Re: iOS 15 not seven

2022-09-20 Thread William Outman
No, there shouldn’t be any problems. 15.7 is just a security update.
I’m thinking of holding off a bit before going to iOS 16 until things settle
down a bit.
Thankfully we’re not forced to take that update at this point.

RE: iOS 15 "my updates"

2021-11-22 Thread Richard Turner
I ask Siri, What is on my Calendar for a given date, and it replies with all
the appointments for that date.

Are you using the native calendar app?

How are you phrasing your question.

And, yes, they are talking about the Apple Podcasts app. But, I just asked,
What are my updates? It is a new feature that gives you the weather, and news
if you have that Podcasts app installed and I suspect have selected news
sources, and some other bit of information.
Much like an Alexa skill you can set up.

I don't use the Apple Podcasts app, so cannot test that.

When I do this it says thatt I need to install the podcast app to get news

Is this the apple podcast app because I already have that installed or some

Also is it possible to have siri respond with all appointments on my calendar

But it would appear this is an issue fairly unique to you or a very small group

It doesn't seem to matter whether there are other apps running or if mail is
the only app in the app switcher. Apparently the mail retrieval problem is an
actual thing because there are various solutions proposed all around the net so
I know I'm not the only one who is having this issue. But shutting down my
phone every time (or nearly every time) I want to read my mail is really
annoying. There are times when, no matter what I do, my mail simply will not
download.

I have reported this to Apple and hopefully they can reproduce it and address
it in a future update. But it is sufficiently annoying that I wish I had not
updated.

Re: IOS 15

2021-11-16 Thread Bill Gallik
I contacted Apple support earlier today; the support tech suggested all sorts
of possibilities, all options I had already tried to no avail. She even ran a
diagnostic on my iPhone 8 to make sure the sensors were still functioning
properly. They were.

At this point I’m going to deploy one of my Bluetooth earphones until I can
purchase a new iPhone or until the next iOS release resolves this problem.

As I say, this issue manifested after installing iOS15.1 so hopefully the next
software update will correct the problem. Although, it doesn’t really matter
because I’ve been seriously considering acquiring a new iPhone 12 anyway.

RE: IOS 15

2021-11-16 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi Kimberly,

There was an issue with microsofts exchange 365 services mainly calendar today
with IOS mail app,

Any chance this is related to your phone?

I have not been noticing mail related issues on my phone.

But it is sufficiently annoying that I wish I had not
updated.

No such problems here either! Have you tried restarting (turning off/on), the
phone? Sometimes these restarts help solve little glitches like the one
described. Good luck!

RE: IOS 15

2021-11-16 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I don't have this issue at all with my iPhone 11 and iOS 15.1.
Have you checked to make sure the setting which controls this in Voiceover
Settings > Audio is not turned off?
Also, you can always just plug in the Earpods or use any other wired or
Bluetooth headset as a work-around.

One very annoying property of iOS15.1 is that the feature of switching to
SPEAKER automatically during a telephone call when you move the phone away from
your ear seems to be badly broken. There was a thread in this list discussing
the matter where it was suggested that a single finger right flick (or left)
would resolve this bug, this has not worked for me. If I had to do it over
again knowing this, I would have remained with iOS15.0; I recommend you do not
load iOS15.1 unless using the speaker during a call is a non-factor for you.

One consequence of the above described bug is that “Be My Eyes” is rendered
quite useless for me because I’m not able to communicate with the volunteer
answering my request. I find it nearly impossible to accurately aim the phone
to transmit a decent picture of the item I need identified with the phone
pressed up against my ear.

RE: IOS 15

2021-11-16 Thread mmmat
Before you do that, try waking up the phone first. If the phone is asleep, it
will not switch to speaker. I hit the power button once and that wakes up the
phone and then it will switch to speaker. If you have a home button, try
hitting that first then moving the phone away from your ear.

Hopefully that resolves your issue.

Huh, if that don’t beat all. Maybe I’ll try a reset and hope that resolves the

I am not experiencing the issue with moving the phone away from my head and it
going to speaker. It works fine on my 13 pro running iOS 15.1.

Your mileage may vary, but ever since updating to iOS15 my SE 2020 has had
problems retrieving email. The problem is hit and miss in that sometimes
everything works just fine. But at least every two or three days I need to
fiddle with the phone to get email to download. By fiddle I mean either
removing mail from the app switcher or completely shutting down the phone. It's
not what I would call show-stopping -- not for me anyway -- but it is
inconvenient and annoying.

I know that not everyone has this issue and, like I said, it isn't reproducable
with any consistency. But just something to think about.

not for me anyway -- but it is inconvenient and annoying.

I know that not everyone has this issue and, like I said, it isn't
reproducable with any consistency. But just something to think about.

Hi All:
Well I”ve been pretty fortunate until now. I purchased the Beats blu scale some
years ago and although it has been long gone from the App Store, it has
continued to work fairly well. I decided yesterday to update to iOS 15, and
that’s the end of that for my poor scale app.
The scale works wonderfully of course, but absolutely no good to me.
So what are people currently using that works with iOS 15? I thought about
purchasing the Withings scale which has been around a long time and probably
still gets updates, but I’m open for comments on that or other options.
I do need to resolve this soon so all suggestions welcome. Accessibility is
more important than price, and the most important is that perhaps it’s still
getting actual updates and might be supported a while.

