Damn! 'They' just added the samples of this new Environ release to

It's damn good! As usual on Environ.
Does anybody know if Morgan Geist was involved in the production?

So, did anyone in London go to see them either on Saturday at Fabric or on
Sunday at the B T?
I think Tristan Watkins tried to get in to Fabric after Slices but there was
a queue 4 miles long because it was Fabirc's birthday weekend. Shame that a

When's Terry Francis on?) while some true fans were stuck outside in the

good line ups but seems to be full of c*nt$ - [excuse my french]. In fact a
large majority of them seem to spend the evening passed out on the stairs
which adds to the pleasant atmosphere of the venue ;)

Morgan (and Darshan) have worked with the Kelley Polar Quartet before,

are credited on several Environ/Metro Area releases. I guess this release
their share was much larger than 'usual'. Haven't heard it yet, but I know
it's going to be in the Don't-Listen-Buy-Anyway category :)

The man's has often spoken and sang about the discrimination he suffered as
a child in Tennessee, but I don't know where he is now - New York? He was in
jail for a bit recently for drugs charges. By all accounts, he cuts a
pretty tragic figure these days - still on the white lines, allegedly.

Trying to hunt down some info on Todd Sines Overlap Release party.
On the planet-e site there isn't any information about it. However in the
Google cache there is some stuff saying that it is on this Saturday the 26th at

I'm sure Todd will fill in the details.

I'm sure the only way you can learn how to mix is just do it yourself and

I've got a copy and it's a good book. Yeah, much of it will be
obvious/familiar to anyone who'd been DJing a while, but then there are
plenty of things in there you won't have thought of too, and let's face it,
there are loads of aspiring DJs out there who need a book just like this.
The authors
What is ironic though is that I get DJ gigs (which I don't solicit, but,
hey, it's fun) and I can't mix (my records are dope, right) and I get paid
WAY MORE per hour than I do writing. I get paid the equivalent of one
feature story per hour. Someone really needs to elevate the role of music
I actually sort of dislike that book.
It's true that it is historically smart, but it has an unfortunate
pseudo-mystical approach and gets uneccessarily cynical at certain places.
Plus it disses freeform radio.
