Thank for so much for this infomation. This could be handy, although it's a pity I cant do this with out assistance as i don't always have any around. I assume you would need some one with you or can i do it with a person online who had the form. What about placing the signature anywhere on the form, and the person rcving the form moving it to where it has to go? Just looking for possible work arounds for this. RE: labeling boxes for moving
Hi Mickey, Is there a Slate and Stylus app? OK, just joking, but had somebody mentioned that Cara would have probably put them on moderation until the release of the iPhone 36S after her reminder that this was straying off topic *smile*. Anyhow, yes, you could buy labels from Digit-Eyes, but they also have labels on their site which you can print yourself and I would probably give that a try first. Sorry, but I still have buying washable labels on my list of things to do, but if you run into problems just send them a message, Nancy is very good at getting back to people to help out. RE: question about iPhone batteries and cases.
Hi Mich, There are 2 types of external batteries: battery cases and actual batteries which means self-contained batteries in their own enclosure. Battery cases are iPhone cases where the battery is built into the back of the case. It simply means the back of the case is thicker and usually these cases connect to, in your case, the 30-pin adapter of your iPhone. You simply charge the phone by charging the case and you typically have to take the phone out of the case if you want to connect it to the computer. True external batteries on the other hand are just separate units and for the most part they charge your phone with the normal cable that comes with your phone and which you plug into the USB port on the external battery instead of your computer or wall adapter. One battery I know of for sure has a 30-pin connector built right onto the battery itself along with a micro USB and a Blackberry connector is the MyCharge Peak 6,000 which I own. It also has a USB port so you could use the cable that came with your phone or you could plug it straight into the 30-pin connector which is on a super short, about 1 inch long cable. The MyCharge Peak 6,000 is the model which has speech built in, it tells you when it's done charging, when you plug in a device and you can push a button on the battery and it tells you how full the battery is. I bought it at Future Shop last November for $99, so you could probably order it on www.FutureShop.ca and it should be free shipping since it's over $25. I personally prefer external batteries over battery cases. First of all, battery cases usually have at most enough juice to charge your iPhone once, i.e. maybe 1,400 MA, many have only 1,000 or 1,100 which won't even charge your phone to 100% if it's fairly empty. The MyCharge Peak 6,000 is a 6,000 MA battery and you get 3 or 4 charges out of it. You can check it out in detail at http://www.MyCharge.com. The disadvantage is the bulk of a battery such as the Peak 6,000. As a general rule, the larger the capacity the larger is the battery. The MyCharge Peak 6,000 is not a lot larger than the iPhone, but it is thicker and it's probably not a battery you want to carry around unless you have a small backpack with you or at least are wearing a jacket with larger pockets. Generally, moving the signature would result in the signature reporting as invalid. Part of what is certified is that the document has not been altered after signing. Re: question about iPhone batteries and cases.
Hi Sieghard. Mycharge is also on their way with a model with a built in cable for IPhone 5, but unfortunately they will not sell for Denmark. I would love to have a battery with built in cables for micro USB and connecter for IPhone 5. I have looked in apple store, to find another backup battery, but there was nothing real interesting there. Cheers Annie. Apologies for my off topic message to the list
Hi all, I apologize for sending my question about Windows Phone notification settings to this list. I completely understand that this list is strictly dedicated to the iOS platform. Staying on topic for iOs, you cannot have Viber or other Voip apps to ring when the app is closed in the app switcher. I don't know if this is an Apple restriction. Viber however does notify you of missed calls via a push notification. On 04/07/2013 19:13, Salman Haider wrote: Hi all, How does one change notification settings for apps like Viber and Whatsapp on Nokia Lumia 710 (Windows Phone)? For instance, when a call is received on Viber, the phone does not ring. There is only a single notification sound and the phone only starts ringing when you open Viber. This is a nuisance since many times, you are away from your phone and you may not hear the single notification sound. So, how does one change the setting so that the phone rings continuously when there is an incoming call on Viber, just like it happens on other platform devices like iOS and Android? Also, is there something like a notification settings menu or something of that sort for adjusting notification settings for individual apps on Lumia 710 (Windows 7.5)? Re: Bluetooth Headset Recommendation
