Is there a birds app to act as a sleep timer, plays for pre-determined
amount of time before shutting off. someof our defunct radio channels do
this, and the last one I heard of got better ratings after they went off
air and played a 20 minute loop tape of some rural scene including bird song
for the most part. This is so relaxing!

Re: Four Down on iPad

Hi Pamela,

I'm the developer of Four Down http://deftmethods.com/apps/fourdown. I
think we've exchanged emails in the past. I haven't been checking this list
as often as I'd like, so apologies for the delayed response. Thanks for
taking the time to ask about the problem you're having. In the future,
please feel free to email me directly (a...@deftmethods.com) so that I can
respond a little quicker!

Unfortunately, I don't think I can reproduce the problem. I can swipe down
with a single finger to step through the across clues and the down clues
letter-by-letter. Is this what you were referring to? Perhaps I've
misunderstood.

A couple of things that might help me: are you using iOS 6 or iOS 7, and
are you using your iPad mini in portrait or landscape?

Thanks,
Andy

Re: t-mobile, anyone?

2014-01-22 Thread Fred Olver
Thanks to all of you for your input. When it comes right down to it for me,
it will probably the need to save a few dollars vs. limited coverage. Also,
another part of the problem is that I would want a 64-MB phone phone or
figure out how to access my files from the cloud and then there's the issue
of how to get it there in the first place. I am somewhat tech-savi, just not
sure I'm ready to tackle that issue yet, but perhapse now is the time. I
have absolutely a ton of music and other stuff I'd like to be able to
access, but I don't have room on the HD I-Tunes is on to put all the stuff.
My home is quickly becoming an Apple home with the purchase of an I-Pad for
my daughter for Xmas, two Apple TV's in the last month to cut down on the
cable expense and two I-Phones, one for my daughter and one for me, and then
there's the I-Pod I'm thinking about selling because it appears to be so
difficult to put books on it, and the two or is it three other I-Pods that
my daughter has. 30 years ago, I used an Apple computer for the first time
and loved it. I still put Apple products at the top in terms of
accessibility, how to manage it all is the conundrum.

Fred,

All carriers have areas in the country they cover well and other
places where coverage is disappointing. The coverage area of T-Mobile
is vast, but not as expansive as ATT or Verizon. T-Mobile on the
iPhone is a different matter. The company is adding upgrades to its
cell towers to better support the device. With an initial upgrade,
T-Mobile has speeds of HSPA+ service or several megabyte’s a second
download speeds. Those areas that have yet to be upgraded have EDGE
service, which is just several times faster than the old dial-up modem
connections. I believe all or nearly all cell towers have been
upgraded to HSPA+. Check with T-Mobile to learn the status of towers
in your area. Recently, much of T-Mobile’s network was upgraded to LTE
with download speeds of 10 to 20 MBPS or more. I understand more than
200 million people are now reached by T-Mobile LTE. Check with the
company to learn about the kind of service available in your area. I
live in Chicago and we had LTE last summer. The speeds are faster than
on my home Internet connection. I have a $30 a month offering that
provides unlimited data. I am able to select an NLS talking book as I
leave for lunch in downtown Chicago and it is downloaded and ready for
listening after my meal.

Denise raises an issue specific to T-Mobile in comparing the four big
national carriers. It is the only one with frequencies primarily at
the higher end of the wireless spectrum. In general, the higher
frequencies travel shorter distances and penetrate buildings, walls,
ceilings, floors, and other obstructions rather poorly. The hassle
that Denise described is one of the reasons why people demand to pay
less for T-Mobile service compared to other carriers are. All of this
being said, I would like to mention that I used T-Mobile with my
iPhone 5 at the DFW airport to locate my gate and an airport
restaurant with the Seeing Eye GPS app. I also made a phone call from
the airport restaurant. The company recently bought lower frequency
spectrum from Verizon in major metro areas. Depending on where you
live, this could be of benefit to you.

