitions? I too think FCP is by far the best choice from
the different
programs i've tried. But there also is a steep learning curve if you've never
done any
editing before.

Plus it is difficult to say if one is "better" than another if you've never
used the majority of
them.

I think it would be interesting to learn what people are currently using. Also
some cameras
allow you to edit on the actual camera although I imagine it would get tedious
after awhile

2005-12-08 Thread Joan Khoo

Perhaps it would be better to rephrase the poll. I'm sure that not many
have used more than two softwares listed, myself included so therefore
there is no basis for comparison.
It's probably more accurate to poll who uses what software for video
blogging and their level of satisfaction with the software they use.

Before you go any further: make a backup copy of your current template!

Re: [videoblogging] Re: New poll for videoblogging

2005-12-08 Thread WWWhatsup

I disagree that it's meaningless - as you say, it would be
interesting to see what people are using.

I think it works fine as a survey of what people in the group use,
sophisticated or otherwise, given time to build a significant
response.

I've seen the question asked twice already, and I am sure it will
be again. It'll be nice to, rather than repeat this same back and forth,
give those inquirers an indication of the broad opinion of the group.

I'm certain there are a few more encoders that could be added. Suggestions?

Hmm, I don't think there is a provision for ratings in the yahoo group polls.

I dio see that every time I edit it, votong totals are zeroed, so nobody should
bother
to vote until the choices are set, unless they don't mind re-voting.

More along the same lines, I've thought of doing a streaming version
of DIVB-TV on Jeeper One TV (which you can find in the Winamp Media
Library) that would feature SEVERAL videos per episode. But when I
took the time to figure out how time and effort it would take to
throw those videos ALONG with the clips of me introing each video AS
WELL AS inserting my voiceover audio, I figured it would take at
least a whole day.

And that's to say NOTHING of the fact that it'd look like an episode
of "Maximum Exposure" by the time it was done anyway. Not something
I'm sure many video bloggers would want to sit through for any
lengthy period of time. :)

Cheers for now & Happy Holidays :)

The Internet has COUNTLESS channels. In fact, the number of channels

And sure it's faster than books. But who said it's prettier than radio though?

Re: [videoblogging] MP4 compatibility

Hi everyone:

Windows Media Player itself doesn't offer very good support
unofficially for MP4 (officially it doesn't even support it at all,
but if you Google it or search for it on CNET, I believe MPEGable's
MP4 Windows Media Plugin is still in circulation).

The latest Windows version of Quicktime will support it as does the
VLC Media Player (To download this player, go to http://www.videolan.org/ ).

Additionally, virtually all versions of Media Player Classic (which
you can get from http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/ ) will
also play MP4, but its stability is about the same as Windows Media Player.

But in any case, as for *software* compatibility, I don't even worry
about it. BOTH of my video blogs, Pat's Video Blog *AND* DIVB-TV are
targeted towards those with the PSP or Video iPod in hand as *that's*
where the future of multimedia is.

Sure I don't post as often (or as original) as I should, but hey...At
least I post *once in a while* :)

Hope this helps :)

Ever heard of making Quicktime the default player for MP4? Not to
sound critical, but I'm told this usually works

You can easily try making MP4 videos using H.264/x264 codecs. To
learn more, go to http://x264.nl/
