it handle just fine with Mandarin and cantonese. I tried Bahasa Indonesia for the sake of it, can't get it understand me. But then, i'm not good at the language to start with. Pablo, The easiest way to dictate in another language is to add that language to your keyboard layout/language if it is in that list. I am bilingual in German and English and I have the German keyboard added as a second keyboard. This way whenever the onscreen keyboard pops up and I want to dictate an email or something in German I only have to switch to the German keyboard layout and at the same time SIRI will know that I am dictating in German. wow Sieghard, thanks very much for the tips. i never know that. The way i did it is rather troublesome. I got to go to siri setting and change language that way, then change it back again. thats why i don't do it often. Now i know you can dictate to siri using the other language keyboard, i shall try it. As i don't know how to write in Chinese, it never bother me to investigate to add on to the keyboard. Now, there is a dumb question, but Where do you add extra keyboard language? Google Drive is quite accessible from a PC or a Mac using Chrome and ChromeVox. I also wouldn't assume Google products won't get more accessible over time. Google Maps, ChromeOS, Android, Chrome with ChromeVox and so on have all improved accessibility tremendously over the last few years. Train autocorrect words in iOS
The iOS Autocorrect feature is notorious for being very aggressive
in correcting certain words, particularly those words with
colorful, offensive, or controversial meanings – basically any
curse word. If you get fed up with autocorrects persistent mouth
(finger?) soap, you can either use shortcuts to automatically
replace the words that autocorrect struggles with

2. Tap in the topmost “Search” box and type the word you want
autocorrect to stop correcting, then tap on “Go” to search for it
3. Now go back to any text editor, Messages, etc, to type the
originally intended word – no more autocorrecting it!
Teach Autocorrect words with Safari Search
This is extremely effective if you’ve been struggling with the
iPhone / iPad autocorrecting certain names, or the many infamous
curse word corrections of duckings, tucks, ducks, shots, ships,
bass wholes, and all the rest. (excuse the language)
Autocorrect for curse words
If you put a typo into the Safari search box and now autocorrect
is making things even worse, you can always start over again by
resetting the entire autocorrect dictionary

autocorrect related/ will be cleared out and all of your typing
corrections and learning will start from scratch with that approach.
Overall this is probably a better trick than using the shortcuts

expansion, which is better used as intended for quickly typing out
things like email addresses, long names, and phrases.

