No they do use some cards but they're not the Ones that you can easily take out
of the phone and take your phone to another carrier. Their phones are all
locked their network whether you try to get them unlocked or not.

Re: For Those Who May be in the Market for a New Cell Provider in the USA, Sprint Launches LTE+ Service

2015-11-23 Thread Mike Arrigo
I think eventually, everything will be LTE which will use a sim card,
and CDMA will be phased out, but it will be a while before that
happens. Even with LTE, not all providers use that for voice
communications yet. Once they do, voice calls will be similar to using
skype or other voip services.

Original message:

I think with Sprint and Verizon, it's kind of both. You have the sim for
data on LTE, but yet you have CDMA for the voice part or for areas that have
no LTE available. I think the phones can be more easily switched though as
they have to unlock if you aren't under contract or on an installment plan.

I wonder if this service uses a sim ccard or if the serial number for the
account is stored in the phone itself. I would never want a service that
does not use a sim card as it does not allow you to easily switch phones on
the fly.
Original message:

Hello Everyone,

Sprint announced it is launching it's new LTE + 3 band LTE service in 77
markets in the USA. This also comes with an offer to cut T-Mobile, AT
and
Verizon plan costs in half.

The following is the text to the article the link to which is located at
the
end of the piece.

Enjoy,

Mark

print today launched its LTE Plus network, which is available today in 77
major markets in the U.S. To celebrate, the carrier is announcing what
its
calling "the biggest wireless offer in U.S. history", offering 50 percent
off of T-Mobile, Verizon and AT rate plans. The offer runs from
November
20 to January 7, 2016 and the pricing remains in place until January 8,
2018.

"We've made tremendous strides with our network because we know consumers
want wireless service that provides consistent speed and reliability,"
said
Marcelo Claure, Sprint CEO. "We are so confident that customers will have
an
amazing experience that we are encouraging them to give us a try with the
biggest wireless offer in the history of our industry. Customers
switching
to Sprint will never need to look elsewhere. They will learn what our 58
million customers already know - Sprint offers the best value and an
award-winning network."

T-Mobile, Verizon and AT customers who want to switch to the network
will
get Sprint plans that mirror their old plans, only for half the price.
For
example, a T-Mobile customer with four lines and 10 GB of data per line
pays
$180 per month at T-Mobile, but will only pay $90 at Sprint. An AT
family
who pays $100 for 15 GB data will get the same thing at Sprint for $50.
Verizon customers paying $80 for 12 GB will get the same for $40. Verizon
and AT customers will also get 50 percent off access fees.

The discounts are only available to consumer plans for Verizon's 1 GB, 3
GB,
6 GB, 12 GB, 18 GB, 20 GB and 25 GB shared data plans, T-Mobile's Simple
Choice 2 GB, 6 GB and 10 GB plans and AT's 300 MB, 2 GB, 5 GB, 15 GB,
20
GB and 25 GB shared data plans. Specific carrier features like unlimited
music and video, data rollover and cloud options do not carryover to
Sprint.

Customers switching over to Sprint can also take advantage of iPhone
Forever, Sprint's plan that allows customers to upgrade to a new iPhone
every year. It's also a "worry-free" offer, with customers having 28 days
to
try out Sprint's service. If they're not happy, they can return it
without
incurring a restocking fee. Sprint will also pay any switching fees up to
$650 per line with an American Express Reward Card after online
registration
and phone turn-in.

Sprint says its new LTE Plus network is faster than Verizon's and AT's
networks, citing Nielsen Mobile Performance data. NMP uses crowdsourced
data
from Android users in 44 of the largest markets in the U.S., and it found
that in 20 of the 44 markets, users downloading files over 5 MB did it
fastest on Sprint. The carrier says the new network can reach up to 100
Mbps, includes stronger service with an extended 2.5 GHz signal and more
reliable service with three bands of spectrum: 1.9 GHz for broad
coverage,
800 MHz for indoor coverage and 2.5 GHz for faster speeds.