RE: VIP Inbox Notification Followup

2014-01-22 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Kay,

Simply open the Mail app, make sure you are backed out of any accounts to
the main screen of the Mail app.

Now find VIP in your accounts list, make sure you swipe right once where
Voiceover will say More Info for VIP and double tap on this.

This will be your list of people which you added to VIP, if you never added
anybody this will of course be empty.

There is an Add button, double tap it and select who you want in your VIP
list from your Contacts, that's all.

It also points out right in this area that you can set custom alerts in
Notification Settings under Mail, VIP.

Take care,

Sieghard

Was your phone locked or unlocked when you tested it? I assume you will have
to go to Settings, Notification Center, Mail, then select the VIP account
and make sure you have selected to include it in Notification Center and
also that it shows alerts on the lock screen. You may also have to enable
Voiceover to speak notifications on the lock screen in Voiceover settings,
but I'm not sure if that is necessary or not.

Hi Alan,

Unless you have set up your mail account to check manually or at certain
time intervals, notifications should come regardless as to whether the mail
app is running or not. Go to Settings, Mail, Contacts and Calendar and make
sure you have set up your mail account to fetch mail with Push. This will
use a bit more battery, but I don't think it's all that bad, I have 3
accounts set up with Push and when I once set them to fetch mail only once
every hour I didn't notice much of a difference as far as battery was
concerned.

Re: t-mobile, anyone?

2014-01-22 Thread Wayne Merritt
Fred,
Have you looked at Sprint? they have unlimited data and lower costs
than the other big carriers. You would have to check on coverage
though. From where I am in Austin, Texas, people have told me that
they've gotten coverage all the way from Austin to Amarillo, which is
a large area of Texas. My wife and I will likely be going to Sprint
for the lower costs and unlimited data when our ATT contracts run out
in September. The cost difference is around $30 or $40 less a month,
which is fairly significant. That will be about the time for the new
iPhone 6 for me, and an iPhone 5C for her. Of the 4 major U.S.
carriers, TMobile seems to be more expensive, especially if you go for
their early upgrade plan.

Wayne Merritt

of how to get it there in the first place. I am somewhat tech-savi, just not

have absolutely a ton of music and other stuff I'd like to be able to
access, but I don't have room on the HD I-Tunes is on to put all the stuff.

Re: Mophie Juice Pack and synching with itunes

2014-01-22 Thread Sherrie
This is the way mine works. It will charge with the micro usb cord but will
not sync. I tried it with the charging switch both ways and it did not
work.

This is by design, I think it’s because of the restrictions of the lightning
connector. If you make sure the juice pack is switched on, the phone will
sync with itunes over your network, but not over USB while using the case.

I got one of these cases with my new iphone 5s the other day, but I

it charges the phone, but the computer will not recognize the phone for
itunes to synch any of my music so I have to take it out and use the
lightning adaptor. Does anyone have this problem or am I doing something
wrong?

Re: VIP Inbox Notification Followup

2014-01-22 Thread Kay Malmquist
Sieghard,

Thanks for this. Since I have a gmail account it sounds like there is no
point in setting this up because of the lack of push notification with
gmail. I will play with this though. Thanks much.

  Kay,

Simply open the Mail app, make sure you are backed out of any accounts to
the main screen of the Mail app.

Now find VIP in your accounts list, make sure you swipe right once where
Voiceover will say More Info for VIP and double tap on this.

This will be your list of people which you added to VIP, if you never
added anybody this will of course be empty.

There is an Add button, double tap it and select who you want in your
VIP list from your Contacts, that's all.

It also points out right in this area that you can set custom alerts in
Notification Settings under Mail, VIP.

  Take care,

  Sieghard

Hi Alan,

Was your phone locked or unlocked when you tested it? I assume you will
have to go to Settings, Notification Center, Mail, then select the VIP
account and make sure you have selected to include it in Notification Center
and also that it shows alerts on the lock screen. You may also have to
enable Voiceover to speak notifications on the lock screen in Voiceover
settings, but I'm not sure if that is necessary or not.

