For now, the Eagles app lets you do it also. The Steelers had a button to do
it, but it gives you a message that you are not within 50 miles of either
Pittsburgh or Green Bay, who they were playing today, so therefore we
couldn't get it. However, jwe were able to get that game through the Pro
Football Radio app. I guess with theay things are, it's good to have more
than one tool in your arsenal.

Re: Unable to Login to Bank of America via Safari

Chris, thanks for the warning about the possibility of improper button
tracking. In the Bank of America case, I definitely flicked left and right
to find the "Sign In" button. It may be that the user isn't activating some
buttons regardbless of whether precise touch or f
flicking is being used. One thing is sure: it' a VoiceOver issue.

Re: iPhone for those with no hand movement

2015-08-24 Thread Richard Turner

The Switch controls that would allow someone to use an external device to run
the iPhone can not be used at the same time as VoiceOver.
So, blind people with limited hand movement are out of luck right now.
We just discovered this at my work.
Please, everyone write, or call, Apple Accessibility and point out to them that
there are a lot of blind people who need the ability to use switch controls.

I can tell you from personal experience that the iPod 6 G will

will notice a significant speed bump, but if you're good with taking
pics for OCR on your iPhone 5, you probably already get fairly

and it's a bit like the VarioUltra in the sense that it still needs
some work. Though with the current release of the VarioUltra firmware,
there is more frustration in using a VU as opposed to the Beetle for
me.
The only things I have found to cut back on lag have nothing to do
with the Smart Beetle specifically, but some VoiceOver settings that
you can change. I wrote a guide you can find at:

I would be interested to know what version of the firmware you are using, as we
have had an update recently that his fixed a number of issues. Please let me

Trouble adding songs to a playlist in Apple Music

2015-08-24 Thread Wayne Merritt
All,
As the subject says I am having trouble adding songs to a playlist in
Apple Music. The playlist is for songs on my phone. I have reported
this to Apple Accessibility with no resolution. I created two
playlists on my phone, 1 which has all of my downloaded music and one
which is much smaller and has worship/praise songs. The worship
playlist for a long time had 33 songs and I was not able to add any
songs to it no matter how many times I tried. After iOS 8.4.1 was
released, the worship playlist went up to around 70 songs but I
haven't been able to add any more. I recently deleted a couple of
songs from the list and tried to add one but no matter what I do
nothing is added. All this time, I am told that the songs were added
but then when I back out of the playlist and go back into it, I am
still told that I have 70 songs. To add songs to my playlist, I am
using both of the following methods: searching for the songs in my
collection from the larger playlist, using the actions rodar item to
find more, then selecting add to playlist and choosing the worship
playlist. I am also hitting the edit button within the worship
playlist and choosing the songs from there, and then swiping up/down
in the actions rodar till I hear "add songs to playlist" and double
tapping that.

I am totally confused and frustrated as to why this is not working.
Sometimes I have tried to add between 10 and 15 songs to the worship
list, and even though I am told they were added, the total number
still says 70. Anyone have any ideas? For perspective, my larger
playlist with all of my music has around 1700 songs, so it can't be
the number of songs in the smaller playlist. Using iOS 8.4.1 on an
iPhone 6.

Many thanks in advance,
Wayne Merritt

Latest knfb reader and stand moe with iPhone 5 problems:

2015-08-24 Thread Don Breda

What am I missing?

I tried with an iPhone 5 and and iPhone 5c and a scanjig.

I turned on stand mode and put the phone on the stand. I got the dialog
to confirm and clicked ok.

I was put in a loop and just kept getting the message place phone on the
stand and click ok.

No matter how many times I did this it just kept repeating.

Is this a bug with the latest knfb and the iPhone 5 series?

By the way the 5c was running ios8.4 and the 5 was running ios8.4.1.

Don

2015-08-24 Thread Dan
Hello,
You are having the same problem I'm having. I have reported this to the folks
at KNFB. If you wish, you can do this by opening knfb reader, going to about
and then going to the feedback button to let them know about the problems you
are having.
Hope this helps.

Is anyone successfully using Evernote?

2015-08-24 Thread Kimber Gardner
Hi All,

There is an old review on applevis of the evernote app that says the
app is usable with VO. But when I open the app on my iPhone, I land on
a screen that says "do your best work ever with evernote." That's it.
I don't see any buttons or links or anything to click to start the
app.

Is anyone successfully using this app? If not, is there another more
accessible option that will do the same thing?

Thanks,
Kimber

Re: Is anyone successfully using Evernote?

2015-08-24 Thread Isaac Hebert
That’s probably the intro screen. To get through that kind of screen try to
swipe to a done button and then double tap or swipe left or right with three
fingers to scroll to get to the last page.

Here is the only problem when using the three finger swipe left or right method
to get past the intro screen of evernote after trying this you have to turn off
voiceover then use the three finger swipe left or right method and then turn
voiceover back on.

Re: Latest knfb reader and stand moe with iPhone 5 problems:

2015-08-24 Thread Richard Turner

Have you all turned on batch mode?
Do that first, then select the document stand profile.
See if that helps.
I found that you have to also wait a while and may even have to move the page
to get it to start recognizing text.
The sound is different than when it is set to the automatic profile. It is kind
of a beeping sound, then once it recognizes text, it will announce that and
take the picture.