Hi all, here's what I have, but note that this may not fit Mike's suggested requirements. Plantronics M50. This is a single ear- headset and it allows Voice over to work when you are on and off a call. It's very light and comfortable and I could wear this all day with no ear fatigue. The battery life is excellent, but the call quality in my opinion leaves much to be desired. However let me state that as yet, I haven't come across a Bluetooth headset which satisfies me in the phone call quality department. The thing which I don't like about this one is the volume can be a bit low if you are in a noisy environment. You have to sometimes jack your phone up to 100% as well as the headset. When you do this, the battery on both devices will drain more just so you know. Also, the call/answer button is located right on the main part of the headset body, on the outside of your ear. So, if you want to make an adjustment while on a call, you might accidentally press the button and hang up on the person. I mainly like this headset for listening to audio such as Voice Over telling me which street I'm on using Ariadne, or Blind Square's voice telling me information I need. I listen to audio books as well while on the bus. I don't wear a headset at all when crossing streets. Sometimes the voice call quality is so bad that I simply turn it off, and put the phone to my other ear when talking. From what I can tell, this one only comes in black. Samsung HM1700. Now this one is almost the same as the M50 I just described above, but with the following differences. It comes with a standard round plug for you ear, which fits me the best. If I use one of the 3 included replacements, then it doesn't fit me as well and I'm constantly adjusting it. Somehow the M50 has this right for my ear, but if your ear is shaped just differently enough, the M50 might not fit right or might cause fatigue, with this 1700 I have the choice of more than one ear plug, and so this might be good for people with this kind of concern. Now, again, if I use the default round one which doesn't stick out at all, it fits in my specific ear just fine with no fatigue, but I do have to adjust it more than the M50. What I like about this one more than the M50 is that the volume is louder. I don't have to have my phone on max volume in order to hear things at a comfortable level. Also, the call/answer button is located on the top edge, not the main body, of course, depending on which ear you put this in, it might be the bottom edge. In any case, if I'm on a phone call and need to adjust the things, chances that I will accidentally hang up on my call are less than with the M50 I think. The body of this one is slightly bigger than the M50, so it will be more noticeable, but that is ok with me. The call quality is sometimes good, sometimes not so good, but the same is true for the M50 I think. The Samsung HM1700 comes in different colors if you care about such things. Grey, red, blue, ETC. I got the Blue one because it matches my mood and the color and theme of my phone. Both of the headsets I mentioned above will charge with a micro usb plug. So, it's pretty standard here. Also, both have excellent talk time, and both are small and will easily fit in a small carrying pouch or pocket. Both can be warn on either ear, and both are usually under 30 dollars on Amazon. Below are links to each headset below as well as a link to an excellent carrying pouch. Recognizer versus Tap Tap See, was: Are YOU Using the LookTel Recognizer?
I agree with what has been said so far. When the app first came out it sounded quite promising. Now with apps like Tap Tap See and Talking Goggles (provided they can make it work again) identifying many items is easier and more efficient because you don't have to take a reference picture first and identify it with a voice recording. I also found that LookTel Recognizer did have problems distinguishing between items that have only a few distinguishing characteristics. Here is what is said in the app description: LookTel Recognizer allows those persons having visual impairments or blindness to identify cans, packages, ID or credit cards, DVDs, and similar items. For cans and packages Tap Tap See works extremely well. I am hesitant to try it on things like credit cards since I believe Tap Tap See may use crowd sourcing and I'm not so sure I want to risk somebody possibly being able to read my credit card number. I think it would be cool if Recognizer combined what it does now with the way Tap Tap See works so that you can identify most items via a data connection and without having to take pictures of everything. Then if something isn't identified one could try the current method Recognizer employs and take a picture with description. Of course maybe the developers of Tap Tap See could be made aware of this since they could add that kind of functionality to their app as well. Re: Deleting text messages and contacts