Current Sprint customers will get a free tablet with one year of free
service while supplies last. Sprint says this offer is a $360 value.

Re: "Light Probe" App

2015-11-23 Thread 'Sandratomkins' via VIPhone
hi,
Does anyone else think that we need a revamp of the light probe app? for me,
for example, it works in general terms, that is, I get a sound indication if
there is a light or if there is no light. but, in these days, with all our
different devices/charges/indicators, including flashing LEDs, we need
something more specific. I need a clever light detector app! are there any
developers out there who might work on this?

just my thoughts, Sandy

Hi,

You might be able to do it with Light Detector, but I'm not sure. That app
doesn't cost much, though; I think it's $.99, so it might be worth a try.
There are lights on my washing machine that are roughly half an inch apart,

Re: Problem with Uber

2015-11-23 Thread Colin McDonald

Hey Eric:
In the Uber app there is a "help" button...you use the help button to access
the comments/complaints section of the app. Uber is very quick to resolve
any issues, and a real person will email you very quickly with a
satisfactory resolution to your problem...usually a refund of the entire
fair.

I have used it a couple times to great success.
The best way to deal with it is before you even rate the driver, you comment
and go into the help area...use several of the categories to write your
comments...but you can access older trips in the app and open up the
comment/help areas from a previous trip so you don't have to explain what
trip it might have been...when they get the comments/complaints it'll
reference that trip and driver and give them all the info they need.

Emailing them directly doesn't give detailed info on the trip in question.
The uber app is extremely accessible so one doesn't need to mess around with
the inaccessible website lol.

Hope this helps.

COlin

When I follow the link in the E-mail with the trip information, after I sign

name. It is not where you put your question. I cannot figure out what it is
for. Have tried on the iPhone and Windows using JAWS and NVDA.

Anyone familiar with their site and know what I am missing!

All thanks.

Re: Whole Lot of Shakin' not going on!

2015-11-23 Thread Alex Stone
I must admit i haven't noticed, I sometimes play sixth sense and Audio
defence, but obviously not enough to notice this. All I would say though
is, is this a problem with the games in question or the ios, I don't
think either game has been updated since the latest ios update, in fact
Sixth Sense hasn't been updated for a very long time as far as I'm aware.

On 23/11/2015 23:30, Barry Abbott wrote:

Hi all. I'm wondering if any of you have been having issues when shaking your
iPhones with iOS 9.1.
In a number of games, Audio Defender, Sixth Sense and other apps the shake
feature does not work. Also when I am told to stand and turn in a circle by
audio defender nothing changes - the voice just stays where it is located in my
headset when I start.

I took my iPhone 6 to the Apple Store and they are telling me that nothing is
wrong with the sensors.

For example, when the Sixth sense tutorial tells me to shake the phone to
launch a grenade at an oncoming animal nothing happens

Nor does it work in Blind Square either.

I have the shake feature turned on in Blind Square. I've never found a place to
turn it on or off in the settings. It has to be a hardware issue. One day I was
hanging my jacket on the back of a chair and the iPhone took quite a whack
striking a wall close to the chair. I explained this when at the Apple store. I
also have Apple Care so I am covered in case of accident. I can't understand
how the diagnostics would show that the sensors are all fine. I asked the
technician to test the shake feature and he says it works find.

any ideas or suggestions before I tackle the Apple Store again?

Thanking you all in advance.

Barry

SixthSense was Whole Lot of Shakin' not going on!

2015-11-23 Thread Lisa Belville
I'm not sure about the shaking not working for iOS 9 as I'm still using 8.13
until some of the blutooth bugs are worked out. But you can use your
weapons on the animals as if they were zombies. it actually works better
for me because you can't shoot while you're shaking the phone, at least I
can't, and unless you've leveled up to where it takes multiple shots to kill
every zombie, you can usually hit the animals with a little practice and
good reflexes.