Re: iOS 15 Broke My Weight scale

2021-11-02 Thread Robin Frost

Hi,

Again I don't have this scale but do have their blood pressure monitor
and if it's any indication set up  was easy as can be and was
accessible. There was one point at which I had to briefly turn on screen
recognition to find a register button. But that was the only momentary
hurtle.

It connects to the phone via bluetooth. You mentioned wi-fi I didn't
read the documentation for the scale but thought it connected the same
way but perhaps I'm wrong.  If it does however you shouldn't have any
issues. When you first open the app it'll ask you which device you have,
walk you through setting up an account with them and then there's
usually a tutorial walking you through set up and first usage.

I hope that helps.

Take good care.

Robin

RE: IOS 15 with the iPhone 8

2021-10-11 Thread dm-hill
Yes, you can install iOS 15 on an iPhone 8. The only problems you will have is
with any glitches in iOS 15, There really aren't that many this time around.

Take care and stay safe!

Um,

I can’t say I’m seeing this on either my SE 2020 or my 11 pro max,

I can bring up the app switcher and see all the apps currently sitting there
flicking left or right it doesn’t matter.

Have you guys shut down and restarted your devices?

Hi Gerardo,

Whether VoiceOver reads apps in the App Switcher depends on which phone you
have. Some work fine. On my second generation SE, most app names aren't read if
I flick left. They are read as I flick right, and when I close one, I am told
which app I'm now focused on. So it's annoying but possible to work around.

Notifications usually work fine.

With a braille display, I'm able to type in a web address fine on my phone, so
I would guess that a Bluetooth keyboard would work too. I've had trouble on my
iPad though.

Best,
Anna

Also within the notification, when you flick down and interact with it, is the

RE: IOS 15 security update

2021-09-20 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi,

What you currently have under the beta program is the release candidate
So pretty much what apple will release today to the world, if it’s released
today.

T here is in my view no point removing the beta profile to go back to IOS 15
production.

But if you ned to then under settings general vpn I think it is now is the beta
profile which you can uninstall from your phone and then as Richard said it
should update to the production IOS version when it is released..

Or you can go through the steps apple should have on line to restore the phone
back o the factory defaults.

Either way.

It’s a lot of time doing something you don’t really need to do.

RE: IOS 15 security update

2021-09-20 Thread Richard Turner
If you want to stay in the beta cycle for betas of the updates to iOS 15 you
can do nothing and get the security update when they do another beta version I
would presume.

But, and this is a relatively big but, if you want to go back to the public
release, Apple’s steps worked for me, but I did them two or three weeks ago.
Their instructions said to simply remove the beta profile. Then, when the next
public release comes out, you will be able to update to that release.
I had my SE 2020 on the beta until about probably 3 weeks ago now when I
removed the beta profile.

Today, when I opened the software updates, it showed iOS 15, and as I flicked
right, it showed an update for iOS 15. That was probably the Security update
Gordan was talking about now that I think of it.
Anyway, I’m now on the public release and plan to stay there on that phone.
When I get my new phone, my SE 2020 will become my wife’s iPhone and for what
it is worth, I may put my first gen SE on the beta, but since it is so limited
in dealing with any of the new features, I will probably just sit out the betas.

Long answer, and probably mostly off the topic of your question, but there you
go.

If you open quite a few apps, I currently opened 10 apps after upgrading to iOS
15, I sometimes get this where when I swipe left it will only say "Active,
actions available", but if you swipe left once more and then right it will read
the app title and if you swipe all the way left and then go through the apps
swiping right it reads all app names. This is a minor annoyance/inconvenience
at best, yes, it's a bug, but certainly not a deal-breaker.

RE: IOS 15 security update

2021-09-20 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I apologize ahead of time for my ignorance, but this is my first time with an
IOS beta. I got an IOS 15 update last Thursday. So, as a beta user, what do I
need to do now? Do I need to delete the beat beta profile to get to the
publicly released version of IOS? I don’t remember seeing this when I signed up
for and installed the beta, but maybe I need to go back and look for
instructions on what to do now.

Re: IOS 15 security update

Also within the notification, when you flick down and interact with it, is the
bug still present that instead of acting on it, it dismisses it? And lastly for
those with bluetooth keyboards, that in safari, you aren’t able to get focus to
type in a web address?

Re: IOS 15 security update

2021-09-20 Thread Richard Turner
i went to settings, general, software and there is no update after installing
the release version this morning.
I then checked the Settings, Jeneral, About, and on the software version,
double tapped to reveal the build number, is this what you have after the
security patch by chance?
Software Version, 15.0 (19A346)

There is certainly a security update for those of us running the IOS 15 RC.
However, it does not show up unless the beta profile is deleted. Once the
profile is deleted, you will see an IOS 15 update. The update is labeled
security update.
