RE: Since I updated to iOS 15.1.

2021-12-16 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
The exact title is "Sounds & Haptics"
Did you check "Change with Buttons" in Settings > Sounds & Haptics and make
sure it is turned off?
It could just be that the volume for system sounds is low. If you turn this off
in case it is on and then raise the volume control just above this to at least
70 or 80% then at least you know this is not the issue.
I would also go to Settings > Notifications > Messages and make sure a Sound is
selected there and that Messages are allowed on the lockscreen.

RE: Since I updated to iOS 15.1.

2021-12-15 Thread Richard Turner
Are you talking about your settings under notifications, Messages?
I've never had an issue with receiving the message sounds when a new text
message comes in.
I am on 15.2 now, and they work as always.

Check that Do Not Disturb is not on and make sure the phone mute switch is not
on.
Otherwise, you may need to call Apple Accessibility and have them do a screen
share to see if they can identify what is going on.

2021-12-15 Thread Jenny Bomareto
When I receive a text message I don’t get no sound. I went into settings to
make sure sounds was on and it shows it’s on and when I went into messages all
that stuff is turned on except for like the stuff that talks about pictures.
Since obviously we cannot see that.

Thanks for your assistance regarding this matter.

2021-12-13 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
People you trust and email still can see your email, but you can choose to
hide your email when you for example sign up for some newsletter or anything
like this. For this you can create an alias email address which you then use
and any email which is sent to that address you still get as you would all your
regular email, but if at some point there comes a time when you get too much
junkmail to that address you can just delete the address and it won't affect
your regular main email.

Hi Jenny,

I have mine on hide. I think what this is for is when you go to web sites and
send email from them that it hides your email address. I don’t have a perfect
understanding of this either, but it is mainly for privacy. If you do hide it,
your private contacts will still see it is from you and your email address will
show up. Hope this helps.

RE: My iPhone X with iOS 15.1 acts like a Bluetooth keyboard is paired to it when there isn't one.

2021-12-10 Thread Richard Turner
This seems to be an issue in iOS 15.1.1 or possibly since 15. I've run into
this too.
Try connecting the keyboard again.
Then, press the left+right arrow keys together to toggle QuickNav off. Make
sure VO says QuickNav off, then switch back to your computer with the keyboard.
The phone should behave better now.
At least, this is working for me when that happens.

Annoying as hell. I cannot duplicate it 1005 so haven't sent the steps to
Apple to alert them.

Subject: My iPhone X with iOS 15.1 acts like a Bluetooth keyboard is paired to
it when there isn't one.

Hi.

I used a Bluetooth keyboard to unlock my iPhone X. I switched the keyboard back
to my computer, but now my phone is acting strange. Whenever I unlock it and
get to where I enter my pass code, I hear the tone that indicates the phone is
in edit mode, ready for a Bluetooth keyboard to enter the numbers. Also, when I
use my finger to enter the numbers on the screen, when I lift my finger, I hear
a click noise, as if a Bluetooth keyboard were being used. I haven't noticed
anything such as on screen keyboards missing, but I rarely use those to enter
texts.

Is there anything I need to be aware of, or is all good.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Have a blessed day and don't work too hard.

My iPhone X with iOS 15.1 acts like a Bluetooth keyboard is paired to it when there isn't one.

2021-12-10 Thread Kevin Minor

Kevin, Valerie and Jilly

RE: Adding COVID-19 vaccination passport to Apple Wallet in iOS 15.1

2021-10-29 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Fazil, you absolutely have to have the pass file open because otherwise you
cannot scan it.
If you call Aira you should probably do so with your iPad because if you call
them from your iPhone 8 they can as far as I know only see through the phone's
camera as long as Aira is in the foreground.
Maybe I'm wrong on this because they may have the ability to take over your
phone, but you would have to ask them, I have never tried anything like this. I
know they can take a picture for you, but if they could scan the QR code for
you and then activate the Add to Wallet button I don't know.
If anything then definitely use the iPhone 8 if that is what you are using to
scan the code which will be displayed on your iPhone 5S.

Should I call Aira with iPhone8 or 5S?
When I show the Vaccine passport, should I just highlight it or I should double
tap it to open?
Would Aira be able to activate Scan-Button or I should do it?
I am very sorry for that many silly questions.
Thank you very much for your help.