Hi all. I'm wondering if any of you have been having issues when shaking
your iPhones with iOS 9.1.
In a number of games, Audio Defender, Sixth Sense and other apps the shake
feature does not work. Also when I am told to stand and turn in a circle by
audio defender nothing changes - the voice just stays where it is located in
my headset when I start.

I took my iPhone 6 to the Apple Store and they are telling me that nothing
is wrong with the sensors.

For example, when the Sixth sense tutorial tells me to shake the phone to
launch a grenade at an oncoming animal nothing happens

Nor does it work in Blind Square either.

I have the shake feature turned on in Blind Square. I've never found a place
to turn it on or off in the settings. It has to be a hardware issue. One day
I was hanging my jacket on the back of a chair and the iPhone took quite a
whack striking a wall close to the chair. I explained this when at the Apple
store. I also have Apple Care so I am covered in case of accident. I can't
understand how the diagnostics would show that the sensors are all fine. I
asked the technician to test the shake feature and he says it works find.

any ideas or suggestions before I tackle the Apple Store again?

Thanking you all in advance.

I finally got it to download last night. I kept having the same problems as
you, so I just stayed in the app store, and kept hitting download. Eventually,
it started coming down, but very, very slowly. I stayed in the app store the
entire time, leaving my focus on the download button, so I could track progress
of the download. I don't know if staying in the app store actually helped, but
I'm glad I finally got the game downloaded.

Thanks,

Re: Problem with Uber

2015-11-23 Thread Brent Harding
Emailing is probably the best way. I don't think Uber has a lot of control on
making their support section accessible, as from the address bar, it goes to
Zendesk, and that company probably has to fix its accessibility issues. The big
issue, at least with iOS and JFW on that type of site is that most of the combo
boxes are text that aren't properly classed as combo boxes so on iOS, there
will be no popup button, and on Windows, alt-down arrow won't open it.

Re: "Light Probe" App

2015-11-23 Thread John Diakogeorgiou
Brian with technology what it is, you can either facetime, skype, or
even text a picture to the tech so they can see the color for you. I
went through this with a Verizon tech a few weeks ago. It was one of
those aha moments for me when he asked if I could text him a picture
of the lights. I should have thought of that a long time ago. Another
suggestion would be an app like Be My Eyes.

Hi Larry,

iTunes doesn't change your files unless you tell it to. If a file is matched,
it means the track exists in the iTunes library. To get the version from the
library, delete the track from your library but not from iCloud, then choose
the context key and choose Download from the context menu.

Re: "Light Probe" App

2015-11-23 Thread Lisa Belville
Hmm, I use the light probe app every day and it does indicate varying
strengths of light and locations by using a different pitch. You can also
tap the screen anywhere while the app is running and it will tell you what
percentage of light it's detecting. Zero through 10% is the lowest pitch
and it gets higher as more light is detected even while the phone is being
moved around. As long as the back facing camera is clear, it will indicate
light sources if they're present and you can use the rising and falling
pitch to zero in on the source.
I understand the issue with small LEDs, though. It's not always easy to get
the back facing camera to line up with the suspected light source.

I have this same issue with an old model Colorino. The opening that detects
light is really too big to see single smaller LEDs accurately it makes the
same beeping sound no matter how close/far it is from the light source, so I
don't even know how strong/bright the light is.

Re: problem with apps

2015-11-23 Thread Paul Richard McGann
I suggest for yo to contact apple accessbility.

I doubt about having the setting doing about it. there are apps that are
braille friendly and I notice some other apps being unfriendly.. and some other
apps are not made for braille users, as they could be audiable. applevis would
tell you about which apps are friendly.

I do call apple care and ask someone to check about app being friendly or not
and soeone runs over to go through before coming back to tell me.

Subject: problem with apps

Since I have updated to 9.1 on my 5C, I am having focus issues with my apps,
some worse than others.

The screen is not reading for some apps and other apps switch from screen to
screen without any prompting from me.

Is there a setting in the new ios that I need to change to correct this focus
problem?

