Two factor authentication Apple
So I am curious about 2 factor authentication. I have both an iPhone and iPad, and considering turning this feature on. Question being let’s say I were to upgrade my iPhone to a newer model how would I receive the code to verify my identity to activate my device? Let’s say I take my iPhone 6 to an AT&T store ( iPad also a trusted device) and want to upgrade to an iPhone eight, and have this feature turned on. How exactly will the code be sent to my new iPhone? If the number is the same? Or do you receive the code on your old device and then just enter it manually on your new one? -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list. Apple Introduces Cheapest iPad Yet, Special Edition Red iPhone - Bloomberg
May be of interest to those seeking a red iPhone 7/7+ https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-03-21/apple-introduces-cheapest-ipad-yet-special-edition-red-iphone Apple Introduces Cheapest iPad Yet, Special Edition Red iPhone More stories by Alex Webb Apple Inc. introduced a revamped version of its most popular-sized iPad at the cheapest price yet, and a shiny red iPhone 7, whose sales will help to combat AIDS. Apple unveiled a new 9.7-inch iPad with a brighter Retina display starting at $329, and a special edition red-aluminum finish iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, part of the company’s decade-long partnership with (RED), which contributes to the Global Fund to fight HIV and AIDS. “Since we began working with (RED) 10 years ago, our customers have made a significant impact in fighting the spread of AIDS through the purchase of our products, from the original iPod nano (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition all the way to today’s lineup of Beats products and accessories for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch,” Apple Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook said in a statement Tuesday. Apple is the world’s largest corporate donor to the Global Fund, contributing more than $130 million, the company said. Apple is expected to reveal a significant upgrade to the iPhone later this year. Cupertino, California-based Apple last year unveiled a new iPhone which reignited sales growth in the Christmas quarter after a year of declines. Those falling sales came even as Apple introduced a cheaper handset in March in an effort to spur growth in emerging markets. The only sales growth in the 2016 fiscal year came from the services business, which includes Apple Music and the App Store, and the other products category. Apple shares rose less than one percent to $142.55 at 10:24 a.m. in New York. Earlier they hit a new intraday high of $142.80. The new iPad starts at $329 for 32GB with Wi-Fi and $459 for 32GB Wi-Fi plus cellular. It will be available to order starting March 24 in the U.S. and more than 20 other countries and regions. The iPhone (RED) models will be available in 128GB and 256GB models starting at $749 from March 24. Apple also announced new storage capacity for the iPhone SE. That 4-inch display model will now be available in 32GB and 128GB models, doubling the current capacity and replacing the previous models. Other product launches Tuesday include a new app called Clips, that helps people combine video clips, photos and music that can be shared through social media and messages. Apple also said its Swift Playgrounds iPad app, which helps students learn to code, is available in five additional languages: Japanese, French, German, Spanish and simplified Chinese. Questions about Uber
hello group, So, I installed the Uber application onto my iPhone 6 I am using voice over and everything went fine to set it up. My question is I see that you can add gift cards as a form of payment for rides is that correct? If possible I would rather like to use that instead of a credit and or debit card. Has anyone encountered issues with the Uber application using voiceover and if so what are they? I have not used Uber as of yet as I have been using para transit to get around but may consider it that's why am asking. Iphone 6 unexpected shutdown
Hello group, i have an Iphone 6 64GB purchased in July 2015. Noticed that the phone will randomly shut off sometimes with 11%, 5% 3% battery power remaining. Looked on line at apple's page and my device is not eligible for a battery replacement. Erased all content and settings/ restored the Iphone through Itunes (as new and re-installed the software 10.2.1.) Went to apple store in North ridge a few weeks ago the employee that helped me ran a battery diagnostic showed me that it passed. The girl said it could be hardware related.. I make sure to charge the phone to 100% as often as possible. What are everyone's thoughts? has anyone else experienced this? my plan since i still have apple care is to replace my 6 with a new Iphone 6 directly from Apple. iCloud help
So I deleted a backup on my iPhone on the 15th of January . Went ahead and tried to make a backup using iCloud's and got the following two errors: 1. iCloud backup failed, there was a problem Enabling iCloud 2. When I finally am able to enable it and try to create a backup it says the backup cannot be completed. I've reset network settings, signed in/out of iCloud, deleted previous iCloud backups, set the iPhone up as new doing a restore on iTunes. Made a backup using iTunes. Called apple care And they just said I had to wait and see if iCloud would allow me to backup again as I've done everything they'd normally recommend. I downloaded the new update 9.2.1 and then set up The phone as new and still nothing . Ideas? RE: iPhone 4s screen unresponsive ?
