Actually Sieghard, it wasn't the handwashing routine that started, it was the fall detection and was getting ready to contact emergency services ... so I stopped it. How silly would I have felt had the fire department and/or police shown up because I was doing laundry ... pretty silly . Well I’m glad you like your Apple Watch. I like my Apple Watch first generation and I will keep using it as long as the software is able to support the hardware and until that day comes where it doesn’t then I will get the next one but that will be a long time coming I’m sure. I just like it because it really fits me my arms and wrists are kind of small so I like the flexibility of that and the fact that I can use a Melanese loop with the series 5. As you begin to wash your hands, you will hear VoiceOver begin counting down from 20 to 0. When it reaches zero, you will get hap tic feedback on the watch and the countdown is done. Hello Christopher, and Everyone: First, Christopher, I completely agree with you. I think of the hand-washing feature as far more than just a novelty as it has definitely improved my hand-washing efforts. I like what you said about time seeming to slow down during such uninteresting moments. Be that as it may, some people will see the feature as little more than a gimmick or proverbial hand-holding; that's okay, everyone is entitled to her /his opinion, said opinion being equally valid as any other. Second, I have truly enjoyed reading this thread. Richard, you made me laugh out loud with your contribution, man! That was funny, thank you so much. Third, when I was a little boy, I truly believed that the people that I saw on television actually lived inside the TV set. I remember asking my mother why she did not put food inside the TV to feed all those people who must get hungry at night, after we turned the TV off. Ah! To be so young, eh (smile)? Well, we can't get up, walk across the room and change the tv channel any more, we can't get up and flip a light switch or turn on a fan, it only stands to reason that we need to be told to wash our hands. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of Donna Casteen Sent: December 11, 2021 3:52 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: My First Favorite Feature of Apple Watch Series 7 The hand washing feature is not an app. It is a setting that can be toggled on/off within the settings on the watch. I found that having the feature turned on affected battery life on my 6Se watch. Just rinsing dishes or filling a glass with water to drink seemed to start the hand washing timer. Hey Kay. Go to settings on the watch and swipe through until you get to hand washing. Double tap it. Swipe through and turn it on there. There is also an option to have it give you a little nudge to remind you to wash your hands a few minutes after you return home. Yes there is a little guy living in the watch that is always looking out for you. Cheers. The little guy that lives in the watch can see what your doing . Another answer, it is magic. The real answer is it uses the sensors in the watch to detect a specific pattern. So, I need some input with this app. Usually, when you want to wash your hands, they are dirty. Dirt from playing in the garden, food from mixing a meatloaf and so on. Did you put the handwashing feature in one of your watch faces? Or do you wander through your apps until you find it, and then at that point what needs a bath more, you or your watch. I guess the point of this is, What is the easiest way to find this app?