Thanks.

Anna, I have 8100 songs in this play list and a few of them must be pointing to
invalid locations and itunes match won’t upload the play list. Do you have any

Hi Larry,

You can probably create a smart playlist of tracks that are in that playlist
but not in iCloud.

Hi,

YOu're basically right, except that you don't need an iPad. You simply delete
the tracks, then select the tracks, press the context key, and choose Download.
iTunes will then download the songs from the iTunes store.

Re: For Those Who May be in the Market for a New Cell Provider in the USA, Sprint Launches LTE+ Service

2015-11-23 Thread Brent Harding
I think with Sprint and Verizon, it's kind of both. You have the sim for
data on LTE, but yet you have CDMA for the voice part or for areas that have
no LTE available. I think the phones can be more easily switched though as
they have to unlock if you aren't under contract or on an installment plan.

Subject: Re: For Those Who May be in the Market for a New Cell Provider in
the USA, Sprint Launches LTE+ Service

RE: Importance of IMessages nowadays?

2015-11-23 Thread Rose Combs
I'd prefer regular messenger app, but many use Facebook messenger so I have it.
It is just getting to it in a timely fashion,. I could move it to the home
page I suppose but after I had all my apps in folders in early 2014 and my
nephew feeling he was being helpful did a reset I have not felt with taking
hours to fix the issue.

I have the time but not the patience!

With Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger and other services, do you still use

Any ideas, or should I not worry and just leave it with my EMail as it is?

As I said, check out the Smart Playlist options for tracks ineligible to be in

My rechargeable battery has four little lights to indicate charge level.

Is there any app I could tell if those are lighted? I would have to move the
lens along the row of lights to count how many are on. These are fairly
close together, usually. (I actually cannot feel these lights, but on all
other batteries they have been about 1/4 inch apart.)

Thanks!

Re: For Those Who May be in the Market for a New Cell Provider in the USA, Sprint Launches LTE+ Service

2015-11-23 Thread Mike Arrigo
I wonder if this service uses a sim ccard or if the serial number for
the account is stored in the phone itself. I would never want a service
that does not use a sim card as it does not allow you to easily switch
phones on the fly.

Original message:

Hello Everyone,

Sprint announced it is launching it's new LTE + 3 band LTE service in 77
markets in the USA. This also comes with an offer to cut T-Mobile, AT and
Verizon plan costs in half.

The following is the text to the article the link to which is located at the
end of the piece.

Enjoy,

Mark

print today launched its LTE Plus network, which is available today in 77
major markets in the U.S. To celebrate, the carrier is announcing what its
calling "the biggest wireless offer in U.S. history", offering 50 percent
off of T-Mobile, Verizon and AT rate plans. The offer runs from November
20 to January 7, 2016 and the pricing remains in place until January 8,
2018.

"We've made tremendous strides with our network because we know consumers
want wireless service that provides consistent speed and reliability," said
Marcelo Claure, Sprint CEO. "We are so confident that customers will have an
amazing experience that we are encouraging them to give us a try with the
biggest wireless offer in the history of our industry. Customers switching
to Sprint will never need to look elsewhere. They will learn what our 58
million customers already know - Sprint offers the best value and an
award-winning network."

T-Mobile, Verizon and AT customers who want to switch to the network will
get Sprint plans that mirror their old plans, only for half the price. For
example, a T-Mobile customer with four lines and 10 GB of data per line pays
$180 per month at T-Mobile, but will only pay $90 at Sprint. An AT family
who pays $100 for 15 GB data will get the same thing at Sprint for $50.
Verizon customers paying $80 for 12 GB will get the same for $40. Verizon
and AT customers will also get 50 percent off access fees.

The discounts are only available to consumer plans for Verizon's 1 GB, 3 GB,
6 GB, 12 GB, 18 GB, 20 GB and 25 GB shared data plans, T-Mobile's Simple
Choice 2 GB, 6 GB and 10 GB plans and AT's 300 MB, 2 GB, 5 GB, 15 GB, 20
GB and 25 GB shared data plans. Specific carrier features like unlimited
music and video, data rollover and cloud options do not carryover to Sprint.