Will do but here are 3 questions: 1. If it's q software issue and I restore using iTunes wont I just be re-installing the software and the same issue will arise ? 2. Do these issues ever actually get fixed or is this apple's scheme of having customers buy a new phone? Accessibility ios 7
Dear list I have found out from Apple accessibility that they cannot reproduce the issue I am having mail and they are not certain when this will be fixed, in addition I guess voiceover does have some issues with focusing but again they are not sure when this issue will be solved. am I missing something here ? yes, I do understand that iOS is riddled with bugs when the newest version comes out but this is ridiculous. what exactly then does the Apple accessibility team? do they solve accessibility issues but lately it seems like with every iOS update there is an issue and iOS does not work is the same as before. Doesn't seem like iOS 7 is very stable and it does not seem like voiceover works well with Understand, that Apple accessibility cannot fix everything but I myself am quite disappointed with the "accessibility" but Apple says they have with their eye devices. If Apple had left certain formats alone example the calendar then voice over would work very well with all the native apps but since they like to change the format and change the way things are and obviously voiceovers not gonna work as it did before with the changes that have happened in iOS 7 -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group. A few questions for those with iOS 7 One when using voice over in the mail app and double tapping on the to field if you type a letter in the to field you are presented with the most recently contacted individuals that begin with that letter. Question is: how does one get to the next contact that begins with that letter for example, if I am typing the letter A and the first contact name is Alex and you want to get to the next contact that begins with the letter A how do you do it with voiceover using ios 7? Two what are containers? 3. Why is it that you have to set up Gmail as an exchange account in order to be able to delete emails, if you set it up using Gmail itself in the mail app you're forced to archived them and then delete them why is this? Four. Am I to understand now that voice over will not repeat what Siri says, is this a new feature? 5 any ideas, as to how to improve battery life with iOS 7 -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group. Gmail and iOS 7 on iPhone 4S
Dear list Have a question regarding Gmail, I set up Gmail on my iPhone 4S running iOS 7. The only thing I cannot figure out is is there a way to delete email messages like before with iOS 6 where you could turn the archive option off (in settings , mail) and the message would just be deleted when you pressed the delete button? If so I am not finding that option. the only option I find is to archive the message Anyone's assistance would be greatly appreciated Thank you Marissa -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group. ios 7 questions?
hello list! its been quite sometime since i have been on here:) i downloaded ios7 today for both iphone 4s & Iphone 4 that was extremely frustrating as the amount of people downlaoding this software impacted how long it took for me to install it, never the less i am happy with ios 7 but a few questions: 1. how do you open / close the notification center from the lock and home screen? 2. How do you close/ open the control center from lock and home screen? 3. does anyone else notice that ios7 is kind of slow when using voiceover? RE: Siri
Dear list members: The Issue affecting Siri, it's usually found within the latest iOS (iOS 6 .1.3, 6.1.4 and sometimes iOS 5) According to an article, which I will post the link here, apparently this Siri "issue" is a tweak by Apple . The following will be a link to the article, posted on CNET. http://www.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-57584441-37/siri-tells-users-get-to-the-point/ -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group. RE: Siri
Sorry, didn't mean to delete message My issue with Siri is as follows when dictating a long text message, she will come back and say can you ask that question again but shorter. Or she will make a quote reference to Thomas Jefferson about sentences being shorter. this happened a few days ago and is affecting multiple people with different iPhone models and the newest iOS installed, and I have spoken to Apple and they say it is possibly a error with Siri trying to connect to the network. Or issue with something that had been changed with Apple servers. Please review the following link to the issue that I and many others are having with Siri https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5015216?start=0&tstart=0 -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group. Re: Siri
Hi, Sorry that happened here is the issue I have an Iphone 4s and latest IOS 6.1.3 a few days ago (more like around the 1st week or so of may) I went to use SIRI to dictate a rather long text message, usually prior to IOS 6.1.3 like ex IOS 5 she would process the text and send it with no problem. Fast forward to now where u ask her to send a text you can tell her who you want to send it to and she will ask what you want to say which is normal) But then when you dictacte the lengthy text she will answer "can you ask that question in shorter words" or wow that's a lot of words how bout a shorter question, or give a quote about Thomas Jefferson... Please read article located @ this link that explains the issue: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5015216?start=0&tstart=0 yes I have switched on/ off Siri, done a Network/ Phone reset and so forth, and I called Apple Care they said that Siri could have been Internally updated by Apple and something in the Servers that are used to process requests could have gotten changed. I tried out an Iphone 5 )display model) @ the apple store the other day dictated a long text as a test and the same issue occoured. The Apple Guy I spoke to and demonstrated my issue to on my 4s said that if it is affecting my phone and the display Iphone 5 then it affects all Iphones. He also said it could be that siri could have trouble communicating with the Servers. I think honestly its Apple's servers as sometimes ur-related to this issue I-messages are sent as texts and Face Time does not always work. Hope that Explains it sorry for deleting the thread Marissa -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group. Re: Siri
Dear list I have said punctuation and it makes no difference, I also said short sentences and short lines it works okay but as mentioned when you try to dictate something longer Siri acts up. I emailed Apple and hope one of the representatives can get back to me, I called AppleCare and they said that they're not sure maybe Siri was updated internally By Apple, and it is just "siri's behavior"I am thinking, that this is something either was a bug or planned by apple to discourage us from sending lengthy texts. Either way, I am not happy Henryland Siri just like the rest of you and annoys me that she is not working correctly -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group. RE: Siri
Hello list, I have spoken to several apple care representatives also, and went to an Apple store today, it sounds as though probably some change was made by APPLE and it is affecting all iPhones the gentleman that I spoke to said it could be the "network" I'm assuming he meant servers that Siri is communicating with I even tried it on a display iPhone 5 and still the same issue so I'm assuming Apple changed something . siri
Dear list, I use siri frequently on my Iphone 4s and i have noticed that I cannot send lengthy texts, as I used to be able to . I know siri has a limit as to how much can be spoken but something weird is going on example to follow: Siri send text to Jill "What would you like to say to jill?" Me dictating to Siri :"Hey Jill how are you" What are you up to I will call you later to talk about the baseball game and we need to get together for lunch." Siri replies "easy there Marissa can you ask that question again but shorter?" or wow that's a lot of words or some quote about Thomas Jefferson. This usually happens when dictating texts that are lengthy, I called Apple and they said nothing is wrong with my phone that its just siri being siri I guess they have done "internal updates to her" on their end. Anyone think I should go to apple and have them look at the phone anyway? this just started happening just recently?
