Onfortunately, Mary, I have seen a couple of books that show the behavior
you describe. I assume the affected pages contain images or maps. I have
simply navigated beyond those pages–not a happy solution, I know.

Re: Problem with an iBook

2015-06-27 Thread Mary Otten
Thanks, Craig. It appears that the entire book that I have is showing this
problem. I have not looked at every page, but I have looked at several
throughout the book, and they all have the same thing. I guess I will have to
try to find out if I can get a refund for this book from Apple. Too bad, as it
is one that I have really been wanting to read. It's also on Kindle, so it is
kind of tempting to try it there. On the other hand, I don't want to waste
another $10.

Re: Problem with an iBook

2015-06-27 Thread Mary Otten
Hi Anna,
I had not tried your suggestions, but I just did with no joy. Speaks green
spells out the letters just like voiceover did, and tapping on the image prior
to starting with a two finger flick down to read all didn't do any good. I have
written Apple accessibility, since I could not find any info on the refund
process.
Thanks for trying to help. This book is on Kindle, and they say text to speech
is enabled. But of course that's not relevant for a voice over user. It is a
cookbook, which is kind of why I wanted it on iBooks, for easier navigation. Oh
well.

Re: Problem with an iBook

2015-06-27 Thread Craig Werner
Mary, perhaps asking a sighted person with a knowledge of fonts and their
on-screen presentation to look at the book might give clues as to why words
are being spelled out. This information might not help you fix the problem,
but it might serve as amunition during the refund process.

Subject: Problem with an iBook

I bought two iBooks last night. One is a omnibus edition of two books by the
same author, over 700 print pages. I got the iTunes receipt in my email
showing I had been billed for both the items I purchased.
Unfortunately, instead of over 700 pages, what downloaded was the two pages
of promotional material about the book. It is not a new book, so this is not
a pre-order. I found the Report a Problem link below the book title in the
iTunes receipt and clicked on it. I signed in with my Apple ID and password.
Below the Report a Problem heading was my Apple ID and an edditfield with
a string of characters already filled in, and No results below that.
There was nowhere to proceed from there. Where can I call or email to get
the book or a refund?
Thanks for any help.

Hi
i can attest to this, i recently added my card to my Apple Id, tried to
make a purchase but couldn't be done at the time, contacted iTunes
Support for help, turns out i had to wait at least thirty minutes before
i could make a purchase, so i tried again in a few hours and it worked.
