Have you installed something new on your computer recently. The
reason why I ask you that is that I was having similar problems
with Apple Works.

While looking ay the web pages of MacCentral the other day, there
was the mention of the Trojan Horse and a few lines down for a try
out for Virex anti virus software, so I thought why not give it a
go.

Next day, after hours of frustration trying to find the Apple Works
problem I got rid of the Virex software and all was working fine
again.

 Hi muggers

 Any Pagemaker experts out there?

I've been working on a document for just about a day when I suddenly
had a series of error messages (including something about hyperxxx
parameters), then I can't save because disk full (which it wasn't).
Then the program quit. I now find that the file (which I'd been saving
regularly) won't open. It looks normal, right icon etc. When I try to
open it, I get the message "Cannot open file Error 8009:16404"

And did I back it up before all this happened? Did I hell.

Mac Ti Powerbook system 10.2.8 (but I'd rebooted and was working in
 system 9.2.2), Adobe Pagemaker 6.52

Any advice? Or do I have to start again???

OK !I don't know Pagemaker at all ... but

1.

There are some funnies sometimes ... I am thinking of word, for
example ... where if you
save and then later save again you progressively get an increase in
file size and an
accumulation of all the changes. For Word I would occasionally do a "
save as "

which starts afresh in a way.

If you have not already done so , increase the allocated Ram to
Pagemaker ,
delete Pagemaker preferences ( or at least drag them out of your system
file to a parking spot )

and reboot. The system will make new default preferences .

It might give you the chance to get into the file to manipulate it.

2.
Depending on how you use use Classic, you may have an alternative
approach !
Under Classic " advanced " there is an option to use "home"
preferences, which are the preferences

of the App that were last imported from OS9 x.
You might try there for access ?

You seem to imply that you may have been working on this document in
OS 10.2.8

before rebooting and then working on it in OS 9.2.2

How big was the document ?
How much Ram ?
How much spare Disk space ?

Mail

2004-04-12 Thread Peter Curtis

Hi All
For some reason, my mail which is divided into "In" and "Junk", is
suddenly not showing my junk emails.

Not that I want to read junk mail, but I do like to check it.
The number of junk emails show, but the actual emails are not showing
in the mailbox.

Using Mac Mail App.
Any suggestions?
Regards
Peter.

idonotSync

2004-04-12 Thread Tony Cockbain
When using iSync to transfer addresses from Address Book to iPod I note
that while work addresses and home addresses do get transferred,
addresses from a customised heading do not. e.g. Instead of using 'work
address' for a PO Box I customised a 'PO Box' address heading.
Unfortunately the address did not appear in the iPod. When I
transferred the same address as a 'work address' it did appear. Seems a
bit silly to be able to customise a heading and not have it work under
iSync. OR have I missed something.

Re: Personal Web Sharing - Solved

2004-04-12 Thread Callum Prior
Many thanks to David Watkins who found a solution to the problem I was
having re-activating personal web sharing (see below).

The problem was occurring to to an erroneous "?" Making it's way into
the httpd.conf file while I was editing it. As suggested by David, to
check the configuration enter "httpd -t" in terminal, which gave me a
line number on which the error could be found.

Cheers!

Callum

Hi all,

I'm having trouble reactivating Web Sharing.

While trying to fix my constant (and sadly, still current) unexpected
quitting problem we reinstalled Panther and ran through the updates
again. I've been going through getting my system back the way I like
it, but seem unable to turn on Personal Web Sharing again (System
Preferences > Sharing > Services - Personal Web Sharing).

After selecting it and clicking start a "Web Sharing starting up"
message appears, Personal Web Sharing greys out, and nothing happens.
Anyone have any ideas?