Locate the contact you want to delete and look for the edit button. It's in the top right-hand corner. Now go all the way down to the bottom of the page and there will be a delete contact button. Re: Bluetooth speaker
I'm a little bit crazy over the hdmx jam speakers. The classic model, which is what I own 2 of, can usually be found for around $35. Up front, I have to say, I like this speaker so much because it is darn adorable. Lol! That aside, it works brilliantly! If you are strictly using it for bluetooth, there might be better options out there. I believe it only gets 4 hours of battery life using bluetooth. I haven't tested this much. I primarily use it via a 3.5mm cable. It is suppose to get 12 hours of battery life this way, but I swear it goes way beyond that mark. I use it with my touch, iPhone, shuffle, and I have a book sense player. It works great for all of them. I love the packaging of this product. It looks like a little jam jar; perfect for travel. The base of the unit is rubbery, so it stays in put nicely. There is a switch on the bottom for on/off. Around the lower rim of the unit, there is mini USB port for charging, 3.5MM port, volume down, pause/play, volume up. Hope that was helpful! Traci PS. I have the strawberry which is red and the apricot which is sort of a gold. On Jul 6, 2013, at 8:59 AM, Donna merma...@bellsouth.net wrote: Hi I'm looking to purchase a bluetooth speaker. Re: iTunes and Most Compatible Screen Reader
I understand what your saying. Apple must have an agreement with GW Micro and Window Eyes. About a year or so the Jaws users were complaining that they couldn't read the help files in iTunes. I went and looked at them and they read perfectly fine so I didn't understand why these other people couldn't read them. Then somebody asked what screen reader I was using. I said window eyes why? They didn't believe me when I said that I didn't have any trouble reading it so they demanded proof. Well you know how some of those people are on the list. So I did a copy and paste into a message and sent it to them on list. I will tell you that I've been a window eyes user all my computing life. I won't tell you jaws is second class in my opinion because I've never really used jaws so I have nothing to make a comparison with. I'm sure between the two screen readers they probably have most of the market between them and if one were clearly better then the other then people would be switching. Screen readers aren't cheap. I paid 12 hundred for window eyes 7.5 and 3 SMAs. They are already up to 8.2.0 and I'm minus 1 SMA. I do know that windoweyes lets you choose between a jaws layout or a windoweyes layout. I have no clue if jaws has both or not. Somewhere around here I have one of the free screen readers that will work on a thumb drive. I don't use it because it's laid out differently. Somebody told me it's more of a jaws layout. Be that as it may, other then a play thing, I've never seen any reason to change. I believe most people stick with what they started out with. A friend gave me a copy of window eyes and I suppose had it been jaws, I'd be a jaws user but I personally have nothing against jaws because I just started out with window eyes. And I wouldn't really be interested in a list wide discussion of the various screen readers out there either so thanks so much for writing privately. I really appreciate that. - Original Message - From: Sieghard Weitzel To: viphone@googlegroups.com Sent: Friday, July 05, 2013 9:26 AM Subject: RE: iTunes and Most Compatible Screen Reader Hi Alan, I am writing to you directly since while using a screenreader with iTunes is on topic for the list, I didn't want to start a message war about the merits of Jaws versus other screenreaders. The fact is that I have never used another screenreader except just a little bit of System Access to Go when I am doing something simple on a computer which doesn't have a screenreader installed. If buying Jaws and spending $200 every 2 years for the SMA which allows you to always download the latest version is not an issue for you, then I would say that it is still your best and most advanced option unless you want to switch to a Mac in which case you get Voiceover included. I love my iPhone, but when it comes to computers I am a Windows and Jaws person and probably always will be . Jaws is extremely advanced and while it has its issues, so does everything else. If you only need very basic access for email, the internet and iTunes then maybe NVDA or System Access will even do the trick for you and they are either free or relatively inexpensive. In my opinion they are free for a reason and I just think that something that is free most likely is not quite as good as something that costs money which means paid experts are at work to make it better all the time. That is also the reason why I don't have a problem paying Freedom Scientific my $200 or $250 every 2 years to renew my SMA which then gives me access to the next 2 major versions of Jaws. I need this for work and to be efficient and I don't expect Freedom Scientific to add features and improve Jaws for