this such that each phone will ring only when a call comes in for that

This is totally weird! I can tap on the correct ship to this address button
with VO off, but when I try tapping on it with VO on, nothing happens. This
didn't used to be this way. Maybe updating to the latest version of iOS 9 might
help. I'm currently on version 9.3.1 (13E238).

What kind of notifications are you talking about? If you're talking

Re: Apps for keeping up with sports scores

2016-08-09 Thread Chris Chaffin
Hello,
I also use Sport scores and alerts, and I will say that after you set it up
with your favorite teams and the type of alerts, there is nothing else you will
have to open the app for.
One thing I like about it is that it allows you to customize what type of
alerts you get for each of your favorite teams.
For example, for each NFL team, you can have the following alerts:
Team News.
Game Started.
Game Complete.
End of Quarter.
Score Change.
Leed Change.
Close Game.
Red Zone.
Score Updates every 5 Minutes.

Of coarse, you do not have to have all of these types alerts turned on. You
only turn on the types of alerts you want.

If you need any help with the app, let me know.

Hope this helps,

Chris
But having all of these different types of alerts available helps you keep
really good track of the game in case you are out and can not watch the game.

RE: Apps for keeping up with sports scores

2016-08-09 Thread Alan Lemly
Wayne,

I like Sports Scores and Alerts by Luno Software. I think I paid something at
one time to get rid of some ads perhaps but it's listed as free under the
iTunes US Apps Store. It does a very good job of notifications of the teams
you've selected although like all apps that have many features, it had a bit of
a learning curve. The developer has always been responsive to emails I've sent
about accessibility issues and I've not noticed any of late.

Subject: Apps for keeping up with sports scores

Greetings all. It seems like this topic comes up each fall. I'm looking for an
app to send me notifications of sports game scores, like for my favorite
football teams. I have been using Yahoo Sports for the last year or two. It
worked great for awhile and I got the notifications. However, earlier today
when I went to look when some upcoming games were scheduled, there were several
unlabeled buttons and other items on the screen. I realize that we are in
preseason for the NFL, but I still would have thought that there would be a
list of this weekend's preseason games. My wants are easy: free and easy to
navigate; can send game/score notifications; and can let me set an unlimited
number of favorite teams. I don't mind if there is a cap on the favorite teams,
just so long as that cap is not 1 or 2 teams. I would also want a way to see a
list of coming games and past games with scores, so even if a team is not in
my favorites, I could still find it.

Thanks in advance,
Wayne Merritt

RE: playing amazon music library

2016-08-09 Thread Alan Lemly
1. Start the Amazon Music app.
2. Execute the menu button in the top left corner of the screen.
3. Swipe through the vertical menu choices until you hear Your Library and then
double tap.
4. A horizontal icon menu bar will be at the top of the screen just below the
menu button and swipe until focus is on songs and then double tap.
5. A Shuffle button will be just below the icon menu bar and you can double tap
it to begin playing your library songs shuffled.

facebook and sounds

2016-08-09 Thread Gordon
I'm not getting sounds when someone replies to a status, however I am
getting notifications in the notifications area. I went to sounds and
set a sound for facebook posts. And sounds are turned on under
notifications. Is this a glitch or is there something else I need to check?

This is by design. The way around this is to turn notifications off from one of

How to Start a New Note in IOS9

2016-08-09 Thread Dani Pagador
Hi, Everyone.
The last time I used the Notes app was when I had IOS6. There was the
abiity to double-tap New to begin a new note, the same way you could
tap double-tap Add in the Calendar app to start a new event.

9 looks totally different. I can see the previous notes. But I can't
work out how to open up a new note, since there doesn't seem to be a
New or Add option. Ideas?

Thanks,
Dani

Re: number of apps on an iPhone?

