FWIW, I saw Stacey Pullen play in Seattle '97, which was at that point the best
set I'd ever seen, then saw him in San Francisco at the MOMA in '99 for the
second time and he was already beginning to get dissapointing then. Basically I
think I've seen two sets from him that I've liked since
This reminds me of the last time Stacey played at 177 Townsend
(now gone in the wake of the ballpark redevelopment) -- he
must be thinking this is what will go down with a big club crowd
in San Francisco, because we know he's capable of playing so
much better,
Stacey was also at a King St Garage
I think it was the pre-2am slump, or rather he was warming up the clubbers
to the rawer stuff over the 4 hours he djed. When I got there at 12:30 I
had the same impression. Boring uninspired drumrolls and breakdowns with
some obnoxious eighties basslines. But by the time he finished I thought
Has Stacey Pullen done any radio in Perth or elsewhere in Australia other
than Melbourne? In theory he would have had time to do some over there (or
in Adelaide) during this week. Just wondered. Anyone tune in and hear the
Kiss FM show in Melbourne? It went for an hour. And I missed it. Damn.

Agreed. The Respect nights tend to have quite good music with the
exception of the headliner.
I mean at the previous one, the crowd was eating up the extremely awful
set of Dmitri from Paris, and then left in droves when Theo

Why choice words?
And what *did* he say in response?
I think that's cruel myself - he is such a sweet sensitive guy! I don't
think he was playing from anywhere but the heart myself.

Got it. You would have loved Sven Love and Jef K's set @

TO paraphrase he said:
' Your set was shit. I like my music deep and dark and your set was neither
of those things. I have some of your records and they are great. But hows of
disco loops just isnt good enough.'
And what *did* he say in response?
He said im sorry you
Well... it's interesting that we've had a couple of positive reports
about Stacey Pullen elsewhere in the country. Makes me wonder if
he didn't have a different crate of records for the Perth leg of the
tour. I guess I'm getting ahead of myself. Be warned, my opinions
expressed below may annoy

Basically at this gig the local dj's far outshone
the hired help. I know many people at this gig, myself included,
came away dissappointed by what was on offer.
Sorry to hear about your recent disappointment w/ Stacey. We @
