Re: iTunes help needed
Hi all, I just wanted to give everyone an update on my iTunes situation. Well My itunes is now working like it should be and I can now open it. As far as importing my third CDit was imported in iTunes and it's there but, when it was imported into iTunes the third CD wasn't in the same place as the other 2 CD's that are in this collection. The third CD was stored in another folder called collections. So the third CD was moved from the collections folder to the folder that the other 2CD's are at But when I went to sync iTunes to my iPhone and sync this third CD to my phone it didn't show up in my phone with the other 2 CD's that I successfully sync to my iPhone. So, I tried importing 2 other CD's to itunes and then syncing with my iPhone and the 2 other CD's were successfully transford to my iPhone. But for some reason this third CD is giving me problems. iTunes recognizes the third CD and itunes will play the CD but when syncing to my iPhone the CD doesn't show up. So that's where I'm at on this. I will try syncing the CD to my pnone again and see if it shows up in my phone. This has become a mystry to me. I want to thank the person and he knows who he is for taking the time to call me and help me with this. Thanks. Let us know what happens with your iTunes situation. Also, remember that every one of us were new at this stuff at one time, and None of us were born already knowing it. I definitely am a believer in what I call natural ability. Some people are, say, more naturally athletic than others, or can cook or play a musical instrument more easily than some. But simply wanting to know how to do a given task has a fair amount to do with how well one learns to do that task. So, if you want to learn it, chances are that you will be doing all kinds of things with technology a year from now that you can't do now, and finding it to be easy. Hang in there. RE: iTunes help needed
Hello Lori, Oh my. The thought of you spending so much time trying to get iTunes up and running, breaks my heart. Thank you for answering my questions. In a nutshell, your answers confirm what I had feared might be the case. In no way am I suggesting that you cannot get iTunes up and running but you have quite a few hardware and software challenges stacked up against you. As rose writes in a subsequent post to this thread, you might consider uninstalling all Apple components from your computer via the Add/Remove Control Panel and simply reinstall iTunes. Please note that I suggest that you first uninstall iTunes and all Apple components. Merely installing iTunes over itself will most likely not resolve your problem. Also keep in mind that, from your computer's perspective, iTunes is a memory hog--especially where screen-reading software is concerned. Finally, please remember that none of this is your fault. You have done absolutely nothing wrong. Re: iTunes help needed
Let me say: Please don't let these very unfortunate experiences, the non-opening, and the not being able to import that third cd yet, permanently ruin your overall thinking about iTunes, or your iPhone. The non-opening experience probably is not your fault, really, something has gone wrong with the files on your computer that is causing your problem. I don't know if you are one of them, but some people would let themselves be completely put off toward iTunes by this incident happening so near the beginning of their experience with it. Please don't let this happen to you. Before you had this not opening problem to occur, I had written a response to you as to how to get it to import that third cd, which I have saved in my drafts folder. RE: iTunes help needed
Hello Lori, I completely second Arnold's sentiment. iTunes, even on Windows, in my never-to-be humble opinions, is one of the most effective and easy-to-use content managers I've ever used. In fact, when setting up new Windows computers for people, I always install iTunes even if they do not have an iOS device. I do this because, once understood, many find that they prefer it to some other popular Windows-based content managers. I'm not Mark, but on Windows I've used both Windows Media Player and Winamp, which are both accessible content managers. I've also used FooBar, which I consider more of a media player rather than a content manager, but there are quite a few plugins out there that let you manage your content with FooBar. Re: iTunes help needed
Hi Mark and all, Your welcome. I didn't mine answering yourquestions and I thank everyone who were trying to help me out. I really do appreciate it. I actually have someone from this list who will try to help me out tomorrow in trying to get this issue resolved. I will keep all suggestions in mine tomorrow when we try to get this resolved and fixed. I'm not going to give up but let me tell you I tried and tried to get this resolved on Sunday but to no reveal. Like I've said before I know nothing about iTunes and I never use it until I got my iPhone. I'm not that good with technology I've never used before and iTunes was frustrating me to no end. But I will try to keep an open mine and continue to learn how to use iTunes once this issue is resolved. I thought I was doing good managing to successfully put to of my three CD's on my phone. That's a big accommplishment for me. I'm glad you all are understanding and not thinking how stupid I am when it comes to learning itunes. Again I really do appreciate everyone's help from this list and I'm glad to be a part of it. Take care. RE: iTunes help needed
Hi Lori, You've been receiving some excellent advice on this thread. Did you ever get iTunes to open again? To me, there are several questions that need to be answered in order to get you back up and running. 1. What version of Windows are you using? 2. Which screen reader, if any, are you using? 3. Do you have any residual vision that you can use to see if iTunes is or is not launching? 4. How old is your computer? 5. Is your computer connected to the Internet via a cable or via Wifi? 6. Have you subscribed to any podcast via iTunes on your computer? I realize that some of my questions may not exactly make sense to some but, as a person who has been dealing with iTunes for Windows since early 2008, I can tell you that they are relevant. Sometimes, iTunes for Windows doesn't play nicely with the video drivers, for example. As a result, the program can actually be launching but you cannot see or act upon it via a screen reader. I strongly urge you not to restore your Windows computer to an earlier version if iTunes is the only program giving you problems. Please keep in mind that if iTunes does not properly shut down, it can lock the necessary files causing launch problems. Even a system reboot can, sometimes, not solve this. Based on what you've posted so far, I am not convinced this is the case. However, if you want, you can uninstall iTunes and all its related components from the Add/Remove control panel in Windows, if memory serves there are 5 components, and then reinstall iTunes from scratch. To get the latest version of iTunes for Windows, go to http://www.apple.com/itunes Caution, if you have never uninstalled a program from your computer, be very, very careful. When it's all said and done, you want to be prompted with the Import Dialog Box when you insert a CD, right? There are several ways to get this to happen but you must understand that it is quite possible that you inadvertently turned this feature off. You can turn it back on but you must do so in either the iTunes preferences area or in the Windows Explorer area. Also, it is possible that iTunes is automatically importing your CDs. Lori, if some of this seems overwhelming, you might consider getting some one-on-one assistance, in person. Understand that, while iTunes for Windows and iTunes for OSX may look similar, they are, in fact, very, very different applications in terms of stability and how they perform with access software. I say this so that you will not blame yourself for the problems you have encountered. Depending upon various factors, it can take iTunes for Windows up to twenty or more minutes to launch on certain computers with certain iTunes and system configurations. It just depends. This is most likely not your situation but it is possible. It took me almost two months, way back then, to stop cursing iTunes everytime I opened it on my Windows computer back in 2008 (smile). Conversely, iTunes for the Mac is as sweet as Tupelo honey, Honey. I wish you all the best. RE: iTunes help needed
Sometimes when I open iTunes, I've been told there's a dialog box of some sort that is silent to JAWS. I've learned to just hit Escape a few times after starting iTunes, and I've had fewer such problems. And, at times, there's a Dropbox Photo Transfer dialog that creeps in at times, and this is superimposed over iTunes. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of M. RE: iTunes help needed
Lori, with iTunes open, have you tried removing your music CD and inserting it again? This should cause the dialog box asking you if you'd like to import it to open. If it doesn't, the CD should be identified in the iTunes sidebar under the Devices section. Put focus on the CD name and press ctrl + F10 and a context menu should open with one of the choices being Import CD. Good luck. Re: iTunes help needed
If I were in this situation, I would do a system restore, back to when it was working. I would go back to the latest one before it stopped working. It sounds as if the iTunes .exe file has gotten messed up some way. As for how to do a system restore on a windows computer, I guess that definitely is getting out of bounds for this list.
