I've made some confusion, you're wright it's not MDDHosting where they're 
some old Webfaction guys but Opalstack.
I'll choose a VPS from Opalstack or OVH. Did someone tried to use 
Webfaction on OVH?

Not sure how you got to that screen - looks like an online chat window?   
I've always just send email direct to supp...@opalcom and someone 
responds pretty quickly.

Can't speak as to pythonanywhere, but Opalstack definitely supports 
automatic Letsencrypt certificates - I have it set up on all my sites.  You 
just flip a switch on each website and the rest is handled automatically, 
including auto-renewals.

script like pic attached. Do pythonanywhare permit this ? i already

Reading the "What will not be available when I am migrated to tsohost"...  
makes you wonder what they actually do host on their servers!  And they're 
starting migrations in a couple of weeks and shutting WF down 100% in March.

Anyone who liked the WF control panel, services offered and way of doing 
things AND who wants a seamless transfer of their sites to another host, do 
yourselves a favour and create an account on Opalstack and check them out.  
You should feel right at home.

Either way, good luck with your migrations.

Just FYI, I'm going on 18 months now with Opalstack and couldn´t be 
happier.  Running multiple web2py (and other) apps on servers in US and EU, 
hosted email, etc. with the same access and levels of control I'd had on 
WF.  And most importantly, always the same incredible customer focus and 
willingness to help that originally made WF famous, that is, until their 
encounter with the Borg/GD  ;)

support people were very patient and helpful. After joining forces with GD 
support no
longer stands out from the crowd.

Last week I signed up with Opalstack, https://www.opalstack.com/ and I am 
glad I did, 
great support and a simple but powerful control panel. One of the former WF 
support 
people wrote a web2py install script which got me up and running in no time.

There are various hosting services mentioned from time to time around here, 
but many of them are "generic" hosts.  AWS and Google Apps, of course.  I 
think Digital Ocean was another popular choice.  Heroku seems to be the one 
that gets the most questions around here, possibly due to the "filesystem 
reset" behavior that gets mentioned.

We use Linode for the big stuff and DO for the small stuff, FWIW. I have
nothing but praise for Linode. DO are pretty good, but nowhere near as
polished as Linode, and do not (yet) inspire the confidence that Linode
does.

Two issues with DO that are worth mentioning: -

- No IPv6
This is just slack! It's gone into private beta very recently, I
understand - what I don't understand is why it was not there from day one!

- No swapfile
Can be a gotcha depending on your needs, but easily remedied [1].

Its is very good.

For 20 usd i get 100GB disk space  and 600GB/Month traffic and 1GB RAM
Also the tickets are replied quickly.
Also avaliable some script to setup a lot of frameworks , one of them is

I also have an account at Webfaction, you instal  web2py in 5 steps:

1.Go to: https://wiki.webfaction.com/wiki/InstallScripts
2.Scroll to web2py (Latest stable source), click the Install link. The 
create a new application form appears.
3.In the Name field, enter a name for the application (w2p).
4.In the Extra info field enter a password for web2py’s administrative 
interface
5.Click the Add application button.

In the control panel you can add a domain without the www

I switched to Digital Ocean based Anthony's previous suggestion, and have
only words of praise (price/speed/support)!!! Got nginx+ubuntu and just
needed to run the web2py installation script to set everything up. That was
it, and all worked perfect.

Webfaction is cheap and relatively easy, but slow lately. Good support
in forums from admins.
Slicehost is FAST, but you have to do everything yourself. Haven't
used their support yet.
GAE is the easiest to deploy with because no configuration required.
But the platform has limitations so isn't always practical. Good
support in forums from other users.

I recommend GAE unless you have special requirements, like a c based
library.

your application.
If your traffic is realtively low, this is really easy.

VPS is cloud hosting, so not sure what the setup is - but you can
probably expect to be root on your own linux slice.
Massimo will be able to say if he had to configure Apache, or how far
it came preconfigured.

It does look like the sweet deal for entering the cloud.   And your
responsiveness will be noticeably better.

VPS just gives you a Virtual Private Server for $25/month (including
daily, weakly and monthly backups). You can install one of the many
images they provide (like Ubuntu or any of the TurnKeyLinux
appliances). On Ubuntu installing and configuring a full apache/
postresql/postfix/web2py just requires running /web2py/scripts/setup-
web2py-ubuntu.sh

They have a slider on the admin web site that lets you change the size
of the virtual machine. They have API that allows you partition it and
spawn more instances.I did not use these features.

It is similar to Amazon but simpler (not S3, no SimpleDB) and much
faster to deploy/administer.
