Re: Telstra bumps iPhone plans to 6GB!

2010-08-03 Thread Eugene
Hi Mart,

this appears to be only an introductory offer that expires in 1 November. Shame.

http://www.telstra.com.au/mobile/phones/iphone/pricing.html

The 6Gb costs $129 per month and includes $1500 of calls
The $49 plan includes 500Mb data and $400 of calls

Eugene

I understand they also don't charge extra to enable tethering, so you could

This is a lot more tempting than the 500MB plan for $49 (which was 250MB)

No, the end of that para in the Telstra conditions states:
…. Bonus data allowance applies for the full term of the customer's eligible
contract plan. If the customer's eligible contract plan is cancelled, the bonus
offer will cease to apply.

It seems the _offer_ ceases on the 1st November (unless extended by Telstra)

Re: Telstra bumps iPhone plans to 6GB!

2010-08-03 Thread Martin Hill

Ha! Peter beat me to it, :-)

But this is what I was going to say:

On the contrary, this is what the fine print on that very sameTelstra page says:

Bonus data allowance applies for the full term of the customer's eligible
contract plan.

So the only thing that finishes on Nov 1 is the ability to sign-up unless
extended by Telstra.

So, as long as you sign up before Nov 1, you get to stay on the larger data
plan till the end of your 2 year contract.

Sweet.

Re: Telstra Announces iPhone Pricing

2008-06-30 Thread Martin Hill

Looks like the interest has brought down the Telstra mobile website(!)

$30 per month 2 year contract: upfront cost of
- $279 for the 8GB iPhone model
- $399 for the 16GB iPhone model

$80 per month 2 year contract:
- 8GB iPhone free

$100 per month 2 year contract:
- 16GB iPhone free

All plans include free Wi-Fi access at Telstra hotspots

Considering Telstra's website still says their cheapest NextG plan is
$49 per month, the $30 per month deal is impressive. However, i think
I've found out how much extra they charge for data:

- $5 per month = 5MB of data!!!
- $29 per month = 80MB of data

$1 per MB excess data charges

bloomin heck, the highway robbers - that's as bad as they charged
for GPRS. Here's hoping they actually update these prices for the
iPhone :-(

Unfortunately it looks like Telstra NextG may be the only network in
Australia supporting full 3G speeds of the iPhone outside of metro
areas (as Neil mentioned), not to mention Telstra’s wider coverage
and faster NextG network. damn.

CAUDIT is apparently in the process of negotiating special corporate
plans with Optus (and maybe Telstra) so hopefully those of us at the
various universities around Australia will be able to get iPhones on
nice cheap corporate plans.

Re: Telstra and iPhone

2008-06-12 Thread Shay Telfer

Hi...

Like Apple, Telstra are unlikely to comment on future plans that are
important to their business, and they're unlikely to let their
frontline helpdesk people do it either.

Amongst other things they have to work out how to support visual
voicemail and what they're doing about the fact that they already
have a music store that's not compatible with the iPhone :).

Why rush an announcement when they can watch the Optus/Vodafone
feeding frenzy whilst they both try to establish their pricing
structure? Then they can price theirs accordingly.

http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=991785

I'm sure you'll be able to get an iPhone on Telstra (yes, they know
what they are) Probably the longer you wait the better plan you'll be
able to get!

Have fun,
Shay (Anyone else sick of reply-to-list yet?)
