Re: Relabeling buttons no longer working
Hi Chuck, I don't know if this matters, but I re-labeled a button that wasn't taking and instead of choosing the Save Button, I chose Done and it took. I doubt that's the reason, but what the heck, give it a shot. It was on the Bank of America site, I couldn't get transfer to take, and now it's labeled even after the most recent update. Go figure. twitteriffic and bluetooth keyboards
Hi everyone. I'm trying to use my amazon bluetooth keyboard with twitteriffic. When I'm in the time line and I post a reply it takes me to the top of the timeline after replying. is there a keystroke I type to get back to my original tweet? Is there a list of keyboard shortcuts to use with twitteriffic? I also want to know when going in to the program how I can get back to my original tweet after composing a new one and how I can set my tweets to refresh automatically? Thanks. iTunes Gift cardand syncing
Two questions 1. Just in case the question did not get through for some odd reason. If I had an iTunes gift card under one password and then changed my Apple password, does the money remain on my card? Would it show up again once I buy something with the new password and my normal Apple ID? The amount is no longer showing in featured in the app store. Is there another place to see the amount left? 2. When you sync in iTunes, do you have to tell iTunes exactly what to sync or does it sync everything on your computer? Sieghard has very kindly offered to be an iTunes teacher, but I am curious why when my sister-in-law went into iTunes and clicked on my phone that all my contacts from the phone came back. On that computer I had no contacts, but iTunes seemed to bring back only what had been on my phone! If you can tell iTunes what to sync that is very nice. I have things I don't want on my phone but only on my computer, and I thought everything would be transferred. I have never synced any device at all so all new to me. 3. New HSBC APP
Dear Listers. I am cross posting to both of the lists just in case any of you are using the following app on your I phone or I pad. This app for the time being is being trialed in the US. I will give you the background of the following app as I was told today by an HSBC representitive. Those of you in the UK know that at present there has been a campaign for Talking Cash machines which are available in some branches of other banks and as far as I know is available in the USA. So, however, I happened to be talking to a representitive of HSBC Bank where I bank. He told me that at the moment, rather than concentrating on making these cash machines accessible for it's disabled visually impaired customers, they are trialing anew app designed for the I phone and I pad and it's being trialed in the US due to their customer base being low. So am wondering if any one is trialing this app especially for Voice Over in the US? I am asking this because their last application called Fast Balance was not accessible with Voice Over and I hope their new application will not suffer the same fate. I would appreciate any information from anyone to tell me that this app is being trialed and proving successful. Thank you in advance. RE: keyboard shortcuts for twitteriffic
Hi Rebecca, I'm not aware of any keyboard shortcuts in Twitterific for iOS. The fact that the reference was to pull-down menus suggests that that section relates to other platforms. The closest thing to keyboard shortcuts I've found would be the shortcut menus in Tweetlist, which you get when double tapping and holding a tweet, or triple tapping a tweet or the tab you've selected. It's hard to beat Tweetlist in terms of ease of use and efficiency because of this. One thing that I wish Twitterific would address is the redundant verbiage you get when reading mentions, where it says conversation with X. Get a lot of mentions in a day and this redundant speech really starts to add up. They've clearly put a lot of work into the client though, and one advantage of it is you can just double tap on a tweet to get a shortcut menu, which makes it very good for dealing with tweets from a Braille display. Also I don't think Twitterific is pushing yet, unless I've missed that in V5. Extreme iTunes Frustration: Since Before iTunes 11
Hello all. I am really steamed with iTunes, like never before. Before 11 came out, as I have done since the beginning of time with iTunes and the iPhone (from my perspective, that is) I manually managed my material, and checked and unchecked for syncing at will. It worked fine, once I got the hang of it. Before 11 came out, I made some changes to my library, and synced. Nothing changed. I tried again. Nothing. After iTunes 11, I tried again, but no luck. I am at my wit's end. I have no idea how to remedy this. Not a single change is taking. In addition, I downloaded two songs from the iTunes store to my phone yesterday afternoon, and when I attempt to play them, the next song in the alphabetical list of songs, or the next song by the same artist, depending on whether I have songs or artists checked, plays. They are listed, but they are not playing. I tried syncing -- same result. Christine -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. An ITunes question.
Hello! Now that I have an IPhone that will be up and running within the next couple of days I figure it is time to get to know ITunes a little better. I'm using Jaws-11 with ITunes 11, and when I sign into the ITunes store, I'm told that my Apple ID is not linked to the ITunes store. I'm given the option to hit the review button, and when I do so, I get a screen that Jaws is not reading. Is there anything I can do on my PC to make jaws read this screen or should I sit tight and do everything on my phone once it is up and running? Hi, I just updated to a newer version of the Dish remote app. However, the app has a different user interface, and some things that worked before, aren't now. Its a little more difficult to use now. Christine -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. iTunes 10 Podcasts from Jonathan Mosen, was: An ITunes question.