free, no business can work for free and pay their employees to do good work. Yes, Jaws is rather expensive, but the argument that wit Apple you don't have to pay for a screenreader is only somewhat true. Yes, you don't pay more as a blind person to buy the computer, but any Apple user pays more for the computer than you would for a Windows computer. The difference may not be quite as bit any more, but it still exists and if you pay $500 or $600 more for the hardware then this already covers half or more than half of what Jaws costs. Anyhow, that is my 2 Cents worth and as I said, had I put this on the list I would probably have started a huge discussion on how unfair it is that Freedom Scientific dares to charge all these poor blind people to get the latest version of their software and so on. Oh, and by the way, with the exception of a few little things Jaws works very nicely with iTunes and in my book iTunes 11 is absolutely fully accessible with Jaws 14. Things like redeeming a gift card in iTunes are a bit challenging, you may have to turn off the virtual cursor, but since it's so easy to do on the iPhone, I just don't bother doing it on the

I use pop and there are some messages which require more then just a few lines. In those cases I would rather do it on my computer then on the touch screen of my iPhone. That having been said, I bought myself an Amazon Basics Bluetooth Keyboard so that I could take it with me rather then a computer when we're traveling in the motor home. I can type longer messages with the keyboard that's true however, I still would rather use my computer then my iPhone. This way you'll be able to access your messages from both your PC and your iPhone. Also, if you delete a message in one place or move it to a folder this will also be synced with the server, so you'll see the same change with each of your clients. If you're using POP then you probably want the iPhone configured to leave the messages on the server and configure your PC to download the messages from the server and then delete them from the server. You can also have a message left on the server unless you delete it or move it to a local folder. You'll just need to think a bit about how you want to handle your email and where you want your email stored permanently. BTW, I don't think consolidating unrelated questions into a single email is a good idea. I'd rather see two or three different messages, each on their own topic. This way you can use a better subject line, getting more people to notice it, and the discussions will be easier to find later with searches. RE: Bluetooth speaker
Donna, I like the JBL Flip Wireless Bluetooth Speaker which I bought at Amazon and they currently sell for $98.99 with free shipping. The speaker is about the size of a soda can but not quite as long and a bit thinner. I like it because the sound is excellent and the bluetooth connects easily and works well. I can't comment on how it compares to other bluetooth speakers because this is the only one that I have. It should work with both Apple and Android devices provided they have bluetooth capability. This speaker only charges via an AC wall outlet and not a USB port on your computer as many others do. The AC adapter wall block is pretty big if that's an issue but you can listen through the speaker while it is charging. The manufacturer reported life of a charge cycle is 5 hours. I haven't really tested the actual charge life. This speaker comes with a nice neoprene case for travel. It also has a 3.5mm input port for connecting another player such as a Victor Reader Stream provided you have an audio patch cable. Here's a link to it at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/JBL-Wireless-Bluetooth-Speaker-Black/dp/B009AXVM6E/ref =sr_sp-atf_title_1_1?s=electronicsie=UTF8qid=1373133715sr=1-1keywords=JB L+Flip+portable+bluetooth+speaker Since that link is so long, it will no doubt break when emailed so here's a TinyURL link to the same thing: http://tinyurl.com/pow7sj9 AppleVis had a very good podcast by Deng on this speaker and here's a link to it: http://www.applevis.com/podcast/episodes/review-and-demonstration-jbl-flip-p ortable-bluetooth-stereo-speaker Good luck with your shopping. Re: Weather bug Elite Question
Robin, I had the same experience as you did. My experience with weather bug has been off and on. They do respond to your concerns and will make an effort to fix problems. It might be in the next update which may take some time but they have always done what they said they would even if it takes several years. I've had weather bug in one form or another sense around 1996. I was thinking about requesting a new app called Weather Bug light that would be just the basic temperature, humidity, winds etc with out the tiles and with out the backgrounds. Pretty much just a text only version but I'm not sure how they would receive it. In that case, I'd configure the POP client to leave the messages on the server or maybe only delete them from the server if you delete them or move them into another folder. Labelling boxes, using iPhone Apps!