Customers switching over to Sprint can also take advantage of iPhone
Forever, Sprint's plan that allows customers to upgrade to a new iPhone
every year. It's also a "worry-free" offer, with customers having 28 days to
try out Sprint's service. If they're not happy, they can return it without
incurring a restocking fee. Sprint will also pay any switching fees up to
$650 per line with an American Express Reward Card after online registration
and phone turn-in.

Sprint says its new LTE Plus network is faster than Verizon's and AT's
networks, citing Nielsen Mobile Performance data. NMP uses crowdsourced data
from Android users in 44 of the largest markets in the U.S., and it found
that in 20 of the 44 markets, users downloading files over 5 MB did it
fastest on Sprint. The carrier says the new network can reach up to 100
Mbps, includes stronger service with an extended 2.5 GHz signal and more
reliable service with three bands of spectrum: 1.9 GHz for broad coverage,
800 MHz for indoor coverage and 2.5 GHz for faster speeds.

Current Sprint customers will get a free tablet with one year of free
service while supplies last. Sprint says this offer is a $360 value.

The opening that detects
light is really too big to see single smaller LEDs accurately it makes the
same beeping sound no matter how close/far it is from the light source, so I
don't even know how strong/bright the light is.

hi,
Does anyone else think that we need a revamp of the light probe app? for me,
for example, it works in general terms, that is, I get a sound indication if
there is a light or if there is no light. but, in these days, with all our
different devices/charges/indicators, including flashing LEDs, we need
something more specific. I need a clever light detector app! are there any
developers out there who might work on this?

just my thoughts, Sandy

Yes, please do. At least if they develop it we know everything will be
accessible out of the box.

I'm a beta tester for Blindfold games, I can suggest it to Marty if people

Re: "Light Probe" App

2015-11-23 Thread Lisa Belville
No, and I don't know of any light detector that tells you the color of a
light. With mine it's hard enough to tell which one is blinking, let alone
the color.

Yea but does it say red or green, probably not.
To diagnose modem issues, the csr wants to know what color your lights
are.

As long as the back facing camera is clear, it will
indicate

light sources if they're present and you can use the rising and falling
pitch to zero in on the source.
I understand the issue with small LEDs, though. It's not always easy to
get

the back facing camera to line up with the suspected light source.

I have this same issue with an old model Colorino. The opening that
detects

light is really too big to see single smaller LEDs accurately it makes the
same beeping sound no matter how close/far it is from the light source, so
I

don't even know how strong/bright the light is.

hi,
Does anyone else think that we need a revamp of the light probe app? for
me,
for example, it works in general terms, that is, I get a sound indication
if

there is a light or if there is no light. but, in these days, with all our
different devices/charges/indicators, including flashing LEDs, we need
something more specific. I need a clever light detector app! are there any
developers out there who might work on this?

just my thoughts, Sandy

Hi,

You might be able to do it with Light Detector, but I'm not sure. That

doesn't cost much, though; I think it's $.99, so it might be worth a try.
There are lights on my washing machine that are roughly half an inch
apart, and if I hold my phone close, I can tell which one is on.

Best,

My rechargeable battery has four little lights to indicate charge level.

Is there any app I could tell if those are lighted? I would have to move

close together, usually. (I actually cannot feel these lights, but on
all

other batteries they have been about 1/4 inch apart.)

Thanks!

motion x GPS drive discontinued

2015-11-23 Thread Mike Arrigo
Hey everyone. I have some sad news, from what I can tell, the Motion x
GPS Drive app is no longer available. It no longer shows up in the app
store. This is kind of sad, it was one of the best main stream GPS apps
in my opinion, and actually provided fairly decent walking directions.
It was one of the top rated GPS apps, wonder why they discontinued it,
but that's what has happened.