Sieghard, thanks for your comments but even though I have my mail app
settings set to push, my VIP notifications don't notify me until I open the
mail app. I tested it tonight by having my VIP person send me a message and
it clearly did not notify me until I opened the mail app. I guess I need to
explore further to see how to get it to notify me the way I want.

Hi Alan,

Unless you have set up your mail account to check manually or at certain
time intervals, notifications should come regardless as to whether the mail
app is running or not. Go to Settings, Mail, Contacts and Calendar and make
sure you have set up your mail account to fetch mail with Push. This will
use a bit more battery, but I don't think it's all that bad, I have 3
accounts set up with Push and when I once set them to fetch mail only once
every hour I didn't notice much of a difference as far as battery was
concerned.

I guess I'm still a bit unclear how these notifications work as compared

Oh my gall, I didn’t think about using more than one finger slot for the same

I’ll try that, because my thumb is really convenient to use. Surprisingly, my

Thank you for the suggestions.

of between the tip of the finger and the first joint, things improved a lot.
Certainly it seems that turning on Reduce Motion improves fingerprint
scanning as well. This was once again mentioned as well in the most recent
Today in iOS podcast where a caller said that after turning it on
fingerprint recognition was much improved. Anyhow, you did already say you
 turned it on.
I use my right thumb almost always so I scanned it onto 3 of the 5 available
positions, i.e. I did all the scans for fingerprint 1, then I set up
fingerprint 2 also with my thumb and also fingerprint 3. I used 4 and 5 for
another finger, but the more you scan it the better it will work. Ever since
I use more of the pad of my thumb below the very tip and did multiple scans
of the same finger it's been consistently working extremely well.
Certainly it won't hurt to also occasionally clean the sapphire crystal
which covers the home button, if you have a micro fibre cloth like the ones
they sell together with cleaning fluid for LCD screens I would recommend it,
but you can also just use a paper towel or tissue, the sapphire crystal is
extremely hard and you don't have to worry about scratching the surface.

Please, any tips on consistent finger print reading success?

I have recreated prints a few times, with positive results for a handful of

Wayne, I was on sprint several years ago for about as long as I had to be, I

is my understanding that when carriers like ATT use narrower bandwidth for
signals that the quality diminishes.

Fred,
Have you looked at Sprint? they have unlimited data and lower costs
than the other big carriers.

Re: Paying with iTunes gift card

2014-01-22 Thread Alex Hall
That's what gift cards are for, but you must add them to your account before
making the purchase. Simply open the iTunes Store or iTunes on your computer,
go to your account page (on iOS that is your Apple ID near the bottom), and you
should see a redeem button hanging around there. Once you tap that, you can
either enter the card's code or use the camera on your Mac or iOS device to
capture the code (a very easy process) and there you go. Once done, that
balance is automatically applied to anything you buy in the App Store or on
iTunes.

VizWiz

2014-01-22 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hello,

Somebody asked recently whether VizWiz was still working. I used it
yesterday for the first time on my iPhone 5S to see if I could get a reply
about what the LED display of my digital thermostat for my in-floor heating
system said.

First of all I took the picture, then as usual I tapped Record and asked my
question. However, when I tapped to send the picture, the app said that no
question had been recorded. I did allow the app to use the microphone and
tried a few more times both with Apple Earpods plugged in and without using
the iPhone's built-in microphone and it appears that it doesn't want to
record the question. Has anybody else experienced this?

Anyhow, I sent the image to webworkers anyways assuming they might get what
I want.

Now it gets interesting. I sent the picture a few minutes before 11 AM and
then did something else for a minute or 2 waiting for a reply. When none
came I used Tap Tap See and within about 20 seconds received a result which
said Thermostat 26 Degrees which is exactly what I wanted.

