lissened to it a few times and then happily threw in it the recycle bin.

Thanks for sharing, there a lot of things listed there I have not
heard of before. Always interested to listen to music that inspires
the people that make the music that inspires me.

Too much of anything is bad. My current playlist is Justice, Mills'
One Man Spaceship, David Bowie's Young Americans, Station To Station
Low, Dimitri From Paris' Cocktail Disco of lost 'sleaze' disco, and
my friend Christian Vance's live CD.

Mehdi is more like Timbaland but open about his influences. He used
to produce MC Solaar. His wife is a graff artist, I believe. I think
that Midfield General thing could be a favour as Damian Harris helped
Justice find a choir for DANCE.

i never really liked solaar either. to be honest, aside from a couple
of UK emcees, i find most non-american hiphop to just be missing
something. im not

Does it sound better uncompressed?

Yes in fact 3 of the tracks on there (Laswell mix of Miles Davis, Urban Tribe :
Sophistry and the particular issue of the Lalo
Schifrin that Brendan spotted the Star Wars and Matrix references in) are
quoted as 1998. So it must be after that.

my bad - just catching up after the weekend
don't worry -- there is Dope Jams in Brooklyn now. i haven't been there, but
it's apparently a super high-quality shop for house, and some disco and stuff
in there too. from what i hear, they get all the dope detroit and chi stuff,
and very little junk...great store name too!
personally i
OK looking at the site they're not that new but I picked up the latest Redshape
and that Taho on Saturday. Liking them and was v.
disappointed that the time never seemed right to drop them at our party on Sat
night.
Haven't heard the new Quince either but will check it now.
Must have a word
Must have a word with my local favourite shop as they don't seem to
be bringing in the latest Delsin stuff - my choice has been
reduced since the loss of Pelican Neck here in Manchester: re
Henrique's mail about Vinylmania - that may have been some rent thing
but independent record shops
Not sure that's the case over here - see my previous mail. Of course part of
the reason that shops here are having a hard time is
vinyl as well as downloads being bought online but it's a worrying situation
nevertheless.

just oh great there's a new place
it can't take the place of Vinylmania because it will never have the
history that VM had
I liked shopping at VM
have to go back and acknoledge the fact that there is a new shop open -
that's brilliant
I'll check it out
thanks

I had bangers and mash for tea last night. I cooked a full packet of sausages
intending to eat half last night and then put the
other half on one side so when they'd cooled I could put them in the freezer
for another week. But it was so good that I might have
to have bangers and mash again
err yeah man, i realize all that. it's a shame, but places gotta close
sometime, and they had a good run. hope they went out with a bang and that dope
jams and others rise to replace. it is a bit odd a bigger fuss wasn't made
about vm closing, but we don't have many old new york house/disco
yeah i think it's the online shopping taking hold more than anything else. you
don't see many people at all in stores that carry only cd's either, really.
i'm pretty tired of hearing the sky is falling, honestly.

The US side isn't that inspiring at the moment, frankly - I mean
MIMS, Lloyd Banks, Fabolous - and the underground is about as boring!
The general view in the hip hop industry is that Americans would
never accept a non-American MC. Don't the Brits hate all their MCs?
The UK guys always
in the usa at least, i hear straight from the source (pressing

years, and that 7s are huge with indie labels bands again.
maybe dance music may need some juicing up or something, but vinyl
is nowhere near death.

oh c'mon, you are scraping the dregs out there, this is all tired nyc stuff.
lloyd banks? well duh, g-unit sucks harrrd, they always did. mims? fabolous?
this is as mainstream as it gets, mims was #1 in the charts! hiphop fans don't
listen to that stuff, pop music/mtv people do. down south is
Hey everybody,
I'm trying to find an old issue of Magic Feet magazine that had an
article about Jay Denham and the techno scene in Kalamazoo. The
magazine came out sometime in 1996I lost my copy some time ago.
Feel free to get of hold of me if you happen to have a spare copy, or

the new guilty simpson looks promising. i definitely like his style.

much impossible for them to ever do anything as nice

I listen to hip-hop all day at work, I hear a lot, underground,
commercial, the whole 9. I am not some newbie. I have followed this
scene since Grandmaster Flash came out. I am not the only one saying
that. Stuff like Brother Ali isn't pushing things ahead either, he's
a good lyricist,

Nah, 'sall in the way you choose to see it. By your logic dance
music would be in dire need of a regeneration too cause we'd be lumping
tiesto in with moodyman (they both play dance music). But I personally

few years
Did you ever get an answer for this? Just catching up and I think I
