I don't really try and keep track of the thread/chain  though I'd like to if
I could.  I find it enough when Vo reads: Associated with Chinese food and
rice, or whatever the particular example is.

Having said that, when you go to the hints button, is there a quick way to
get back to the word you were on and want to use the hint on?

Anyway, I agree, fun and addictive and worth the little glitches - though if
they could be sorted that would be even better!

I'll check my voice-over settings in the game's settings too. Thanks for
that tip!

I know I'm late on the reply on this thread. After you complete a certain
number of levels, like 20 or 25, many of the game's associated start to get
obvious and repetative, for instance cat to dog, cow to milk to cheese, and

Hi,
If you have the 5s, then Google maps is quite good and free.
Granted, the maps are on their server, but it doesn't really use a ton of data.
Mapquest is also free and quite accessible, where Navigon costs anywhere from 
$30 to  $60 depending on which package you go with, then you have the issue of 
updating maps.
Navigon is the best option for iPod Touch users in my opinion, but with the 5s 
you don't really need to have the maps onboard your device. Plus, having the 
maps on a server, means you always have the most recent maps.
Also, of course, the Apple Maps app is also accessible and free.
I don't use it that much myself because I prefer the interface of Blind Square 
plus Google maps.
But that is a matter of personal preference.
Blind Square, for what it does, is well worth the one time price tag, again in 
my opinion.

http://braille.wunderground.com/. This page is very accessible with VoiceOver.

Thanks Don -- I had to tap on the "sign up" part of the screen, then a
series of edit fields as you describe became available, and then I had to
tap back to the sign in... A bit convoluted, but it worked.  

Now, any ideas how you can play a wave file/music file through drop box?  I
thought I would experiment and see if I could just move some music files
over to my iPhone using Dropbox, but when I tap on the music file it tells
me I can't open that file.

Ok, so I installed the Dropbox app on my iPhone 5, but for the life of me I
can't figure out how to sign in to my already created account. I've done a
three-finger swipe across the 4 pages that are there when you first open the
app, and there is a place where it says, "Already have an account? Sign in,"
but it's not a button you can click, and there is nowhere on the screen that
actually is an edit field to enter your user ID and password.  I'm utter
baffled.  I thought this app was supposed to be accessible?

If you have a Mac you can create and manage groups in the Address book
application. If you have a Windows based machine and use Microsoft Office

RE: Gps apps and the iPod Touch 5th Gen?

Would this be a good option for the Iphone 5s too? I am interested in any kind 
of navigation app that I may be able to use that I don't have to pay a 
subscription fee for monthly or yearly. On my android I have the near by 
explorer and like it and was hoping there was one for the Iphone as well, but 
all I have saw so far is blindsquare and one other that charges so much per 
month or year.

Navigon is probably your best bet.
You can either buy just the region you are in, or the entire US or all of North 
America which includes Canada.
You can then choose which state maps you actually download.

First locate the photo or photos you want to put in your dropbox.

Do a copy job with control C to copy them.

Next, open dropbox on your computer.  Look for the folder, Public and then 
photos.  Open photoes. Then just do a control V to paste the pictures from your 
computer to the photos folder in your dropbox.
It will take time for the pictures you put in the dropbox to upload to the 
dropbox servers.  Once they are uploaded to the dropbox servers, they will 
appear in the public, photos folder.

I'm absolutely addicted to, it's called iAssociate 2.  Its one of the
best word association games out there and its one heck of a challenge!

at times when it comes to what is supposed to associate with what, and
lose track of what I'm doing.  i've found myself using hints for dumb

If you have an apple id as I am assuming you do then signing in to that id 
should allow you to restore that backup or at least let you sync all of your

1. Open the Contacts app and choose the "all contacts" group.
2. Find a person to add to your new group and copy (cmd-c) the name in the 
contacts table.
3. Move to the group to which you want to add the person, and cmd-v to paste 
the person into that group. If you had not yet made the group, simply press 
cmd-shift-n and type the new group name, then follow the above steps.
4. Note that you can add all the contacts you like, and you can do so from 
other groups, not just the "all contacts" group. You can also cut (cmd-x) from 
other groups to remove contacts without deleting them, or hit delete on a 
contact name and choose to remove from group. The only exception is the "all 
contacts" group, which stores, well, all your contacts, no matter what. Also, 
you can paste people into multiple groups - you will not get duplicated contact 
entries.

Thank you so much for the help. The guy at the Verizon store set up the 
phone for me. It didn't even occur to me to tell him to set it up from a 
previous backup.


Now all is good, and I am very pleased.
However, I have a few more questions.

I need to erase some things from my phone, as I no longer need them.
How do I delete some aps?
Also, how do I delete text messages?
And last, but not least, how do I delete some contacts?

Any help from anyone would be very much appreciated.

 I have the app, and they don't currently. However, I've been told they're 
working on that so I hope so. It is nice to have the app though and I'm bad 
about streaming through Apple Tv if it's just me at home, and using the app for 
Tv, since I know the channels a lot better than on just the remote. Lol. But, 
it is doable. I did find out though if you're moving channel to channel in the 
app, double tap, Live Tv, and all your listing stuff will come up, turn off 
voiceover and you can swipe up with one finger or down, with one finger and 
move back and forward in your channels, just like a remote would do. It's nice.