I forgot about VizWiz until about 4:30 PM (5 and a half hours after I sent
the picture) at which time I received 2 push notifications from VizWiz, here
is the text:

1. Where is the question, it is good looking switch

2. Thermostat 26 degrees Celsius

So, VizWiz apparently still does work, but even if answers came after 10
minutes instead of 5.5 hours the service is pretty useless in many instances
where you probably want an answer immediately which means at least within a
minute or so.

Of course there is still the issue that at least on my 5S VizWiz also
doesn't seem to record the question. Let's hope Tap Tap See comes up with a
way to ask a question, I think even asking a question you have to type into
a text field would be good and probably even better since a recording takes
up a lot more space hence it takes longer to transmit the picture with a
recording and one can always use SIRI to dictate a short question which is
probably just as good.

Regards,

Sieghard

Extremely small, clip-on bluetooth speaker

2014-01-22 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hello,

Ed (Pinky) recently mentioned a small Bluetooth speaker which he said was
from Philips and which apparently is small enough and comes with a clip so
it could be clipped to the strap of a backpack or maybe even a coat.

I just search Amazon as well as Google for such an item and could not find
anything. If you see this message, Ed, or if somebody else knows of an item
like this I'd appreciate an exact model name and, if possible, a link for
it. I think this could be a nice way to use a GPS app without having to use
a headset or an earpiece, sort of like the idea of the small speaker which
comes with a Trekker. Bluetooth of course would be ideal.

Sieghard

RE: Time trackers

2014-01-22 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Lumen Trails has that functionality, here is the link:
https://itunes.apple.com/app/daily-tracker-journal-log/id306026134?mt=8
There is a free version, the paid version is $2.99.

Also, I just went to the app store and searched for time tracking and it
comes up with 1,213 results. I checked the first few, they are apps like
these:

Office Time, time and expense tracking
Hours Keeper, time tracking, time sheet and billing
Hours Tracker, time tracking and time sheet
ATracker, daily task and time tracking light
Time Station, attendance and time tracking

These are just some of the examples, most of these seem to have free and
paid versions so you can always try the free version to check accessibility
first.

Re: Accessible twitter apps

2014-01-22 Thread Wayne Merritt
For what it's worht, TweetList put out an updated app not long ago and
it is now called TweetList 4, which is version 4. This is important
since it works with the newer twitterAPI's and better on iOS 7.
TweetList works great if you use lists in Twitter. I like it a lot
since there are gestures you can use to bring up different things, so
I don't have to open a tweet if I want to retweet it or open its
linked URL. Other apps may have different ways of doing this, but I
like how TweetList 4 does it. I also like the different tabs at the
bottom of the screen, for my home timeline, and other specific tabs
just for mentions and direct messages. I would rather have these
categories be in different tabs verses mixed up in one big lump. Your
milage may vary, :)

Re: Accessible twitter apps

2014-01-22 Thread Alex Hall
Just some corrections here. Tweetlist is a great app, but twitterrific has most
of the functionality you say you prefer in Tweetlist. It has separate tweets,
mentions, and messages views, it *can* show everything in one list but you can
turn that off, you can retweet, reply, and so on without opening a tweet, it
fully supports managing lists (as of today), and it supports live streaming.
Both apps cost about the same, though Twitterrific is on sale for $0.99 for a
limited time, so you may just want to grab both. My only gripe with
Twitterrific is that you have to open a link in the in-app browser before you
can send the link to a read later service, but other than that it does
everything Tweetlist does. In fact, it goes a step further, giving real-time
notifications, instead of the interval-based checking Tweetlist does.

Re: Labeling buttons

2014-01-22 Thread Steve

Don,
You can relabel buttons by doing a split-tap and hold.

It should be in the archives, but here is the last one I posted.

1. Open Sirius Xm Radio.

2. There are six buttons on the dock area of the app, although only
five are visible. They are: Categories, channels, favorites, on-demand,
and

downloads. If you swipe with three fingers like you were going to a new
page, settings will be exposed.