When you said you "turned it on", do you mean after adding it in Control Centre
you touched the status bar and swiped up with 3 fingers to bring up Control
Centre and then double tapped on Code Scanner?
If it is ready and you are in the right spot it should say on the screen "Find
a code to scan"

Then you said you "highlighted VP in the files app", I assume by VP you mean
the vaccination passport, did you double tap on it?
The image of your vaccination passport with the QR code has to be actually
displayed on the screen before you can scan it, check your 5S and make sure
screen curtain is not turned on because this of course would result in a black
screen.
If you are not sure maybe bring it up on your 5S and then call Aira to ask if
the QR code is visible, you can call them for free for up to 5 minutes and this
should take a lot less than that.
Alternatively ask a trusted person to help you, a friend, maybe a pharmacist
etc.

Mich,

I had posted a message with an article from iPhoneInCanada which contained a
link as to how to do this using the website called "Grassroots", but when I
just Googled this to find it again I found a new article which indicates that
Ontario has now moved to using a so-called "verifiable health record" which can
be directly scanned and added to the wallet. Here is the article:

Ontario Now Supports iOS 15 COVID-19 Vaccination Cards | How It
Works<https://www.idropnews.com/news/ontario-now-supports-ios-15-covid-19-vaccination-cards-how-it-works/170662/>

If you have your vaccination card with the QR code on the computer you can scan
it directly from the screen, just open the file on the computer and instead of
using the camera app I recommend using the Code Scanner feature which is part
of Control Centre because it automatically recognizes the QR code and the
message to add it to Health app and the Apple Wallet will pop up. If you use
the camera you still have to tap a button to capture the QR code once the
camera sees it, however, it does tell you when it sees it so you can try it
either way, but that should be all there is to it. I don't know how you obtain
the vaccine passport in the first place, but it could be possible I guess that
if you had it for a while and it was since updated you may have to redownload
it, here in British Columbia we have a website called Health Gateway and all
you have to do to get the vaccine passport is to click the link

your first or second shot as verification. Then the card is displayed and you
can download it, open or print it and then scan the QR code. I already had mine
on the computer so it literally took me less than a minute to open the file,
walk up to my laptop, open Code Scanner from Control Centre and slowly move the
phone across the screen from left to right, once I got towards the right side
it recognized the QR code, a screen popped up with a button asking if I wanted
to add it to Apple Wallet and the Health app and I tapped on that and it was
done.

2021-10-29 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

Alternatively ask a trusted person to help you, a friend, maybe a pharmacist
etc.

Hi, Sieghard.
I have added Code Scanner to the Ctrl-Center of my iPhone8 and turned it on.
Then I highlighted my VP which is in File App of my iPhone5S, brought iPhone8
in front of iPhone5S and expected some sort of prompt from either phones but
nothing happened. Was I doing something wrong?

I don't know how you obtain
the vaccine passport in the first place, but it could be possible I guess that
if you had it for a while and it was since updated you may have to redownload
it, here in British Columbia we have a website called Health Gateway and all
you have to do to get the vaccine passport is to click the link for it and then
enter your BC Medical Id, your birth date and either the date when you received
your first or second shot as verification. Then the card is displayed and you
can download it, open or print it and then scan the QR code. I already had mine
on the computer so it literally took me less than a minute to open the file,
walk up to my laptop, open Code Scanner from Control Centre and slowly move the
phone across the screen from left to right, once I got towards the right side
it recognized the QR code, a screen popped up with a button asking if I wanted
to add it to Apple Wallet and the Health app and I tapped on that and it was
done.

You can display it on your iPhone and scan with your iPad or vice versa,
personally I would find it easier to display it on the larger iPad screen and
scan it with my iPhone, but that's just what makes more sense to me, if you
feel confident that you can use the much larger iPad to scan the smaller phone
screen it should make no difference.

No, BC Id to my knowledge cannot be added to the Apple Wallet unless you used
one of these apps like Pass2Y Phone, but I wouldn't recommend it because it
would not be accepted as valid Id. I believe in some States in the US or maybe
it's in the entire US Apple is moving towards making it possible to have your
driver's license on your iPhone and that this will be recognized by certain
jurisdictions, but we are definitely not yet at that stage here although I
assume it will come at some point.

This means you may have to add it to the Control Panel because I can't remember
if it is there by default. I would first bring up Control Centre and check, if
it is not there go to Settings > Control Centre, look for it under the "More
Controls" heading and then double tap on where it says "Insert Code Scanner".

Regardless whether you use Code Scanner or the Camera app, once the QR code is
recognized a message pops up asking if you want to add the card to Apple Wallet
and Health, just tap Add and you are done; it's super simple.