Hi, I know we were meant to drop this thread, as it had strayed off topic, however, I have another solution which involves only the iPhone and its apps. So, I hope this is OK. There is an app, which I think many of us have forgotten about, it is called Audio Labels (I can find the link to it if wanted) this app works rather in the way that the penFriend works. The nice thing about it is the ability to relabel any available bar-code. So, for example, if I wanted to label boxes, as with the original question, I could, say, cut the bar-codes from boxes of cardboard, such as cereal boxes, and stick them to my storage boxes, using 'Audio Labels' to give them the appropriate information. Then, when I use my phone with Audio Labels running, it would be simplicity itself to read the label, which would be easily feelable and find out what is in there. Does this make sense. The thing i like about it is that one can recycle existing barcodes and the problem of finding the barcode, once stuck to my box or whatever, would be simple to find! Perhaps it is too late now, time being at a premium, but maybe it would be an idea to collect such labels for future use. I should also mention that none of this will effect other barcode apps when they read these labels, they will only see their original info. JMT, Sandy. Re: best OCR apps
Hi, Text Grabber has a lovely, simple interface and has quite a good OCR Engine, but prizmo's is a little more sophisticated. So, if you come across a piece of text, perhaps in a newspaper/magazine where text is displaced by pictures/headlines/cartoons etc, prizmo might do rather batter than TG for you. However, I have found that TG does better with shiny surfaces. In short, the two apps compliment eachother. plus, should one become, temporarily, inaccessible, something that can happen to the best intentioned of apps, you will always have the other. Finally, prizmo allows you to create multi-page documents/books. i haven't done much with this myself, but the possibility is there! HTH Sandy. Re: best OCR apps
Hello Lelia, If you use a StandScan pro or a ScanBox, then TextGrabber is your best option. However, if you ever need to use the app free-hand, you'd be better off with Prizmo which gives you guidance to focus and is much more forgiving than TextGrabber. Re: question about i phone badderieys and cases.
You can get an external battery. They have all kinds of different sizes and in all kinds of price ranges. For example, I have an iGo battery. It's a 1800 mAh good for maybe 2 complete recharges. It has 2 USB ports and a flip down A/C power wall plug to recharge the battery. It's smaller then a deck of cards and you use your sync/charge cable from your device to the USB port. You can actually read the amount of charging going on in the usual way with your iPhone. There are many other kinds. There is one that's a cylinder. It has a USB port on one end and a plug on the other with a little pull out cord that retracts back into the battery. Plug it into a USB port on a computer and your in business. Batteries get up into 10,000 mAh. I'd guess though that might be a tad bit on the large size though. A good place to go to have a look-see might be radio shack or online. I've seen prices from around 4 bucks on up to over a hundred. Sorry about that. iOS 7 on iPhone 4S is ridiculously slow, and I would rather not do a podcast where I have speed issues. That said, do not upgrade to iOS 7 when it is released unless you have an iPhone 5 and above, or you can put up with really horrible lag issues. -Shaf -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Re: best OCR apps
Hi, Anne and Sandy have both given good answers to the question about what the difference is between the TextGrabber and Prizmo OCR apps. My quick answer would be similar to Anne's: that for use with a StandScan Pro or Scan Box that supports your iPhone at the right height, TextGrabber might work slightly better for you, but that the voice guidance features of Prizmo for image positioning make it easier to use if you are trying to OCR something freehand. (Anne, Sandy, and I, along with a few other list members, all trained ourselves to use these OCR apps freehand using the previous version of Prizmo. If you have no vision, I'd recommend getting the Light Detector app to check lighting conditions before you use your OCR app freehand.) In addition, as Sandy says, Prizmo works in a way that is a bit more like conventional OCR apps for scanners, in being able to separate out regions of text and pictures. Because these two apps use different OCR engines, one or the other may perform slightly better for specific documents. And in addition to the basic engine, you may find TextGrabber more streamlined for doing page by page document scans with the StandScan Pro, but prefer to use Prizmo for books. I wanted to point out one feature of Prizmo that hasn't been mentioned: it can can run OCR from PDF files, while OCR apps either require that the image be taken by the user from the camera, or by selecting an image from your camera roll, or by starting with a jpeg image. A number of people have asked whether it's possible to run an OCR from a PDF image -- especially college students who may receive official forms or class handouts as scanned PDF images that they either download or get as mail attachments. In those cases you can use the Open in feature to open that PDF document in Prizmo, and OCR the results. Before. we had to screen capture the images to our camera rolls, and then use either TextGrabber or Prizmo to open the last image in our camera rolls and OCR it, and you'd have to do a separate screen shot for each page. This feature of the upgraded version of Prizmo from a few months ago is usable on any iOS device, regardless of that device's camera resolution. There's a good LifeHacker article on The Best Image-to-Text App for iPhone: http://lifehacker.com/5829568/the-best-image+to+text-app-for-iphone It's old, but basically accurate, except for the current pricing information. Prizmo and TextGrabber have each received recent version upgrades that improved OCR performance and the the app's interface, along with its accessibility with VoiceOver. Apart from the overall quality and accuracy of the OCR performance, both these apps support multiple languages (even in the same document), and can deal with images that are upside down or rotated by 90 degrees. TextGrabber will support OCR in more non-European languages, so that might be another consideration. Prizmo lists for $9.99, and has only gone on sale a few times. TextGrabber's price has been as high as $9.99, especially after the recent version upgrade, but goes on sale more frequently, and has been available for as low as $0.99 and $1.99 recently, so this can be quite a bargain. (Current TextGrabber price is $5.99) There's a third OCR app that a number of people like: TextDetective. It works using the iPhone camera with the device held in landscape mode. For many people, before the release of Prizmo version 2, Text Detective was the first freehand OCR app they were able to get results with. It works very fast, and updates you on the OCR progress. You can save results to history, send as a text message or send as email. However, it only works in English, you have to orient the document correctly (no upside down or rotated text), and the image usually only covers a section of the area or page that you want to OCR. You can use it for non-standard conditions -- like holding it in front of your computer screen to OCR contents when your screen reader voice has failed. TextDetective was released at a very low price ($1.99), but since the New Year has been priced at $9.99. Unlike Prizmo and TextGrabber, TextDetective was designed with visually impaired users in mind. I will say, however, that both Prizmo and TextGrabber did a wonderful job of redesigning their interfaces for use with VoiceOver in response to user feedback. Here are the App Store URLs for all three OCR apps mentioned above, with current prices: • TextGrabber + Translator for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch ($5.99) by ABBYY https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/textgrabber-+-translator/id438475005?mt=8 • Prizmo - Scanning, OCR, and Speech ($9.99) by Creaceed https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/prizmo-scanning-ocr-speech/id366791896?mt=8 • TextDetective ($9.99) by Blindsight https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/textdetective/id541494875?mt=8 HTH. Both can be warn on either ear, and both are usually under 30 dollars on Amazon. you're not going to find one with good transmit audio. Personally I think that's a weakness of bluetooth Now, the bluetooth device I have has three microphones on the boom and this is ostensibly for noise reduction. While it does suppress a good bit of the noise the transmit audio still leaves much to be desired. Ray T. Re: Bluetooth speaker
Hi, Traci. Just looking at Amazon and yes, this speaker does sound really cute, I'm thinking of the strawberry myself. grin I can't tell from the reviews and the product description if this is a stereo speaker or if I'll need to buy two of them to get a stereo sound. Also, how easy was it to pair? They say the pairing code is on the bottom of the speaker, so not sure how doable this will be for me since I can't see the code. Questions about Downcast
Hi. I have some questions about downcast. If I have not opened that app in about a month or more, and I do not want every single episode of every single podcast I am subscribed to to download, how can I stop that right away? When I open the app, things automatically start to download. What if I just want the newest episode of each podcast to download, or what if I don't want anything to download at all and I just want to choose which podcasts I want to catch up on and which episodes I want to download after not opening the app in a while? Hi, it looks like the next model up, the jam plus may let you connect two for stereo sound. I just paired my iPhone to the strawberry one we own and yes, there is a code on the bottom, but it doesn't look necessary. I didn't need to enter anything. Enjoy! Re: best OCR apps
Hi Esther and Others. You can infact make good quality images with your standscan pro and prizmo, and e.g. use finereader on your computer to recognize the images, it works pritty good. There are still a little bug in prizmo, I think there are a limmet of how many pages can be saved in a single PDF file. The only problem I have, is that it is difficult to get the PDF image opened in another app, which will allow you to save to dropbox, if anybody knows an app, so I can use prizmos open in function and get the image into my dropbox I will be happy. Cheers Annie. Den Jul 6, 2013 kl. 11:16 PM skrev Esther mori...@mac.com: Hi, Anne and Sandy have both given good answers to the question about what the difference is between the TextGrabber and Prizmo OCR apps. I will say, however, that both Prizmo

Re: best OCR apps
Hi Annie and Brett, Annie, are you saving as text or as PDF when you export the OCR resukts from Prizmo via the open in command? I was going to suggest using a file manager app, such as Brett's example of using Phone Drive, so you have the option to rename your exported document. You can export directly to Dropbox, but it's more awkward. Also you might be able to use a file managing app to zip compress contents before transfer. I've usually opened my documents in Voice Dream Reader, but I haven't scanned really large documents. you may be correct that there's a memory buffer size limitation. You could also concatenate text files or use a PDF merge program on your computer. I agree that Prizmo is straight-forward to use, too, with the StandScan Pro.