3. If you hit categories, the different categories will show up. You can
flick up or down withy your rotor set to headings. Now, you can navigate
the different channel categories by heading. There will be pop, rock,
Hiphop/RB, Dance/Electronic, Country, Christian,

Jazz/Blues/Standards, Classical, Family/Health, Sports, Sports
play-by-play, MLB Play-by-Play, Comedy, Howard Stern, Entertainment,
News/Public Radio, Politics, Religion, More,
Latin, Latin Sports play-by-play.

4. In each heading, you can flick right to

find the channels in that category.

5. If you choose channels, all the channels will be displayed. I think
there you can flick categories by heading. Unfortunately, the channel
numbers or titles don't show, but you can kind of tell where you are by
the

song that is playing. The rock category begins with the Elvis chanel. It
goes through all the on-air offerings, then there are on-line only
channels

like Dylan Theme-Time Radio, Rock Hall of Fame, some others that I can't
remember, and Tom Petty Radio. Similarly, if you look at the country
heading, below the Bluegrass Junction channel is the Folk Village and Red
White and Booze.

6. I wrote a message last week about MySxm. It is kind of accessible.
When you are playing a channel that is customizable, there is a MySxm
button

right below the song title that is playing. I think it will only say My
graphic on the iPhone. If you double-tap that, there are three sliders
that
you can adjust. The labels usually are to the right of the slider that
you

can flick up or down. Example: 60's channel. First slider is
depth/popularity; flicking up from the 50% setting will customize it to
play

more popular songs; flicking down will give you more depth or variety. The
next slider is Rock/MoTown. Flicking up for more rock songs; flick down
for

more Motown soul. Third slider is Tempo, flick up for more faster songs.
On the 50's channel, the middle slider chooses more rock, or if you flick
down, more DooWop. The second slider on the 70's channel is either more
rock or more disco if you flick down; and the third slider chooses early
70's if you flick up or more later 70's if you move the percentage below
50%.\

I just downloaded and installed the Sirius XM app and found much of it to
be unlabeled buttons. Please, would someone point me to a document of some
sort explaining how on an iPhone 4S to label unlabeled buttons.

Incidentally, I just got what I think is a really good deal resubscribing
to Sirius XM. I don't want to clutter the list, so please write offline

RE: t-mobile, anyone?

2014-01-22 Thread DJ
Coverage has been gret for me but I live in a big city. There is a part of
town where I bounce from 1 bar to no service but I had the same problem with
Sprint and I know someone on ATT with the same problem in the same area.
The only building where I've seen my signal drop from 4 or 5 bars outside to
1 or 2 bars inside is at one of our hospitals and that's been way inside the
building. When I had Sprint I always lost service in that hospital.

Hi,

How is the coverage? I was recently talking to someone about getting an air
card for my mac with t-mobile. He explained that the coverage was not good
in some areas, and in other areas, it was down right inconsistent. So, if
you were at one end of a building, you might be able to use your phone just
fine. But if you went to the other end of the hall, then you might not be as
fortunate.

Re: iCloud password

2014-01-22 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi Don,

Did you ever use iCloud to back up content on your phone before the upgrade, or
to sync contacts or other info between your computer and your phone? If so,
that's the password you should use. If not, you can create an iCloud account
using your Apple ID -- the email address and password you use to buy content
from the app store. Unless you share your Apple ID with others, such as family
members, this would make sense. If you do share your Apple ID, you can get an
iCloud email address and use it and a password you make up to use iCloud.

Best,
Anna

Re: App suggestion: Birds?