Keep in mind that here in Canada this works with vaccination passports from BC
and a few other provinces whose cards meet the standard which Apple required
for this.

If you are in Ontario and a province where this is not the case it won't work,
but for Ontario there is a third-party work-around, I had posted the link for
that in the article from iPhoneInCanada where I first read that this should be
easy to do if you are in British Columbia.

RE: Adding COVID-19 vaccination passport to Apple Wallet in iOS 15.1

2021-10-28 Thread mich verrier
Hi I live in Ontario and can’t seem to find a way to get my covid id into my
wallit on apple I phone 8. I tried using ira to take a pick of the papor and
there was no qr coad on it. I also tried to upload the pdf files of each of my
vaxseen sertiffickits that I have on my phone and those didn’t work eather even
though there was a qr coad on at least one of those as well as the papor option
one of them had a qr coad. Does any one have any ideas how elts I can do this?
Many thanks. From Mich Verrier from New Liskeard Ontario Canada.

Subject: Adding COVID-19 vaccination passport to Apple Wallet in iOS 15.1

Hello Fazil,

I started a new thread here because this has nothing to do with reading
character by character.

No, you can't upload the file as far as I know, the QR code on the card has to
be scanned and at least I found the only way to do this is to display the card
on a second screen or to have a print out.

When I did mine I displayed it on my laptop screen and used the Code Scanner
option, when I then added my wife's on her phone I decided to try a different
approach and I printed out her vaccine passport and used the camera app.

In my opinion using Code Scanner is easier because it captures the code
automatically as soon as it sees it whereas with the camera app Voiceover told
me a QR code was present, but I then realized after nothing happened that there
was a button which I think was labelled "Capture QR Code" and I had to tap
that. But once I did it also worked.

If you want to use Code Scanner this is not an app per say, you have to access
it via the Control Centre similar to how you access the Flashlight which is
also not an app but a feature.

But how really do you press the side button?

I know what you’re saying but you would really have to press that side button
to make the phone talk.

But yeah turn the volume down,

Or get some headphones

Hi,

Since I updated my phone, an older SE, when I mute the phone with the side
switch, it will vibrate as usual when a message or alert comes in, but it also
speaks exactly what's coming in on the screen rather than remaining silent as
before. Any place I need to change a setting to make it mute VO like it used to
when the phone is muted?

Thanks.

RE: muting phone, VO & IOS 15.1

2021-10-04 Thread sherrywells1157
Yes, sorry - I should have said the 3 finger double tap just turned off speech
not Voice Over. When wanting to silence my phone while in a meeting or class,
this plus flipping the mute button to mute is all I need do to not be
interrupted. I like the fact that the phone will still vibrate letting me know
I've gotten a call or text that will need to be checked later.

Hi.
The three finger double tap does not turn off voiceover, it just mutes the
speech. The phone will still behave although voiceover is on, it just doesn't
speak.

I find the easiest thing to do to silence one’s phone is to first flip the
switch to mute then do a 3 finger double tap to turn off voice over. I find
this much easier than changing a setting. When out of the meeting, simply do
another 3 finger double tap to turn voice over back on & flip the mute switch
to unmute.

Go to Settings, Accessibility, VoiceOver, Verbosity, and turn off Always Speak

People can't contact you with Do Not Disturb on if you disable the feature
where a call which is repeated within 2 minutes it let through, but of course
you also have to make sure you don't allow Emergency Bypass for some people.
This is much easier now in iOS 15 because if you really want a Focus where
nothing comes through you can create one and call it something like "Church" or
"Total Silence" or whatever and really turn off everything.

Subject: muting phone, VO & IOS 15.1

Thanks.

Vicki

When out of the meeting, simply do
another 3 finger double tap to turn voice over back on & flip the mute switch
to unmute.

It also sounds like the VoiceOver setting to speak all notifications is on.

Go to Settings, Accessibility, VoiceOver, Verbosity, and turn off Always Speak

The other options are very good as well.

RE: muting phone, VO & IOS 15.1

2021-10-04 Thread CJ & AA MAY
Whilst talking abut the phone, recently mine has become quite temperamental.

As you know, if you hold the phone to your ear but then draw it away, it goes
into speaker mode but recently when going into or out of this mode, I seem to
lose connectivity for a few seconds.

2021-10-03 Thread Richard Turner
It also sounds like the VoiceOver setting to speak all notifications is on.
Go to Settings, Accessibility, VoiceOver, Verbosity, and turn off Always Speak
Notifications.

The other options are very good as well.

Thanks.
