SALVAGE I

2007-10-22 Thread Michael Creech
Great news! The 1979 TV series SALVAGE I that starred Andy Griffith will be
coming to DVD in 2008! An exact date has not been set, but it will include
the 2 hour made-for-TV movie, SALVAGE and all 18 episodes, four of which
never aired in the original network run. Now if they'll only release
Mayberry RFD on DVD, my Mayberry heaven would be complete.

2007-07-01 Thread Michael Creech
In 1967 there was a TV special titled, ANDY GRIFFITH'S UPTOWN/DOWNTOWN
SPECIAL that starred Andy Griffith, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Maggie Peterson
with the Bruce Davis Quintet and a folk rock group known as the Back Porch
Majority. In the opening number, there is a group of dancers and a very
noticable Goldie Hawn. She is not listed in the credits, but it was
unmistakenly her.

RETURN TO MAYBERRY television movie! I'm sure that some will be upset about
already buying each individual season,as I did, but now we'll be able to get

COLOR me Mayberry

2007-02-03 Thread Michael Creech
I know that I'm in a minority here, but I much prefer the color episodes to
the black and white ones. Three of the major reasons are 1) I think that
Floyd is much better, 2) Howard Sprague is my favorite Mayberrian and 3)
Emmett Clark . As a parent myself, I always thought that Andy was a little
more believable as a father in the later years. I've never known a
"perfect" father and that's how I thought he was portrayed in the b&w's (not
that there's anything wrong with that). I'll set and watch any episode, but
my world is in living color.

not so modern day TAGS

2006-07-16 Thread MICHAEL CREECH
I remember a television show from the mid to late Eighties that I considered
a modern day TAGS and it was called "Evening Shade" with Burt Reynolds and
Merilu Henner. It always had good, clean humor (from what I remember of it)
and focused on the residents of the town as much as it did the two stars. I
also remember during a dinner with George Lindsey that he was supposed to be
added to the cast as the town Mayor, but despite its good ratings, it was
canceled. I recall that shortly after getting the axe, Mr. Reynolds was
irate about the shows demise and was very vocal about it. Too holesome for
the networks, I suppose.

Don Knotts rare item

2006-05-08 Thread MICHAEL CREECH
I don't usually use WBMUTBB to sell things, but I have a very rare DON

promotional 45 RPM titled "I WISH I WERE A FISH" that was never for sale at
record or music stores. It was an item that could only be obtained by
theater owners to be given away as a promotional item. The record itself is
in mint condition, and the picture sleeve, which has a picture of DON KNOTTS
as Mr. Limpet would be considered mint but the edges are starting to yellow.
If you are interested, e-mail me personally and please do not respond to the

Wak of Fame Star

2006-03-11 Thread MICHAEL CREECH
Having been involved in Don Knotts getting nominated for his Star on the
Walk of Fame, I can shed a little light on that subject. The celebrities
themselves do not pay for the Star, but whoever nominates the celebrity is
responsible for a $15,000.00 fee. By the way, Don Knotts star was the first
to have the $15,000 fee, prior to that, the fee was $7,500.00. Whenever
someone nominates a celebrity, then if the Walk of Fame committee selects
that celebrity as a recipient, that's when the fee is due. In Don Knotts
case, I helped another person collect donations from both celebrities and
fans to pay for half and TV LAND paid the other half. Unfortunately, the
other person had promised to send photo's of Don receiving his Star to
everyone that contributed $5 or more, but he never got around to doing that.

Election video

2008-10-26 Thread Michael Creech
I don't chime in very often, but here's my two cents. I am very
dissappointed that Ron Howard and Andy Griffith used the characters of Andy
and Opie to make a political statement. It actually goes against the whole
idea of the "Mayberry" way of life. Mayberry should be a place where there
are very few problems and political squabbles are not caused by party lines.
I would have been alright with a Ron Howard and Andy Griffith political ad,
no matter who they chose, but they have now caused a riff among the fans of
the show by saying that Andy and Opie wants you to do vote this way or your
not a Mayberrian. If that is the case, it's not a place for me anyway,
because everytime that I watch The Andy Griffith Show from now on, I will
see a huge "VOTE FOR OBAMA" sign right there on the court house and that's
not the reason that I watch it.