2015-08-24 Thread Don & Cher
As a temporary work-around, have you tried adding the songs to a playlist in
iTunes on the PC and then just syncing that playlist with your phone? Sometimes
it seems easier than adding individual songs for me.

Subject: [Bulk] Trouble adding songs to a playlist in Apple Music

All,
As the subject says I am having trouble adding songs to a playlist in Apple
Music. The playlist is for songs on my phone. I have reported this to Apple
Accessibility with no resolution. I created two playlists on my phone, 1 which
has all of my downloaded music and one which is much smaller and has
worship/praise songs. The worship playlist for a long time had 33 songs and I
was not able to add any songs to it no matter how many times I tried. After iOS
8.4.1 was released, the worship playlist went up to around 70 songs but I
haven't been able to add any more. I recently deleted a couple of songs from
the list and tried to add one but no matter what I do nothing is added. All
this time, I am told that the songs were added but then when I back out of the
playlist and go back into it, I am still told that I have 70 songs. To add
songs to my playlist, I am using both of the following methods: searching for
the songs in my collection from the larger playlist, using the actions rodar
item to find more, then selecting add to playlist and choosing the worship
playlist. I am also hitting the edit button within the worship playlist and
choosing the songs from there, and then swiping up/down in the actions rodar
till I hear "add songs to playlist" and double tapping that.

I am totally confused and frustrated as to why this is not working.
Sometimes I have tried to add between 10 and 15 songs to the worship list, and
even though I am told they were added, the total number still says 70. Anyone
have any ideas? For perspective, my larger playlist with all of my music has
around 1700 songs, so it can't be the number of songs in the smaller playlist.
Using iOS 8.4.1 on an iPhone 6.

Many thanks in advance,
Wayne Merritt

Hey there,

I also use a ScanJig, and I also use an iPhone 5.
I experienced the same problem the other day. It was a little disparaging
because the demo on AppleVis did seem promising for image capture efficacy.
When trying to calibrate the camera I just kept getting the same error
message you received.

The Switch controls that would allow someone to use an external device to run
the iPhone can not be used at the same time as VoiceOver.
So, blind people with limited hand movement are out of luck right now.
We just discovered this at my work.
Please, everyone write, or call, Apple Accessibility and point out to them that
there are a lot of blind people who need the ability to use switch controls.

ios has a feature called Shortcuts you can use to create

Look for Shortcuts under Settings, General, Keyboard.

Re: Trouble adding songs to a playlist in Apple Music

2015-08-24 Thread Terje Strømberg
It looks like you are doing it the right way. So the music app confirmes that
the songs are added with something like «added to playlist» announcement. Just
for trying something, hit power off and the menu button at the same time, hold
it until the iPhone restarts. It is a soft reset of the iPhone. Nothing
dangerous.

Take care

24. aug. 2015 kl. 18:34 skrev Wayne Merritt :

All,
As the subject says I am having trouble adding songs to a playlist in
Apple Music.

Re: iPhone for those with no hand movement; Follow-up: 627217325

2015-08-24 Thread Richard Turner
This is interesting.
There is no speech setting in the assistive touch settings.
It could be they meant go to the accessibility settings, speech, and turn on
speak selection, and speak screen, and select the voice you want to use for
that.
It could be that if you do that, and have a switch control, it will speak as
you move around, but their directions are rather poor.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. In your initial email, you mentioned Switch Control,
which does have a Speech setting. If you meant to refer to Assistive Touch,
this feature can be used with VoiceOver if they are both enabled. If you could
provide more information about the user’s current configuration and what they
would like to do, we may be able to offer some more specific suggestions.

Sincerely,

Apple Accessibility

This is interesting.
There is no speech setting in the assistive touch settings.
It could be they meant go to the accessibility settings, speech, and turn on
speak selection, and speak screen, and select the voice you want to use for
that.
It could be that if you do that, and have a switch control, it will speak as
you move around, but their directions are rather poor.

Hello,

Thank you for your email. In order to use Switch Control with speech, please go
to Settings > General > Accessibility > Assistive Touch > Speech to turn the
feature on and select which voice to use. More information is available here:

The Switch controls that would allow someone to use an external device to run
the iPhone can not be used at the same time as VoiceOver.
So, blind people with limited hand movement are out of luck right now.
We just discovered this at my work.
Please, everyone write, or call, Apple Accessibility and point out to them that
there are a lot of blind people who need the ability to use switch controls.

RE: Pre-orders open for iOS 9 Without the Eye

2015-08-24 Thread Rose Combs
I do not understand, I have a PayPal account but can’t remember the password,
and there is a CAPTCJHA to get a new one, one I can hear but cannot understand.

So I selected to pay with a VISA card, I enter the number, select the card
type, put in the date of expiration mm/yy, the security code, my name, address,
phone number and then press continue or pay, every time I do either I get the
page back without a card number, without security code, or date of expiration
but all my billing address and phone still present, so then I try to enter the
missing info again, get the page back with card number etc. missing and I can
go round and round multiple time with same results. I have read page from top
to bottom once I have entered or reentered the info and still this keeps
happening.