Hi Liz, You may have to authorize your computer and this can be done in the store menu, Alt+S will get you there, then arrow down to the bottom of that menu. You also may want to start with Jonathan Mosen's FS Casts on iTunes. The demo is with Jaws 12 and iTunes 10, but even though things have changed in iTunes 11, you would still get a lot out of these especially if you enable the Side Bar in the View menu (Alt+V) or with the Control+s shortcut. This makes iTunes 11 look more like iTunes 10 and many of the basic principals still apply. Re: Rolling back in an app
If you sync your apps with iTunes on your PC or MAC, you may be able to roll back provided you still have the older .ipa file or can restore it. It may, for example, be accessible through Windows' previous versions feature. The workaround involves deleting the newer app from your iPhone and iTunes library, adding the older .ipa file back to your library, then doing a sync. In Windows, the apps should be stored wherever your iTunes library is stored, in a folder called Mobile Applications. RE: Rolling back in an app
Hi Shane, Only way to do this is if you sync your iPhone with iTunes, then if you update an app on your iPhone and want to go back, delete the app from your iPhone and resync with iTunes. Of course this only works if you haven't also updated your apps in iTunes already. I deliberately do this with apps like Skype which in the past was accessible, then it had areas which were not accessible and it took many versions until it was fully accessible again. Now whenever there is a Skype update I install it on my phone and test it and only once I know it works and nothing is broken I also update it in my iTunes. You can even go into your iTunes Media folder and the Mobile Applications subfolder, find a particular app and just make a copy, e.g. in Windows do a Control+c and then a Control+V. In the case of Skype 3.8.1 just to use this as an example this would mean you still have the Skype 3.8.1 file and then right below it you would have Skype 3.8.1 - Copy. This way if you accidently update and something happens you can just delete the app, rename the copied app by taking away the - copy part and resync to get back an older version. A weather app for Canadians, was: Another Weather App Question.
Hi Jim, I am in British Columbia and I find the native weather app that comes with the iPhone is not very good. I use an app called Degrees it is a Canadian weather app and uses the same information you get on the Environment Canada weather forecast website. It lists current conditions including temperature, whether it's cloudy/sunny/overcast etc., humidity, wind, pressure, windchill/humadex, air quality (where supported) and then it gives you the 7-day forecast. You can even set it so the current temperature is displayed on the badge icon, however due to limitations imposed by Apple it would be spoken like this Degrees, 5 new items. This would be if the temperature is either +5 Celsius or minus 5 Celsius. The developers told me that they can't display the minus sign because Apple doesn't allow it, but I still find it useful since I typically know if it's plus or minus outside, only time when it is ambiguous is if it's just 1 or 2 or 3 degrees plus or minus. If you enable this in the app settings and it's exactly 0 degrees it would just say Degrees with nothing else. You can add cities and once you added them you can easily choose which forecast you want to see, once the app opens you have a list of the cities/towns you added and the app is, of course, very Voiceover friendly since I am completely blind as well and use Voiceover exclusively. RE: New HSBC APP
Hi Kawal, Does this mean the app talks to the bank machine and you use it to make your selections? I am not sure about the US, but here in Canada just about all bank machines have speech, all you do is plug in a headset and that triggers the accessibility feature, the bank machine starts talking and tells you what to do. I am asking this because their last application called Fast Balance was not accessible with Voice Over and I hope their new application will not suffer the same fate. I would appreciate any information from anyone to tell me that this app is being trialed and proving successful. Thank you in advance. RE: iTunes Gift cardand syncing
Hi Reggie, Until I can help you more with iTunes, here the short answers: As Rob already pointed out, changing your Apple Id password makes no difference on any balances. Anything you buy or any balance you have is tied to your Apple Id and changing your password of course has to be possible in case your account is ever compromised. It's like the key to your house, you may have to get a new lock or a new key, but that doesn't change the address of your house or the fact that you have $100 hidden under your mattress. What iTunes syncs can definitely be modified. You can tell it to sync all your music or selected music, same for books/audio books, movies, Podcasts etc. You can also tell it to sync Contacts with Outlook but not email and Notes etc. Regards, Sieghard From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Regina Alvarado Sent: Saturday, December 08, 2012 6:29 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: iTunes Gift cardand syncing Two questions 1. 3. RE: Gift certificate/iTunes
Hi Reggie, Open the App Store, then double tap the Featured tab at the bottom left of the screen. Once it's selected and loaded, touch the bottom left again and find the Featured tab, Voiceover should say Selected, Featured Tab, 1 of 5. Now swipe to the left once, Voiceover will say iTunes Store Terms and Conditions Swipe left one more time and you should hear Voiceover say Apple Id, YourEmail at YourProvider.com, 30 Dollar credit button YourEmail at YourProvider.com of course would be whatever your Apple Id email is and I just used $30 as an example. I would add my vote for degrees app as I have been using it for over a year and it is fabulous. So am wondering if any one is trialing this app especially for Voice Over in the US? I am asking this because their last application called Fast Balance was not accessible with Voice Over and I hope their new application will not suffer the same fate. Re: Rolling back in an app
So Sieghard, you're saying I must delete the new version of the app from my phone, then plug it up to the pc, open up iTunes, and cync apps, and then I can find the older version of the app to put back on the phone? Sent from my iPhone On Dec 8, 2012, at 2:43 PM, Sieghard Weitzel siegh...@live.ca wrote: Hi Shane, Only way to do this is if you sync your iPhone with iTunes, then if you update an app on your iPhone and want to go back, delete the app from your iPhone and resync with iTunes. Re: iTunes Library location?
You can set the music location in preferences. In iTunes, use command comma (,) to open preferences. Re: Rolling back in an app
This only works if you still have the older version of the app in your iTunes. Also, when you open iTunes, you will need to go to the apps tab under iTunes and put a check at the particular app to reinstall the older version to your iPhone. When you delete the app from your iOS device, it is automatically unchecked in the sync apps tab in iTunes. And here is one of the problems with the digital copyright schemes. You cannot lend books. The only current exception I know of is libraries using overdrive. OverDrive allows libraries to lend out the exact number of books they have purchased. Whilst the book is in a patron's account, it cannot be lent to another patron. After the lending period. The patron's account automatically ceases allowing the borrower access to the book and someone else can then borrow / access it.