Re: How to move item to the doc on iPad mini

One problem I'm having on my iPad Air is, spell check sometimes works and 
sometimes doesn't work.  I hear the popup sound and misspelled is announced.  
Yet the choices of possible misspelled choices is not shown on the screen.  
I've even had my sighted wife look and she says the choices aren't shown.  
Sense she got the air the same time as I got mine she offered to let me turn 
voice over on and try it on her iPad so I did.  The same problem occurs on her 
iPad Air too.  I'm hoping it gets fixed in the upcoming upgrade to the OS.

My guess is that DAISY books would be zip archives. I would suggest 
double-tapping the download link. Probably, one of the options would be to open 
in Voice Cream Reader.

I hope that those that are encountering this issue are taking the time
to email BARD and let them know. When doing this, let them know the
book's or magazine's title, author, and book number. I have found them
to be very responsive. If they don't know about it then they can't fix
it. The BARD Mobile support email address is:

I am hesitant to read any books longer than 15 or 20 hours because of
this very issue, so definitely let them know so they can look into and
perhaps even isolate the problem.

If you want it to sound better, try going to settings, then music.
Sound check will help make all songs play at the same volume, and you
can choose a different equalizer setting by double tapping the EQ
button. I have it set to Base Booster, and it sounds great. If you
just want a different music app, there is one called Muxica that works
pretty well. I had some issues with it after putting iOS 7 on my phone
last fall, where it would not remember the current playlist I was in
after several hours of not playing music. So I went back to the stock
Music app. One great thing about Muxica is that it automatically fades
in and out of songs, making listening to a playlist very enjoyable,
and almost like you're listening to the radio. I think it costs, but
not sure on the price. I want to say $1.99.

Terry, when you set up the iPhone you should have set it up to restore 
from an iCloud backup. You are going to have to perform an erase all 
content and settings before you can do this. Nowhere on the iPhone can 
you restore from an iCloud backup other than during setup. So to erase 
all content and settings.

1. Double tap settings. The rest will assume you double tap.
2. General.
3. Reset.
4. Erase all content and settings.
5. Erase iPhone.
Note you may have to do this twice for confirmation. You may also need 
to enter your Apple Id password to complete this process.

I got my iphone pritty late, in 2012 but for me the holding off was better in 
the long run. Now Its my main device after my Nokia N73 decided to quit 
physically not functionally after the back kept on deciding it didn't want to 
stay on anymore and I suppose the battery wasn't lasting as long as it did wen 
I 1st got it. Well that's to be expected since I got it in 2007 and it lasted 
till late December 2012 So its had a good life. :)
Hope you enjoyed the history of how I switched to the iphone and of course I 
was listening to all kinds of podcasts while still using the Nokia phone and 
decided to get the iphone because of its accessibility and by doing this I made 
the right choice because also 5 years or so before getting a new phone things 
are bound to change in all aspects of the word mainstream and assistive tech 
the like.

Sorry, but I don't have the files in my dropbox. Anyway, can't you all just 
download/stream the files that you are wanting yourselves?
I would of thought that would of been better because this way, the end-user 
picks what they want to listen too. Also its why I provided the URL so that one 
can explore themselves.
Please don't think anyone that I am brushing you off in a rude way, its just 
that I am thinking logiclly here and if you've come to the same conclusion that 
I have, by providing the tools then as Del boy would say, "You know it makes 
sense." lol

If you buy atbat on your phone you can pair it with your account on the 
computer, but if you buy it on the computer you can't pair it with atbat, and 
you have to buy atbat as well. so you should cancel your subscription on the 
computer, and only buy on the phone then pair it with your computer account.

If you have a Mac you can create and manage groups in the Address book 
application. If you have a Windows based machine and use Microsoft Office you 
can create and manage groups in outlook if you install the ICloud control 
pannel.

Question about ICloud and recovery data

Hello everyone,

My name is Terri, and I just joined this list. I have a question that I hope 
someone can help me with, as I am rather frustrated!

I just recently got an IPhone 4s. I absolutely love it! I had an IPod, but I 
sold it. I didn't think I would use both very much.

When I had my IPod, I backed up my contacts and such to the cloud.

How do I get them onto my IPhone now? I can't figure out how to do it. I know I 
just must be missing some steps.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Gps apps and the iPod Touch 5th Gen?

I'm getting a Bad Elf Bluetooth GPS receiver to work with my iPod 
5th Gen and am wondering which is the best GPS app which will work with 
them? I'd prefer one which uses offline maps.

Re: iBooks selection and accessibility

Most books have readable text, but very few have tagged graphics. The most 
accessible ones I have seen in the iBooks store are winnie the Pooh and Yellow 
Submarine, which have descriptions of the images. The app on the computer 
itself, however, is a bit tricky. I'd go with the iOS version when possible. On 
the computer, there are HTML elements for each chapter, and you have to 
interact with them. When you want to move to the next chapter, the only 
accessible way to do this is to go to the "go" menu and choose "next chapter".

There is a Weather Undergound IOs app. It's not as usable in my opinion as the 
mobile site. I've actually put the bookmark for it on my home screen from the 
add bookmarks utility in IoS. The app can give you forecasts, but you have to 
flick from page to page.

Hi,
Good, I'm glad that helped some.  I prefer portrait orientation for just about 
everything, so I have it locked in portrait mode. There are some apps out there 
which will set orientation automatically when you get into them; the Papa 
Sangre game is one of them which switches automatically to landscape.  So don't 
be alarmed if that happens to you.  Your regular orientation will come back 
when you leave the app.

There's no way to specify what orientation you want, except by turning the 
phone appropriately, in such a way that the phone recognizes the orientation 
change.  Then go into Control Center and lock it.  That's what I did.