Re: iPad mini cases with detachable keyboard
The front and back cover our about the thickness of a cover of a hard back book. The keyboard is also just about to fat thickness or maybe a bit more. So multiply those by three and add to the iPad. That is, if you are going to use the keyboard in the case. The problem I see using the key board case is when you fold back the front to use the iPad, the keys are exposed on the backside. Unfortunately, you cannot flip over the keyboard so the keys are facing the padding because there are not magnets on that side of the keyboard. I wonder if some little pieces of tape back magnetic dots would fix that problem. The kickstand is not totally flush with the back of the case, but it is stiffly enough closed not to be a problem getting caught on things. I really think for the price this is an excellent case. Hi Pablo For me, this is the most frustrating and the only bug in IOS 7 that I complain about and haven't found a work around. Guess this is something we will have to suffer, bang our heads, yell and deal with the best we can without giving ourselves a heart attack before Apple comes up with a bug fix. I do have photo stream off and I was wondering if this would make a difference or not in uploading them to Google Drive. I do have Chrome installed on the phone, so I give that a try also. Sirie is not finding a contact
I added a contact to my address book. When I ask sirie to call the contact, she is not finding it. Do I need to update my contacts somehow with Sirie? Hi Pablo and Donna, It is possible to edit emails, but you have to remember that the behavior is different and work around it. I do this (both for emails and text messages) by swiping into the field. For example, if I want to review a text message, I put my finger on the Sent button on the right side of the screen just above the P on the keyboard. Now I swipe left once. This will make Voiceover read out the content of the entire edit field. I can now double tap with one finger to move to the beginning of the edit field or double tap again to move to the end again. If I want to go through my text word by word and make some corrections, I go to the beginning of the text, then I turn the rotor to words and swipe down which moves my cursor word by word. As soon as Voiceover speaks a word the cursor is placed at the end of that word. Let's assume I used Dictation to dictate the following text message: Hello, I am back from my trip no but I only just came back to the office and will call soon. Note that I wanted to say back from my trip now, but SIRI heard no and I want to add the w at the end of no. I swipe into the text field, then I do a double tap with one finger to move the cursor to the start of the text. Now I turn the rotor to words and swipe down with one finger 8 times and the last swipe will be when Voiceover reads the word no. I know my cursor is at the end of the word so I just type a w then I once again touch the send button and swipe left once. Voiceover now reads the sentence out correctly, I can swipe right again to Send and double tap to send the message. In email it works the same way, if you swipe into the message body field you can go to the start or end with a double tap and you can turn the rotor to characters, words or lines to read through your email. If it is a longer mail I would use lines to find the line I want, then turn the rotor back once to words, find where I want to make a correction or insert more text and do it. I haven't practiced writing an email and editing it by moving the cursor with my finger as David suggests you can do and therefore I can't really say if I like it or not. I don't write an email on the iPhone unless I am away and have to, doing email on a computer is so much faster and more efficient and I just don't see the point in trying to do more than maybe read email, but if I am at home or at my office where a computer is always nearby then that is certainly easier. Just because I can reply to an email on my iPhone doesn't mean I have to do it if I can do it quicker on my laptop at home or one of my desktops at work. Hi Joanne, Go to Settings, General, Keyboards. Go to the last item on the screen by doing a 4-finger tap or just touch a bit above the home key, the last thing there is Keyboard Shortcuts. Swipe left once from there and, in my case, I hear Voiceover say Keyboards, 3, button I am not sure if it says 1 if you don't have any extra keyboards installed yet or if it just says Keyboards, but if you double tap here you see the keyboards you have installed and underneath an Add button which gives you the full list where you can select the ones you want including the Emoji keyboard. As Harry pointed out, once you have more than one keyboard installed, you get an icon at the bottom left of the keyboard to the right of the shift key and you do have to double tap or split tap it to change languages. This will not change Voiceover language, just the input and dictation works in whatever keyboard is selected. I certainly can't confirm this problem. Go into settings, general, Siri, and make sure your language settings are set to your particular country. Sometimes, the settings can change to another country. This causes speech recognition to go bad because the accents are much different. using the search facility in the tv guide app
I am trying to do a search for shows in the tv guide app and am getting an empty list and I know the show exists. I have the app set to favorite channels. Here's my search: 1.I enter antiques roadshow in the search box and select search for shows button. I get an empty list whether I enter on the text box or not. I recommend you read the what's new description because a few things have changed, like to go to the menu you'll need to do a two finger flick up instead of the tap and hold of previous versions. Searching in note in AccessNote
Hi, I just updated AccessNote and am trying to use the revamped Find in Note function. But I can't get to the actuall search resultin a note after entering the search string. When I use the Cancel button as descibed in the user guide, I'm just placed at the first line in the note. Any tips out there? Thanks in advance. I was afraid this might happen. When I went to update Fleksy, I get a message saying that the current version requires iOS 7.0 or later but that I can download the last compatible version if not running iOS 7. However, I have been unable to install this so-called last compatible version which I suspect is version 1.9 I was already running before this upgrade occurred. Has anyone running a pre-iOS 7 version successfully gotten Fleksy to work since they upgraded it? I don't know why developers can't make a version that those of us who aren't inclined to move to iOS 7 can continue to use. What gee whiz features did they add to this latest 2.0 version of Fleksy that required iOS 7? before I report this as a bug, can anyone else successfully use the copy and paste option on fleksey? I can set up and use favorites and post to facebook, but when I try to copy and paste to a person not in my favorites then it doesn't paste what I typed despite the fact it took the text out of the typing field in fleksey. If this matters I'm using an iPhone 5s on 7.0.3. I know I haven't updated to 7.0.4 yet! Hi Alan, I tried to update Fleksy on my iPad mini, which is still running IOS 6.1.3 and encountered the exact same thing you did. I tried removing the app and re-installing it with the same results, the only difference is that I lost my dictionary and favorites. I like the punctuation and numbers being accessed on the same page in the new version, however, I can't manually capitalize letters anymore, which I used a lot, considering my name is Chuck and my friends name is Mark. I am not looking forward to the confusion of having different gestures on my iDevices, if I need to run two different versions of Fleksy. Most of my typing is on my iPhone, and since I cannot update my Mini, this point is moot for now. While I feel the Fleksy team has done some remarkable work with this app, I fear they dropped the ball this time. I am sure they will iron out the bugs eventually. Recommendations for weather apps for iPad.
Hello, Does anyone have any recommendations for good weather apps for the iPad? I’m looking for one that has push notifications for multiple locations, since Apple stubbornly refuses to give iPad users the weather app. I’ve tried TWC for iPad, but don’t like the layout. When you first start Papa Sangre, you will be guided through the basics of playing the game, and you may receive guidance in particular situations if you seem to get stuck. . In the original Papa Sangre, you work up through 25 levels, each of which has its own particular challenges. While playing, the phone will be in landscape mode, with the home button to the left. In each level, you have a sound cue, usually a repeating tone or pair of tones, that you want to keep centered in front of you as you move about. To move, you tap on the lower left and lower right corners of the screen as if you're taking steps. To turn, you gently swipe left or right with one finger near the top of the screen, and as you do, you'll hear the sounds change around you. You'll soon discover that the sound environment is as close to 3-dimentional as it's apt to get, which is really immersive and really cool. If you're like many fans of the game, you'll be amazed at the attention to detail that went into the audio environment. The challenges mainly have to do with navigating the environment and trying to avoid being devoured by wild hogs, sliced and diced by scyth-wielding reapers or otherwise killed by other assorted nasty beings. When you die, and you most assuredly will many times over while traversing the various levels, you'll do it in noisy, spectacular gory fashion and Thank God that the feelies aren't part of the experience. Should voiceover be left on? Yes, VoiceOver should be turned off, or you'll have all of its chatter to deal with and your various taps and swipes will be intercepted and acted on, which you don't want.
