question about removing books from itunes quickly
Hi list, I am wondering if anyone might know of a way to remove a hole collection of books from itunes quickly. The problem I have, is that I use iBooks for reading books on the iPhone, where I have all of my books nicely sorted into collections. But, in itunes when I go to where my books are listed, they are not displayed in collections at all, they are just displayed in what seems to me to be a haphazard order, with all my collections mixed up. I want to remove a collection of about 156 books from iBooks, in order to replace it with versions that are much smaller than the pdf files. But in itunes, the 156 books I want to remove are scattered in amongst the books I don't want to remove, meaning that if I have to go and manually delete each book individually from itunes it will be a very long very slow process. If I just remove the collection from iBooks, I think itunes will simply sync the books back on to the phone again when I sync next time. Does anyone have any idea of a solution? I wish it was possible to just copy books normally into iBooks, its such a pain having to use itunes to manage them. Re: Notes and cloud
Dear John André, and other listers, I combined John André's tips and my use of the Notes app into a 15 minute podcast. It lives at applevis.com. if your interested the link is below. The podcast is a walk through of the native Notes app, shows how to set up preferences in mail to use iCloud, and demonstrates moving text from the mac to the iPhone and moving it to another app. I also use selecting of text and pasting so if you have not tried that yet on the iPhone this might also be a helpful part of the podcast. eric Caron http://www.applevis.com/podcasts/episodes/notes-quick-and-easy-note-taking-and-sharing-using-native-ios-app On May 1, 2012, at 5:09 PM, John André Netland wrote: Eric, First, go to the Mail preferences, under the Compose settings, and set new Notes to be created in iCloud. I am not using iCloud backup but didn't think this was the problem as iCloud is working one direction from the phone to computer. I just need the other direction to work. is light detector app broken?
Hi list, just wondering, is the light detector app broken? The app is running in task switcher, but tapping on it from there doesn't open it either. I have tried deleting the app several times from the phone and resyncing it back to the phone, but this hasn't helped. I am running ios 5.1. Can other 5.1 users please take a look and advise if it might just be a problem with me, or if they also have the same issue. question about giving feedback on ILike2Read
Hi list, does anyone know the correct contact details for getting in touch with the author of the ILike2Read app? as I just bought it, and have found a limitation which I think really needs addressing if you plan to use it as a serious book reading app. It looks like that when you copy books over into the documents folder, you can't copy over separate folders containing books and then access them from within the app. The app is only capable of accessing files stored in the documents folder, meaning you can't easily organise your collection into categories or subjects, you are forced to have your books in one place in the documents folder not in sub folders. What I would like would be for the app to have the ability to access sub folders under the documents folder, and for you to be able to access them from the documents list in the app, so it would show you a list of your folders, which you could tap, and then be shown the files in those folders. I guess similar to collections in iBooks, accept iBooks doesn't really store your books in folders you can access easily outside the app. Having said that, I am glad to see ILike2Read doesn't use a fancy database to store its content like iBooks, that will make managing files in the app so much easier. I did go to the support link in the app entry on the app store, but I was taken to a page I think in italian, I found the contact link, but it has several e mail addresses and phone numbers and I have no idea which one to use. Re: question about giving feedback on ILike2Read
Hi. Another limitation with the app is that you can't do a text search. Say you want to search a book chapter by chapter. What every other text reading program does whether on a PC or Mac, is let you type in a string of text such as chapter and then you can search for next or previous instances of that string of text. I too would like some contact info for the developer. Thanks for any assistance. Re: New Feature In Emailganizer
hello all, can emailganizer manage the .zip attachments? can, for example, ecport these types of attachments? thank you in advance. - Original Message - From: crashwrite To: viphone@googlegroups.com Sent: Tuesday, May 01, 2012 4:05 PM Subject: Re: New Feature In Emailganizer Hi All, I am the developer of the Emailganizer app. Thanks very much for your use and kind words about the app. Unfortunately, the latest update breaks critical voice over functionality on the Mail viewing screen. Virtually all of the buttons on that screen are no longer labelled :( As such, I am advising people that use voice over to NOT update to or download this latest version of the app. I hope to submit a fix by the end of the day, but it will likely take a week for that to become available on the App Store. *** With respect to the free app, that has been removed from the store due to unrelated issues. It is unclear when or if the free app will become available again. *** With respect to the Speak Folder functionality, this is unrelated to voice over. It is available in the most recent versions of the pro app. It can be invoked by tapping the top left button while viewing and Inbox and then tapping 'Speak Folder'. Then there is a privacy warning. Once that is confirmed, your entire Inbox will be 'Spoken'. With respect to POP3, David correctly states that the app does not support POP accounts. The reason for this limitation is that eMailGanizer needs to access your email folders in order to be most useful. With IMAP, these folders are stored in your email account in the cloud. That makes them accessible to all of your devices and all of your computers. Without IMAP (or another suitably advanced protocol) your email folders can only be stored on a single device. So, if you file a POP3 email into a folder on your computer, there is no way to access it on your phone (and vice versa). -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Hi Eric, I know that, as I have contacted several authors in the past. However, when you try to use the support link in the app description you are taken to this itallian page where all the contact details are also in itallian, and several different people are listed. Also, the author isn't listed as a person for this app, but as some sort of institution. Digit-Eyes update in the App Store
Hi listers, I'm a recent new user of Digit-Eyes. I noticed last night that there was a update in the app Store. I tried it out this morning and was very pleased with the results. I can now leave the app and return to it as often as needed and each time the scan button is working correctly and ready to go. In the earlier release I had to often quit the app in the App Switcher to get the scan button to work again. This app is rapidly becoming one of my most used appps. I'm very impressed with the quick response to technical and individual needs. This is the app that among other things lets you scan bar codes to hear what a product is, and also print your own labels to mark items with recorded or text information. I noticed there is a new podcast about Digit-Eyes at Applevis.com. I would recommend updating this App. eRic Caron -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Re: is light detector app broken?
You might want to check for updates to the app in the apps store. It works fine here on my iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1. If it is just me I will delete the app completely from itunes and redownload it. Many thanks, Alex. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. SKYPE PROBLEM
Hi all, I'm using the recent upgraded version of Skype and, for the most part, it's fine. However, I notice that a few VI folk are having problems locating the End button on a call and sometimes it just doesn't seem to be visible. In addition and perhaps more annoying for me, I can no longer get the caller through the speaker and have to keep the phone to my ear for the duration. Are there any work arounds for these things that I haven't yet discovered, please, or do we have to live this way now? We particularly liked having friends on speaker phone and it worked well so that more than one of us at home could join in the conversation so I hope there is something I can do. -- Carol P -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Re: Digit-Eyes update in the App Store
I have to say that I am very impressed with DigitEyes now. I just installed the update and I certainly was one who had issues with some of the earlier versions. I can now with confidence recommend this app. In fact I find it nearly as fast as Red Laser and the information returned is great. THe only thing I would add is the ability to toggle the flash which does help when lighting conditions are not optimal. Re: question about giving feedback on ILike2Read
Hi, I used the address i...@mdvbologna.it and I mentioned the suggestion for folder support so you can better categorize files. My example is that I import text files via a zip file which I ipen from Filer. This works fine unless the zip file contains subfolders. Since iLikeToRead doesn't support foldered structures, the files don't get imported. I also suggested adding a password feature to open the app in case you store sensitive files such as personal things, like passwords and the like. -- Raul A.