2014-01-22 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi Rob,

NatureSpace has wonderful bird sounds, along wtih many other great nature
tracks. The app is free and includes six tracks, and you can purchase many
more. It plays the sound you choose continuously; the sound loops, but you
don't notice the looping. It includes a sleep timer. I haven't used the timer,
so I don't know for certain that it's accessible, but the app is accessible
overall, so it should be. The only problem I've had is that since I have
multiple screens of sounds, the app doesn't scroll through them properly when I
flick, but it does move if I use the 3-finger flick up or down.

HTH,
Anna

Re: Extremely small, clip-on bluetooth speaker

2014-01-22 Thread SSEric
I am quite sure he was talking about the Phillips sound shooter.

I did purchase this speaker from Phillips, but I found it was too big and too
heavy to use as described. Yes, it did sound fairly good, but did not meet my
requirement for portability for the purposes we were discussing, I. E.

anything. If you see this message, Ed, or if somebody else knows of an item
like this I’d appreciate an exact model name and, if possible, a link for it. I
think this could be a nice way to use a GPS app without having to use a headset

There is a free version, the paid version is $2.99.

Also, I just went to the app store and searched for time tracking and it
comes up with 1,213 results. I checked the first few, they are apps like
 these:

Office Time, time and expense tracking
Hours Keeper, time tracking, time sheet and billing
Hours Tracker, time tracking and time sheet
ATracker, daily task and time tracking light
Time Station, attendance and time tracking

These are just some of the examples, most of these seem to have free and
paid versions so you can always try the free version to check accessibility
 first.

TiVo Romeo

2014-01-22 Thread BrianMiller
Good evening all,

Does anyone know if the new TiVo Romeo service is accessible? Apparently
the new TiVo Romeo allows you to watch all your TiVo content on a mobile
device, including the iPhone, and I'd love to know if this is accessible to
us blind or visually impaired iPhone users.

Thanks for any feedback!

Re: Labeling buttons

2014-01-22 Thread Donald L. Roberts
Steve, this is truly appreciated. I very much appreciate the specifics
you have provided as a cursory exam shows that there are many buttons.

Don Roberts

On 1/22/2014 12:29 PM, Steve wrote:

Don,
You can relabel buttons by doing a split-tap and hold.

It should be in the archives, but here is the last one I posted.

1. Open Sirius Xm Radio.

2. There are six buttons on the dock area of the app, although only
five are visible. They are: Categories, channels, favorites,
on-demand, and
downloads. If you swipe with three fingers like you were going to a
new
page, settings will be exposed.

3. If you hit categories, the different categories will show up. You
can
flick up or down withy your rotor set to headings. Now, you can navigate
the different channel categories by heading. There will be pop, rock,
Hiphop/RB, Dance/Electronic, Country, Christian,

Jazz/Blues/Standards, Classical, Family/Health, Sports, Sports
play-by-play, MLB Play-by-Play, Comedy, Howard Stern, Entertainment,
News/Public Radio, Politics, Religion, More,
Latin, Latin Sports play-by-play.

4. In each heading, you can flick right to

find the channels in that category.

5. If you choose channels, all the channels will be displayed. I think
there you can flick categories by heading. Unfortunately, the channel
numbers or titles don't show, but you can kind of tell where you are
by the
song that is playing. The rock category begins with the Elvis
chanel. It
goes through all the on-air offerings, then there are on-line only
channels
like Dylan Theme-Time Radio, Rock Hall of Fame, some others that I can't
remember, and Tom Petty Radio.

If you double-tap that, there are three
sliders that
you can adjust. The labels usually are to the right of the slider
that you
can flick up or down. Example: 60's channel. First slider is
depth/popularity; flicking up from the 50% setting will customize it
to play
more popular songs; flicking down will give you more depth or variety.
The
next slider is Rock/MoTown. Flicking up for more rock songs; flick
down for
more Motown soul.
50%.\

I just downloaded and installed the Sirius XM app and found much of it

of some sort explaining how on an iPhone 4S to label unlabeled buttons.

