Good. Figured it would. :D

> that is a redirect from the image is a very very very slow load/download.

That's because the video is over 300 MB in size and is over 45 minutes
in length. As such, it would be best to DOWNLOAD that to your
computer or portable device.

> You are getting there.

The other episodes (Except Episode 07 Part Two, which I'll get to work
on as soon as I finish updating the other episodes) are NOWHERE NEARLY
as big or as long. But still nevertheless, I'll post a text link to
the page with the Flash version as I update each post on Blogger in
real time.

I'd much rather deal with Quicktime MP4s (Even though they can be a
bear to download if the episode is long) because MP4 videos will work
on most portable devices except cell phones (And even that depends on
the make & model you get/have anyway) whereas Flash is more standard
with some phones (Again depending on the make & model you get/have)
and cross-platform PCs.

But if the majority of my subscribers want the Flash version, then
that's what they shall receive. Same with the Quicktime version now
currently featured :D I don't want to have people manually
downloading Flash versions if they don't have or want to if at all
possible as

A). Flash can streamed from a web page A LOT easier than Quicktime can.
B). Forcing people to manually download Flash would just simply drive
people away.

But again, if the majority of my subscribers truly WANT to download
the Flash version, then that's what shall be featured. :D I should
run another poll on this.

That all said, YOU HAVE BEEN HEARD & your points are all well taken
and appreciated. :D I'm just trying to keep an open mind when it
comes to preferred & featured format.

Re: [videoblogging] Re: First Outdoor Video Just Posted

2007-10-31 Thread Rupert
Well, at least we can see it eventually now if we're patient.

But Pat, you still need to make it a lot easier!

As bcas said, the thumbnail links to an mp4 file which doesn't Fast
Start (streaming not enabled when you compressed it). So we have to
wait an indeterminate amount of time for it to load. No one will.

The Flash streaming link takes you to Blip, which is another site &
requires loading time, and doesn't allow people to comment on your blog.

Use Blip's player to allow people to just click and play the video
right there in the post.

If you go to your Blip dashboard, there's a Share link for each
video. Click it. It will give you "Copy & Paste" code for you to
copy & paste into your post. That way, when somebody clicks your
thumbnail, it will just *play*, right there and then.

Hope this helps.

Okay everyoneLet's try this again (This time with the video on
BlipTV). Once again, here's the URL

http://asmyworldturnstv.blogspot.com/2007/09/episode-07-part-01-first-

I've even got a text link to the episode page on BlipTV, which
defaults to the Flash version in case the Quicktime version becomes a
problem.

I'll change over the rest of the episodes and the RSS Feed (Thank
goodness for FeedBurner as I dunno where I'd be without 'em) later on
today after I've taken my morning shower (Yeah I'm a late riser, what
can I say? :D).

In any case - HOPEFULLY I've put this issue to rest now. :D

Lemme know what "ya'll" think now, ya hear... :D *LOL!*

that is a redirect from the image is a very very very slow load/download.

If you are worried that your video wont get picked up by the video
aggregators, and you are using blogger, just put the video link in the
title. Not make the title the video, but in the title link section of your
blogpost form.

Does that make sense?

I'm with the other saying that having it automatically download without
knowing is kinda disconcerting; especially with such a large file.

But I enjoyed the video nonetheless!

Re: [videoblogging] Re: First Outdoor Video Just Posted

2007-10-30 Thread Rupert
What David said.
I watch a lot of vlogs, and I've never come across one that I've had
to right click on and download.
And there are no instructions on your page for us to do that.
I don't know if you watch other vlogs and places that show online
video, but they pretty much all (I can't think of one that doesn't)
involve a thumbnail that you click on to play, either directly in the
browser or as a pop-up. MP4, MOV, WMV, FLV, whatever.
You can make the thumbnail a Flash file and you have an MP4 linked as
an enclosure for podcasting. It won't get confused. So you can
still put a link to your MP4 file, and have a fast loading flash
player that's compatible across systems.
I strongly recommend that you do that.
Blip.tv allow you to upload your MP4, they'll automatically convert
it to flash and give you a player that you can use AND free hosting
for your mp4 for podcasting.
If you want, you can also upload it to Podomatic, but that seems like
overkill unless there are other benefits to Podomatic that I don't
know about.
I can't urge you strongly enough to follow this advice. People just
won't be able to view your videos otherwise.

2007-10-30 Thread Steve Watkins
When you say the URL, do you mean the url connected to the pictures of the
videos on
your blogspot site?

Because if so, right clicking makes no difference, its not an issue of what
people are doing
with the url, its that those URLs are requiring us to login to podomatic.

I think you may be posting URLs that only work for the person with the
podomatic
account, ie you. The links work for you because you are already a member of
that site. I
imagine the way you are getting the URLs from podomatic is wrong, and there are
different ones that are meant to be posted to your blog.

[videoblogging] Re: First Outdoor Video Just Posted

2007-10-30 Thread bordercollieaustralianshepherd
Hi Pat

You might want to provide both URL options (a RSS and a stream).
Nothing against you, I avoid downloading what I cannot (first) see.

I searched Pod O for your show and this
result returns page with a player for each episode.

I watched two episodes #8 and #7.

Episode confusion or time travel?

You are right about the video quality, very impressive for a 100
bucks. Outweighs the minor audio problems (and inside there were none
except for the echo). One tip ... take a bathroom break before you
start rolling (pun intended).

I am guilty of not knowing much more about you. I had, prior to today,
watched a couple of your shows and met you in a few of the
Flashmeetings ... I assumed (on occasion) that you drank which is not
the kind of respect (damn I wish I could still pound and carry on a
conversation) you deserve.

None of my BUSINESS but I think you would make a great host/instructor
to help others with disabilities master video and blogging. Maybe that
is what you do already and I need to take the time to watch more of
your work.

I have to ask ... people are people ... when you were rolling around
talking to what appeared to be "to yourself" did you get more "looks"
than normally?

Keep your chin up ... Be safe out on the road ... nothing but
admiration from me.

Dave