No one to assist with CAPTCHA in the house, no one but me in the house. I just
cannot not pull it out, even with headphones. Bugs me that I have an account
but they made me try some 20 times to get a password they would accept and I
can’t for the life of me remember what it is!

I do want the book, but at this point, it is or so it seems, impossible to
order.

I know I have had PayPal issues for over a year now, though having a nephew
help me open the account would help, but we neither remember the final
combination of letters, numbers, symbols we tried to get the account. I hate
convoluted passwords. Sorry list for going here one more time. It isn’t lime
anyone can fix this password thing for me but why can’t I pay using my VISA
card?

Hi everyone, I'm very pleased to let you know that pre-orders are now open for
the next edition of the popular iOS Without the Eye series.

Apple’s iOS, the mobile operating system powering iPhone®, iPad® and iPod
Touch®, will experience a significant and exciting revamp with the release of

iOS 9. Despite the fact that Apple has focussed on the stability of the
operating system this time around, there is more that’s new than many people
realise.

That’s allowed me to produce a comprehensive new book on iOS 9 of roughly the
same length as its iOS 8 equivalent.

"iOS 9 Without the Eye” is ready to be released on the same day Apple releases
the operating system.

When you master all of iOS 9’s potential, your iOS device will become an even
more powerful tool. Make the most of what iOS 9 has to offer. Get up and

running quickly and easily with a clearly-written, comprehensive,
well-structured guide to all that’s new in iOS 9.

I need recommendations for Bluetooth printer

2015-08-24 Thread Ann Smith

Sent from my iPhone hello, I would like to become an eBay seller. Whatever
people buy your products, you would need a nice printer to be able to print
their mailing label out and stick on the side of the box or bag or whatever
using to ship the items to them. I'm looking for a printer that is not very
expensive, but is very effective. I'm open to any and all suggestions. Thank you
I'm also looking for a Bluetooth postage scale from Arlease one that talks.

RE: Latest knfb reader and stand moe with iPhone 5 problems:

2015-08-24 Thread Richard Turner
Hi,
The camera should not be looking through that opening in the piece that the
phone is sitting on.
That would explain why you aren't getting any results.

That opening in the phone holder piece is to make it easier to pull it out of
the base.

The camera should be above the plastic.
If you are using an iPhone 5 or 6, the thin platform that snaps into the phone
holder should be in the second set of holes from the top.
That way, the phone camera is about an inch or so above the top of the plastic
piece.
You also want to make sure that the camera is centered left to right.

Otherwise, the angle is going to have the camera pointed where there is little
or no text.

I did a test document where I had a line of text one half inch down from the
top and another line of text a half inch above the bottom of the sheet of paper.
Once I could scan and get both lines of text, I knew I had it set correctly.

HTH,
Richard

RE: I keep getting asked to log into the iTunes store and my password which I know to be correct is not accepted

2015-08-24 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Amy,

If you tried to log in several times unsuccessfully chances are your Apple Id
may be sort of blocked or whatever you call it and you may have to go to
http://AppleID.apple.com and sign in there possibly having to answer security
questions in the process or confirming your account in another way if you
enabled 2-step verification. In any case, I would go to that URL and see if you
can log in with your old password before trying again on your iDevice.

RE: Is anyone successfully using Evernote?

2015-08-24 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I tried to contact Evernote years ago regarding accessibility, but if I
remember correctly I did not receive an encouraging reply and it sounded like
accessibility was not high on their list of priorities. To me something like
Evernote is very attractive, but only if it was perfectly accessible on all
platforms or, in my case, on Windows and iOS.

RE: Pre-orders open for iOS 9 Without the Eye

2015-08-24 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Rose,

Have you considered trying Firefox with Webvisum for solving captchas? I don’t
think I have ever had a captcha it hasn’t solved.

Another option might be for you to install the Be My Eyes app, then when you
are at the screen with the captcha see if you can get somebody on the line in
Be My Eyes who might be able to read the captcha for you.

That’s allowed me to produce a comprehensive new book on iOS 9 of roughly the

"iOS 9 Without the Eye” is ready to be released on the same day Apple releases
the operating system.

When you master all of iOS 9’s potential, your iOS device will become an even
more powerful tool. Make the most of what iOS 9 has to offer. Get up and

RE: Latest knfb reader and stand moe with iPhone 5 problems:

2015-08-24 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi everybody,

I just dug out my Standscan and tried this and had no issues. Granted, I did
not read exactly what Document Stand mode does, but when I went to Profiles and
flicked up to that option I doubled tapped Done and it took me back to the main
screen where I was then able to take a picture. I did at first with Batch Mode
off, then I turned it on and did 5 pages of our local phone book and it worked
fine and KNFB Reader recognized the text with hardly a mistake.
I did actually check the KNFB user guide in the file manager, but it has not
been updated because in the section about Profiles only Automatic and Manual
are mentioned.

Sieghard
