Re: MobileMe uploading problem

2010-05-22 Thread Adrian Skehan
Thanks Ronni,

I tried that without success, if I change the noonan link to me.com it fails
also. I also tried setting up a new folder with a .jpg inside and used
http://homepage.mac.com/adrianskehan/Sites/test/Kilmore001.jpg it worked fine,
if I change it to a web.me address I get an error.

I will do a bit more experimenting and see what happens. I will give the
MobilMe help desk a call tomorrow.

Adrian

 Hi Adrian,

A while back you posted a query about Dot Mac which I responded to and you
said you had updated .Mac to MobileMe.
As Daniel has mentioned below, you cannot edit Homepage sites anymore.

But you can setup Links on your HomePage sites to go to your iWeb Sites,
 and vice versa.

If you previously published webpages using HomePage, those pages are still
 available at:
http://homepage.mac.com/[YourMemberName]

Websites you create in iWeb are available at:
http://web.mac.com/[YourMemberName]

You may want to set up links on your HomePage sites to go to your iWeb
 sites, and vice versa.

On your iDisk, your HomePage sites are in the Sites folder.
Your iWeb sites are located in the Sites folder in the Web folder.

You can’t use iWeb to edit HomePage sites.

 Cheers,
 Ronni

Re: MobileMe uploading problem

2010-05-22 Thread Ronda Brown

Hi Adrian,

I think you problem is with the link on the Skehan icon.
http://www.skehan.id.au/

The Link when you click on the Noonan icon works correctly, it links to:
http://homepage.mac.com/adrianskehan/Sites/noonan/index.htm

The link you have on the Skehan icon is incorrect, it links to:
http://web.mac.com/adrianskehan/Sites/skehan/index.htm

You need to edit the link on the "Skehan icon" on this page
http://www.skehan.id.au/ in iWeb to link to this URL address :
http://homepage.mac.com/adrianskehan/Sites/skehan/index.htm

>
> One other thing I do find strange is that it doesn't matter which page I go
> to on my site it always has the same URL http://www.skehan.id.au/.

You have setup a Personal Domain: i.e that you own a registered domain name
(i.e., www.skehan.id.au) and you’re a MobileMe subscriber, MobileMe and iWeb
provide a process for forwarding browsers looking for that domain to the space
on MobileMe.
By setting this up, you make it possible to publish your site to MobileMe, but
retain your domain name in the site’s URL.

Cheers,
Ronni

Hi Yvonne,

Some of the Welland Spotlight are Dual Bay 3.5". If yours is a Dual

You could have the combination of 2 units SATA I/II HDD up to 2TB

Re: MobileMe uploading problem

2010-05-22 Thread Adrian Skehan

Thanks Ronni & Daniel,

I was aware of dot mac/mobile me change and have tried every variation of the
URL removing the dot mac reference that I could think of without success,.
Looking through the support pages I can only find references to using iWeb
which I don't have a problem with, where I'm stuck is with linking to external
pages from iWeb. Initially the link was
http://homepage.mac.com/adrianskehan/Sites/skehan/index.htm which opened up
the Genealogy site.

Incase I have muddled my explanation in my earlier messages the following may
be a bit clearer; my domain name "skehan.id.au" is hosted on MobileMe, in iWeb
my home page/site name is "skehan" when I make any changes I just use the
publish button and it goes to my domain name site. I have added a page with
some screen shots showing where the subject files are kept.

The question now is; Do I have the genealogy files in the correct place? and
what might the correct path/URL be to access them?

One other thing I do find strange is that it doesn't matter which page I go to
on my site it always has the same URL http://www.skehan.id.au/.

Re: Beta machines ;-)

2010-05-22 Thread James / Hans Kunz
it's correct that fm modulation was used for better sound quality in
recordings, but on that time there was nothing known about digital,
just a few years later the comercials started to used the first sort
of digital recording (pcm>fm based onto vhs tapes) for multichannel
recording in audio studios
fm is frequency modulation & not!! digital at all (we all have the fm
radio to listen to a range of stations) the audio always appears as
analog signal

Re: MobileMe uploading problem

2010-05-22 Thread Ronda Brown

Hi Adrian,

A while back you posted a query about Dot Mac which I responded to and you said
you had updated .Mac to MobileMe.
As Daniel has mentioned below, you cannot edit Homepage sites anymore.