Incidentally, I just got what I think is a really good deal

Re: VizWiz

2014-01-22 Thread Eileens Misrahi
Hello Folks,

I just used VizWiz and I am happy to say that I received an answer. I am using
an iPhone 4, iOS 6.1.2, and the version of VizWiz prior to the current version.
It took 4 minutes to receive the first answer. I am not sure if one is using
iOS 7.0.4 and a 64 bit chip on the phone that would make a difference if VizWiz
would behave differently. If others continue to have problems using the app,
then a concertive effort to let the developers know of the issues. HTH

 Hello,

Somebody asked recently whether VizWiz was still working. I used it yesterday
for the first time on my iPhone 5S to see if I could get a reply about what
the LED display of my digital thermostat for my in-floor heating system said.

First of all I took the picture, then as usual I tapped Record and asked my
question. However, when I tapped to send the picture, the app said that no
question had been recorded. I did allow the app to use the microphone and
tried a few more times both with Apple Earpods plugged in and without using
the iPhone’s built-in microphone and it appears that it doesn’t want to
record the question. Has anybody else experienced this?

Anyhow, I sent the image to webworkers anyways assuming they might get what I
 want.
Now it gets interesting. I sent the picture a few minutes before 11 AM and
then did something else for a minute or 2 waiting for a reply. When none came
I used Tap Tap See and within about 20 seconds received a result which said
“Thermostat 26 Degrees” which is exactly what I wanted.

Of course there is still the issue that at least on my 5S VizWiz also doesn’t
seem to record the question. Let’s hope Tap Tap See comes up with a way to
ask a question, I think even asking a question you have to type into a text
field would be good and probably even better since a recording takes up a lot
more space hence it takes longer to transmit the picture with a recording and
one can always use SIRI to dictate a short question which is probably just as
 good.

 Sieghard

in some areas, and in other areas, it was down right inconsistent. So, if
you were at one end of a building, you might be able to use your phone just
fine. But if you went to the other end of the hall, then you might not be
 as
 fortunate.

Re: VizWiz

2014-01-22 Thread Eric Caron
Hi listers,

I was the original poster. I tried using VizWiz , latest version, on
both my 4 S and 5S using iOS 7.04 and I could not record a question. I could
not even find where to select web workers or the IQ Engines. options I used to
find along with email and twitter and such.

I miss this app as the ability to ask a question made all the
difference to me.

If anyone has the contact info for the developer I'd love to write to them.

Re: Accessible twitter apps

2014-01-22 Thread Alex Hall
It supports streaming, so timelines are updated as soon as tweets arrive. The
notifications I was talking about are push notifications. Tweetlist checks
every few minutes and alerts you, but Twitterrific is always waiting, so can
push an alert immediately. It also supports more than mentions and DMs - it
does follows, favorites of your tweets, and retweets even where you are not
mentioned.
On Jan 22, 2014, at 3:51 PM, Wayne Merritt wcmerr...@gmail.com wrote:

 Alex,
Can you explain that real time notification further? Do you mean it
gives you push notifications, or that it updates the timelines of new
tweets quicker than TweetList? Please explain.

 Wayne

On 1/22/14, Alex Hall mehg...@gmail.com wrote:
Just some corrections here. Tweetlist is a great app, but twitterrific has
most of the functionality you say you prefer in Tweetlist. It has separate
tweets, mentions, and messages views, it *can* show everything in one list
but you can turn that off, you can retweet, reply, and so on without opening
a tweet, it fully supports managing lists (as of today), and it supports
live streaming. Both apps cost about the same, though Twitterrific is on
sale for $0.99 for a limited time, so you may just want to grab both. My
only gripe with Twitterrific is that you have to open a link in the in-app
browser before you can send the link to a read later service, but other than
that it does everything Tweetlist does. In fact, it goes a step further,
giving real-time notifications, instead of the interval-based checking
 Tweetlist does.
On Jan 22, 2014, at 2:49 PM, Wayne Merritt wcmerr...@gmail.com wrote:
