Hi Jason,
I've received The Rough Guide To Techno (Thanks Tim, excellent job!)
yesterday and thanks to that nice piece of work I can answer question A)
about Mills. Don't mind if I already use a quote (?): 'In 1992, however,
Mills decided to accept the offer of a residency at Peter Gatien's

labels. Previous releases on Fracture (Blueprint spinoff) and, er, quite a
few more I think. His debut album on Fragmented from a couple of years back
should also be findable. Apparently he was propping up the back wall

It sounds as though he was involved with the X-101 record

Where does he does DJ though?
I've never seen him listed for a set at any of the usual techno haunts.
I remember reading an interview where he said if he had to choose,
he'd rather be a DJ than a producer.
Now for someone who capable of doing tracks like he is, this seems
like a strange choice!

The Casio RZ-1 is a drum machine that became one of DBX's signatures.
You can hear it on everything from De La Soul to Harthouse techno,
too, but DBX really embodies the use of the box. It's hi-hats and
claps are very distinctive.

You know traxx will make you sweat, and if you stand too close he'll
get his sweat on you! Traxx is the originator of DJ'ing as an athletic

This week's New York Time Out (the one with Parker Posey on the cover) has a
travel piece (pp. 187-8) about techno tourism in Detroit. It's written by Margie

It lists record stores, clubs, techno eateries (russell st deli), bars etc.
