Re: RII Keyboard -- Say All

2013-10-31 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I don't understand your message, but maybe this from the web page
mentioned below will help:

A Few Important Notes

Before I go into the various keyboard commands, there are a few things I
would like to mention. First, for Windows users, there are a couple
noteworthy differences between a traditional PC keyboard and an Apple
keyboard. Instead of the control, Windows, and alt modifiers, Apple
devices use control, command, and option. Control maps to control,
Windos maps to command, and alt maps to option.

Re: RII Keyboard

2013-04-24 Thread RobH!
The arrow keys are bottom right, the further 2 right on the bottom row are
left/right, and to the left of left arrow is down arrow and above that is up
arrow. I still think the quicknav keystroke of both up/down together does
the double tap feature. When I first paired this, I went to VoiceOver's
help so you could press anything to find out what it was, and that's how I
found out for the most part.

I hardly use it now.

Re: RII keyboard

2012-07-24 Thread AJ
I am in the minority apparently... I can't stand the Verbatim
keyboard. The flatness or lack of depth of the keys and the way they
click. As someone else mentioned then there is the alignment of the
number keys.

Anyone had any luck with the silicone type keyboards?

Hank, I think Chris is correct. My husband and I just tried to search for

Re: RII keyboard

2012-07-23 Thread Scott Howell
You know that Verbatim would be absolutely perfect if it were not for the
number keys being smaller than the other keys and worse, out of line with the
other keys. I think Verbatim could have thought this out a bit more and would
truly have a great keyboard.
Now if APple would only make a foldable modle of their keyboard; now that would
be just perfect.

I have to disagree here. Maybe my fingers are smaller than most, but I can
use all fingers to type with. I'm actually using it to reply to this

I got use to it, I was able to type almost as fast with my apple BT

Ihave both the RII and the Verbatim. While the Verbatim is more comfortable
and easier to type on, the RII is so small it fits into the slot in my purse
intended for my cell phone. (I don't put my phone in there because the case
makes it too bulky for that slot.) I think both are useful; it's a matter of

I'm not sure. I bought it at my local Radio Shack, as opposed to on line, so I
don't have anything I can check at the moment. When I get some sighted help, I
can see if someone can find a model number. Others on the list have this
keyboard, and I think they've probably pointed to it on Amazon.com, so maybe
they can also answer this question.

Re: Verbatum keyboard [was "Re: RII keyboard"]

2012-07-23 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I checked the archives myself, and that does seem to be the keyboard I
have. Note, I wanted the keyboard to use when traveling, so I could get
to touch type when showing up in hotels and the like without having to
carry around a full sized bluetooth keyboard. like i SAID, when walking
around, in a car or sitting in a restaurant, I don't mind using the
virtual keyboard.

BTW, here's the message I found from Julian in the archive:

Amazon has a better deal on that Verbatim folding keyboard which I
also use btw. Here's the link to purchase:

Like I said, it's a folding keyboard. When folded it's about the size of a
small paperback book. When unfolded, it locks in place. It was meant to work
with IOS devices, so it has several dedicated keys on it, like a home key. You
can definitely touch type on it, although a few keys are in slightly different
positions. For example, the number keys 1 through
5 are shifted to the right a bit to make room for a few extra keys in the upper
left hand corner. The b key is a bit further away than normal since it's on the
other side of the fold.

Remember, I only recently got this keyboard, so I haven't put it through it's
paces yet. One of the reasons I got it, was I was able to purchase it locally,
so I could give it a try and return it if I didn't like it, but I don't plan on
returning it. I opted not to get a smaller keyboard that you could just thumb
type on because I feel I'm proficient enough with the virtual keyboard, and if
I was going to get a portable bluetooth keyboard, I wanted to be able to touch
type on it.

There have been several messages on this and other keyboards on the list
recently. I'd suggest checking out the archive and the applevis.com site.

Verbatum keyboard [was "Re: RII keyboard"]

2012-07-23 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Like I said, it's a folding keyboard. When folded it's about the size of
a small paperback book. When unfolded, it locks in place. It was meant
to work with IOS devices, so it has several dedicated keys on it, like a
home key. You can definitely touch type on it, although a few keys are
in slightly different positions. For example, the number keys 1 through
5 are shifted to the right a bit to make room for a few extra keys in
the upper left hand corner. The b key is a bit further away than normal
since it's on the other side of the fold.

Remember, I only recently got this keyboard, so I haven't put it through
it's paces yet. One of the reasons I got it, was I was able to purchase
it locally, so I could give it a try and return it if I didn't like it,
but I don't plan on returning it. I opted not to get a smaller keyboard
that you could just thumb type on because I feel I'm proficient enough
with the virtual keyboard, and if I was going to get a portable
bluetooth keyboard, I wanted to be able to touch type on it.

There have been several messages on this and other keyboards on the list
recently. I'd suggest checking out the archive and the applevis.com site.
