RE: Since I updated to iOS 15.1.
The exact title is "Sounds & Haptics" Did you check "Change with Buttons" in Settings > Sounds & Haptics and make sure it is turned off? It could just be that the volume for system sounds is low. If you turn this off in case it is on and then raise the volume control just above this to at least 70 or 80% then at least you know this is not the issue. I would also go to Settings > Notifications > Messages and make sure a Sound is selected there and that Messages are allowed on the lockscreen. RE: Since I updated to iOS 15.1.
Are you talking about your settings under notifications, Messages? I've never had an issue with receiving the message sounds when a new text message comes in. I am on 15.2 now, and they work as always. Check that Do Not Disturb is not on and make sure the phone mute switch is not on. Otherwise, you may need to call Apple Accessibility and have them do a screen share to see if they can identify what is going on. For this you can create an alias email address which you then use and any email which is sent to that address you still get as you would all your regular email, but if at some point there comes a time when you get too much junkmail to that address you can just delete the address and it won't affect your regular main email. Hi Jenny, I have mine on hide. I think what this is for is when you go to web sites and send email from them that it hides your email address. I don’t have a perfect understanding of this either, but it is mainly for privacy. If you do hide it, your private contacts will still see it is from you and your email address will show up. RE: My iPhone X with iOS 15.1 acts like a Bluetooth keyboard is paired to it when there isn't one.
This seems to be an issue in iOS 15.1.1 or possibly since 15. I've run into this too. Try connecting the keyboard again. Then, press the left+right arrow keys together to toggle QuickNav off. Make sure VO says QuickNav off, then switch back to your computer with the keyboard. The phone should behave better now. At least, this is working for me when that happens. Annoying as hell. I cannot duplicate it 1005 so haven't sent the steps to Apple to alert them. Hi. I used a Bluetooth keyboard to unlock my iPhone X. I switched the keyboard back to my computer, but now my phone is acting strange. Steve, Go to Settings, Accessibility, VoiceOver, Audio, Sounds and haptics, No item discovered, and either turn off haptics or turn off both Sounds and Haptics as I have. I prefer no feedback when no item is discovered and this setting corrected it for me. RE: Adding COVID-19 vaccination passport to Apple Wallet in iOS 15.1
Fazil, you absolutely have to have the pass file open because otherwise you cannot scan it. If you call Aira you should probably do so with your iPad because if you call them from your iPhone 8 they can as far as I know only see through the phone's camera as long as Aira is in the foreground. Maybe I'm wrong on this because they may have the ability to take over your phone, but you would have to ask them, I have never tried anything like this. I know they can take a picture for you, but if they could scan the QR code for you and then activate the Add to Wallet button I don't know. If anything then definitely use the iPhone 8 if that is what you are using to scan the code which will be displayed on your iPhone 5S. No, BC Id to my knowledge cannot be added to the Apple Wallet unless you used one of these apps like Pass2Y Phone, but I wouldn't recommend it because it would not be accepted as valid Id. I believe in some States in the US or maybe it's in the entire US Apple is moving towards making it possible to have your driver's license on your iPhone and that this will be recognized by certain jurisdictions, but we are definitely not yet at that stage here although I assume it will come at some point. This means you may have to add it to the Control Panel because I can't remember if it is there by default. RE: Adding COVID-19 vaccination passport to Apple Wallet in iOS 15.1
You can display it on your iPhone and scan with your iPad or vice versa, personally I would find it easier to display it on the larger iPad screen and scan it with my iPhone, but that's just what makes more sense to me, if you feel confident that you can use the much larger iPad to scan the smaller phone screen it should make no difference. No, you can't upload the file as far as I know, the QR code on the card has to be scanned and at least I found the only way to do this is to display the card on a second screen or to have a print out. When I did mine I displayed it on my laptop screen and used the Code Scanner option, when I then added my wife's on her phone I decided to try a different approach and I printed out her vaccine passport and used the camera app. In my opinion using Code Scanner is easier because it captures the code automatically as soon as it sees it whereas with the camera app Voiceover told me a QR code was present, but I then realized after nothing happened that there was a button which I think was labelled "Capture QR Code" and I had to tap that. But once I did it also worked. RE: Adding COVID-19 vaccination passport to Apple Wallet in iOS 15.1
Mich, I had posted a message with an article from iPhoneInCanada which contained a link as to how to do this using the website called "Grassroots", but when I just Googled this to find it again I found a new article which indicates that Ontario has now moved to using a so-called "verifiable health record" which can be directly scanned and added to the wallet. Here is the article: Ontario Now Supports iOS 15 COVID-19 Vaccination Cards | How It Works<https://www.idropnews.com/news/ontario-now-supports-ios-15-covid-19-vaccination-cards-how-it-works/170662/> If you have your vaccination card with the QR code on the computer you can scan it directly from the screen, just open the file on the computer and instead of using the camera app I recommend using the Code Scanner feature which is part of Control Centre because it automatically recognizes the QR code and the message to add it to Health app and the Apple Wallet will pop up. If you use the camera you still have to tap a button to capture the QR code once the camera sees it, however, it does tell you when it sees it so you can try it either way, but that should be all there is to it. I don't know how you obtain the vaccine passport in the first place, but it could be possible I guess that if you had it for a while and it was since updated you may have to redownload it, here in British Columbia we have a website called Health Gateway and all you have to do to get the vaccine passport is to click the link for it and then enter your BC Medical Id, your birth date and either the date when you received your first or second shot as verification. Then the card is displayed and you can download it, open or print it and then scan the QR code. I already had mine on the computer so it literally took me less than a minute to open the file, walk up to my laptop, open Code Scanner from Control Centre and slowly move the phone across the screen from left to right, once I got towards the right side it recognized the QR code, a screen popped up with a button asking if I wanted to add it to Apple Wallet and the Health app and I tapped on that and it was done. Yes, sorry - I should have said the 3 finger double tap just turned off speech not Voice Over. When wanting to silence my phone while in a meeting or class, this plus flipping the mute button to mute is all I need do to not be interrupted. RE: muting phone, VO & IOS 15.1
People can't contact you with Do Not Disturb on if you disable the feature where a call which is repeated within 2 minutes it let through, but of course you also have to make sure you don't allow Emergency Bypass for some people. This is much easier now in iOS 15 because if you really want a Focus where nothing comes through you can create one and call it something like "Church" or "Total Silence" or whatever and really turn off everything. Whilst talking abut the phone, recently mine has become quite temperamental.