RE: local news apps
At the very least your local nbc, cbs and abc affiliates should have their own apps. Local papers if they're big enough as well. In addition to NBC and ABC, I also have KTLA (Los Angeles) on my iPhone. I also have a Bay Area app since I'm from there, but don't have notifications turned on for it since I don't need to receive traffic or weather reports and such. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Rebecca Ilniski Sent: Saturday, July 06, 2013 6:22 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: local news apps Hi all. RE: Deleting items from music app
Hi, Shannon. I'm not an expert on this and I've always found the control iTunes exerts over iDevices more than a little offputting. But then I've always preferred managing my own music and files manually as opposed to a turnkey system that does it for me. I gather that what you can do to manually delete music from your iPod might be controlled by how the music was placed there from iTunes. If iTunes is set up to automatically sync your music, I think this can affect what can be deleted from the device itself. I thought the article at the below link was pretty good at explaining some of this: http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/removing-songs-from-a-man ually-managed-ipod/ If I were trying to remove a large number of tracks from an iDevice, I think I would first go into iTunes, set it up to not allow automatic syncing with iDevices. This is found under Edit, Preferences, and then under the Devices tab in the dialog that opens. Then, I would set up a playlist containing just the tracks I wanted to sync or maybe multiple playlists depending on your situation. Then, I would attach your iPod and while focus is on it within iTunes, select the music button and mark the playlists you want to sync between the computer and the iPod. After you execute the sync button, your iPod should contain the music you want. I hope this makes sense and is accurate. It has worked for me in getting my iPhone set up but I've not used this approach to delete tracks off my iPhone. Hopefully, someone more knowledgeable than me can correct any mistakes I might have made. Good luck. The selecting part works just fine, but it doesn't seem to want to delete from the IPod. It just sits there, but the amount of stuff on the pod doesn't change. Re: Bluetooth Headset Recommendation
Hey Raul; How is the battery life on the Samsung 1700? Thanks Anthony Sent from my iPad On Jul 6, 2013, at 11:29 AM, Raul A. Gallegos r...@raulgallegos.com wrote: Hi all, here's what I have, but note that this may not fit Mike's suggested requirements. Re: question about iPhone batteries and cases.

You can read the iLounge review of the MyCharge Hub 6000 Portable Powerbank with Lightning: http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/mobile/reviews/mycharge-hub-6000-portable-powerbank-with-lightning/ Here's a shortened link to the URL for the iLounge Mobile Edition review, in case that link wraps: http://bit.ly/12a4Qtg You can use the Safari reader button. The ratings are displayed as images, but I take a screen shot and use Prizmo to read this off as Highly Recommended, which means a grade of A or A minus. (Prizmo has a convenient button option for Last Taken Picture. I double tap on the document, then instead of double tapping the Recognize button, I first double tap on the Readability button near the bottom right corner of the screen, and then double tap on the White button for Text color at the bottom right of the Readability screen, which inverts colors for OCR, and let's the rating images be recognized. Then I double tap the Apply button in the top right corner to return to the previous screen, and double tap the Recognize button to perform the OCR. The text result comes back as Highly Recommended.) Annie, these MyCharge Hub 6000 Portable Powerbans have both lightning and micro-USB connector plugs attached to the battery.