But you can setup Links on your HomePage sites to go to your iWeb Sites, and
vice versa.

If you previously published webpages using HomePage, those pages are still
available at:
  http://homepage.mac.com/[YourMemberName]

Websites you create in iWeb are available at:
  http://web.mac.com/[YourMemberName]

You may want to set up links on your HomePage sites to go to your iWeb sites,
and vice versa.

On your iDisk, your HomePage sites are in the Sites folder.
Your iWeb sites are located in the Sites folder in the Web folder.

You can’t use iWeb to edit HomePage sites.

Cheers,
Ronni

Hi Adrian

You can view "homepage" sites but you can't modify them anymore, as Apple
discontinued the use of "homepage". It's handled differently in
MobileMe/iWeb/me.com

Have a look here:-

MobileMe uploading problem

2010-05-22 Thread Adrian Skehan
Good morning all,

For the last couple of days I have been trying to update one of my 2 family
history file on my web site at "skehan.id.au" but have encountered a bit of a
problem.

The site is hosted on MobileMe.

Web pages using iWeb 09 v3.0.1

Family history files using Reunion v9.0b

Reunion Folders with enclosed files are located: MobileMe > iDisk > Home
(iDisk) > Sites > skehan and noonan, these folders are linked by an External
Page link on my iWeb pages.

The link to these pages is:
http://homepage.mac.com/adrianskehan/Sites/skehan/index.htm (Note: if I change
the mac.com part of the URL to me.com or mobileme.com it wont work at all)

The Reunion files are uploaded via the MobileMe upload button.

iWeb Folders with enclosed files are located: MobileMe > iDisk > Home (iDisk)
> Web > Sites > skehan

For the last few years everything has worked perfectly but the update to my
Reunion files in the above skehan folder has resulted in the following error
message:

This page contains the following errors:
error on line 12 at column 14: AttValue: " or ' expected
Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error.

Accessing the page via FireFox gets a different error:

You have chosen to open index.htm which is a: Binary File from http://
homepage.mac.com would you like to save this file?

If I click Yes it downloads a Safari page that opens up the index page with all
the information (links etc.) but minus the graphics (Pictures and icons for
phone # etc.)

If I change the "index.htm" in the linking URL from:
http://homepage.mac.com/adrianskehan/Sites/skehan/index.htm to another files
idx001.htm I get the same error, however if I change it to any of the other 900
files it works OK.

I have checked the Reunion Web Preferences and cant see anything wrong. It
seems that it doesn't like anything that looks like an index.

Any suggestions as to the cause or a fix will be appreciated.

Hi John

I use a free utility called "Disk Inventory X" to help find space guzzling
files. You can find it here http://www.derlien.com - you can see a link to a
quick intro video on the home page.

I have used Linux and windows versions in the past as well - very handy.

Hi Ronni

Thanks for this info on the DNS addresses. I will forward you comments
on to Trevor at Country wide so he is aware of it, as he has my non-
working router, and I have the one that does work, thankfully,
otherwise I would not be happy!

Secondary DNS Server IP Address: 61.9.226.33

Put the Router IP Address as the DNS Server on your MacBook Pro

Re: Telstra Wireless Next G Gateway modem/router

2010-05-22 Thread Chris Burton

Hi Vlad

Nice to hear from you and thanks for your interest in this. I bought
the first modem from a local phone shop in Busselton about a year ago.
As soon as I had it home and tried to set up I came upon the problem,
that is ongoing. I then found out about Telstra Country wide who work
from Bunbury and the manager there has been helping out ever since and
is determined to find out what the hell is going on. He had ordered
the second modem early this year which is the one we are working on
now, and is about to order the third. I hope BigPond actually take up
the challenge to.

Im thinking of upgrading to a new macbook with snow leopard and hope I
dont have the same issues

Best regards
