Try and see if the port where you connect the battery (the lightning port, is
OK? ON a spanish Whatsapp group I’m on, someone had a similar experience
several days ago, and he took the phone to the store, where they changed the
lightning port, and it’s as good as new. Hope this helps some.can

Re: my iPhone 6 is moribund

2018-09-12 Thread Marie N.
I have had this happen on an IPhone 6s and on my IPhone 8. Try telling Siri
to turn voiceover off, then tell her to turn it on. This usually works
immediately. This issue has only surfaced for me with IOS 11 and now with
the beta of IOS 12.

Not sure if it is related, but I have had times when Voiceover goes
unresponsive on my IPhone 7. I hear clicks when I swipe around, but
no voice feedback. To fix it I use the triple-press of the home
button to toggle Voiceover on and off. It takes several times of
this, usually 4 or five, but Voiceover comes back on eventually.

My primary purpose in writing this post is to inquire whether it is
possible

for Apple to remotely check the status of my iPhone 6 which is running IOS
11.4.1.

No one is around to check the screen, and I can't unlock the phone since
there is no audible feedback. Will try later today by connecting to

Symptoms are as follows: Voiceover does not speak even though I asked Siri
to turn it on. When I press the home button, I feel the vibration but hear
no ding. I cannot make outgoing phone calls; however, if I call my iPhone,
I
hear the chime and voiceover announces the name of the caller which is in
my

contact list. So I know it is not a volume issue. The phone continues to
ring even though I use a two finger double tap on the screen. Is the
speech

toggle a three finger double tap?

Thanks for feedback.

Worth pointing out here that the difference between turning Voiceover on/off
and toggling speech on/off is that VO can be used with Braille only.

So where as a triple press of the Home Button completely unloads VoiceOver
turning speech off with a three finger double tab turns speech off but leaves
Voiceover running for Braille users.

Shutting off speech leaves Voiceover on, just without speech. A three-finger

Re: my iPhone 6 is moribund

2018-09-12 Thread Kimber Gardner
I've had the very same experience with my iPhone 7, Denny. I managed
to engage Siri and had her turn off VO then turn it back on which
corrected the issue.

Re: my iPhone 6 is moribund

2018-09-12 Thread Denny Schwab
Not sure if it is related, but I have had times when Voiceover goes
unresponsive on my IPhone 7. I hear clicks when I swipe around, but
no voice feedback. To fix it I use the triple-press of the home
button to toggle Voiceover on and off. It takes several times of
this, usually 4 or five, but Voiceover comes back on eventually.

Subject: my iPhone 6 is moribund

My primary purpose in writing this post is to inquire whether it is possible
for Apple to remotely check the status of my iPhone 6 which is running IOS
11.4.1.

No one is around to check the screen, and I can't unlock the phone since there
is no audible feedback. Will try later today by connecting to iTunes.

Symptoms are as follows: Voiceover does not speak even though I asked Siri to
turn it on. When I press the home button, I feel the vibration but hear no
ding. I cannot make outgoing phone calls; however, if I call my iPhone, I hear
the chime and voiceover announces the name of the caller which is in my contact
list. So I know it is not a volume issue. The phone continues to ring even
though I use a two finger double tap on the screen. Is the speech toggle a
three finger double tap?

Thanks for feedback.

Re: my iPhone 6 is moribund

2018-09-12 Thread Jim Weiss
Don,
Have you tried to reboot the phone? Apple can log into your phone, but it has
to be unlocked and working because you have to accept the incoming request. If
you can connect to iTunes, you may be able to toggle voice over off and back on.

Re: my iPhone 6 is moribund

2018-09-12 Thread Candy Lowe
don, that happened to me one time. My cited husband was here and he looked at
it and there was nothing he could do. It was totally locked. We went to the
Apple store. They gave us an appointment and told us to come back at 3 PM. By
the time we got there, it had worked itself out. I don’t know what was wrong
with that, but it worked itself out on it’s own. It was also an iPhone 6.