2016-08-09 Thread Wayne Merritt
I use a method similar to what Sieghard described, but I use the
Braille screen Input. The concepts are similar though since I write a
letter, delete it, and am then told how many apps I have on my phone.
I've never thought to look in About in Settings, and did not realize
that that way leaves out stock apps. Interesting. Whether one uses
handwriting or Braille Screen Input you can open any app on your
phone, in or out of a folder, from any home screen. Pretty slick.

No idea. It sounds like it is in properly coded. Landmarks are not, by

RE: HELP!!! Syncing, how, why and when?

2016-08-09 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I’m no expert on gmail and maybe others can help, but one thing I can tell you
is that your iCloud storage and backing up to iCloud has nothing to do with
your gmail account. Your gmail email is stored on Google’s gmail servers and
will not be backed up to iCloud. You should log in to gmail using a web browser
and check to see if your folders which in gmail is not actually the correct
term, they are just labels which appear as folders, are still there. You may
simply not see these emails you are talking about because only a certain number
of email is synced to your iPhone or iPad.
If this works the same with gmail accounts, you can go to Settings > Mail
Contacts Calendars, double tap on your gmail account and take a look to see if
there is a button that says “Mmail days to ssync”. This may be set to something
like Unlimited, 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks or 1 month. I have this setting
for my Outlook account and it basically tells the Mail app to only sync mail
from whatever time frame is set. If you have it sett o 1 week then older mail
will not be synced any more, you can set this to “Unlimited” if you want to
sync all your mail.

I do, by the way, doubt her internet provider would wipe her iPad, that would
be very bad and illegal.

Good luck,
Sieghard

I need a quick course on syncing. Let me see if I can make this as succint as
possible.

A friend has an iPhone and an iPad. On the iPad she saved emails and audio
memos for a number of things. At first when she added anything to her iPad it
would immediately show in her phone or visa versa. In iCloud what she wants to
sync are selected on each device. Two days ago she suddenly lost email in
folders from gmail and yahoo but only some, not all she had saved. She also
lost audio memos on iPad but not phone. How does she sync phone with iPad so
they are on both devices? She thinks her internet provider wiped her iPad while
she was in hospital. I think it has something to do with syncing, but I don't
understand syncing or how or when to sync, and she thinks I am expert with
mobile devices, which definitely I am not. HELP! For my information and to
help a friend relax, can someone give me a crash course quickly? Oh, I also had
a folder to save a few emails. I lost them completely about 6 weeks ago from a
gmail folder I made. They are just gone, however. My friend is paying for
increased memory on iCloud. I know she has plenty of memory there. I only have
the 5 gigs they give but have 64 gigs on the phone. My head is spinning!
(smiley) Thanks a bunch for rescuing me!

RE: number of apps on an iPhone?

2016-08-09 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi again,

There is another trick which let’s you find out. You have to have handwriting
added to your rotor for this to work.
This method also includes stock apps which, as I said, are not included in the
number of apps under Settings > General > About. Here is what you do:

1. On any home screen, turn the rotor to handwriting

2. Write a single letter (it doesn’t matter, as long as it is one that
has apps which start with that letter. I usually do an “S” or a “C” since it’s
easy to draw.
Voiceover will tell you how many apps it found. For example, if I draw a “C”,
Voiceover says “9 apps, CBC News” which means it found 9 apps that start with
“C” and CBC News is the first in the list.

3. Now do a 2-finger swipe from right to left, that is the gesture for
“Delete” and you would normally use it if let’s say you wanted to draw a “V”
and it turned out to recognize it as a “U” because maybe you made the bottom
too round and you want to delete what you wrote.

4. As soon as you do this gesture and basically delete the single letter
you wrote Voiceover will announce the total number of apps on your phone, in my
case if I delete the C I wrote Voiceover will say “94 apps”.
In comparison, if I go to Settings > General > About and look up the number of
apps I have it tells me there are 66, in other words I now know that I
installed 66 apps and that I have apparently 28 stock apps on my phone.

Best regards,
Sieghard

Are you talking about the search box for finding products using the Amazon app?
If so, I can always find that, and it's completely accessible with VoiceOver.
When you flick to it or tap on it, VoiceOver says, "what are you looking for?

2016-08-09 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
That is how I ordered my Anker external battery yesterday, I added it to the
cart, then checked out and I was able to select a different shipping address,
edit my own and select it again (since I had changed it to a friend's address I
had listed to try it). Maybe the only difference I can think of is that I am
running iOS 10 Beta although quite a few others said they can change the
shipping address and I'm sure not everybody is running the iOS 10 public beta.

Lois, what happens if you add the item to your cart first, then view your cart,
then hit the proceed to checkout button, then double tap on your name as you
are reviewing the order, then tap on another shipping address and then double
tap to select that new address? Are you then still able to find the ship to
this address button? I'm now using iOS 9.3.4 and still can't find that button
in this specific situation. Now, this of course, assumes that you have other
addresses besides yours saved in your addressbook from having shipped to them
in the past.

Re: Bluetooth keyboard and my phone

2016-08-09 Thread Anthony Vece
Hi Louise & List;

I am experiencing the same issue with all my Bluetooth devices on my iPhone
(SE).

The devices are not connecting automatically.

You need to go to my devices under Bluetooth double tap the device you want and
it will connect.

Hope this helps

RE: using the compass

2016-08-09 Thread Richard Turner
Hi,
If you point the end of the phone with the power button the way you are facing
and it says 180 degrees south, you are facing south, so you know to go north
you have to turn around.
The compass merely reports your current direction.

Hi All,

I’m looking for a recommendation for one of the USB drives which comes with a
lightning connector and app designed to be accessible on an Iphone and standard
USB.

The previous messages I’ve found on this group mentioned a brand/model named
Ibridge, but said it wasn’t entirely accessible, but it would be soon.

Can anyone say if it is accessible now, or if there is a brand/model which is
accessible?

Thanks.

Vancouver to whom I shipped something before because I happened to be there and
it was faster to get it there. I double tapped on the line that showed his
name/address and Voiceover spoke it and said “checked”, then after I did that I
had a “Ship to this address” button as well as an “Edit” button right
underneath, I double tapped it and it immediately went on to the next step
where I could choose from Free Shipping or Standard Shipping.

At that point I tapped the “Back” button since I didn’t want to ship this
to him, I double tapped on the line that showed my name and address and it
again said “checked”, then I had the “Ship to this address” button on the next
swipe right, I double tapped it and I got a message that the item could not be
shipped to the address. I had both a street address and PO Box address in Line
1 and Line 2 respectively and I assumed that maybe this was going to be shipped
by courier and then of course they can’t ship to PO Boxes. I tapped OK to get
rid of the message, then I was able to tap Edit and I removed the PO Box
address from Line 2 of the address, then I tapped again n “Ship to this
address” and now it went on to the next step. I was then actually asked for my
billing address and to verify my credit card which it was explained was done
when you enter a new address or edit an existing address. I did all that and
was able to place my order without any problems.

I don’t want to say you guys are doing something wrong, but since most of

Re: amazon app, major bug

2016-08-09 Thread Vicky Collins
Lois, what happens if you add the item to your cart first, then view your cart,
then hit the proceed to checkout button, then double tap on your name as you
are reviewing the order, then tap on another shipping address and then double
tap to select that new address? Are you then still able to find the ship to
this address button? I'm now using iOS 9.3.4 and still can't find that button
in this specific situation. Now, this of course, assumes that you have other
addresses besides yours saved in your addressbook from having shipped to them
in the past.

My husband's Odacon hearing aids connect to the iPhone via a streamer via blue
tooth. With IOS 8 it worked flawlessly. When we got our new phones with IOS
9, the streamer began picking up random bits of information every minute or
so--like the last audio movie he listened to, or the last mp3 he played. I
can't find a setting to change that might correct the problem. Can anyone
suggest what to try--or, better yet, what would *actually work???

Thanks,
